I was a bridesmaid in my best friends wedding a few years ago and carried an incredibly beautiful bouquet. Flash forward to the present day and it was my turn to get married (June 3, 2022). I knew I needed to at least have an introduction to the florist responsible for those beautiful arrangements years ago. My now-husband and I met with Anne, and she was the obvious choice for us. She sat with us to hear our vision (bright colors, pinks and oranges to express our love for sunrise/sunset and joy) via our initial consultation. It was an easy decision to hire her, besides the fact that she's just a very warm and creative person, she also put together a vision board that was nearly identical to one I had been working on myself. It was clear we could trust her to bring our ideas into a reality. We then visited with her in person before the wedding, where she walked us through her creative ideas and details. Our wedding was so beautiful and fun and joyful. Exactly what we wanted. Anne created such gorgeous arrangements for us that I momentarily lost my breath and I cried when I first saw them (*and I should point out here that I'm not a crier). She was able to intricately and creatively express our love for each other and the joy that we were feeling to be getting married - in flowers! Well I was going to keep myself from reviewing because I'm not someone that likes to complain. However, I feel that the way this was handled could've been better. I booked with Anne to be my florist for my wedding (Original date: May 22, 2021). Due to Covid, my fiancé and I had to push our wedding. I'm immune compromised and didn't feel comfortable being around a crowd of people during the pandemic. A lot of my guests also were comfortable so we wanted to make sure everything was safer before having our wedding. We pushed our date out to May 21, 2021. March 2022, Our venue (Rock Wall Wine company) sent us an email letting us know that they wouldn't be able to accommodate our wedding because they are going out of business. So at that point, I had to call around other venues and ask if they still had the date. They all didn't have anything available at the last minute & not even for this year. So we ended up having to push the date out again to May 20, 2023. I contacted my photographer, DJ, caterer, etc. I was under the impression that I had contacted Anne, our florist. Apparently we didn't. My caterer actually contacted us and said "I heard about Rock Wall closing. I'm bummed for you. If you're okay with this, I host another place in the Martinez hills." We checked it out, and loved it. We booked it. Signed the contract for 5/20/2023 to have our wedding reception there. In March, Anne was suppose to have a zoom meeting with me, it never happened. So recently she emailed me the new invoice. I noticed the date didn't change. I freaked out and emailed her back to ask her, "Why is the date the old one? Our venue closed down and we were forced to change it." I got a reply that we didn't update her. I could've sworn I did. We had communicated earlier this year and I was talking about ideas for centerpieces. I'm not sure how it got lost in the conversation but she thought we were continuing our wedding this year. We had no venue for this year, we tried to have it this year. It was out of our control. And I'm not using this as an excuse, however, I've been going through a lot with my family. My aunt just passed away tragically, my mom getting surgery, & my chronic illness is at the end stage. I was stressing about everything not realizing I had missed this detail. So yes, I apologize that this happened in the email reply to her. All I got was, "I'm not available for your date." And then "refund half the deposit for late cancel." I didn't cancel, I asked her if there was another way we can work through this. I told her it was okay to be penalized but my whole half of my deposit? $150 retainer fee + $900. I don't have money like this to blow. And this was an honest mistake. But what I got in return was a very cold response. No email reply after emailing her. No response anymore. read more

Working with Anne was by far my favorite part of wedding planning. She has a kind, calming nature to her that makes you feel confident that you are in good hands. She did a great job listening to what I wanted for the wedding and gave great suggestions for anything that I was unsure about. She had creative ways to help us stay within our budget, i.e. repurposing flowers from the ceremony and using them at the reception. On the day of the wedding, all of the flower arrangements were absolutely beautiful! The table arrangements were perfect, my bouquet was flawless, the arch was stunning, the boutonnieres were adorable, and everything else was absolutely magnificent! Friends and family were able to take table arrangements home at the end of the night. Some of them lasted for another two weeks! It was fun to get messages from friends with pictures of our wedding flowers in their homes. It kept the memory of the wedding going for a bit longer :) Anne is such a joy to work with! My fiance and I wanted to limit our flower budget for our 25-person micro-wedding in Oakland, and Anne was more than willing to collaborate and create a complete vision for our florals that went far and above my expectations and hopes. We made several iterations to the theme and color scheme until we got everything just right. I absolutely adored the personal flowers that she created for my family and maid of honor. As with all things COVID, our wedding was nothing but unpredictable -- and with 2 weeks notice, Anne transformed our small wedding ceremony into a magical experience that we will never forget. What usually would be an initial in-person consultation was done over FaceTime. We were immediately impressed with her professionalism, transparency, and her attention to the small details on what we wanted. She put together a proposal that worked for our budget and style - and she showed us a vision of something we didn't even think was possible given our timeline and budget! One thing that made her stand out was how quickly she jumped into helping out with aspects we didn't even realize we needed help with. She coordinated directly with our cake vendor to provide fresh flowers for the cake decoration. That willingness to go the extra mile really made a huge difference when it came to planning for us. On the day of the wedding ceremony, she showed up early and got right to work. With COVID, she was very respectful of social distancing measures and cleanliness as she was walking through and working in our home. She set up our yard to perfection and the bouquet she had made was perfect for the dress I was wearing. Perhaps the thing that made Anne's work most special for us was her respect for our culture and focus on making sure we were able to incorporate parts of it beautifully into the decor. We had a table with a Ganesha on it that she highlighted with a wonderful choice of flowers and greenery that really made the idol stand out in the most elegant way possible.
