Nice place, stopped for a beer before hitting the road north. Clean, had a good staff and the young lady tending bar was a delight.

In the heart of downtown, find this quaint Irish Pub for a casual meal with friendly service, good food, beer and drinks; we came during Art Prize 2021. Was special having the BBQ smoker in front of the restaurant, so you knew their meats were freshly made! Daily food specials available, plus a regular menu variety. Overall, a 4.0 rated experience; service was a bit slower that day with a city-wide event, but the food, drinks, people watching and friendly atmosphere were worth it! Expect meal costs of $10-18pp. Enjoyed their house-made battered Fish-n-Chips and the Irish Cuban today. The Atlantic Cod was tender and batter crunchy; 3 fish filets with hush puppies and fries were excellent, plenty to share - and tasted great with Malt Vinegar and Tartar Sauce for dipping. The Irish Cuban was an excellent sandwich with tender meat combo of Pulled Pork and Corned Beef, cheese, spicy mustard and pickles on a pressed hoagie roll served with a side - yum! Flanagan's is a perfect spot in downtown for a casual lunch or drink. I'd try it again on my next visit to GR. Enjoy!

Matthew was THE BEST part of being here!

Unplanned, impromptu visit to this bar for drinks-only late on a Saturday night. We came in after midnight, and I was on a first date (slightly nervous but doing my best to hide it), and Matthew the bartender was so friendly. His smile was sweet and his drinks were strong -- and the fact that he's as cute as Post Malone doesn't hurt, either!!! The only downside to the experience was the woman repeatedly *shouting* at people to clear out of the bar at 1:45 AM when it's supposed to be open until 2:00 AM. She did it 2-3 times, verrrrrry rudely. Hence my 4-star review. (Otherwise it would've been 5 stars.)

I've been here a few times previously. Not a bad little Irish bar right down town. Rueben was good and on dark rye. My dad had the Irish Cuban. Sounded good on paper but just wasn't quite there in flavor.

Yes, I'm Irish, so maybe I'm a little biased, but I really like this place! For one, they have Guinness draught! Not the canned stuff they serve everywhere else that you can buy at the grocery store. Give me a real Guinness on tap and I'm a happy camper. On Thursdays and Sundays they have live Irish music, which I absolutely love! A group gets together in one of the front sections and it feels so authentically Irish. I appreciate this so much more than traditional live music (which they do also have on other nights). After having visited Dublin I love that they have a televised live stream of Temple Bar in Dublin. A gimmick, but I think it's a great touch! The bartender has been awesome every time I visit. He always remembers my group, and is prompt and friendly. The servers at the tables have been ok, but not exceptional. I definitely prefer to sit at the bar if seats are available. I do like how many high top tables they have. The food is acceptable, but not great. It's pretty standard bar food. I've had the boxty, Blarney sticks, soft pretzels, and nachos. I really like the Blarney sticks, though I don't get them often since I try not to eat fried food. Typically I'm there after dinner time so I don't order an entree. I need to go for a meal to try the Irish Plates. If you want an actual, proper pint of Guinness definitely stop in!

Grilled chicken Caesar wrap

What the hell did I just eat? When you only have 10 things on the menu, you're "out of pulled pork and gravy" I decided on the grilled chicken Caesar wrap. We waited nearly an hour (mid-week during lunch) for what looked like petrified chicken in a wrap. I couldn't even finish it.

Flanagan's are all Over the globe and you can never go wrong with stepping in to get a quick drink and saying hi to your irisH bartender. Our group stopped in for drinks while we waited for the Grand Rapids Hungry Hippo social event for 2020. Bartenders were polite and hospitable. Beautifully decorated on the inside and the drinks are always made well. I've never actually ordered food at a Flanagan's but at some point I probably should. Till next time.

ONLY BAR IN GR WITH AUTHENTIC IRISH COFFEE!!! We've been on a hunt for a place that actually makes a real Irish coffee and this is pretty much the only bar we've found that has one. Other than that, this is a pretty standard Irish Pub with slightly above average food and FANTASTIC service. Every time I've been I've had amazing and friendly service. They do have live music during the weekend nights which is a hit! It is definitely well lit and a good stop on your downtown bar tour on the weekends!!

In fact, my kids laughed at my wife when she got a salad and wasn't overly impressed "Mom, why would you get a salad at a place with great burgers?!?" My thoughts exactly. The service is decent, the space is comfortable for a downtown spot on Monroe Center. When I visit, I focus solely on the burgers and I've never been disappointed. The 'Meat Wagon', topped with ribeye, ham and bacon just wants to cuddle your belly from the inside. The 'Otto Von Burger' topped with a fried egg and bacon is one of the best examples of its kind. The 'Alabamer' is great when you're craving pulled pork and bacon on your burger. If you just want a traditional burger, you have that option and won't be disappointed. Also, the loaded fries are solid, but personally, I would pass on the fancier offerings. Remember: Burgers over fancy apps and skip the salads and you'll be fine.

Not too rich or sweet. This place is definitely worth a stop if you are downtown!

First and foremost, the inside feels like a dive bar (complete with the stale beer smell), but the patio is quirky, fresh, and fun with dogs allowed- lending to a lighter and brighter feel. We snagged a table and chairs that were mostly clean; the server came rather quickly and (though towering in stature) was very quick, adept, and patient with us while ordering. We committed to splitting the crab Rangoon appetizer, the burger special: pimento cheese double smash burger with bacon jam upgraded to fries, and 3 (yes three!) Farmhaus Bloom's to wash it all down. Everything was spectacular. The Farmhaus bloom was my first taste of a delicious blueberry cider lemonade with a splash of lavender that reminded me of a liquid sour jolly rancher. It was deliciously addicting. lol. The burger was also incredible. I'm not that into burgers, but I dare say this was an art form. I would definitely come back and try some more. The crab Rangoon appetizer was fun and a great shareable with the table. Our waiter showed up at the perfect times... truly a master of his craft and would casually ask if we needed a refill. Very on vibe. Overall, I find Logan's Alley to be a local watering hole with surprisingly excellent food. They are actually living up to the term gastropub without even the slightest bit of pretentiousness detected. Very refreshing! It's certainly not a vibe I'd take my kids to, but I would def come back with friends or just the hubby... and with food this good it'll be hard to stay away.

Ummmm. I think the best in town. Try these with extra shredded cheese. No beer cheese. Yummmmread more

But there's so much untapped potential, I've visited Maggie's several times the last few years. 75% of the visits it's very quiet, the fryer isn't working and at times the service isn't great. As a queer person, it doesn't give the same vibe as other advertised queer bars in the area. I visited the other evening, given it was snowy and gross, Vito was amazing and tentative as well as Marcus. But again, no food and very quiet for a karaoke night. It seems like there are a lot of regulars at Maggie's but everyone is friendly and welcoming. It took some time for our food to come out, but our server kept checking in with us to let us know when it should be coming out. I always appreciate that. I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich with fries and Nate got the turkey O'Toole, which comes on a pretzel bun. Our friend told us the fries were great, so of course I had to try those. (Fries are one of my favorite food groups!) The spicy chicken sandwich was ok, nothing special - we thought it seemed like a frozen GFS patty, but it tasted fine. The fries were definitely delicious! They were hand cut and pretty thick, perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. Really the ideal fry of this type. I usually prefer thinner fries but these were a 10/10. I had a few bites of Nate's turkey O'Toole, which I really liked! The pretzel bun was soft and tasty and the turkey wasn't dry. I'd definitely order that for myself next time. There's a ton of parking available around Maggie's, including a lot in front and right next to the building. It's a nice spot to hang out and enjoy time with friends, especially on the patio.

I've never had anything here but excellent food and service. I've grown addicted to their French Dip sandwich which is about as good as I've had anywhere. The bread is substantial enough to hold the copious amounts of au jus I dip it in without falling apart. Yet, it is not too heavy to overshadow the meat. I order this just about every time I go here. This time however, they had Korean fried chicken tacos as a special. My wife made me order it because she knows if I didn't, I'd be complaining all the way home. This item should become a regular. Wonderfully flavored chicken with Korean sauces and spices and vegetables in a usual taco set up, My wife became enamored with the Mediterranean salad which she says is the closest thing she's been able to find that resembles what she craves from Greece and Italy. She added chicken which was a generous portion so I sampled some and it was excellent. While waiting for lunch to arrive, I looked at the drink menu, specifically bourbons. Holiday has a impressive list and I was surprised to find even the hard to get, allocated bourbons were in stock and "reasonably" priced. We really have to put this restaurant much higher up in our thought process.

I used to eat at Applebee's a lot as a kid because it was one of the only restaurants in my small town, so it does have a bit of a nostalgia factor for me. The menu is large and has plenty of options. We were interested in the 2 for $25 option, where you can get an appetizer and two entrees or two side salads and two entrees for $25 (some options are an up charge). I got the bourbon street chicken and shrimp with broccoli and a side Caesar salad, and Nate got the new "O-M-Cheeseburger" with fries and a side Caesar salad. This burger is served cut in half in a pool of melted cheese. Yup that's right. Our salads came out quickly and were fresh and tasty. Our entrees were hot and pretty good, but VERY salty. I was surprised at how nicely done the chicken was (not dry or overcooked). I ended up having leftovers that I put on my own salad at home the next day. I was also pleasantly surprised at how tasty the burger was -- it was nicely cooked (medium) and juicy. Definitely not something I would eat regularly, but fun to try. I had to end the meal with a triple chocolate meltdown, which is one of my favorite desserts ever. It's a molten chocolate lava cake that I crave pretty often.
