I recently went back to this place to once again try their amazing food. I gotta say that I'm once again very satisfied! Food, once again, is very good. I had General Tso's & Crab Rangoon. So Delicious! All provided at a very reasonable price. Also, the employees who run/own this place are very friendly and nice to you, you can't really go wrong on either end! Flaming Wok has always been one of my top choices in Madison for chinese food(I've lived here my whole life, so a long time!), and you can definitely not go wrong here! I guess the only real down side is if you want to sit down and eat. Although they do have a few tables to sit down at, you are basically sitting at the counter. There is no separation of order area and sit down area. It doesn't really bother me much, but I could see people being "put off" by this. Don't expect this to be a sit down restaraunt with their severely limited tables! If you don't care about that (as I usually don't, take out for the win!), this place is the place to go! read more

Best take out Chinese in East Madison. Food is always fresh and well cooked. Sometimes you have to make sure they didn't forget the rice - mainly when the woman who typically works the front counter is not there. I have always found the service to be friendly. Periodically, I have even received free chicken dumplings or a soda. By far the best Moo Shu I have found in Madison after living here for 15 years and trying several of the more upscale places in town. They have the best egg rolls I have ever tried. All food is fresh and made from scratch. Large portions and low prices made this a no-brainer. A very large menu, which you can modify to your tastes. read more

I used to love this place. The owners were nice and would always be quick & friendly & the orders were accurate. The last 2 times in the past few months I didn't get what I ordered and it was over an hour for delivery. Tonight I ordered 3 items. They said 45 minutes, they arrived an hour & 15 minutes later. I tipped 25% anyway because I know it sucks to be busy. The only thing I actually cared about- egg drop soup, wasn't in the bag. I called right away and they told me that I should maybe try again next time. What?!! I told them that they need to bring it because I paid for it already. They said 15 minutes. 45 minutes later (total of 2 hours since I started the order) they still weren't there. We just had an incredible experience with this little establishment. Two evenings ago, we ordered our food online. We paid and tipped the delivery guy in cash, and enjoyed our wonderful meal as always. Just another routine after a busy day. The next evening, to our surprise, this gentleman showed up again, this time to inform us that our meal from the previous evening had already been charged online. He came all the way just to return the cash we had given him from the previous evening!! Such integrity, such honesty!! When a business, or when someone goes out of the way to be kind, honest, and super considerate of their customers, it is like a balm for our battered souls. Although the staff was friendly and the language was not a barrier for me as it was for others, the food I got was not very good. After I ordered the General Tso's Chicken, the woman turned on the fryer and, without waiting for the oil to heat up, she put in the chicken and my crab rangoon. Therefore, when I ate the food it wasn't crispy as a good General Tso's/crab rangoon should be. Another thing that I noticed was that the chicken that she put in the fryer was sitting on the counter in the heat. *note: she hadn't fried any in quite some time which is why she had to turn the fryer on. The person that said the food was too sweet was right. Even though the menu said *spicy for my meal, there was no "zip" at all. Take it for what it's worth, but I know I will be looking for another restaurant to get my take out from now on. read more

I enjoy this place everytime I go in there. Its family owned and has consistently good food. Large soda selection with awesome crab rangoon. My favorite dish is the Happy family which has beef, pork, chicken, crab, and veggies in brown sauce. read more

So I would possibly give it better reviews but nothing really tastes that great when eating it cold with your fingers. Biggest tip I could give this restaurant is when you get an order to deliver to a hotel would be to give them utensils!!! Especially if they request them! If people ask for a fork it isn't to cost you extra it is so we can actually eat the food you bring. read more

I have been working on the east side of Madison and trying to find a good Chinese place nearby. I tried this place and was disappointed. I ordered online and asked for my food to be very spicy. What I got was a large portion of very bland food. Don't offer very spicy as an option if you are not going to live up to it. read more

I moved to the East side of Madison May of 2014. I usually order the same thing everywhere I go, 1 sesame chicken, 1 cashew chicken and a triple delight with garlic sauce. I love this combo and feeds me for days! :) When I first moved and found the Flaming wok I loved it, I loved that they had the "crispy" sesame chicken because I love my chicken to be extra crispy...even almost chewy. For the first year I would order maybe every other month give or take and always enjoyed it. Somewhere after about a year of ordering there the food changed tremendously. I don't know if they have a new cook or new owners but the food is repulsive to me. I have given it 4 chances just thinking it was just a bad batch...we all have that experience and I am pretty hopeful that it was just a moment and not standards were set lower. The meat seems fatter and grittier in the sesame chicken and the flavor I loved in the cashew chicken and triple delight seems off. Each time I had spent over $30 in food and you are to get a free item and they always seemed to forget the free item or when you put it in your cart it charges you regardless, out of those last 4 deliveries I only received 1 egg roll, that is part of the combo's package. The people and delivery people are always friendly but the food has taken a dive and I am terribly disappointed in the quality of food in the last year....there will be no 5th chance, as a matter of fact my experience here has made me disgusted at the very thought of Chinese food I haven't touched it in 6 months....yes it is that bad! I hope they get back to better standards for quality food but for me unfortunately I won't be going back there! read more

I ordered food for delivery online and the confirmation message said it would take 55-75 minutes. I thought this was a long time but I was willing to wait. I waited 90 minutes, but the food hadn't arrived. I called the restaurant to see if the order was out for delivery. The lady who answered the phone didn't speak much English. She asked me what I had ordered quite a few times and I patiently repeated the order. After a while, she was yelling to someone in the back, she asked for my phone number. I provided it as it seemed like she was going to look up the order I had placed. After she took my number she said she'll place the order now and hung up on me. At this point, I wasn't willing to wait to any longer and was going to pick up something to eat. I called back to tell her to cancel, but no one answered the phone. I'm off to pick something up to eat right now - I hope they don't show up while I'm gone. read more
