Visited Flat Creek last weekend and was pleasantly surprised. Started out with the catfish bites for an appetizer. They were absolutely delicious and they gave you a lot of them. For the main entree I went with the country fried steak, green beans, and mashed potatoes with gravy. They were also excellent. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere and was very clean. Service was also on point. Only minor complaint I have is the selection of soft drinks was a bit disappointing but nothing I couldn't live with. I definitely look forward to returning one day. read more

We had lunch today. I ordered the catfish lunch basket. The fish was okay, but not as good as real catfish. My French fries were barely warm and were tough because they weren't fresh. And hush puppy was not quite done cooking. It was a little doughy inside. The service was a little slow. I have to say we used to frequent this restaurant, but their quality is not where it used to be. The last 3 times we visited our food wasn't near as good as it used to be. read more

My mom lives in Republic and goes to Flat Creek all of the time. She wanted us to check it out while visiting from Denver. She handed us her take out menu she has at home for us to glance over. Oh man! Their menu is HUGE. They have anything and everything you want. I don't think anyone would have a problem finding something on the menu for them. I went with their fried chicken meal that comes with mashed potatoes and gravy, bacon green beans, cole slaw and a roll. You better be hungry. Each plate is packed with a ton of food. The chicken was cooked perfectly and had a nice flavor on the breading. The green beans were absolutely amazing. Talk about packed with flavor from the bacon and garlic. The mashed potatoes were okay. Tasted a little bland to me. The cole slaw was sweet. I like sweet cole slaw so I enjoyed it, but some people hate it that way so to each his own. It was so much food that my mom took the rest home for leftovers since we were flying back. Our server was phenomenal. I think his name was Andre... I might be wrong. He is a Raiders fan from Cali. Great guy! Great conversation and he took our whole complicated order for 4 people without writing anything down and everything was correct. That guy was awesome! Great place. Be hungry! read more

The atmosphere is awesome, service was also very good. Pricing on food was affordable, with large serving sizes. The catfish was some of the best I've had, also had the lobster dip appetizer and that was yummy! We had the pork tenderloin home cookin meal. It was huge! Flat Creek is a southern restaurant with massive portions and home style food options. Pros: - Generous portions - Food is always hot and tastes great (while not very healthy) - Eclectic atmosphere with old time decorations Cons: - Restaurant is always freezing inside, making it hard to sit and enjoy your meal - During COVID 19 pandemic, waiters were not wearing masks properly. Our waitress was fine, but another one nearby barely has a mask up over his mouth and it didn't reach his nose. Management needs to ensure the team is all wearing masks consistently and properly - Tables and booths should be cleaned better in between guests. read more

First impression is fabulous: lg space filled 8pm Friday, still seated quickly; server very friendly seemed glad to see us; great beverage selection but why is $5 for a beer & 2.50 for iced tea now normal pricing? Group of 4 spent $20 on a round. Huge menu, all mouthwatering choices. Food delivered in 15 mins tasted superb: Broasted Chicken extraordinarily full of moist tender slightly briny flavor; Pork Loin overflowed the plate with downhome smothered in white gravy goodness; seafood bisque rich in flavor and great mouthfeel. Service at this establishment is dropping rapidly. Wait staff continuously messes up orders, and forgets to bring food to your table that you have ordered. Food portions are shrinking, and up charges popping up on every little item. Even had our credit card used to pay for another customers meal by accident. read more

I went for the first time today based on a recommendation for their fried chicken as that is my thing. My other thing though is a good fried catfish. They had both, so I had to get a mix basket with a side of rings. The verdict on the chicken was pretty good, at about a seven or eight out of ten (my standards are higher than real estate prices in California) and the rings were really good, with a thick cut sweet onion lightly breaded with what almost tasted like a Cajun spice. Not a taste I was prepared for in an onion ring and while I couldn't pin down the flavor they were very good and I will definitely order them again. The cat fish was the show stopper. Lightly breaded, tender filets that came out steamy and tasted so good that they went down just as fas as I could cram them into my mouth. They do an all you can eat catfish day I read on their menu. Now that I know this I am sad for these poor bastards cause I am going to make it my mission to put them out of business one plate at a time. Nom Nom Nom! read more

My husband and I dine at Flat Creek regularly. Though we love the food there are issues with the food being not very hot. We've basically just tolerated, because we don't like to EVER complain. However, we brought friends in with us to dine, and again the food was basically room temp. The burger ordered for the young girl was rare. I did ask the waitress to please have it cooked until done. I did not ask for a manager because again I hated to bother him. Anyway, I decided today after the fact to speak via phone with Mike the manager. He basically accused me of telling a lie. We'd finally had enough and just wanted Mike to be aware. All I can say is I'm not a liar and was not seeking any restitution. We have decided that with a less than great track record we will no longer be regulars. I'll miss my less than hot country fried steak. Thank you. read more

Had to run to Springfield for business and my parents told me about this restaurant, being in my old city growing up I had to give it a shot. My wife had the BBQ burger, which was awesome and had a great smoked flavor, I had the Country fries steak which for the most part was good, the meat was tough in the center so I was unable to eat that section, the potatoes and green beans were great! Ok hold up, my mom told me about this place, and I was like "ok, can't wait"! I'm disappointed with the options on the kids menu.... So I do and do not recommend.If you don't like dark chicken, do jot reccomend. Their waiters took like 20-30 minutes which is good. They have some great menu items- BBQ, catfish, fried chicken, crab legs, nachos & tasty sides. I opted for the catfish and fried chicken plate. I really enjoyed the fried chicken. My catfish could have been crispier & cooked a bit longer (4 stars). The slaw, okra & green beans were just what I expected and very tasty. Service was great & the crew was friendly. Been here a couple times. Catfish good, chicken good, coleslaw good. Sorry, but the bbq is BAD. Brisket mostly fat with zero smoke flavor, dried out ribs and grocery store BBQ sauce. Stick with the good stuff. Leave the BBQ to the pros. Also I don't care for the white gravy. Taste like it has Bacos in it. So if that sounds good to you go ahead. Tow and a half stars - loved our server but the food was only ok. We celebrated my mil's 89th birthday tonight. Our server was quite patient and helpful. Appetizers were fried pickles and fried green tomatoes and they were ok, not a lot of flavor beyond fried. We ordered pulled pork - also not very flavorful. We did ask for more bbq sauce and that helped. We also ordered the crab legs with a baked potato side - it seemed microwaved, gummy - and green beans.
