We have been there several times and the service is not very good. The bartenders are grumpy and the waitresses aren't far behind.

Waitress so obnoxious and rude we have to sit outside. We had a party of 10 we were going through a family emergency. Our first waitress was so sweet and was like you could push the tables together outside mind you their plastic tables. This waitress out of nowhere comes out there yelling at all of us that we can't do that we can't push furniture together. You can't smoke here where our other waitress actually gave us a cup. Told us to go extinguish it out in the yard. She was so embarrassing and insulting and then my family member tried to pull her side to hear us out . We're dealing with grieving and death. Can you please just not make a scene and she just made it louder I will never go to the establishment again. It is embarrassing. We paid for food we never got ! People have lost kindness, empathy, understanding, respect, do your job so because you don't want us to push plastic tables together, you'd rather lose the business right we have gone there for years. Tried again - My previous review still stands. The atmosphere is good, the food is lacking. Nothing was undercooked, but most of the food was frozen or packaged. The chili is hormel chili, the cheese is cheap american cheese, the onion rings and curly fries are bagged. It's not special, but it is fairly inexpensive for what you get. It's a place to get some cheap food quick in a bar-like atmosphere. read more

we didn't get to eat the food. our original server was amazing kind sweet accommodating but the other woman who not sure if she was a manager or head server was extremely combative. even though it was explained we were there for someone passing and had some additional people coming she "came in hot" about us not being able to move the outdoor tables to accommodate our party- she said she "didn't care why we were there" and we could not move the tables. I found this to be extremely unprofessional and very disheartening at a very vulnerable time for our family. probably will never go back due to the insensitivity of this person read more

The staff was so amazing and friendly!! And the patio was comfortable and beautiful views!! And for that we will come back and try other foods. The place was well packed and we noticed everyone ordering sandwiches and fries.... Hmmm maybe we should have done that... maybe next time. Today we started with dry run cajun wings, the wings were of decent quality and cooked well however there was no flavor - the dry rub did not stay on the wings, we asked for a side of the garlic parm and we got a bowl of butter with garlic paste at the bottom (not something you want to dip your wings in). The meatballs were definitely homemade, great texture but again no flavor. Much better when added salt and pepper. The sauce was very acidic. Lastly the pasta. Chicken was over cooked and the Alfredo sauce was broken, resulting in very oily sauce. So overall staff and locations were amazing - food not so much - but maybe we ordered the wrong stuff. Will go back and try sandwiches and fried. With all that said we will return and order sandwiches. read more

This cafe does a very good business and is open for lunch and dinner. They have music on saturday nights and last night was wonderful. The atmosphere is very happy and friendly, not only the staff but also the clientele. They have a large menu and lunch and dinner specials as well. They don't cater to any allergies but will certainly help guide you into what you may be able to eat. The food is very good and being gluten free, there are a few things on the menu that I lean toward. Once you go a few times and become a regular, it is definitely The place to go where everybody knows your name. read more

Really solid option for a town that doesn't have many restaurants! We sat outside on the patio The chairs are just plastic outdoor chairs but I appreciate they got the extra wide ones. They were some of the most spacious outdoor chairs I've seen at a restaurant, though they're plastic, so they're probably not rated for over 300lbs. Beautiful view from the patio, it was a really great spot. Prices were really reasonable. I had a Cesar salad which was just a pretty standard salad, entree size but not huge. Another person had some special fried chicken and cheddar sandwich that was delicious! The seasoned fries were perfectly crisp. I'd definitely recommend! read more

I was expecting better. The onions in the onion soup not only were not caramelized, they were slightly crunchy. I also had the cheese steak wrap, which was dry chopped steak with cold cheese placed on top of it and very little onions and peppers. My moms fish and chips looked good. This was the second and last time i will be going here. First time i had the prime rib. It was served in a sea of brown bland liquid. Tasted like it was boiled. The second time was just yesterday ordered the nachos. Came out with cheese still shredded not melted and the chicken was deli chicken cut into cubes and cold. Being longtime Ellington residents, we've been here many times. It is the quintessential neighborhood restaurant and bar. Family friendly and lively staff perfect for the atmosphere. It is common place to run into friends and neighbors. They used to have a popcorn machine near the front door, removed during COVID, I was told it wouldn't work when they tried to put it back in service. I really miss the smell and perk of free popcorn. You can never go wrong with Casey's burgers, my personal favorite is the patty-melt. Menu changes regularly by offering seasonal and home style prepared meals, such as beef brisket, roast pork, turkey and the like, we have never been disappointed. My only nitpick is how the restroom doors are in the dining area allowing views into the men's cramped bathroom every time door is opened. read more

I've never had a bad meal at Casey's. It's a local pub type place where you go for good food at a good price. They have a great prime rib special each Saturday that is a great deal. Yummy and priced well. Very pleasant servers who do their best to make you feel welcome even when the joint is jumping. And it usually is. The packed dining room proves it's a happening place, well happening for Ellington Connecticut. They often have live music playing if you like that kind of thing. When we visit my go to meal is a southwest burger with onion rings. Rings are an upcharge from fries but it is worth it to me. Good food, great service, what else do you need? read more

A fun little townie bar-- with decent food and prices to match! I hadn't been in years but decided to pop in Saturday night. The bar was full & restaurant was fairly packed, as there was live music. The frozen vlam strips were overcooked because they left them in the frier to achieve the color. Unfortunately, leaving them in the frier also cooks the clams I side the breading too. I almost broke a tooth. I didn't have the heart to make a complaint, and I was with my mother who gets very embarrassed when someone complains. The Vole slaw was bland, bland, bland! I tried salt, I tried pepper but no. Casey, did you ever hear of vinegar?? Maybe hiring a chef instead of a short hand cook would behoove you. After eating here more than 30 times in the last few years and many more times before I started using Yelp it's clear that this is one of my favorite lunch spots in the area. I used to think this was because its convenient rather than the menu but I have to admit it's mostly about the food and definitely the exceptional friendly service. You'll always have a nice selection of daily specials to choose from including hearty soups and usually a few comfort food offerings that change daily, if these don't appeal to your taste buds the menu if filled with a large selection of sandwiches, wrap and salads. The kitchen staff understands that during the lunch hours people want to eat and run so they get the food out pretty quick but they never compromise the quality. Casy's is a very nice sports, pub and biker bar serving very good food. Wednesday's is Pasta Night, you can select a verity of different sauces and accompaniments which is nice if you like to mix things up a bit. The dinners are solid and they make a very good Rueben sandwich, I consider this place above the average in food quality and consistency and the service is always efficient and friendly. Do try the seafood items from the raw bar, you are in for a real treat. Outdoor dining area overlooking a golf practice range. Extremely casual. Arrived at 3:00 and the bar inside was pretty full with what appeared to be lots of locals. Ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich. It was a premade patty, of assumed chicken, with 1/2 teaspoon of buffalo sauce and blue cheese in the center of the bun. Fries were hot, fresh, and good. During Covid when you could only have a certain number of patrons the parking lot was full to capacity

This place used to be a great go to for a quick drink during the summer. Started trying the food & coming at various times of day... I notice a lot of regulars. The last time we went was likely the last. There were so many flies. The shifts were changing over & our server was in a rush to get our order, despite me needing to change our baby's diaper. Our 6 year old also had to go to the bathroom. & in the 10 minutes I had done both of those things she had gone to our table 3 times then began rolling silverware w her back towards us & playing on her phone. The wings were not good. I got the dry rub. They were so salty. I was only able to eat 2, the second one was black at the bone. Flies were going in our drinks, landing all over our food... we ate so little, I ended up cooking as soon as we got home. We were not refunded for any of the food despite me telling one of the servers how bad everything was. read more

Spent about $65 among three people with no alcohol. I got the mushroom ravioli and my parents got the mushroom risotto special and the pastrami sandwich. The salad was fairly large and the entrées themselves were massive. Had enough leftovers for two meals later. The food itself was okay. It got better when you added salt (the waitress even said to another table they don't really add salt). The ravioli was somewhat oily but still good. No complaints on the sandwich and the fries are pretty good and crunchy. Overall, average food so an average rating. read more

I went here for a date the other night and I didn't particularly like it. First off, it's definitely not the place to take someone out on a date, especially not the first date. The atmosphere was noisy and informal. There was a mixed demographic: people who came in for a drink after work and as well as families who came for dinner and brought their children. It didn't really seem like a family place to me... I was surprised to see any children there at all. The food was decent. I had a grilled cheese and an ice tea while my date had a grilled chicken buffalo sandwich, which he really enjoyed. Price wise, it is very inexpensive but they didn't really have anything special. They have a pretty extensive menu. The service was prwtry good. I think this place serves better if you're going out for drinks with buddies versus if you actually want to have a food meal. read more

Omg we happened upon here one day because it was close to the car dealership we had to visit...been back 5 times in couple months since...always great food. The drinks are double the size and less cost than other places and twice as strong. I must be in rural CT. From the outside, Casey's doesn't look like much. In fact, it looks like a local dive bar. Inside, well, it's half local dive bar, and half family restaurant. The service is OK, and food is pretty middle of the road. They get an extra star for portion size on the Clam Strip platter. Prices are cheap for the amount of food. Order time to food on table was exceptional. Given how busy they were, I expected to be waiting a bit, but that old fryolator was humming. I give Casey's a respectable 4 stars. read more
