Walked in with my daughter, who was visiting from London, to get tattoos. We decided on the random "gumball" machine to choose for us and were excited for anything that came out, but were looking for weird or out of the ordinary for extra fun. We were looking forward to "you get what you get, and you don't get upset." I ended up getting a Poker Hand and my daughter got a Cat. Something normal that we both would have chosen. Our artist was Brooke, and she was just so lovely and friendly and appreciated what we were trying to do with the random tattoos. She was excellent, I highly recommend her. He's well worth the three months you'll spend on his waiting list and the amount of time and detail he puts into every piece is truly mind-blowing. He does amazing things with realistic designs and fine lines that travel well beyond the realm of the expected and traditional. His demeanor may be reserved, but his imagination is not. Lifelike flowers with softly blended colors, multi-dimensional textures, gorgeous gradients, watercolor splashes, and intricate lace ... I have honestly never seen anyone show such mastery over such a range of technique. This is artistry at its best. Honest feedback, sound judgment, stellar design, and meticulous workmanship characterize my experience with him and I cannot sing enough praises of his talent. Civ is super friendly and does fantastic, vivid traditional design. Decades of experience and lots of international travel for his art make him both fascinating, experienced, and creative. Laura at the front desk is very approachable and nice, and the studio itself is clean and comfortable. My only regret? Settling with my first few tattoos. Johnny is so good that I'd consider it a PRIVILEGE for him to redo them all; everything I have looks like garbage alongside his work. read more

Often times there are two scenarios with tattoo shops: 1) You go to this really upscale, fancy tattoo "boutique" that has all the bells and whistles. The artists all do amazing work, but surprise! They're complete assholes who could care less about wether you get tattooed there or not because their instagram following is high or they don't think you're going to be a frequent, big bucks customers. 2) You go to a more low key shop, the staff is super friendly and makes you feel welcomed right away. Eager to get you in their chair regardless of the size of the piece you want and the hours it will take, but turns out they can't tattoo at all; their hands are shaky, their lines are blown out, and that mandala you wanted looks more like an uneven snowflake. All of a sudden you realize why they were so eager to have you stay. Lotus tattoo is a shop where you don't have to compromise good service for good tattoos or vice versa. They are so friendly, don't stick their nose up at clients, and best of all they do amazing, quality work. The shop is clean, reliable, and a no bullshit business. When I decided to start my sleeve my boyfriend who has gone to Civ for years insisted I try Lotus, I was skeptical about the two and a half hour drive but now I would drive double that time if I had to. Johnny Truant is amazing!!! He is a true artist and he listens to what you want and makes it even better than you had imagined. All of his designs blow my mind, and I enjoy his company immensely. I am so happy with the work he has done so far and can't wait to see what he does next. Thats a really nice feeling when you have something on your body forever (obviously). Laura, who I think is the shop manager is also super awesome and down to earth. She tries her best to fit you in ASAP (be prepared to wait but it will be worth it) and is very understanding of personal scheduling conflicts. She is very professional and just seems like a really nice person. Ive never really met any of the other artists including the owner Civ, but my boyfriend and his dad both say the nicest things about him and then some. They swore by his work and his shop and I see why. I would recommended this shop to all of my friends and family, and anyone who just wants good work done by good people. Highly recommend . Anthony did a color tattoo years ago on me and it still looks mint so I decided to go back to him to start a sleeve that also is colored and absolutely no regrets. Anthony is a a++ with an amazing character to be able to enjoy your session . I did about a 3 hour session with him while talking to him the whole time and was a amazing experience. Go to Christian! He's done two of my tattoos and he's great - friendly, and does a really good job putting your idea to skin. I had sort of vague ideas for my second tattoo with him, and he took my little sketch and my "yeah well, kinda like this maybe" to exactly what I had in my head, asking lots of questions about color and my input on his design, and then he was meticulous about placement (especially crucial for a first arm tattoo, when there are plans for future work on the rest of the arm). It is healing perfectly, and the lines look great and the colors are brightening as he said they would. The shop itself is clean, and has a friendly vibe. Definitely going back. read more
