We were able to meet with the crew of Flaming Pig at the Lacey Truck depot on one of their event nights. So this review is for the food truck not the stand alone restaurant. We got the beef brisket and two sides meal. And the Mac and cheese with sausage. The meat is SO tasty! The portion is right on the money for the food truck! The baked beans are genuinely tasty Tasty and the Mac and cheese is rich. Might be too rich for some. The sausage included with mine had also phenomenal flavor. With the right amount of saltiness. I'd be curious to see if portions Change at the restaurant, though to be honest, when food is THIS good, it's better to control your portions! My husband goes here for his lunch break and has been raving about how good it is. On a Saturday we were out and about and he brought me here. He was right, it was delicious! I got a pulled pork smoked MACwhich and he got the Lil Piglet. The only thing I wasn't super impressed with was the bread but they are a bbq joint not a bakery. The service was friendly, funny guy he obviously recognized my husband and the banter was jolly. The atmosphere was clean and fun to look at, big tvs and good music. BBQ in the PNW is rarely anything to celebrate, so I was happy to find something unique in Tumwater. It was just a sandwich for lunch, but the meat was tender and full of flavor and the overall composition of the sandwich worked really well. They were out of damn near everything we wanted. What we did end up getting was Luke warm and greasy. It was gross, the kid running the place was very sweet and apologetic, but the food was nasty and I think I heard him say "I am sorry we are out of that". At least 10 times. read more

I believe BBQ sauce is for a bad or over cooked/dry piece of meat. Was in town on business and really wanted some BBQ. Not something this area is known for, but I was determined to find me some. Hit the Yelp search and up pops this place less than a mile from where I was, menu looked interesting so let's go get me some. Menu has a lot of great favorites and options. Jave it your way!! Interesting enough,I choose Brisket Nachos and I have to say, YUM. Chips were home made, fresh crispy and tasty. The Brisket moist, flavorful and just the right amount of fat and smoke flavor. For the nachos, they use a a good mix of chunks and shredded. I took it to go back to the hotel, so they packaged it in a build at home mode. Seperate containers for meat, cheese, salsa, black beans and Jalapeño. That allowed my chips to stay crip and not get soggy before I was ready to eat. Nice touch. Now I want to go back and try the ribs. If they are anything like the Brisket, they will have hit another home run. Go get ya some. read more

We were really looking forward to a great BBQ dinner based on the reviews. I am not sure if we were here on an "off" night (10/30/2025) or what, but there wasn't one item that we ordered that was edible. The brisket and ribs were so overcooked that they needed to be drowned in sauce just to choke them down. The sides of beans and Mac & Cheese both tasted like they had been sitting all day. The service was spot on - the gentleman behind the counter (loved his custume) was so friendly and welcoming. Again, based on the reviews, maybe they was a bad night. We had our first lunch at "The Pig". Ribs were great. The Brisket is a lean brisket but still good. The 2 shocking items were the beans and the jalapeno cornbread muffin. Absolutely delicious! Add the friendly service & BBQ ambiance, the decision to come again was easily made. read more

The service here was great, a young girl took our order at the counter and let us kind of take a moment since it was our first time there. The interior was clean, albeit empty but that's probably because it was just after the lunch hour. I'm a southern girl, and my husband is from Virginia...so maybe we are a little harsh when it comes to BBQ (there aren't a lot of good choices for BBQ in our area here in WA), but we both felt like the food wasn't worth it. I ordered a bbq baked potato with pulled pork and everything on top minus tomatoes, and my husband got a sandwich (the pig) with a side of mac n cheese and a smoked sausage. My baked potato was soggy...and not from the toppings. It's almost as if the potato was boiled first and THEN baked? It was mushy/gummy rather than the fluffy texture I'd expect from a baked potato. It's possible that maybe it was just overcooked while wrapped in foil in the oven??...I tried to salvage it with some salt and pepper but I just honestly couldn't eat it and ultimately ended up throwing 95% of it away...I even tried to just eat the toppings but I couldn't eat all of it...and I hate wasting food. My husband's Mac and cheese was ok but it was obvious that it had been sitting for a while or it came from the bottom of the pan/pot. Definitely didn't look like the pictures. He said his sandwich was pretty good at least, and the sausage was standard. I will say that their sauces are delicious though! We loved all of the ones we tried, we got them on the side just to be safe and we are glad we did so we could sample them all. Loved the Carolina gold and my husband liked the flaming hot bbq sauce! It's possible that we came on a bad day, and it might be worth a second try on their pork belly burnt end days, but I was pretty disappointed in how a simple baked potato left such a bad taste in my mouth. read more

We had The Flaming Pig BBQ at our summer party and they were fantastic! I'm a vegetarian, so I don't usually get excited about BBQ, but their jackfruit-stuffed baked potato was delicious--seriously one of the best I've had. I also loved the smoky mac and cheese. My first time here and I do love a good bbq. I ordered the two meat combo and it comes with two sides and choice of bread. My wife had the brisket sandwich and a side of fried pickles. First thing is the brisket was good the sausage was good I have had better but it wasn't bad. The big score the sides were amazing so I had the coleslaw and the baked beans they were sold out of the garlic green beans and I got the last portion of the beans. We were offered a side that was made but not sold which was either made by mistake or not picked up either way it was free and it was deep fried avocado. This place is incredible! We decided to try them out on a whim, since we're not from the area and I'm so glad we did. We were able to get a couple of the rib combo platters so that we could taste some sides too - we got the beans, red potato salad, coleslaw, mac and cheese, and the jalapeno cheddar cornbread muffins. Everything was DELICIOUS. We ate every single bite, and even finished off the sweet barbecue sauce and Carolina Gold that came with it. Each side was well seasoned and a perfect serving, and the ribs are served dry and super tender - the meat is flavorful with or without sauce, it's that good. The food sat well in our stomachs after too, which is often hard to find because so many places go heavy on the salt or grease nowadays. Not here! Genuinely one of the most disappointing experiences I've had with going out to eat. The ambiance was non-authentic but perfectly acceptable. Various country and sports memorabilia decorated the sterile orange walls. It reminded me of the "southern section" of a Hobby Lobby. The service was fine. the server was nice, but the wait for the food was long, especially given what we got. The "BBQ Brisket Nachos" seemed like a bad joke. Basic tortilla chips, a cheese sauce with little flavor, limply sloshed over like an air strike of sogginess. The brisket placed on top was clumped together in the middle. The meat was made into oversized cubic chunks like a sad Stonehenge. The meat itself was dry, with little to no flavor, and so dry that biting into it was a challenge fit only for the masochistic or truly brave. That was it. Chips, cheese sauce, plain brisket. No jalapeños, red onion, corn, green onion, beans, nothing else. Practically a Lunchable. The "lemon dill coleslaw" barely had any lemon or dill flavor or any flavor at all! I doubt they salted or peppered it. The selection of four BBQ Sauces was all misses, maybe half a hit with the original BBQ that just tasted like a slightly worse Sweet Baby Ray's. The other three were much worse. The Lil Piglet sandwich was supposed to be beef brisket and smoked Mac and cheese on a roll; however, there was absolutely no smoked flavor in the entire sandwich. The sandwich was so dry since there was no sauce and so cold that even adding the BBQ Sauce to the sandwich did not alleviate how difficult it was to eat. So, I've tried hundreds and reviewed many BBQ places first the ribs: this had great smoke rings, very deep however the flavor, was ... not overwhelming definitely not bad and was good but the sauce did add flavor, I also believe the brisket had the same seasoning and the white sauce also helped these... it's good BBQ and you're going to enjoy this, I had a great citrus beer that cut right thru the BBQ .. the service was good too but the guy behind the counter didn't really speak BBQ, great guy, very pleasant and accommodating but I was nerding out and have great passion for BBQ and Food in general the ambiance was as good as most BBQ joints so you're in good hands I rate this at 3.75 which is solid good stuff read more

Just ordered half rack of ribs and 2 meat combo plate for pick-up...as you can see from my many photos I wasn't too thrilled. Before all of this was the rude way I was talked to on the phone, I was quick to let them know it's my 1st time ordering from them. But was rushed as if to stay true to their signage "Open til we run out". It's 2pm on a weekday, sorry you have better things to do that be polite to your customers. I was even asked when I was going to be there to pick up my food? Aren't you supposed to let me know when it will be ready? I felt weird about even picking it up at all, because I feel everything wouldn't be fresh... And so I pick it up and get home...the menu said it comes with 6 bones for a half rack or ribs, what I got was a pile or rib meat with a few bones tossed in, how do I know if I got exactly 6 ribs worth of meat? I feel cheated because nowhere on their menu does it say pre-sliced and compared to similar orders and photos, others got 6 full bone-in ribs. The sides were nothing special, potatoes were undercooked and didn't really feel I got cheesy potatoes, just some potato cubes in some weird sauce. Mac and cheese was fine, the pulled pork was decent, kielbasa sausage was bland. For the price, I don't feel I got my money's worth at all, especially with how I was treated and with what I camr home with. I will not be returning...hopefully they will reach out but until then, proceed with caution. read more
