Enrique is a responsive and diligent contractor. He is helpful and not pushy. I sent him a quote request to install pavers on Friday and he responded quickly with a fair price. He also came over same day to give some design advice and verify all of the measurements. When the job started the following week, he took care of everything , including removing and dumping the dirt and picking up the paver materials. He worked quickly but was also very detailed during installation, especially in the lines and handling the edging and even providing a couple of options with the paver pattern and the pros/cons of each. When I started getting quotations for my artificial lawn project in the backyard on Yelp, there are just many companies that told me they would have either 300 sqf minimum or $3,000 minimum. I would not want to go for those companies for my backyard of just 170sqf, so I contacted Root Landscaping. Enrique came on the same day with 6--7 turf samples to my house, so both my wife and i were able to see exactly what we wanted. Then he came with 2 other guys from his company, started working in my backyard for 3 days. They know exactly what they were doing, they had a set of processes and procedures in place to execute the project step by step. I setup the job and they came out within a week and started working. They were clean from start to finish. The three man crew was polite and they worked hard from 8am until their day ended every day. I was looking for a landscaper to build a retaining wall as a planter box. After talking to many contractors, I finalized to go with Enrique Martinez (Root Landscaping) since he was very professional and able to explain multiple options to me. Initially I was thinking of putting retaining wall all on both side however, he convinced me the back side is not visible, using retaining wall on back is going to double the cost He judges he suggested to use would pressure treated wood to reduce the cost by $2,000. But he didn't reply message suddenly and changed his best offer for around $2000 more. Totally insane! It's a $5000 work! Unbelievable what I have experienced and I do hope Enrique can give offer more seriously then don't waste any other neighbors time! Btw, among 6 teams, they give the worst offer with the highest price at the very beginning. I should be more cautious about working with them . Don't be cheated with high ratings. Enrique did our backyard fence. The old one was severely damaged by the recent windstorms, and we needed to get a new fence. Enrique gave us a competitive quote and I felt he understood really well what kind of replacement fence we wanted. He gave us a date less than two weeks away to start the work which he said would take 3-4 days to complete. He and his crew arrived promptly on the promised day and worked rapidly to finish the redwood fence (with privacy lattice on top) in a little over two days! We had a number of grown plants in our yard next to the fence line and not a single one was damaged in the process. In the process of digging to install the fence, Enrique ended up capping a water pipe that cut off water to a hose pipe in our yard. I did not discover that until after the job was done and I had already made the full payment to Enrique. However, when I called Enrique about this, he responded quickly and came and fixed the pipe shortly thereafter. I really appreciated his responsiveness after the job was done. I value this in any contractor not just how well they do the actual job, but how they respond afterwards when something goes wrong. This was my first experience with Enrique, and I would not hesitate to use him again in the future. I highly recommend him. read more

I decided to go with Enrique's team for landscaping after consulting with Enrique regarding paving majority of my backyard and some areas in the front yard. The recent storms did a number on our front yard and we decided to replace the mulch with small stones and install new sod for the front lawns and replace some damaged shrubs. Enrique took my rough sketch and some ideas and turned them into a beautiful new front yard for us. He even recommended burying a downspout on the house and installing a drain to the street to improve drainage. The path to our front door now has an elegant row of boxwood, new low voltage lighting and small stones replacing the mulch. Small stones replaced the mulch in the other areas of the yard as well. I can't say enough about the quality of both the design and the work. The price was also extremely reasonable for such a beautiful new front yard. Enrique was easy to communicate with, knew what I needed before I said anything and has a flair for landscape design.
