By far one of the best restaurants in Bloor-West Village. While this neighbourhood is not known for its food, Flame might be a reason to go out of your way to visit. Mezes, Kebabs and a variety of meats in the Turkish style set in a cute restaurant that hides one of the cutest rooftop patios around. The Pancanga and home made bread were a perfect start, while the ribs and kebabs were delicious, but the dish I am still thinking about is the Atlantis - fish fillet app covered in a turmeric and dill sauce that is worth the visit on its own. Came for a private event....what a cool place! Everything inside from furniture to dishes is made by local artisans. They had the coolest knives at $300 for 6. The upper level has seating, a bar and a washroom...as well as an area displaying all the items for sale. The lower level, where we had dinner, had anopen kitchen, seating and a washroom. They set up a screen for our speaker. The appetizer plate had stuffed eggplant,rice stuffed peppers and a cheese stuffed pastry. I didn't have the pastry but hubby said it was delicious and so flavourful. The other 2 items were also great. Three brought out a carbon bread with oil mixture that everyone enjoyed. They gave me cucumbers as the bread had gluten and the oil mixture had cheese. The entrees were either lamb, beef or brussel sprout/veg plates. Some of the best and unique tasting food I've had in Toronto. It is super local. When we went there, one person (the owners friend) pulled out a guitar and started playing traditional Turkish music and everyone else at the restaurant joined and sang along. It was really really cute and so heart warming. The owner is incredible. He comes by all tables and talks to his guests, takes their order. Highly highly recommend this place! read more

This restaurant offers delicious Turkish food. We had a selection of tapas to share and the cold soup. Everything surpassed my expectations, as the food is so flavourful. They also have a design store upstairs with lovely plates and glasses which are available for sale. We will be back for sure! The only recommendation would be to adjust the air conditioning. We visited on a hot day, and it was hot inside the restaurant. read more

This place is amazing. The service is flawless as is the food and wine. The red wine was served at the ideal temperature. We were on the patio but it was not cold even after 1.5 hours. The heaters took the edge off and it was just lovely to be outside and be served again. I had the 24-hour brined chicken burger and it was so delicious. My brother had the lamb-beef on portobello mushroom Keto burger and it was filling and also delicious. I think they must make their own pickles as they were crunchy and tasted home made. As it was my brother's birthday which I had casually mentioned when we ordered, they served his burger with a candle and a flower which was so sweet. I'll post a photo of it. We shared an order of fries and they came already split on our plates, so no fighting over them. read more

Pretty terrific meal here! Of our appetizers, the pacanga was the star--or perhaps the variety of options was the star, since it was far from the usual meager hummus thing. The bulgur patty was not my thing, texture-wise, but hey, now I've tried it... The mains were fantastic, with the lamb skewers and the super-moist chicken breast skewers being our favorites, especially as they were accompanied by some really tasty garnishes (broiled clementines, onion salad with sumac). The three of us had two orders of laz boregi for dessert, and I think we might go for just one the next time, as they were huge and intensely sweet. The staff were wonderful and the food came to us quickly and efficiently. The plating of food added to its charm, as the black platters set the food off so dramatically, it felt like an occasion to eat there! One bit of a drawback to the ambiance is that the place is a bit smoke-scented, the same as it can be in a tabletop bbq place. Personally I don't mind that, but a friend of mine can't take it, and I won't be bringing him here though I know he'd love the food. Hm, maybe they do takeout... read more

Flame food and design only gets better every time i visit, their menu keeps updating, they have tons of vegetarian options. I went to flame just for a quick bite, the chef himself came to our table and he made us this delicious special burger. The hospitality was 10/10. Delicious!! Came here tonight on a Saturday, had delicious appetizer with mains, delicious! The food was flavourful and juicy, the steak melted like butter. The atmosphere is dark and romantic, the only downfall is there only one bathroom , but besides that it was an amazing experience. They also warn you if you're buying anything from the " grill " it'll take about 25 minutes which is not bad ! But it did take about 40 minutes to get the food which is okay when you're with people. read more

Went here last night with hubby and friends who are all Turkish while visiting Toronto... amazing Turkish fusion food was stated from the whole table! Can't go wrong with anything you order. The chef was extremely accommodating because of my food allergies and specially prepared the food separately to ensure no cross contamination. Lamb chops are to die for! Hubby got the Short Story that was flambé'd at the table. Everything from the appetizers (meze) to dessert and coffee... was prepared fresh and met all of our foodie expectations. This place is eclectic and has their own design store upstairs. They accommodate large parties and small, with a romantic and hipster atmosphere. What you'll get at Flame is not just excellent food, but an excellent overall experience. The owner and head chef Serhat comes around to each table and takes care of you like family, and even the smallest of needs are met with grace and a whole lot of stylistic flair. He's definitely a unique personality, and you can tell he enjoys what we does. The food served here is absolutely divine. There simply is nothing like it anywhere in Ontario: succulent and perfectly cooked steaks, very delicious and interesting mezzes (appetizers), and a rich Turkish Raki-inspired cocktail and drink menu that will leave you and your party of friends quite impressed. Amazing food and service! I've been to Turkey and loved the Anatolian food which is not easy to find. Got take out and will definitely be frequenting again! The lamb shank was perfectly juicy fall off the bone (and my dog loved the bone too). We asked for no salt and to our surprise not only did they agree the flavors were still aromatic I'd say it didn't even need the salt! Will have to try everything else on the menu and everyone else needs to try this place. Can't wait to dine in when that's a thing again! read more

My wife and I checked this place out because we wanted to try something new and it was fairly close to us. We were delighted by the family oriented service, warm atmosphere, and delicious food. Everything we tried looked, smelled, and tasted great. For a main we tried a grilled meat from their wood grill. It was amazing. There's also a nice twist where they design much of their tableware, and it's beautiful. Upstairs they have a store where you can buy some of these designs (and others). I have my eyes set on a set of steak knives next time. We'll definitely go again. read more

This place is super easy to find with their signature flame logo, super spot on! In love with their hummus and their grilled lamb (especially the grilled peppers one). I don't usually eat vegetables that much but that peppers did an excellent job. The incredibly delicious food with complex flavors that I will not soon forget, the ambiance on the rooftop patio, the warmth of the staff and Serhat the head chef and owner who we had the most wonderful conversation with - all of it just made for the most magical evening. This is a place that I can easily add to my top 10 epic restaurants list in the world because of their unique menu and design in their presentation. Their Mezes and home made black bread with olive oil is enough to startle you. We had a Toros Kebab and Naked Burger for mains that can easily leave you with a bewildered feeling like you are naked;) Seriously, they were meticulously designed&prepared on an iron pan plate and so delicious. For desert Kunefa was again piece of mouth watering dish as well as a great concept for your eyes. Needless to say service is amazing. I am glad that finally there is a restaurant arrived for me to go and to brag about to my friends. Well, even for drinks and casual hang out, you can check the upstairs and enjoy your time. Best food in Toronto, period!! We were looking for a restaurant this weekend and we thought we will try this place. We are very familiar with Turkish food and we love it. Surprise, surprise, it was nothing like the Turkish food we are used to. Everything had a spin, a beautiful, out of this world spin. The food is just unbelievable, you have to try it. Not sure about the reviews here. Our experience this evening was awful like many of the other diners. Without a diatribe and in short| no Turkish tea- "will take too long to prepare" whaaaa? Service- truly subpar with entrees arriving 100 minutes after the orders taken. The Brussel Sprout dish poorly prepared, almost raw, flavourless. My spouse's entree arrived 45 minutes before the other meals. Unclear what happened in the communication between the reservations made, the kitchen staff prepping for the service and the wait staff pacing. Poor table of 14 next to us. Half getting there meal and the other half over 20 minutes one by one. The staff were apologetic and knew that had a serious problem on their hands but with so much competition in Toronto a full restaurant served on such a poor fashion is a portent for a For Lease sign in the window. This is a Not Recommended establishment. read more

Food is great, but service left a lot to be desired. The waiters did not seem to be well trained. It was like they were all rookies - non attentive, long waits between courses, served main course to one of our group of 6 about 15 minutes before the rest of us. Long wait for coffee, which was wrong order. Had to wait another 15 minutes for correct order to arrive. Staff seemed to be walking around without direction. Great possibilities here because food was great, but staff needs to be trained and more attentive. Had a good talk with owners about our concerns. Hope to see improvements next time read more

Went here Feb 21st. The food we had was pricey but well worth it. You'd be definitely be full after eating it. The most remarkable thing about this place is the atmosphere. The name suits exactly what this place is about. Beautiful designs and unique prices that meld art and food together. Playing at its finest. If I would recommend anything about this place it would be to have multiple apps, which I believe is called memes. The lamb and grilled meat were good but just watching others eat the apps and how it was presented were novelty and delicious at the same time. I definitely would come back to focus more on the appetizers. read more

My friend and I went to Flame Food+Design for a later lunch. The food was superb, incredibly​ tasty and artistically presented. We ordered a trio of appetizers​ and they were all incredible. The fennel with the cheese and lemon dressing was just to die for, and the grilled pepper paste was deliciously spicy (but not hot). We also ordered the Roka salad and the grilled chicken thighs. The salad was fresh and dressed just right, the grilled clementines added a unique flavor​ to the dish. The chicken was cooked to perfection and served accompanied with grilled tomatoes, pineapple, red peppers, ​and lichee fruit. Overall, the food was tasty, seasoned just to perfection, light, ​and filling. The food in itself was a completely sensual experience. The service was extremely friendly. We were there when it was not too busy so we took our time enjoying the amazing dishes. We look forward to coming back to Flame Food+Design. read more

I just finished lunch at Flame Food + Design in Bloor West and it was just entirely a great experience. The owner is so incredibly nice and passionate. I just had a few dishes from the Mezze (tapas) section and each was so complex and incredible. So much care and attention to everything. I think it would be best to go with a few people so you can share dishes and try a bunch of things rather than just have one dish. No lie probably the best service I've ever had too. read more

Outstanding food, friendly but slow service, and not following COVID protocols. Although the staff is wearing masks as they should, about half the customers wandered into the inside space to use the washrooms and go to the street without ever putting masks on. This was our second time there in about a month, and the non mask wearing was worse this time - last time it was just one table, and last night it was at least 4 tables. The food is really good - interesting, generous portions, and delicious. The service is very friendly, but REALLY slow. Last night they had a second person on which helped, but we still waited for water (having asked twice) and a long time between our appetizers and our mains. That would have been ok if it wasn't for how unsafe we felt - when we were waiting to be seated, a group that had been outside smoking came through the restaurant without masks and basically pushed by us to go back to their table: in hindsight, we should have left right then. We've been dining on patios quite a bit to support our local restaurants, and this was the first time I felt completely unsafe. read more

This is a wonderful restaurant. The cuisine is distinctive and delicious-- Turkish, with a sophisticated twist. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the couple who own it are terrific. It is a bit meat heavy (and the grilled offerings are exceptionally good), but several apps and at least one of the mains are vegetarian. I think this is the best restaurant in the neighbourhood, and one of the best around. Check out the artisanal kitchen stuff upstairs. So beautiful. read more
