Tried again, way too pricy for what you get Been to way too many breakfast spots, so much so that I've run out of local spots to try. So decided to give another go to some places that need another try. The space inside is decorated well, it's very homey and plenty of tables. The server was very nice and had recommendations when asked. I opted for the raspberry beignets and the bananas foster French toast. Food came out quickly, and I took my pics and dug in. The raspberry beignets were pretty much donut holes covered in raspberry and vanilla sauce. The raspberry filling was there, but wasn't very pronounced. For 3 bucks a beignets, it's very expensive. But it was sweet enough and fried fresh. The observant will note that the French toast looks a lot like pancakes. They specify on the menu that you can choose either, but either I was never asked which I wanted or I failed to advocate for my preference. I decided to roll with it, since it could be a mistake from either end. Pancake batter was overworked, bananas were slightly warmed up but done so on the griddle. Picked up the onion funk from their home fries, leading to a rather unpleasant bite. Quality issues can be overlooked if the price is reasonable. For 28 dollars for two dishes, the price is way too high for what I got. As a local breakfast spot, there's not many around that area. If you need breakfast and are unwilling to drive another 5-10 minutes for other options, the food is okay and portions are reasonable. It's pricy, stick to the savory, and don't expect more than the basics.

This friendly bustling owner run spot is a sleepy gem, at least to us. A Facebook post caught our attention and we weathered the pretty snow to check it out. Upon entering, it was filled to capacity but as always, timing is everything and we got seated immediately in a cozy nook by the front door without even a whisper of a breeze from outside. Holiday decor makes the space festive with happy chatter throughout. The owner stopped by to introduce themselves, just the right amount of interaction for those who are not social butterflies. Now the food, home cooked goodness on a plate for all three items we tried. Steak tip eggs Benedict was perfectly cook, runny luscious yolk, seasoned Hollandaise sauce blanketing both eggs and accompanied by the tastiest tater tots. Flecked with seasoning, crispy outside with a fluffy interior, these were the highlight of the meal. Second dish was the red velvet pancake stack, 2 generous but not overwhelming cakes, topped with whipped cream, powder sugar dusted and flagged with a ginger bread cookie. The plate was also loaded with scrambled eggs, chunky home fries, sausage and an adorable melon slice. As we were nursing our drinks (coffee for me and soda for my BF), the owner dropped off a luxurious, still warm cinnamon roll, dolloped with a cream cheese frosting and what I believe was caramel drizzle. Decadent does not due it justice. We each took a bite and threw in the white flag of surrender, taking it home to indulge on later with an ice cold milk or a black coffee. We will definitely be back!

Always on the lookout for a good breakfast place, Flat Pennie's met that requirement. Located where another breakfast place had been (I can't recall the name), it is a welcome addition to the area. Service - outstanding. Food - so good. I had the Irish omelette - corned beef hash, spinach & hollandaise sauce. Came with hash browns which were good, but I like them a bit more spiced & toast. My husband had the western omelette which he said was very good. Coffee was good (not great) & strong which I do like. The restaurant is clean & inviting. So - we will be back

I was looking for comfort food and I found it! I had the tuna melt and sweet potato fries. Delicious choice. This lunch spot is rail road themed and has lots of pictures along those lines. The server was welcoming and friendly, attentive to our needs even though we didn't need much but a few extra napkins. Flat Pennies also serves alcoholic beverages and has a cozy fire place.

Yelp came through with another great breakfast recommendation while on our road trip! While traveling the 84 from Boston to NY, we ended up at Flat Pennies Kitchen. We had a breakfast appetizer of Bavarian Cream stuffed Churros.. DELICIOUS! We followed that up with JBs Biscuit and Gravy plate.. OMG.. Melt in your mouth goodness. Brittany was an excellent, quick and friendly server. Highly recommend stopping in if you're in the area!

Doesn't look like it, but this is Eggs Benedict -- and it's yummy! More generous portion of ham than I usually get, and I really liked it.

Stumbled upon this place on a road trip. We were HANGRY, googled "closest diner ASAP or else someone's gonna get hurt," and Flat Pennies came up. Boy are we glad it did! Awesome service; PACKED on a Saturday mid-day (we were lucky and got in before the line). Coffee was really good, as was our food. My friend had a short stack, sausage and poached eggs (I tried his pancakes and they were light and delicious); I had the eggs benedict. There wasn't a crumb left on either of our plates! Definitely plan to return now that we know about it and that it's not too far off the highway, but far enough off to be in a sweet li'l town.

Great atmosphere very friendly staff. Quick wait time and turn around. Delicious coffee. Raspberry beignets outstanding! Cross fit was light but filling. California eggs benny had nice crispy shredded hash browns topped with spinach tomato guacamole eggs and hollandaise. Delicious and filling. Service was exceptional! Will be back!

BTW - Turns out it's super close to Exit 68 off Route 84. So it shouldn't have taken me this long. I'd call Camille's pizza Modern Wood-Fired Thin Crust. I ordered one with pepperoni, sausage and fresh peppers as opposed to roasted ones (which is an option) for pickup. The restaurant was nice. If you're a Prince (the musician, not the one stripped of his title -- too soon?) fan you may love the purple hues. The crust was good chewy. I loved the pepperoni. They cupped and crisped, but in a slightly different visual way than many cup and crisp pepperoni. Very cool. Tasted great too. The fresh peppers ended up being red rather than green. This is a personal preference, but I prefer green. I like the flavor of the green juice better on a pizza. I also think the green color pops better since the sauce and pepperoni are both red. I liked the pizza, but I didn't love it. I couldn't figure out why at first. I think the primary reason was the sausage. It wasn't bad. I just didn't connect with the flavor. And also I prefer larger pieces, than the smaller crumbles Camille's used. If I had this pizza without the sausage, I would have liked it better. I do have a favorable impression of Camille's though. I would definitely return. 4.25 Stars

But I decided to give this place another trek to try. The inside hits all the expected coffee joint beats. Lots of exposed brick, wood tables and older style leather chairs. Exposed black metal accents and stainless steel order placards. The only beat they missed was the coffee bags displayed in some way as a eye-catcher Staff were...there. Wasn't the friendliest but they were very much bored teens just getting through their shift. I respect it, but it's not everyone's cup of joe. Got me their cardamom latte and a breakfast sandwich. Food came out relatively quick. The latte needed a little more cardamom flavor. It was there but light. It did help in tasting the coffee, cause usually whole milk, sweetener, and flavorings can mask the coffee easily. It's giv coffee, which is actually a very pleasant local roaster. Solid coffee, really strong chocolate notes without being artificial. The breakfast sandwich was good but basic. The avocado didn't have the brighter freshness one would hope for with a very strong cheese. So it pretty much was just cold mush with eggs. The English muffin was fresh but not toasted enough, so it was not structured enough to eat without causing a mess. Simple fixes, just salt the avocado (or don't mash it), toast the muffin a little longer, and it would be a very solid breakfast. For the area, versus other coffee establishments in that area, it's uncontested. It's good, but I can find better coffee in other places. Not trek worthy, but much more deserving of patronage than a chain shop.
