I've been here twice now, and I have to say this place has a fabulous vibe. It's mostly a family style diner, but their service can't be beat. The first time I came here it was very quiet on an early weekend morning and I had breakfast. No complaints. My friend suggested we come here for lunch and since it's been a while, I was more than happy to return. Reviewing their menu, they have lots to choose from and their prices are on point for any meal you get here. I went with a gyro with fries since I wasn't feeling their soup selection. My friend got breakfast since she was not interested in the lunch menu. Her meal looked really good and didn't cost an arm and a leg. My gyro was huge and the fries were quite delicious. Drink refills were a bit on the slow side, but they were busy, so I can't blame them. Our server was really funny and I loved her. She was so much fun, that next time I'm sitting in her section. Parking here is ample, but can be busy during brunch on weekends, so please be prepared. Parking lot is in good working order, and since it's right off Mound, I didn't have a problem getting in or out. So, why only 4 stars and not 5? Call me lame, but here's why. First, they need better napkins. They were thin and we went through a ton of them. Also, I wasn't excited about their soup selection. Can we get some French Onion Soup going here? Small stuff, I know, but just a thought. Anyway, this place has it down pat and I really enjoyed everything about it here. I absolutely love this diner. The staff is so fun and friendly. You can tell they care about the restaurant and it shows in their service and in their food. I come here once or twice a month now. I've had great dishes here. The breakfast is solid. The Reuben was excellent. The fries are always good. Just had their fish and chips last night and they were tasty. Food comes out hot and is always fresh. They even give you one of those old school bread baskets! One of my new favorite cozy spots for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. read more

Food here was great. We tried a garden skillet and strawberry cheesecake French toast. Staff were nice and talkative. They accommodated our large party easily. Nice decor and bathrooms were clean. Restaurant was busy on a Friday around lunchtime! read more

Never had been to this place before and what a pleasant surprise it was. The staff was sooo nice. I must admit the food was so fresh here. I orders the garden omelette which is there take on a veggie omelette and it was so fresh . Perfectly cooked egg when I opened it up nothing but fresh vegetables. Honestly one of the most delicious omelettes I have ever tasted. I was really surprised how great this place was. My son ordered just a plain burger and fries with a lemonade. He ate everything. We've been coming here for many years. Wide variety of a menu. Breakfast are phenomenal, but sandwiches, wraps, and dinners are great too. The Greek salad is fantastic. I bring half of it home for the next day as leftovers. Marinated chicken is flavorful and juicy. Very reasonable prices. I used to take my mom and dad for the senior specials. read more

Flaming Grill is an awesome lunch spot and is super convenient to M59 or Mound Rd. The family that owns it is really friendly and super engaged, I have always been treated like family here. If you eat here, the salads are really good as are any of the sandwiches. I have found the portions to be good size for the price and it is always fast. If you are eating breakfast here, the omlettes are great. It's a typical family diner setup, so large groups would have trouble finding a spot, but it's perfect for 2 or 4 people looking for a high quality meal. read more

I was looking for a local diner to try and came across Flaming Grill on Yelp, after reading their good reviews decided to give them a try. We walked in and were greeted by our waitress (didn't catch her name, but she was AMAZING). She asked for our drink orders and gave us menus to look over. I ordered the fish and chips, which included choice of potatoes, as well as soup or salad - I opted for the lemon rice. Starting with the soup, it was more on the watery side - but still really good and flavorful. The fish was cooked perfectly, extra crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. We also ordered a couple breakfast items to try including the Noah omelet, which was by far one of the best omelets I've had in a long time, and lately I haven't been a fan of eggs. Lastly, we got the stuffed French toast (banana and strawberries) with Nutella drizzle... the French toast wasn't eggy and cooked really good - only complaint is, that the French toast wasn't stuffed at all, fruits were on the top. Noah, the owner, came over to the table to check on us and ask how we'd enjoyed our food - which was nice. We chatted with him for a bit and told him go great out waitress was, which was appreciated. Overall, great staff and dining experience. Definitely recommend! Note: They're short staffed but you couldn't tell by the service and they're looking for servers! read more

We were in the area thanks to having two flat front tires and needing them replaced. We were told it would be about a half hour so we decided to go to breakfast. This was the first spot we saw so we happily came in. The outside is modern as is the inside. It's very welcoming and warm. When you walk in the owner greets you by saying, "welcome home!" It made us feel like family. The staff seemed to know all the regulars and they were friendly and attentive. The price was on par with other diners in the area. Computer system was down and we were told cash or they could write down our credit card. This was a business meeting where I didn't have enough cash for 4 people. I have the credit card info. They gave me a handwritten bill with tax included and I added a tip and signed the slip and took a picture for my receipt. Very disappointed to see the charge hit for $2.76 more than I approved. The amount isn't a big deal, it is the lack of integrity. $72.06 hit my card, pictured is the receipt for $69.30. read more

We wanted to try someplace different for takeout and this place did not disappoint. My wife said that her roast turkey dinner was as good as or better than her previous local favorite. My spinach pie had the perfect balance of spinach and cheese. The accompanying rice had a nice marinara-style sauce, sweeter, thicker and tastier than the usual Greek red sauce. The coleslaw was flavorful with enough sauce but not too much. I even got a small container of tzatziki that was yummy. All of this was ready in 10 minutes. Wow! I'm a fan. read more

This is why I love and miss, Detroit style Coney's! Typically family owned, stocked with hard working, warm staff and great vittles...The Flame doesn't fall short by any means. I've come here a few times now and every time, I'm amazed at how good the food is and the service is never shy of perfect. The owner is always on the floor, and not just schmoozing with customers, but helping his staff too...clearing tables, delivery food...refilling coffee...you get the picture. IT reminds me of a woman I worked for in Novi, years ago...at the Country Epicure. My apologies for not having any photos - I'll be sure to add some during my next visit soon! read more

Such a great family place. Staff is so kind and fast and efficient. I think they have multiple people who just walk around and fill up coffees nonstop...very much appreciated. Owner is always friendly and visible and goes overboard to make the guests happy. This restaurant is so clean, which is super important to me. I used to come here years ago (like 10) and it was one of the best breakfast joints in the area. Coming back many years later before hitting a local stone and tile shop and not much has changed... The food and service were generally ok. But...very disappointing that they are now charging a "fee" to use your credit or debit card. It shouldn't matter how you pay...only that you do!! This may be the fee the credit card companies charge owners BUT - this should never be passed on to the customer. Ever. THAT'S LIKE BITING THE HAND THAT FEEDS YOU!! This fee is the price any good businessperson should be willing to pay to have a thriving business! Eating at this restaurant is not cheap - so there is no need to have an "add on" fee. There is enough profit already being made - more than enough to pay whatever the fee is being charged! We will not be returning. read more

I got sweet potato fries on the side, which were earthy and tasty without any real seasoning. Unfortunately, Joey B's isn't in a great spot, at the end of a strip mall, off a busy road (Van Dyke). I only found it because of Yelp...I would have driven right by and never known there was a restaurant there. But, the locals seem to know they have a good thing going here. The mid-afternoon crowd was decent, which is encouraging. But, the bartender had to also wait on all the tables, which led to spotty service. I do plan to return here, at least in part because I want to be able to say that one of the best gyros in the area isn't in Greektown: it's right here, in Sterling Heights.

I was down in Troy for a function and we chose the Flaming Grill. The owner was wonderful and we felt like part of the family. My sister and I started with the chicken/lemon/rice soup (Avgolemono soup) and we agreed it was the best we have eaten, you could taste every ingredient. I wanted spinach pie and was not disappointed in my choice! It was flakey and fresh. My meal came with rice pudding for dessert that I didn't have room for, you definitely get plenty to eat. It was nice to see an owner who was so visible and hands on, he was genuinely interested in everyone having a good meal and a good time. Will be stopping next time I'm in Troy for sure. read more

Absolutely the best dining experience! I came in with my family and they accommodated me to perfection. My coffee was topped with out having to ask or wave anyone down. Went here for lunch yesterday. I got the standard chicken finger pita with fries and it was pretty good! My coworker got a salad which was HUGE!! I was on lunch at work and they got my coworker and I out in less than an hour. Nice to have a family diner in this area for a quick lunch. Will frequent this place often. read more

This restaurant just called my house and threatened to call the police over a review my girlfriend posted on Yelp and accused her of embezzlement (I didn't realize she worked there...). Worst customer service ever. Obviously don't understand the first amendment or the meaning of the word embezzlement. read more
