Hired this agency to prepare my pretty simple filing this year, because next year will likely be more complex. Every step of the way was like pulling teeth. They kept asking me to fill out lengthy forms and provide info in a succession of emails, portal invites, and invoice submissions. Very spread out system leading to extremely poor communication and lack of clarity for me. Multiple times I had to repeat information and repeat questions I had for the agent I was working with as they would often reply with incorrect interpretations of my question, or simply ignore everything after the first question. In the end, I had to make a manual payment to the FEDs and probably won't get the refund owed to me due to Flex Tax unwillingness to answer a simple question. But they did make sure to get over $650 out of me. The last thing they told me was basically "Since the state has questions about your forms it is up to YOU to communicate with them, not us." Apparently if I want full service I also need to engage a POA with them. I have NEVER EVER had to clean up my tax filing due to this type of discrepancy. In closing, if you have a very complicated portfolio and want to spend 10-12 hours after paying FlexTax to check all the work and handle any follow ups with the FEDs or state, maybe this agency is a good choice. In my case all the work and money I put in will go to waste as I will not be returning next year. read more

There are various people at this agency, so I'd make sure you're looking at the specific person this review is tied to. Service was a little lack luster. Response time was pretty slow even using their proprietary website. If you actually need service versus a drop off and forget it mail in service then I'd look else where. For context: I reached out to this team last year (July 2021) because I knew that my 2021 tax will be a mess. I got on the phone with Will and I explained to him what my situation is and what I am planning to do with my ISO and NSO shares at work. I asked Will and his team to project how much tax will I incur from my exercising and selling my ISO/NSO shares. After our call, Will introduced me to his colleague, Alex H. Alex immediately started working with the projections that I had asked for. I was incredibly surprised when Alex asked me for 3 scenarios that I would like him to project. I provide the 3 scenarios to Alex and I uploaded all of my documents using their secured portal. After a few days, Alex provided me an excel sheet and 3 tax return drafts. The excel sheet contained the breakdown of his calculations and the tax return drafts show what my 2021 tax return will look like based on the scenarios that I had provided him.
