O'Toole's is a well known Sunday Funday spot, but recently I've visited for lunch on a weekday as well as happy hour. The food menu is large and has a lot of great options (as well as a lot of fried food). They have great deals throughout the week and their happy hour is excellent. I love it when happy hour also includes discounts on food! For happy hour recently, Nate and I sat at the bar and ordered the Reuben spring rolls and fried shrimp. The Reuben spring rolls are so good - lots of corned beef and tangy sauerkraut. I'd order these every time. The shrimp were tasty as well, but a smaller portion (which was okay since we were eating a lot of fried food that day). Our other visit for lunch was also great, with quick and kind service and tasty food. I got the rancher's wrap, which was toasted and tasty, and the tots were hot and fresh. I don't spend a ton of time on Bridge Street these days, but I'd suggest this spot for happy hour with friends. read more

I have always loved it at O'Toole's! When it not a packed Friday/Saturday night, it is really cool being able to sit inside or out on the patio The waitstaff is always wonderful! This is the first time I've gone for lunch though! And I was very impressed. I got pretzel bites with cheese, and a Buffalo chicken sandwich. Both of which were very good! I had never really heard anything about their food from any friends, and I've only been there for drinks, so I didn't know what to expect. Of course their drinks are always good, and everything is very reasonably priced! I love parking behind O'Toole's in the public lot for anything on Bridge St. It's only $4 for all day and only one block behind the main road. Great place at night for people in their 20's low 30's. During the day its great for all ages. This is deff a place that's most busy at night on bridge st. Only thing i will say is there's not much seating for big groups and it's SOOO loud!!! Most of the time there's a line later at night so make sure to get there before 9ish :). We came here on a Saturday for game day not knowing about the game day deals and leaving full and happy! $10 burger baskets $2 off beers on game days. We also got an Arnold Palmer which was amazing and deviled eggs which were good and affordable. Service was great, pricing was great, food was good enough! The servers and bartenders here are excellent. I've never eaten here, but the atmosphere is top-notch along with a great beer list. They have a nice large patio section, as well. Friday and Saturday nights are crazy busy. My biggest complaint is with the bathroom. read more

I was here around the holidays and had a burger here with my cousin and her boyfriend before we went bowling. The burger was so good here, I told my cousin the next day when I'm back in town we HAVE to come back here again! So here we are about 5 months later and I was so looking forward to a cheeseburger that Friday afternoon but only to arrive there to find out they opened at 4:00. It was okay, we managed to have lunch elsewhere and decided to come by the next day for an early dinner before heading to a Whitecaps game. The weather was so nice we decided to sit outside and ordered some beers. While going over the menu, I noticed that the menu where the burgers were listed looked different like it changed but not by much. When I ate here last their burgers came with some kind dijonnaise and this time it said dijon aioli. Now you're thinking what's the difference it's the same thing. I get it, however the dijonnaise was like a grainy mustard was used and really enjoyed it because I am not a big mayonnaise person by any means. So I decided to go with the aioli on the side and use a little to my liking. Like the 1st time around and this time, the burger never disappointed! Burger was juicy, well seasoned along with the hot crispy hand-cut fries. As always, I ordered pickles and dressed it up with ketchup, mustard and a little of the djion aioli. Im in town visiting for work and I must say they have the best Sangria's ive ever had. I'm not sure if I was eating really fast or if the food was really hot from the time I stared eating until my last bite! Everything tasted great. My server Alley was on her first day and she did amazing. Very knowledgeable of the menu and when she wasn't sure about particular items she asked another sever. Brad showed amazing levels of expertise and professionalism regarding all things customer service related. No matter what circumstances Brad was put through he always came out shining on top. Packed Irish bar. Standing room only. It is what it is. Not a place for the family and kids, but a nice spot to watch the game or hang out with your friends. The service was fast and impressive for how loud and packed the place was. We didn't eat and I really wouldn't have wanted to with how packed it was in there. read more

For years I have enjoyed O'Tooles for drinks and food. Lastnight a friend and I went for a drink amd an appetizer. The food was tiny for the price. The tot nachos had a total of 10 tots and barely covered a layer of the small bowl they were in. The "burger" appeared to be a burnt hamburger patty broken apart. The happy hour menu listed a snack size, I can't even imagine how small that is. The deep fried pickles had more random items and batter in the bowl than pickles. This pub was really good. I'll start with the service. It was really good and the bartender did a great job making the drinks. They also had a great selection of beers and cocktails. We got some appetizers and they were amazing. The Ruben egg rolls are a must. The flavor was amazing and you can tell they were made from scratch. This place is the only place you need to know about going out in GR. The atmosphere, the drinks, the food, the service and the good times are top tier. You can't ask for a better place to hang out with the brothers over a few drinks and good laughter than O'Tooles. Everything about this place screams "that was a great night because of O'Tooles." I have not been here in some time but always remember having good service and amazing food. This time the food did not disappoint - it was good bar food. The service left much to be desired. The place was not busy at all. However, this allowed our server to pay more attention to what appeared to be a table to friends instead of the customers. To the point that she would stop and chat with them instead of placing an order and rushing just to go back and chat more with them. Sad - as I may not return - although I am a sucker for tots! This is your typical Irish pub. Nothing too special about it but a great place to go out on a Friday or Saturday night! They have awesome happy hour specials and a killer special on Bloody Marys on the weekends if you're into bloody marys. A very nice atmosphere here. From the wooden tables with people carving their initials to the general feel of community. I went on a Saturday when they have half price wings. So I ordered the bbq chipolte ones. However I went here because they made a list of places with great hamburger. I ordered a burger with pulled pork and aged white cheddar cheese. While the burger was no Stellas it was very good. Sometimes when you get pulled pork on a burger it detracts from both. Not this, the burger and pork were both juicy. The fries also very good. Nice and thick fries. As for the wings while the chipolte bbq wasn't quite what I was expecting it too was very good. Not 1 thing was less than very good. The service was exceptional. Overall a Solid 4 1/2 stars. Sadly I have to round. It's not a 5, that is the only reason it is getting 4 stars. read more

Stopped in on a Wednesday night and we were able to score a table by the windows that open onto Bridge St. Got some beers and munched on peanuts and watched the hussle of bridge st. We ordered and the food came out in a decent amount of time. 3 out of 4 got burgers, and the main complaint was the size. We all felt that Otools in the past had HUGE, mouthwatering burgers. These were small and just blah. I ordered medium and it was well... which they all were. Leads me to believe these are from frozen patties?! Kind of sad since this was always our GO TO burger place! Side note, they do have high chairs for kids! Were they bad? No. Were they out of this world? No. Just meh. read more

The food and service was phenomenal. It is a very comfortable space as you get peanuts and throw the shells on the ground. All the furniture in there is made out of wood and the bar feel is real. The pretzels and beer cheese dip (spicy) was sensational and the Bridge St. Bomber Burger was amazing with BBQ sauce. The fries and beer cheese dip are quite amazing as well along with the California Turkey Sandwich. I will be back to this place SOON. Found this place as we were hungry and nothing was open. Luckily this was. I got the bridge burger which was seasoned and cooked perfectly and came with a side of peppered fries. My wife on the other hand got the grilled cheese, which was a huge disappointment. Perhaps grilled cheese is made differently here, but I'm used to nice bread, oozing cheese, and a warm feeling. Hers was nicely fried white bread with what seemed like one slice of American (perhaps chedder) cheese, a tomato, some grilled onions, and what we believe to be cream cheese...yes you heard right. It wasn't bad...per se, but it wasn't what we were expecting. We had a side of tots (tater tots, not babies) which were awesome. To be fair, the hunger was gone when we left. read more

This evening I came into town and went to Otoole's to watch the NBA finals game. I ordered a drink then closed out with my server to move to the bar to get a better view of the game. Immediately upon seating we were asked "you are at the bar are you going to order another drink" she continued to pressure us to order another drink even though we had one in our hands. About 30 mins later she said to us "you are at the bar, the least make yourselves smaller or you can stand behind the chairs" She would never say this to a group of men. We immediately left after this rude and sexist behavior. The pressuring to continue drink, even of our DD was unacceptable and made us uncomfortable. The bar was by no means crowded and we were not taking seats that people needed. As someone who used to work in the service industry and came back into town looking forward to visiting OTooles again. We stumbled in here accidentally assuming it was actually the Butcher's Union! By the time we realized it was a totally different restaurant we had already decided what we wanted from the menu so we were set on trying it out. It's a seat-yourself layout when you walk in, it's a little cramped but to be expected from a pub near downtown on the weekend. It was VERY dark inside so it was a bit difficult to read the menu. We were serviced in a reasonable time, our waitress was polite. We ordered the Reuben sandwich w/ chips and a build your own burger with ground turkey w/ fries. I enjoyed having the option to pick a leaner option of meat than just beef. There were 3 bartenders handling the bar on a Sunday night so that in itself which was nice to see, nobody was waiting around to be attended to. There are bowls of peanuts on the tables so we munched on those while we waited for our food. Our food came out in a timely fashion and we were pretty impressed with the quality for a bar. The seasoning on the fries was delicious but the chips tasted pretty bland. For having mistook this place for a different establishment we had a pretty good experience. The biggest negative is that because there's peanuts available to every table, the floor ends up having peanut shells sprawled all over the place. You couldn't walk anywhere without crushing peanuts, the staff seemed too busy with the evening crowd to do anything about it (assuming they can and don't just wait until close to handle it). The bathroom could have used some attention also. I'd come here again if someone suggested it, would I go out of my way to eat here? Probably not. I don't drink so take my review with a grain of salt, the bar scene is not my forte. I came here solely for the food, which was good but nothing to write home about. read more
