A small shop but had all the top brands with the latest iterations. The store was so crowded that I had to go on a waiting list to get help, but no big deal, as it gave me time to study the running shoes. Received excellent help (I think salesperson's name was Leslie, but not sure), with no rush or pressure. It's not exactly like the old JackRabbit, which I miss--there's no treadmill to analyze your gait, but if you've bought running shoes before, this shouldn't be a big issue. The staff is much more knowledgeable than at the usual footwear store, and very patient. You can take your time, even do a little run around the store to test the shoes! I wouldn't consider buying running shoes anywhere else. Very happy with my Hokas so far. Store has a 30-day return policy--plenty of time to try out your shoes. Fleet Feet should consider increasing the staff at this South Slope location, as the store seems to get very busy, even at nonpeak hours. read more

staff is super helpful and I appreciate they don't pressure you to walk out of the store with a pair of shoes that you're not 100% comfortable with -- one of the many reasons I prefer buying shoes from Fleet Feet as compared to some other running stores. It's clean and well-organized inside, and there's a large selection. It's maybe a little bit smaller than some other locations in the city. Unfortunately, there were a couple shoes they didn't have in my size for me to try before getting something online. The staff here are professional, helpful, friendly, and really knowledgeable! I was impressed with the foot measurement machine. It was able to pinpoint that I needed a different size and issues with support for my feet. They have a handful of other shoe equipment like insoles available. Although they didn't have what I wanted in stock they were really agreeable in ordering a pair and having it shipped to me. I walked in and I waved to the staff. I got a hello from a staff member but no one came to me. So, I waved to the people behind the cashier and a man with Black hair who I believe is the boss with an attitude barked, "CAN I HELP YOU?" So, I bark back saying," I AM HERE FOR SNEAKERS." Then one of his employees, (a kid who was nice) came and helped me pick out a pair of sneakers. My advice to the manager is "Hey buddy if you hate your job, QUIT!!" The only reason I did not just walk out is that I had a good experience with them when they were on 7th ave in the past. But this new management sucks, rude, untactful and is in the wrong business. Big fan of JR in Park Slope. It's often busy but I have always received helpful service and I usually try on a minimum of 4 pairs of shoes. Usually try the updated versions of my favorite models then ask for new suggestions. The various staff I've worked with have a good knowledge of their product and their recommendations have always been spot on. For people who go there to buy a shoe based on color or style, you're doing yourself a disservice. The professionals here are here to fit shoes to help ensure a safe, injury-free running/walking/whatever experience. They'll look at your stride on the video, ask questions and make recommendations based on what your physical need is. Doesn't make sense to me why someone would pay $100+ just for something that looks nice but may cause them tremendous pain and/or injury! (full disclosure, it took me several years of running to understand that the shoes that fit me best were always the ugliest/most garish things imaginable, but if you've ever had knee problems, you'll soon realize some things are more important that fashion!) I like this place so much that I feel guilty when I buy shoes other places, not that that stops me. (luckily I was raised Catholic so am used to doing stuff and living with the guilt. Thanks to the priests at St. Jude's and the nuns in high school for teaching me how to rationalize guilt!) read more

Went in the other day looking for a good walking/light running shoe. I was helped right away and got a scan of my foot to find the best fit for me. The shoe style and size it recommended turned out great. I also added on a pair of insoles to fit my arch. Overall a great and efficient trip! I think I was in and out in just 30 min. I came to JackRabbits to pick up a pair of insoles as recommended my by my PT. Tommy was kind enough to listen to my situation and actually ended up recommending a pair of better supporting shoes vs insoles. I decided to listen to my PT and picked up a pair of SuperFeet. After bringing up Tommy's recommendation, my PT advised that it was a gradual process to find what works for me. In the end, it turned out that the Asics Gel-Kayano 25's (2018 NYC Edition) actually ARE the extra support shoes. I will admit that I wasn't sure whether Tommy's recommendation was based in experience or desire to sell, and am very glad to know that it was the prior. read more

Bring your old running shoes in & they'll donate them to a charity that needs them. It doesn't matter the condition or size, color etc...as long as they are running shoes. They donate them to an organization that fixes them up & ships them out to a third world country that has a need for them (I don't have all the details, but go ahead & ask them or just bring in your old damn dirty sneaks to donate). Love that you can try out running shoes on their treadmill. My son noted that his form was off because the treadmill was a bit squished in the corner. They were out of sizes in some styles but I think that's pretty much the norm for most shoe stores, right? Salesperson was attentive but not pushy. Overall, good spot for running shoes. read more

This amazing little shop located in prime spot, right on 7th Ave in Brooklyn. Parking is pretty easy on the meters, and there are subways near by. I was overdue for new sneakers, and stopped by after work. Let me tell you, the attention they give each and every customer is absolutely outstanding. From treadmill run to check your gait before, trying different brands till you find The One, to little extras you need, and to all the helpful advice. And they check your run again in new gear! I can vouch for their picks and advice - I run those new Brooks through 40 miles this week, and they feel perfect on my feet. They also offer plenty specials and discounts, which is nice. If you're a runner, be sure to stop by for a free gait and fit analysis. I walked in on a weekday and was immediately greeted by a really friendly gentleman with glasses. This store has 3 levels but seems to be stocked well for a small space. They have a treadmill on the top level for you to do a quick run so they can analyze the way your feet land, He then recommended a few styles for me to try and seemed really knowledgeable about all the brands and styles. Since I have very small feet, they didn't carry my size but he were still very nice and helpful to me and even wrote down the styles that I should get. read more

2.5 stars. What do you do when you had 3 knee operations, but still don't feel like giving up running for good? 1) Run on one leg! Knees are overrated anyways. 2) Get a bionic knee. 3) Man up and run through the pain. Two missing medial menisci never hurt anybody. 4) Pick extreme couching instead. 5) Buy a Wii. 2 would be a cool option, I guess, but since I can't afford a brand new titanium knee, I decided to give JackRabbit a try. In the end, they claim that they have "the most advanced shoe fitting service in New York City", thanks to the high-speed video that allows you "to capture and analyze the fraction of a second during the gait process when your biomechanics make you most vulnerable to the most common types of injury". Wow! It sounds rather impressive, doesn't it? And the shoe fitting service rather impressive it is. They made me try a few pairs of shoes that should help with pronation, and so far I am very happy with the pair I got[1]. Shoes here cost a bit more than what you can find on-line or at other stores, but if this is the price to pay in order to have a shoe that fits best the way you run and can help you avoid injuries, then I'm happy to pay a few extra $. Unfortunately I have to agree with people who complained about their customer service. I am really interesting in their swimming training programs, and I may go back. Just Had the best shoe buying experience I have ever had in my life today's about 30 mins ago and got a really good discount/ with their points system . Kind courteous and professional sales girl. I wish I remember her name but she was tall and understood the struggle tall women have finding shoes, as we have larger feet and most store stop at size 10 for us. She listened attentively while I told her my whole fitness history and my injuries and she measure my gait and foot pressure . And showed me the best slides ever. I won't lie I spent a good bit of money but I got everything I needed and I am confident that I will make my goals. No one pressured me to buy anything ! Shoe shopping for a large man is awful...unless you go here. I've been contemplating adding running to my workouts and since I have large feet I do not go shoe shopping often, due to its angering nature. A friend of mine recommended I go to Jack Rabbit and seek help. As always, I skeptically engage the idea of finding anything in my size. That was until I sat down with Melanie. It's a rare find when you meet a retail employee who genuinely cares about their clientele, Melanie is one of those rare finds. After, talking with me about my needs she ran down and got a shoe to try on. Shockingly, it fit. We headed over to the treadmill, where she videoed my run and anylized the data. Showing my run in slow motion, Melanie explained what was happening and where I needed to work as well as what was right too. She tried a couple more shoes and I was able to finally gain a pair of great fitted running shoes. One tip; be ready to spend $100-150 on a good pair, otherwise you may have sticker shock. I live nearby and would love to frequent the store but I've gone in three times now looking for shorts and their inventory is all over the place. I was told they had 3 pairs of the shorts I was looking for in my size. 15 minutes later and no one can find them - so that was a bust. Staff was helpful, but that only matters if they actually have the items that fit. Styles are mixed within their inventory, hangers are labeled incorrectly, they don't have any "Medium" sized shorts across the board basically (which is the most common size needed among customers) and so now I'll be ordering online after trying for 30 minutes to make something work in person at the store. read more

I'm a novice runner and decided to run the NYC marathon this year and was in dire need of direction with sneakers. I came here and was greeted by Kyle who is an extremely knowledgeable worker and enthusiastic runner. He did a full diagnosis on my feet, explained to me some of the issues I was having and why I was getting blisters, etc. He recommended a few different sneakers and explained the pros and cons of each one. Do not order from JackRabbit! I ordered an expensive pair of shoes as a Christmas gift during their "$50 off your purchase" promotion. When my husband opened them we discovered they sent Ladies' shoes instead of Men's' (my order was correct, they sent the wrong shoes). Their Customer Service phone had a recording saying they were not taking calls, only email requests. It took them over a week to respond to my email, and then they said they couldn't exchange the shoes. They sent a return label and a code for 15% off, but I would have to reorder the original shoes, and lose most of the original $50 discount. Because of their mistake! Thanks, but no thanks. Do NOT order from this company on line. Ridiculous! I ordered a pair of shoes on Aug 22nd. After order was completed, it showed it would take 6 to 14 days to be delivered and they would email me when the order had been shipped. On Aug 26th, I hadn't heard anything so I called the company. The customer service rep informed me that they had plenty of those particular shoes in stock and would make sure they got shipped out soon. Today (Aug 31) after still hearing nothing, I called the company again. I was informed that the order had been cancelled on Aug 29th and I should be receiving a credit. How bad does a company have to be to not even be able to ship out a pair of shoes? Knowing this is how they are, I'm glad my money won't be going to them and never will. read more

This review is about two years too late, but I had such a bad experience that I thought I should post it anyway. I went in to get a new pair of running shoes, and possibly a cold weather-tech shirt. Now, I don't look like the "typical" NYC running woman. I am fat, yes, not plump, not thick, but fat (and Black, but I'm not sure if this plays into the story or not. You can be the judge). But I can and do run a few miles almost every day and enjoy it immensely. So I go into the store in Park Slope, and see that I am the only customer there, so I think, great! I will be able to really find the right shoe for me. Instead what I got was the RUDEST woman in Brooklyn, possibly the planet, and her snickering associate. When I asked about what options they had for flat feet, she told me I should go to Modells because JR was a specialty running store. WHAT THE F*CK?!? I kept calm, and told her I realized that, hence why I bothered to come in. She asked what my weekly mileage was and I told her around 20, which is actually true. She makes this loud snort and says "Yeah...OKAY." So she says, your feet really aren't that flat (really?? Not what the Dr. told me) and she says that a pair of neutral shoes are what I needed since "cushioning is absolutely WAY more important for you with the amount of stress you're putting on those bones". So I said fine, and asked about a technical shirt. She replies that those were for "serious" runners and that modells would have something more "suitable" for me. I told her that after running for over 10 years, I thought I deserved a "real" shirt. So, she rings me up, and that is when I calmly tell her that I thought she was dreadful and that I was returning everything RIGHT THEN. I had made sure that I made the purchase on a credit card so that it would take extra time. :-). Yes it was petty, but can you really blame me? I walked out with my nose in the air, but about 3 blocks later I started crying, mostly because I was so enraged. It took me a long time to get over the experience; I still would rather order my sneakers from HolaBird or Road Runner Sports than actually go into a brick and mortar specialty shop, but every once in a while I have to, but now I go to Paragon, where they are just kind of inattentive instead of mean. read more

Though I like the set up of the Union Square store better, I like the close neighborhood feel of this place. It's very small inside. When you walk in, there is the clothes (pants, running shirts, etc.) and the cashier. Go up the a small flight (4-5) of stairs and there are the sneakers and the treadmills to try the sneakers on. Go downstairs into the basement and it's the sports bras and the clearance stuff and I believe their triathlon gear is down there as well. Also 10% off every time you shop after your first visit! This review is for their online service. (Website as listed above) I ordered a pair of shoes, at a decent price, but only $10-15 bucks less than I could have got it elsewhere. They send me an order confirmation, then nothing. After a I week, I sent two email asking for an update. Nothing. I called, and after a 10+ minute hold, was told that my shoes were on their way to a store, but that store would ship them as soon as they go them. Another week passes. I call. 8 minute hold. I'm now told my shoes had been "compromised" and weren't available. I was offered a credit. I made it clear I was pretty unhappy, but the person on the phone made no attempt to fix the problem. He didn't give a s**t. No attempt to retain me as a customer. And I had to call them multiple times to find this out. When the employees here all lose their jobs, don't blame Amazon.
