Great 1st time visit! I visited this place over the past weekend. We did not have to wait for a table.The prices are great for a seafood restaurant. The menu is small, but there is something for everyone, even if you don't like seafood. It's a very casual place. You definitely do not have to dress up. I ordered the Fish (fried) and Grits. The fish was seasoned well. The grits could have been a little thinner (kinda stiff), but still good. I had to ask for more of the cream sauce that goes on top because it was a lot of grits. Saw all the great reviews and wanted to give this place a try. Got there just after 1:00 PM and was sat quickly...then we sat for about 20 mins and a guy finally came and took our drink order. There was a large party getting sat the same time we were (we were a party of 4 and a 3 year old) and they were taken care of before us. They all had their food before we even ordered ours. Everyone in the entire restaurant got their food before us. People that came in WAY after us were eating before us! After 20 more mins he said he'd be with us in a minute or two...so we waited. Then he passed us off to another server and she came over to take our drink order and we told her we had already given it to him so we gave it to her along with our food order. When she gave us our drinks we told her we had already been there for an hour and a half so she said well, "let me get you some salads or a crab dip" I took this as we were getting comped. So she brings us the crab dip with not enough chips or pit bread to finish it. We asked for extra and were charged 2.00 more dollars. I think if you order the dip you should have enough damn chips to eat it all. The crab dip was good. When we got our food we still hadn't even gotten silverware so after waiting over 2 hours, that's right 2 hours to get our food I had to get up and get our own silverware. I feel stupid for waiting that long but we kept seeing all the food come out and it looked great, we were like, "it can't be much longer" boy were we wrong. We ordered the catfish which was perfect, it is served with slaw, fries and 2 tiny hushpuppies. The slaw was good and the fries were cold, the hushpuppies were just whatever. The servers fingernails were so long they were in the condiments when she would set it down on the table, gag. We had the shrimp poboy and it looks better than it is. It's like the batter had the flour taste...if that makes sense. We also ordered chicken fettuccini, it was really good...except when my son got to the very end he found a hair, I get it...this happens but when I told the owner she said, "but you ate most all of it." I don't know if she thought we put it in there but it was a short black hair (Oh please God let it be the cook's head hair). Anyway we got the bill and the chicken fettuccini was on the bill along with the appetizer. I talked to the owner, like every "Karen" would and that is when she comped the dip and the chicken fettuccini. She was nice but a little accusatory about the hair. She also said that it's not usually that slow and said the server is new and didn't put the ticket in right but never even said she was sorry about how long it took or the hair. There was one, little, young server that had noticed what we went though and was very apologetic and she will do great things in life. I wish I knew her name. Delicious seafood. We had the shrimp boiler and the seafood nachos. The shrimp boiler came with 20 pieces shrimp, corn, a large potato and a boiled egg in a garlicky sauce. I ordered the chicken pasta, my wife had shrimp pasta, my son had a shrimp po boy. We visited Thursday as a family to celebrate my wife's birthday. Magan was our server and she did an outstanding job taking our orders and checking on us. I ordered chicken wings, my wife had the kraken quesadilla and both of our boys ordered shrimp pasta. The wings were slightly over cooked but Magan fixed that issue. The pastas and quesadillas were perfect, well seasoned and more than enough. We had strawberry cake and it was satisfying. There is a mandatory 18% gratuity for evening dining. I didn't have a problem with it but I think that you should share that information upfront. Regardless, I will order here again in the future. First time visitor tonight after looking for a good restaurant in the MS area serving fish. So glad we found this place. The service was very nice and we met the owner who was a very nice lady. The atmosphere was casual and laid back and it smelled of a seafood restaurant which was great. While waiting for our food I noticed quite a few plates passing me that all looked delicious. I had the fish plate which came with 2 filets, hush puppies, slaw and fries. I opted out of the slaw because I'm not big on spicy food and it was a jalapeño Cole slaw. We tried the carrot cake which was also delicious. The food was flavored to perfection and was enough to bring half of my food home. The only reason I didn't give a full 5 stars was because it took a little long to get our food and I was charged $2.50 extra for hush puppies that came with the meal. I am here on a business trip and looked for a place that serves local seafood dishes. So far, I have tried the seafood pasta and the fish & grits. The seafood pasta had a mildly spicy alfredo sauce and a good amount of shrimp and a few crab legs with a garlic roll. It was a big portion enough to feed two. I am embarrassed to say that I ate the entire serving over a long meal. Overall, it was very good and look forward to eating it again. My second dish was blackened catfish and grits. Again, this dish had generous portions and was very rich and satisfying. The mix of blackened catfish, rich buttery grits and the sauce that came with it was fantastic together. I plan to explore other menu items based on the very good food and portions I received. As a side note, I ordered both as take out due to covid restrictions. The food was very thoughtfully packed and freshly prepared allowing me time to get to my hotel to enjoy it hot. Two friends and I recently tried Flava Shack. The restaurant is small and cute. There was a nice little crowd around dinner time. I LOVE seafood bags, but have seen several photos of the salmon and just had to try it. My food was very tasty. I feel that the portion was perfect and not over the top. Sides were great too. My friends got shrimp bags. One really seemed to enjoy hers, but the other said there was just a bit too much liquid in hers for her personal preference. I have been to Flava Shack twice. The first time was great. It wasn't too crowded and our food came out pretty fast. The second visit however was terrible. We went on a Sunday. It was crowded at the time. Our server was so/so. She failed to put or appetizers in so we got our Entree and Appetizers at the same time. Then our order was missing items. The server decided to just take those items off the ticket opposed to asking us if we wanted the items. I ordered an unsweet tea and had to ask 3 to 4 servers to bring me sweetener and that took about 30 mins. The food has been delicious both times I have went. The service is mediocre at best though. I am a huge lover of crab legs. I haven't had any in a while and have been wanting some for months. My boyfriend and I decided to give this place a try. Man, was it worth it. We chose 2 appetizers (shrimp on a skewer and lobster dip) The shrimp were tasty and juicy, so good!! My husband, son and I are in town for a funeral. We ate here just wanting to get dinner. I don't care for seafood m, but I will occasionally eat salmon and shrimp. My husband ordered shrimp tacos, I got the salmon and my son got the kids Alfredo. It took about 20ish minutes for the food to come out. When they set that plate in front of me I was utterly shocked. It looked stunning. Seriously, some of the best food I have ever eaten. The salmon was perfectly cooked with an awesome crust/sear on top, the broccoli was cooked perfectly, the mashed potatoes were out of this world. My husband said those were the best shrimp tacos he'd had. The ambiance isn't the best, but I'm still giving 5 stars because the food is immaculate.
