Decide to try this small neighborhood restaurant. What a treat! Breakfast was wonderful. Portions are large. Waitress was very friendly. Great place. It is small so be prepared to wait. Coffee is hot and plentiful!

Pretty good breakfast fare from a very local diner-esque feel Came here on a whim, looking for french toast and a new place to try. Saw this one had a lot of good reviews, so they were my choice to try. Staff were friendly, if not slightly bored. They greeted me quickly and got me seated at the stools. I got a menu and saw one of their specials was a french toast with lots of marshmallows. So I was intrigued, and ordered that along with some bacon. Needed some form of protein to go with my dessert. The first mistake was that I did not realize that there was a choice. I could choose french toast or pancakes, and the server never confirmed what I was looking for. So when I got the dish, it was pancakes. Kinda was a little upset about that, but decided to give it a shot anyways. chalked it up to my lack of coffee. I do order a cup, it's kind of a generic jet fuel drip coffee. Nothing special, over seeped and bitter. nothing a creamer and a little salt won't fix. The pancakes were cooked well and mounded with creamy marshmallow fluff and lots of mini-marshmallows. The top pancake was drowned in the marshmallow, but the bottom pancake was just a straight up pancake. Kinda hoped they would put a dollop of marshmallow between the two, but didn't get it. the only other thing that would've been nice is if they either broiled or scorched the mini-marshmallows while on top of the pancake. Having that browned or burnt sugar bite would've made these stellar. maybe they can do a smores one and crumble gram crackers and chocolate chips along with the marshmallows then broil the top? The powdery finish of the mini-marshmallows was okay, but slightly detracted from the flavors of the plate. Bacon was plenty crispy, but kind of generic. Nothing special to write home about. Overall, not a bad showing. They put out good food at a reasonable price. They're not the prettiest place around, but they serve good food. They just need to work on their dishes just a little bit, and they can be awesome! Worth a shot if you're in the area!

In Broad Brook. You will find a small restaurant with that small town charm. Very friendly staff. Small and simple menu. I personally would have liked to seen a little bit more on the lunch menu. Like grilled chicken salad. But Its good to see soup on the menu. I love corned beef hash. And really enjoy ordering that. And love when the places make their own. Which here they do. And it was 100% delicious!!!! Its simple hidden gem in Broad Brook with some historic look. Really enjoyed seeing the old style and pictures on the wall.

a table with a variety of menus

This is one of the best kept secrets in Broad Brook. It's a great spot for breakfast and lunch. Family owned and operated with fresh food all the time. I have been here about a 10 times now and haven't had a bad experience. I would recommend this place to anyone in the area.

Numerous lunch specials (although Belvedere is not really that much of an "eat there" type of place). Recently bought 8 dozen pierogies (as well as other food) for my Polush BIL, Jozef, who lives in Manhattan. He really enjoys, as do I. I also recently had my first Cubano sandwich for lunch. Why did I wait so long? Thin slices of ham, pulled pork, Swiss, sliced pickles and mustard on an oversized hard roll. Absolutely perfect. Highly recommend. 4.5 overstuffed and oversized stars

Greeted warmly, I placed my order for a Polish plate, consisting of Golobki (stuffed cabbage) a generous serving of kielbasa with sauerkraut, and three pierogi. Rye bread was served on the side. I also got a green tea to wash it all down with. All this was around $15 plus the tip. Let me tell you, the reason why I said it was like going to my mother's house was this place is culture at its finest for the Polish heritage I absolutely loved the Kielbasa and sauerkraut, and the pierogi were out of this world and you could tell they were homemade with love. The Golobki was good. If I said it was better than my mother's, there would be hell to pay! Serving containers of spicy mustard for the kielbasa, sour cream for the pierogi, and a beautiful horseradish sauce was for whatever your pleasure. This had a kick and it was amazing. The restaurant is super clean, and decorated with lots of thought. I loved the menu. I thought the many choices were to be ordered on the future times I frequent this place Now I see all the rave this place has, and this could be a regular stop. Thanks again Belvedere of East Windsor for your gracious service and delicious food. You are well deserving of the five stars. Until next time!

"I walked in, the baker said everything was sold I found out…read moreshe saved me some sweet jelly roll Yes, the baker shop boogie" (Willie Nix) Since we're friends, let me ask you a personal question--so tell me this: what's your official dessert policy? Are you a "dessert is a human right" kind of person who enjoys something sweet every night after dinner? Do you ceremoniously pair your evening coffee with a treat like it's a sacred ritual? Or are you more of a free range snacker who grazes on cookies and pastries whenever the mood strikes? At our place, we've somehow drifted into the habit of having a bakery item most nights. Could be a cookie. Could be a pastry. Could be a slice of something. All this brings me to yesterday's visit to the Hartford Baking Company in South Windsor, where we are now pretty well stocked for a week's worth of upcoming desserts, and maybe a breakfast or two. They have four locations in the Greater Hartford area, all selling the same amazing product line of bread, ciabatta, and rolls. But for the sweet tooth fiends out there, well get psyched for their scones, muffins, Walnut Coffee Cake, Financiers (a French almond cookie), brownies and bars, cookies, biscotti, shortbreads, Danish, Cinnamon buns, Pecan-Walnut Sticky Buns, Brioche Pastries, fruit tarts, and quiches. We were running errands in South Windsor yesterday, popped into Hartford Baking, and walked out with a bounty of wonderful looking goodies- brownies, a croissant, a chocolate banana muffin, a rectangular Financier, and a slice of coffee cake. We should be set for a while in the dessert department. I had the Financier last night, and never having heard of the word before, I consulted the old Google machine for some research and found a very cool origin-story. In the late 1800's there was a pastry shop located near the Paris Stock Exchange. The shop sold very popular small almond cakes that were baked in small rectangular molds resembling gold bars. They were a hit with the busy bankers who frequented his shop. The name "financier" stuck because of both the clientele and the gold bar shape. I have to tell ya, that Financier was amazing. It was dense and delicious and overflowing with almond flavor. I loved it. I also had a teense of the Banana Muffin this morning, and it was excellent as well. Loved that banana flavor and those chocolate chips. OK, so file away "Hartford Bakery" on your short list of "must visit" dessert destinations, because I assure you that you'll walk out a satisfied customer.

Quick service, good quality food and coffee…read more Was trying to go to a new place that just opened up. They were not open, so came here for my breakfast. Inside is nice and spacious. Staff was nice but were in the midst of conversation when I approached the register. They quickly took my order then went directly back into conversation. Felt like fast food service, more a number than a guest. Food came out quick. Had to stage my pics a bit but easy enough. The double chocolate latte was chocolaty and creamy. Coffee was strong enough to punch through the sweet and was well balanced as a drink. The sandwich was plentiful on the pulled pork and the egg was cooked well. Bun was soft and buttery but not pillowy. Which is good because you want a breakfast sandwich to be structural enough to hold its shape after each bite. Price was about 20 for the sandwich and latte, which isn't too bad for the quality you get. Much better than your fast food chains, even if you get the same service. A great quick stop location, worth a try but not a trek.
