    Pork belly vermicelli
    Briana N.

I feel like I've been eating so good recently and just giving out 5 stars left and right, but Mam Mam deserves it! In the springdale general buildings, Mam Mam is located in a cute and convenient little food hall, with lots of tables for working and eating. We got the pork belly vermicelli, and that first bite of pork belly really got me good. It's so meaty and has such a good chew to it, not too greasy, and I love the fried breading on the outside, for a slight crunch. The noodles were bouncy, the sauce was delicious. And the pickled veggies and cucumbers were perfect for off setting all the meat. Would definitely go back to try some of the other menu options!

Rating: 4.4/5 [take out] We placed an online order for a late lunch on a Thursday, and it was ready within 25 minutes. They're located inside Wingman Kitchen, which doesn't have a staffed front counter. However, you can see directly into the kitchen, and when we arrived, someone noticed us and came out to hand us our order. Fish Sauce Caramel Wings ($12 | GF): These were chicken wings and drumsticks coated in a fish sauce caramel, topped with chopped herbs, pickled chilies, and fried garlic. The pieces were large and packed with umami. The flavors were good, but the fish sauce left a slightly fishy aftertaste that I didn't enjoy. A few of the drumsticks were red near the bone, and when we brought it to their attention, they refunded us. Ba's Egg Roll ($5 | GF): A large, gluten-free pork egg roll served over a bed of lettuce and herbs with a side of fish sauce. It was flavorful, crispy, and satisfying. The wrapper had a unique texture--slightly chewy and a bit sticky on the teeth--but not a big issue. Pork Belly Vermicelli ($14 | GF): Vermicelli noodles topped with fried pork belly, mixed herbs, ginger scallion oil, crushed peanuts, and served with a side of nuoc mam cham. The pork belly was quite fatty, thinly sliced, and had a nice crispy edge. Unfortunately, it lacked the bold flavor I was expecting and reminded me a bit of boiled pork like bossam. Overall, the dish didn't stand out, and I'd probably skip it next time.

The portion sizes of the food here are insanely large relative to the price that you pay! With one appetizer and one entree, you could probably have enough for two different meals. It's built inside this larger complex, so you have the choice between taking it to go or eating it there in the shared space between several restaurants in the building. MUST GET: the fish sauce chicken wings. The meat is juicy inside but the skin is perfectly THICK and crispy on the outside. The sauce is the perfect hints of sweet and funk and they give you some fat full wings and drumsticks. None of the skimpy tiny chicken wings here. Shared between two people, this itself could be a lunch. This was my favorite thing on the menu. The poached chicken over chicken oil rice is delightful. The sauce is sweet and spicy to dip the chicken in. No bones in this chicken, for those who are used to that in chicken over Hainanese rice.

Mam Mam blew me away! The roti canai was a one-bite wonder--flaky roti, rich curry, and tangy pickles combined for an explosion of flavor. The chicken and rice? Pure fatty, flavorful bliss. I can't wait to come back to this pop-up and taste more!

On Saturday, a friend and I did a workout at Central Athlete. We were super hungry afterwards and searched the restaurants in the complex. Man Mam looked the most promising, as we both love Asian food. We ordered the Pork Belly Vermicelli from the counter and decided to split it. The dish contains fried pork belly (it was so deans crunchy), Vermicelli rice noodles, mixed herbs, pickled vegetables, and fried shallots. Topped with fish sauce dressing and crushed peanuts, this dish is a winner! They brought the dish within five minutes, allowing us to assuage our hunger quickly. There are plenty of places to sit and eat near the restaurant in the food court. The whole ambiance is pleasant for casual dining.

Mam Mam's is such a happy, healthy marriage of southeast Asian flavors. I love the citrusy undertones of the both the papaya and the steak salads, as well as the Tom Yum pasta. These creations are not to be confused with your sad little side salads--they are substantial, meal-like dishes that are packed with robust flavors. I got to try their food in Mansfield, where the birthday girls' parents had the connections to get Mam Mam catered, but I'm not sure if catering is a normal thing they offer, especially this far north of ATX. Every dish was outstanding. I took gallon-bags of food from the party, and I'm so excited to eat it all again tomorrow!

The service at this ghost kitchen was amazing. The employee brought us food directly to our table even though we were supposed to go get it when the buzzer went off. My friend and I got the Larb Heb and the Texas kaya toast. The larb heb was interesting - it was weirdly spicy and very vinegary. I was not super impressive but the mushrooms were a good texture. The texas kaya toast was delicious!!! It was crispy and fresh. The bread was soft in the middle like milk bread. The pandan dip was so flavorful and delicious as well!

Tucked away in the back corner of Springdale General, Mam Mam's is serving up hearty Southeast Asian dishes. The hot yai fried chicken hit the spot! It was a generous portion of chicken quarters with chicken fat rice. It came with 2 sauces: a cilantro mint that had a nice kick and a more classic sweet chili vinegar. The gaeng neur roti was also a hit. The beef cheek was tender and the curry was so rich and full of flavor. The portions were generous as well, as it included both roti and rice. The roti by itself was delicious; buttery, flaky goodness. Well worth the visit!

Mam mam is a new spot in Austin for Southeast Asian cuisine, operating out of Wingman Kitchens at Springdale general. Chefs present traditional home-cooked dishes with a modern flair- some of which you truly won't find anywhere else in Austin. We were so excited, we ordered the whole menu! Some favorites: bone-in fried chicken with incredibly crispy well-seasoned skin, chicken & rice which paired well with a tasty ginger lime fish sauce, papaya salad with sesame crackers (could not even tell this was vegan ! ). - hat yai fried chx 15 - chicken & rice 15 - papaya salad (vegan) 12 - gaeng neur roti 17 - larb hed 15 - fish sauce caramel wings 11 for 6 Mam mam is located towards the back of the building of Springdale general, on the way to the restrooms. You may also preorder when they are open. 1023 Springdale Rd, Bldg 1, Austin, TX 78721 (located at Wingman Kitchens)

It's located inside the same complex as Medici coffee and near the barbershop. The food menu is small, but the food is delicious! I got the fried chicken and the meat inside was juicy while the skin was crispy and so flavorful. My friends got the chicken and rice (very soft and healthy) and the pork belly vermicelli too. The portion is really good for the price! They only open on the weekend at this location so make sure to check their schedule

Sooo delicious! Found this Thai/SE Asian place inside Springdale General. Their portions are filling, pricing is reasonable, and most importantly, the food is delcious! Give it a try! We got chicken and rice and gaeng neur roti, which comes with curry. I want to try the Kaya Texas Toast next time! I have had Kaya toast in Singapore before and that was delicious so I'm excited.

Hat yai fried chicken, ribs, and chicken & rice

This is the best spot to replace my beloved chicken rice joe that left Austin about two years ago or so. Easy to grab, well priced, quick, and delicious food. This place is SO good, it's almost criminal. The chef/owner is apparently Vietnamese but learned from a Thai chef before starting Mam Mam. My partner and I are Vietnamese and Thai respectively, and we were both super happy with what we got. I can't say enough good things about this little restaurant tucked in the back. I tried a bit of everything we ordered, but our order consisted of Hat Yai Fried Chicken, Chicken & Rice, and the Pork Ribs for the mains. We also added Kaya Toast that came with a pandan dip and a canned Yeo's chrysanthemum tea (of course, those are just canned drinks but I always enjoy both the chrysanthemum tea and the white gourd drink). The favorites were definitely the hat yai fried chicken with its sweet chili vinegar sauce and cilantro mint sauce, but the pork ribs were a very close second. Both were generous with the protein. The chicken and rice was good and great for a lighter meal than the others, plus the ginger lime fish sauce was great. I ended up using all the sauces and alternated to give myself the full experience of their options, and WOW was it amazing! I didn't end up trying the toast until I got home and heated the toast up for 15 seconds in the microwave, but it unfortunately was gone in about 10 seconds due to how good it was dipped in the pandan sauce. This is a MUST get, even if you aren't currently hungry for dessert. In addition, the service was great. The man up front was informative and sweet. I will 100% be back... probably every month if not every week!

We came on a Sunday afternoon for lunch and were so impressed!! Everything was incredible! Fresh, flavorful and huge portions! We got two egg rolls (AMAZING! I hope they keep these forever) and the fried chicken and rice and grilled ribs too. Everything was just the right flavors and so fresh and tasted great. Probably the best egg rolls we have ever had to be honest!! They have indoor and shaded outdoor seating in case you want to bring your dogs! Service was quick and easy! The location is super cute with many other shops in the building.

Loro is an Asian smokehouse and bar featuring grilled and smoked meats with Southeast Asian and Japanese-inspired sauces, sides, and a bar that boasts craft beer, boozy slushees, and batch cocktails. Parking at this location is a bit of a challenge. They have overflow parking in the back but the spots are really small. We sat at the bar area and worked our way through cocktails, apps, and dessert. We opened a tab and the bar staff takes your order which is convenient, versus how you normally have to order by waiting in line at the bar. The bar staff was extremely busy because they have to make all the cocktails and take the line orders at the bar. They are a master of multitasking. It was $3 martini night on Tuesday, so was excited to sample the four different drink options. lychee martini, Mexican martini, and Lucky Cat cosmo martini. Lychee martini is made with new amsterdam vodka, sake, elderflower, Mexican martini with espolon blanco, olive, yuzu, lime and cosmo with vodka, blood orange, naranja, lime. The lychee was hands down my favorite of the three. We started with the Dip Sampler that included a trifecta of smoked shishito queso, smoked salmon dip and Thai green salsa with the Siete blue corn tortilla chips. We went through the chips quickly and got a second round of wonton chips which I preferred to the Siete chips. Tried the Mango Chamoy frozen Slushee with Siete Chamoy Botana Sauce & Siete Chile Lime Seasoning Rim, passionfruit, Aperol, Sake and Sparkling Wine which was refreshing. All their boozy slushies are $5 during happy hour. Ordered the oak grilled edamame from the happy hour menu and it was a flavor explosion with a dusting of serracha powder, lemon zest and white sesame. For dinner, I ordered my go-to rice bowl with coconut-scented rice, seasonal pickles, thai herbs and steak as the protein. They normally served this with Bavette, but the steak was a bit tough and chewy this time. Finished everything off with cheesecake with five spice crumble, yuzu marmalade for dessert. The vibe at the bar was relaxed and lively without feeling overwhelming, and the collab menu felt creative without trying too hard. The ingredients are very thoughtful for a fully developed flavor profile. Just what I would expect from the culinary minds of Tyson Cole and Aaron Franklin. Definitely one of the regulars in my list when craving good cocktails with a casual but elevated food menu.

All of the dishes were a little bit on the saucy side and a little bit salty but good overall. If you go for dinner and sit outside, make sure you get one of the fly fans to keep the flies at bay otherwise they descend with a vengeance. $3 martini nights (but they can't do an NA martini) so it was pretty packed but I'm told it's always packed. Parking is a little difficult since there's so many people but it wasn't too bad. Just make sure you don't park at a store that's open or you will get a boot.

I particularly went there on a Wednesday to try their A5 Wagyu sandwich, but because I hadn't been there in so long, I wanted to have all the rolls that sounded so amazing on the happy hour menu that I couldn't even get to the sandwich. Every single role we had was absolutely off the charts. They even had a Toro role on happy hour for $10 which was such a steal. The service and ambience was also as usual impeccable. Can't wait to come back here to try the sandwich on another Wednesday

Service was great, everyone was friendly and helped explain the menu since it was our first time here! The laksa and hiramasa were standouts! We ended up dipping the roti into the laksa curry as well. Ended with dessert - pretty sure we got the kaya toast. It was wonderful, and they decorated the place well! My aunt kept complimenting the cute seating and lamps. Will definitely come back for a cozy date night or with friends!

This is a Michelin Guide-listed restaurant, and it definitely leans more refined than your typical Southeast Asian spot. It's not a random fusion concept--there's a clear identity here. The menu is cohesive and rooted in Nanyang (Malay/Singaporean) cuisine, not a mix of unrelated dishes. Flavors feel authentic, but the execution is more modern and polished. What we ordered: 1. HH Roti Canai - The standout of the night. Flaky on the outside, slightly chewy inside, served with an incredibly rich bone marrow curry. Super aromatic and hard to stop eating 2. HH Chicken Wings - Sweet, slightly spicy, and well-balanced. You can really taste the Southeast Asian spices--more depth than standard wings 3. HH Hiramasa - Probably the least memorable dish for me. It leans more modern with Thai chili oil and Asian pear. Light, fresh, slightly tangy and herbal--well-executed, just not very exciting 4. Laksa - Coconut and galangal broth is fragrant, and the seafood portion is decent. Flavor is good, but lighter than more traditional versions 5. HH Beef Rendang (beef cheek) - A classic slow-braised coconut curry dish. The beef is very tender, and the lemongrass, turmeric, and coconut flavors are deep and well-developed. Great with rice Overall: Definitely worth trying, especially if you're interested in a more refined take on Southeast Asian cuisine. This is not a casual, street-style spot with big portions and wok hei--it's a more modern interpretation of traditional flavors. Well-executed and distinctive, but on the pricier side. However, I feel the Happy Hour does not make sense to me since it just reduces the size of the dishes Ambience: Dim lighting, tropical touches, slightly colonial-inspired decor--quiet enough and very date-night friendly Service: Professional and attentive. Staff take time to explain dishes and ingredients, which adds to the experience
