I'm a clawson resident who somehow has passed by old port 100 times before actually going in. Decided to give this place a try one day and definitely did not regret it! My boyfriend and I are huge fans, everything we've gotten is delicious and there's lots of regulars that the servers seem to all know by name. That's how you know you have a great establishment. Food is very fair priced, portions are generous, menu has a large variety, always super fast service and kind staff. 10/10 read more

Went for Mother's Day with 5 adults and 2 children. There was a wait which was understandable. They asked if we wanted to sit outside, to alleviate the wait, which we were happy to do. We were sat at 11:15. Ordered at 11:30. We did not start to get our food until 12:10. Mind you, it came out sporadically from 12:10 until 12:30. So, by the time the last two meals came out, (at 12:30) everyone else at our table had finished their meals. We have gone for Mother's Day in years past (with bigger parties) and never had this horrible of a time. We watched people come into the restaurant and leave before we received all of our food. We were told no manager was on staff. How can no manager be present when a restaurant is open, makes no sense. One time we were told there were two orders ahead of ours, when we inquired. Those orders were for people that came in well after us. We will not go again. The only thing that was good was our waitress. She was a sweet gal and understood the issue. Note to all. Was not her fault so she was tipped based off 20%. Food was good, no complaints there. read more

In my lifetime I have consumed gallons of chicken, turkey etc gravy. I've had your chicken gravy before and it was good. My point is, what was on my plate was not chicken gravy - it looked like chicken gravy, but it wasn't even close. Your cook simply ladeled from the wrong bucket, then you wouldn't make it right because I ate some of it - not half, and what difference does that make? Maybe I should have sent it back right away, but I don't like sending food back to any kitchen. Remember the customer is always right - standard business practice. read more

This is a very friendly neighborhood restaurant with a lot of offerings on their menu. It is not a gourmet restaurant, but the dishes they have taste great! Their prices are very reasonable and the service is usually fast and attentive. This place is great for breakfast, lunch & Dinner. They have a variety of different foods for each meal. This place has been a staple in Clawson for years! I have pretty much came here my whole life! They knew us by name because we came here on a weekly basis. However a few years back they did change ownership, but none the less they are still a great family dining place. They are very reasonably priced. You cannot go wrong with breakfast because they have a fantastic breakfast! If you live in Clawson you have more than likely been here ! My second time here. Its a family type dinner with lots of selections to choose from. I had fish and Chips this visit. The fish and Hips came with Three Giant pieces of fish with a plate of fries. It came with a side salad and a cup of lemon rice soup.. the lemon rice was very flavorful. read more

Meh. Maybe 30 years ago this diner was just ok. Now it's just bad. Flavor is not your friend here. It's bland old folks food. Not sure how they survive. Against my better judgement I went here out of convenience and am now compelled to warn others. It's dirty. Family run, great food and service, friendly staff, checked on us to make sure everything was good several times during our meal. Coffee and water refilled without asking, doing what good waitresses do, without asking, it was refreshing. Big selection of foods and their entrees exceeded expectations. Really just not great, unfortunately. These guys do a decent breakfast. It's serviceable but can't compete with some of the truly excellent breakfast locales that have popped up in Clawson over the years. Where they are truly a disappointment is with their lunch & dinner menu. I've tried a few different dishes and they were all bland and subpar. I'm not even sure I would like the food if I were 90 years old (which is the Old Port target demographic, to be sure). My latest lunch experience at Old Port was a hot turkey sandwich... a classic lunchtime dish... most places don't get it right but it's also hard to mess it up to the point where you do it bad. Old Port did it poorly and then some. The turkey was dry and discolored lunch meat slices, the mashed potatoes & gravy were flavorless (unless you consider sodium a flavor), and the overcooked mixed vegetables had turned rancid. I'm pretty sure that it was the unintentionally mushy peas that were leaving an acidic rotten flavor in my mouth with each bite. Yuck. Old Port is a relic of a bygone era, and unfortunately they are a middling relic, at best. Two stars, only for the breakfast. I MIGHT stop in for breakfast again one day if I'm in the area and in the mood for the basics. But definitely never eating lunch/dinner here again. This place has seemingly been getting worse over the years rather than better. Buyer beware. read more

Old Port has been going through a lot of ownership changes in recent years. I've tried them all! I grew up on Old Port as a kid, having family dinner there at least once a week, like many families in the area once did. So, it has been extra disappointing to see it go so far down-hill in recent years. I am ecstatic to inform the Yelp community, that new owners have again taken over and OLD PORT IS BACK AND BETTER THAN EVER! Seriously. It's always been the usual diner food, but it's REALLY good food now at reasonable prices. Their menu has a big range of foods. There is something for everyone and it's ALL actually really good food. I could eat here several times a week if I wouldn't die of embarrassment for going in so much! I'm super excited to have this old staple back in my life! Give them another shot! read more

The service was great, the restaurant inside was nice but the food was not the greatest. We ordered the southern skillet, western omelette and chicken fried steak all tasted great. They offer hash brown, fruit or pancake as a side. Their hash brown was delicious but their pancake was not a good it tasted bland even with butter and syrup.The price was very reasonable and they offered a variety of breakfast and lunch options to choose from. I'm not sure if it was the bad coffee that was cold and full of grounds or the questionable ham in my omelette,but I would rather eat off a manhole cover in Detroit than eat here again -100/10 would not recommend. Parking is easy and convenient and the menu selections are about what you would expect from a diner of this type(breakfast, lunch and dinner). The dining room is clean and they have a few big screen TVs to televise games and news. The service is good, the place is clean and the waitresses are sure to please. The food and presentation is generally good depending on what you order, but not on par with many other restaurants of this type and price range.
