The food is fantastic! The servers are friendly. You can't beat the location, BUT!! It needs better managing. The kitchen is under-staffed and too small for the crowds that this place draws. The wait staff is assigned all over the place. The same waitress has customers outside, inside - just all over the restaurant. It took far too long to get waited on and way too long for my food. Some extra kitchen help and assigning the wait staff to a specific area would be a great improvement. -- More umbrella tables outside would be nice too. read more

This was our third time visiting for dinner. The food has always been very good. In my opinion their signature mac & cheese and sliders are the two best items. This was the first time where the service was very slow. Our waiter was very personable and polite but it took entirely too long for everything. Starting with the drink order, the soup, dinner, check and payment it was frustratingly slow. Granted they were very busy but we were sitting next to another couple that was seated a few minutes before us. They had their meal and were gone a good 45 minutes before us. Great establishment! The food is delicious, and they always have excellent specials. Their four cheese macaroni dish lives up to the hype! Nice variety of beers to choose from too. The atmosphere is open, clean and the ceiling windows let in welcome light but also allow diners to watch skydivers parachute from the sky while they eat. A couple picnic tables in back are also available to either watch sand volleyball games being played or skydiving planes take off and watch the parachutes float down to earth. I drove here from Cherry Valley after hearing from a friend how cool it was to watch the parachutes landing. After finally getting there, no one was there to greet us which was no big deal. So we walked out back just to see what it looked like out there. We started looking around thinking maybe you seat yourself here.. we must have looked confused because the outdoor bartender came up to us & said are you looking for a table. We said yes, thinking he was gonna take care of us. He then starts talking to us sarcastically telling us well if you woulda checked in with the hostess they would've sat you. We looked back where he pointed, still no hostess. In the mean time while we were getting scolded our husbands were looking at a table that was being cleaned off. They were then approached by a lady telling them we needed to go see the hostess & we would be seated & that this particular table already had someone being seated there. So my sister in law walks back to the hostess podium. To which she is greeted by a hostess who then seats us at the same exact table we were told we couldn't sit at by the other lady. So after we are seated with our menus, the first lady that told us we couldn't sit there, comes back to our table & asks us who said we could sit there? I said the hostess, she says well I'm the hostess like with a total confrontational attitude. I pointed to the lady that was at the hostess station again & said she sat us here. She goes well I had people that were planning on sitting here. No one was waiting up at the front. There was no reserved sign on the table. We were seated there by the woman that I believe was the actual hostess. I said again well she sat us here & she kept trying to get the last word in as she walked off. If she was the hostess why wouldn't she seat us when she first approached us about this golden table. When we saw the unwelcoming so called hostess later on I didn't see her sit one person in the time we were there. Our waitress Hannah was very pleasant. We didn't tell her about our unwelcoming from the two other coworkers of hers because we were there to enjoy ourselves not dwell on some drama. She made up for the unwelcoming feeling we got when we first got there. The food was good. Beer was cold. No complaints what so ever about anything but the 2 staff members that were total jerks. If I owned that place I would want to know about this incident because something like that could chase first time customers off or anyone for that matter. Everything I've had has been quite good. I've never made it out without fried pickles. They need a big fried pork tenderloin. Hat sized with pickled something and onions! I give them 3 stars. This is such a hit or miss place that seems to be continually changing staff & management, which is a shame because it's a cool place to go. Rochelle is a very small town. Unfortunately they don't really cater to vegetarians or vegans, in fact our server didn't really know what a Vegan is. There have been times that they've specially made me a vegan wrap, which is much appreciated. Other times, the menu choices aren't much more than expensive pub food. Mothers Day brunch was so disappointing. The Bloody Mary Bar was virtually empty. The only BM mix was full of MSG, and other ingredients I wouldn't ingest if I were starving. When I asked the bartender if they had plain tomato juice he replied with "I don't think so, this isn't my regular job" He finally did go and check and the only other solution he could come up with was orange juice. They had a salad, sautéed vegetables and fresh fruit. That was all they had on their buffet that I could eat for $18. They weren't serving anything off the menu. When we first arrived the gal that sat us asked if we would leave after an hour. She explained to us that they had a lot of reservations. We were quite taken back by that request having never been asked that before in our lives. When the hour was up we looked around only to find several empty tables. They have skydivers that you can sit and watch. When we made the reservations the only table they had available was outside so we were planning a nice afternoon to eat and watch the skydivers. Unbelievable. We've been in here when they've given us great service and we've been in there too many times when they've given us lousy service. read more

Went there this past Saturday, not pleased at all. Ordered a cheeseburger, waitress asked how I would like that made - I replied medium. When our order came out my burger was well done, in fact very dry. The person I was with ordered the steak fajita wrap which had no flavoring at all. The nachos stunk. Tri colored chips, with some chicken thrown on, some white lousy cheese sauce, some black beans, lettuce. $14.99 definitely not worth it. Best part of the dinner was the pineapple and grape fruit bowl. Sweet potatoe fries and regular fries frazzled to a crisp. Being next to the airport and skydive facility right there would think that they would have more aviation inside the restaurant, bar. One propeller that looked like it hit the ground. We were very disappointed. We drove out to check out the place, as a Owner of a airplane we thought we could fly in and have dinner some nights. We won't be doing that. Went there on Saturday at 11 o'clock wasn't that busy ,service was super slow. Took over 45 minutes to get a hamburger! The burger was not that great . Spent over an hour and a half there for lunch. I've been to the flight deck several times and they have improved substantially over the past 6 months. Me and my family have ordered just about everything on the menu and its all fantastic. The only thing I would advise people not to order are the pot stickers. They are priced at 9 dollars and you only receive 4 with the order. We've been here a bunch of times in the past couple of months. The atmosphere is always upbeat, CLEAN, and friendly. The service is outstanding. We've been there at busy times & there are always tons of servers and help cleaning tables- the kitchen is open and there are always many cooks creating fresh food from quality ingredients at reasonable prices. We have had Amanda as an outstanding server a couple of times- she remembered us and knew exactly what we wanted (even though I am a picky eater). Watching the skydivers come down through the open wall (a door that opens on nice days onto a patio (where you can eat too!), makes for fantastic scenery! Stopped in for lunch on a road trip with 3 friends. Decor is clean, modern with an obvious airplane/skydiving theme. Beers were cold, good menu selection, and food was excellent - turkey burger, chicken wrap, buffalo chicken sandwich, BBQ Bacon Chicken burger were all prepared correctly and quickly. The Flight Deck is a great restaurant, especially for a small rural town such as Rochelle Il. Its easy to tell that everything is made fresh and tastes great. I've eaten here many times and never had anything but a great meal. What surprises me the most is that most of the customers are local from town and not just people already at the Airport flying or Skydiving. People in Rochelle are willing to drive away from all the close restaurants to eat here. And how convenient is it that a small airport has a restaurant you can fly in to and walk over to eat, not worrying about transportation? read more

We were there on a slow Monday for lunch. My husband and I both ordered the daily special of a 1/4 pound burger for $5. He upgraded to sweet potato fries for $3 extra and I upgraded to regular fries for an extra $2. He had a view of the kitchen from where he was sitting and noticed that someones' sweet potato fries came up quickly after we ordered. As it turned out, those were his. They came out with our food about 10 minutes later and were cold. His burger which was ordered medium came out as well done as mine. We also thought that adding cheese to the burger was a little pricey at an extra $1 for a slice of cheese so we chose not to do that. Over all the service was good and the atmosphere is always nice. Usually the it is worth the few extra dollars that you pay for the food. Not today though. $3 for cold sweet potato fries is just sad. read more

No tables. Waited 10 minutes for hostess to even acknowledge us. So we were given a pager and went outside. It was fun to watch the sky divers come in - BUT the outdoor bar ran out of soda and beer and we had to wait for 20 minutes to get drinks. We waited another 15 until we were seated. Appetizers - very good! Shrimp bisque soup was good flavor but needs actual chunks of shrimp. Steaks- cooked perfect but NO seasoning. Bland. Service was slow and inconsistent. My parents were with us and had a gift card given to them by my sister last Christmas. It wouldn't ring up. It said it was blank. They even had the receipt. They weren't going to take the amount off their bill until we had management come. Wow! Total of nearly 3 hours for a simple dinner. I am so disappointed in this experience which bums me out because I had such high expectations! There were 7 of us at the table - five of us eating. The food was great for 4 out of 5 of us. Don't eat the little kicker - bland chicken on a huge bun. But then we have to talk about the service. To start, our server had no clue there were half priced apps until we pointed it out (I feel bad for anyone there before us), it took FOREVER for a bottled beer (seriously no one should have to wait a half hour for a beer), and the server was clueless on how to split our check (we told him at least four times. What really got me upset was when the two eating asked for a rum bucket. After a half hour wait (I'm not exaggerating), and talks about the drinks coming, he came to the table to say the bartender wouldn't make them because she's out of buckets. Supposedly she refused to make them in a glass or offer an alternative. After trying to talk some sense into this kid, we gave up, and asked for our checks. To top it all off, the guy charged us full price for our apps and we had to ask for their special (that they have posted on a large board at their outdoor bar). I looked for a manager to talk thing over with but couldn't find anyone with any look of discipline in the place. I'm over this place, along with my 6 friends. I am so outraged by the service here. Me and 7 other friends went here under a living social deal and had of the worst service in history. We ate at the new restaurant, a meal and drink was included in our living social package. We ordered two sets of appetizers, and 6 burgers and 2 brats, in which we chose from a list of about 6 items we could chose from from our living social deal. When we arrived the staff didn't even know about the food voucher but you would think management would have made all staff aware of the big living social group coming. We waited 45 minutes, without our waiter even looking our way to check on us or let us know about any status of food. Finally a friend decided to go ask the waiter, whom was just standing by the kitchen looking like a deer caught in lights, about the status of our appetizers since its had been over there for 45 minutes. She got right on it but while waiting for her to come back, another waiter while talking her coworker, says "Ugh I hate African Americans!". When they realize my friend is in shock looking at them after hearing that comment they quickly disperse. Then comes back the waiter with the appetizers and literally HANDS my friend her food instead of being the waiter she is paid to be and bringing them over to the table with proper utensils, napkins, and condiments. Now after a hour and 15 minutes, I had a conversation with the waiter and she said that our food was taking so long because we ordered "special" burgers, despite they were medium well and 2 of the orders were brats. There was nothing special about our order, especially since burgers were coming out of the kitchen to people who entered the restaurant AFTER us and ordered AFTER us and were eating while we continue to wait. But it wasn't until another group of living social guys, who came in about 30 minutes after us, received their burgers that we became completely over the situation. It became very clear that we were the only black people in the establishment yet was receieving the worst service you could ever think of, yet everybody's service was just fine aside of us. Then another person from our party said she was going to go speak to the manager, but when she arrived to the front and the waiter told the manager she wanted to speak to him, not even 5 feet away, the manager indicated "I don't want to speak to her so I don't know what you want me to do.". Our food arrives after almost 2 hours of just waiting, and just our burgers, because we had to wait another 10 minutes for our fries that come with the meal! Mind you the burgers weren't even on buns, it was on hard ciabatta bread because they ran out of buns. After we got out food, the owner came out to talk to us apologizing for his staff, which was very nice, BUT the fact that we were knowingly discriminated against should be grounds for dismissal for some of that staff, some things SHOULDN'T be unexceptionable. The fact that people came in after us, ordered food, ate food, and paid and left, all the while we were still waiting on our food is just horrible. We all tried to make the best of the situation despite it all, because we were there celebrating two of our friend's birthday that very day. And when it looked like it couldn't get any worse. I come home and my pictures that I paid over one hundred dollars for of my skydiving jump, isn't even on the disk. A blank disk!!!! It's been 2 days since I've emailed them (after calling and being told to email their media guy) and haven't heard anything back. I spoke with them this morning and basically was told he'll email me. You know, my skydiving experience, itself, was amazing, but all of this negativity has totally demised that entire moment. Thanks Chicago Skydiving Center for the worst service ever, I will never spend a penny with you guys again! I wish I could take my money back because it was totally a waste. read more

Stopped by CSC with a couple of friends and decided to stay and eat Dinner before heading back to Omaha. As a pilot that has frequented numerous restaurants "on the field", the Flight Deck Bar and Grill was great! A great, fun atmosphere that had several big screen TVs for the sports fanatics...we grabbed a booth but had an option of counter stools to watch the cooks (more like Chefs)...the menu was well laid out and had a variety of items...most anyone can find something they would like. The "burger" was not a typical one but came on a great, lightly grilled bun that had lots of flavor. Each bite was good and rated high for a burger. It came with "chips" and had a little sprinkle of parmesan that really added to the flavor. The cliental were mixed locals, sky divers and folks that had flown into KRPJ. Needless to say, we enjoyed everything about the place. If you are looking for a new place to get a decent meal, I would recommend the Flight Deck Bar & Grill at CSC. PS - they had drinks too but since we flew in, we passed on alcohol. read more

I am a staff member at Chicagoland Skydiving center and I couldn't be happier that we finally have an option for food and drinks on the drop zone other than power bars and sodas. Chef Jason and his crew have done a great job bringing a uniquely themed bar/restaurant to the Rochelle area, and it seems to be as popular with locals as it is with the weekend skydiving crew. Great to see so much energy on the drop zone after we are done jumping for the day. The staff is friendly and helpful and the menu is thoughtful and covers the usual bar restaurant basics plus a few specialties. There are a few vegetarian options on the menu and I have tried them all and found them to be quite tasty. I'm reserving my five star review for the day when they offer more vegetarian and vegan-friendly options. Even a simple veggie patty substitute for the burgers would go a long way towards making this my restaurant of choice in the Rochelle area. So come on out and skydive with us and then stay for some food and drinks at the Flight Deck! read more

Took my family here for dinner.I ordered the ribeye steak.It was horrible.No flavor ,poor cut of meat.It is a $28 steak.My wife ordered the spinach salad with steak .It was terrible as well.My kids got the mini cheeseburgers,they were terrible.Our service was horrible as well.We told our server about the poor quality of food.Then the manager came over and said let me take $20 off your bill and give you a gift card.I obliged,The waitress came back with the check,they took off $19 and gave us a $10 gift card for our next visit.Which I thought was not good enough.I don't understand why the service was so bad.There were only 4 tables with people.Do not eat here. read more

While traveling from Chicago to Omaha recently, my husband and I became hungry and wanted something besides typical fast food. Found out this was just off the interstate so thought we'd give it a try. It was a nice find. Our burgers were quite tasty and the server was very friendly. While we were there, we had the opportunity to go outside and watch a skydiving session, which was so much fun! What a unique experience! they must have been having a bad day. took FOREVER to get drinks. took EVEN LONGER to get food ordered. By the time food actually came we realized we were there for TWO HOURS. Almost felt like they didn't want us there or they didn't have time to deal with us. We were a party of five, nothing major. our waiter that sat us acted like he didn't want to seat us. almost like he was already overwhelmed, seriously had to turn around and look for him many many times. both my girlfriend and her mother ordered some kind of steak sandwiches. my girlfriend got hers, they wee small and cold. her mother had to wait another 10 minutes to get hers and they were bigger and just off the grill. absolutely positively certain we wont be going back. read more

This is a great bar and grill! The food is awesome, the service is great and the atmosphere is second to none. As a skydiver, I love that I can place an order in before my jump and have it ready for me after I come down. Another really cool thing about The Flight Deck is almost every night, most of the staff and jumpers from CSC come in for a drink or dinner. They are very sociable people and it is really cool to get to know the person that you just trusted your life with as you jumped from 14,000 ft! I have been making regular trips since June and always went to the Flight Deck. My last trip in August, there was a big drop in the quality of the food. I heard they made a change in the kitchen help. I went four nights straight to make sure it wasn't just a one night difference because of the excellent meals I received in June and July. I was disappointed each night. Who ever is cooking has no idea on how to cook raw meat. Everything was under cooked. You will probably be safe with the sandwiches using prepared food, but I would suggest staying away from anything that starts with raw meat. read more
