The friends I went with had been there several times before and spoke highly of the experience. The appetizers consisted of oysters, Brie crostini's, and prosciutto wrapped butternut squash! I enjoyed the nicely spiced seafood gumbo, gulf fish, and a few bites of the sweet King cake. I was able to bring some leftovers home too so I could enjoy it again! The owner was there and I think he got the baby in the cake. :-) You can order additional drinks while there and we were recommended a very nice red wine that went well with the meal. I'm so glad I got a check to check it out and look forward to trying it again hopefully this year!

And we keep on coming back. It is fun, delicious and the ambiance inside the house and the gardens is optimized for enjoyment! Supper Friends offers a themed meal (usually dinners, sometimes brunch). It is normally a 5 course prefix menu that is carefully thought out. I'm particularly fond of their passed appetizers - they usually have 3 different types of delicious bites - that you can nibble on as you wait for guests to arrive and dinner to get served. There's an option to pair your meal with wines. The staff there is amazing from the wait staff, the sommelier, the chef, owner (including his family) - all very attentive and friendly! We would like to see more dinners offered. Our last dinner there was a couple of months ago and we've been waiting for the next event since! We can't wait to go back!

I also was being devious, knowing that they would not initially be overwhelmed by the outside appearance, very rustic, seemingly 1920s neon sign.... but inside, wonderful. Our table was ready on arrival, they had even arranged for us to use an alternate entrance right next to our seating to better accommodate one in our party who uses a wheelchair. The server was delightful and attentive. And all five of us loved our apps and entrees. Everything was very fresh, beautifully presented and, well, scrumptious. We especially enjoyed having "family" sides that could be shared. At first glance, the menu seems rather limited. But the chef has created a masterful offering that covers just about anyone's pallet. No one said, "there's nothing here for me." All-in-all, this is a great place for a special dinner!

I work and defeating long hours, so I am not always the best at communicating plans or changes. However, the owner was patient, understanding, and helped me masterfully plan this large event. The staff was also extremely professional. They prepped in advance for the mixer and had a reserved table ready. They were quick and diligent in catering to over 100 guests and went above and beyond in welcoming everyone who attended on Christmas. Words cannot describe how much I highly I recommend The Eleanor and Miracle on 5th Street for events and as a bar. One more thing I would like to highlight is the diversity of the staff, which I truly appreciate. As a Black woman, diversity is extremely important to me, and there are some downtown bars that lack it. However, this bar goes above and beyond. I saw people who look like me, women, and even LGBTQIA+ staff members. The team is not only diverse and welcoming, but it is clear that they love where they work. They all looked happy and treated my guest special on Christmas. Thank you, Eleanor, for being an amazing bar and for taking such great care of an Austin community on Christmas.

I couldn't really justify getting a second drink at that price, but the one I did get was actually noticeably great -- really a very well-crafted drink, that had me looking up the ingredients later in the night curious on how they made it. I went on a Sunday night and it was slow but lively. I don't think I'd go at a peak time with the extremely long lines that form, but it made a cozy date spot.

I got the jasmine cold brew and it was tasty, but I do wish the jasmine flavor came across stronger. My friend got the osmanthus latte and mentioned that she similarly would have liked the flavor of the drink to be stronger. However, something that we had to remember was that the floral taste was competing with the taste of coffee and milk, so it was diluted. This could have attributed to the light floral flavor that we got, but it did leave us wanting more. I did get to try a sip of the five spice mocha and while some mentioned that it was hot pot mixed with coffee, I found it to be the perfect mix of spices that had a nice seasonal aspect to it (move aside pumpkin spice), which was wonderful! If you like spiced drinks, I would highly recommend trying this one.

I tried the Siren's Song (yum) and Spirit of the Sea (good but bit too briney). We liked the coconut shrimp. The charcuterie board was really well presented and much bigger than we thought it would be! The fish sticks were a little chewy and didn't taste too fresh. They brought us the popcorn by mistake but I still snapped a photo of it. :-) Overall a fun experience with great decorations, but I suggest asking for a table with more room to move around. After around 8:30 pm on a Friday we were waiting in like for around 20 mins per drink. The staff were all friendly and helpful! You can make a reservation (we did), which made getting in easier, but they do reserve half of their tables for walk in's. We were in the front near the bar, which was quite noisy. The back room was much quieter and darker, if you're looking for a place to have more quiet conversation. Our group tried most of the cocktails, which were all very tasty. We also got the coconut shrimp and potato pancakes. The food portions were very small (only about 6 shrimp and 3 pancakes) for the price, but that's what you get in downtown Austin. Cocktails are all $16+, again typical for downtown. This was a fun special occasion place for a weekend night!
