All I have heard for a while was how good the burgers were. Have to try the burgers. And now that I have, I cannot fathom how incredible the burger was. You think "what makes it different than other burgers" I cannot answer that. Our waitress couldn't answer that but we all agreed that these burgers are something else in the best way possible. You HAVE to try the burgers. It's cooked perfectly, so incredibly juice, toppings are flavored so so well. Sauces are fire. Bar food with a twist. That's how I would describe the grub at Pub 64. I keep forgetting to take photos when I am there. I have had a few things there. I would say the Banh Mi Salad was my least favorite. It was fine but did not taste like banh mi. The burgers are great. The Peanut Butter and Jealousy burger is made of two smash burgers, cheddar cheese, peanut butter, chili jam, bacon, and an over easy egg. I opted for no egg on mine. Not a fan of runny eggs on my burgers. I've always wanted to try a PBJ burger and finally worked up the courage to try it. If you like pbj sandwiches and burgers, you will like this. The Celine Dijon burger is a burger (I requested smash burgers), swiss cheese, sauteed mushrooms, grilled onions, and truffle dijonaise. It was very good. Very messy, but very good. I probably could've done with a little less dijonaise, but some would want more. Small bar, fun twists on bar food. Give it a try! read more

Could be the best bar in Sycamore, but that's not saying a lot because it's not exactly a place you would call cool. It has a pretty good menu of drinks, if not food. Pub 64 of course gets its name from being on that highway, in downtown Sycamore. Mostly locals who come here. The NIU students usually don't make it up here though. After hitting up another place for lunch, we stopped in for an evening. It was pretty quiet for a weekday evening, which could have been a bad sign. This turned out better than expected though. It has some good deals. There's usually something going on. It was $4.50 mixers. We got some cheap whiskey. As for the food, boring. The only vegetarian thing was the Pretzels. It's about $8 for a big one. This comes with a Lagunitas IPA pepper Jack ale cheese, but it's good with mustard though. Rest of the menu is meaty. They have things like burgers and pork. Good stuff for what they have. It has some pretty good prices on drinks so come thirsty. The food is pretty limited for vegans and vegetarians. read more

You know sometimes, when you pop into a new place, you sort of know that it's the spot where everyone in the area congregates? This is one of those places. Me and my baby decided to come eat on a nice day and luckily we got a window seat where the weather was perfect. I got a summer shandy beer and although we waited a long time for the waitress to get our food order, the food was pretty good. My baby got the goat cheese flatbread and I got the pork belly sandwich. It was pretty good but I think it could had done better without the egg. All the other flavors were amazing though. The chips were pretty good too, but next time I'll try fries. Never ate here before- noticed we got some looks for holding hands- I guess I can't be too mad about it, it is Dekalb County. Otherwise, I would come back to try that sliced beef sandwich. read more

Second time giving this place a try. Our first visit was nothing special and our second was worse. Food was not great and my wife got sick after eating the fried shrimp here. We have no desire to come back and prefer other local places to this one. Place is small and always hard to find a place to sit. Service is okay but nothing special either. We came in here to graze and enjoy a few drinks and were not disappointed. The service was excellent and prompt from the moment we arrived and chose our seats. We ordered two of the flatbreads and they were absolutely perfect for splitting between three people. The martinis my companions ordered were strong and my amaretto sour was quite sweet and I probably should have mentioned cutting some of the sweetness on my second one. Overall this was a perfect dining experience with the waitress and bartender checking on us at appropriate times and ensuring a pleasant experience. Would absolutely recommend it. read more

Every time I visit a new area, the first thing I do is look up the local food joints. Since I am only in for the night, I wanted to make sure I chose well. I found 3-4 locations on Yelp that I was interested in and my final decision was to go to Pub 64. I went fairly early on a Thursday afternoon so it wasn't busy and I was able to get a table immediately. The server was very friendly and I basically let her pick my meal. The burger was amazing as well as the sweet potato fries. I also really enjoyed the atmosphere and the place was very clean. 4 years later we tried again. The atmosphere is a little better and the staff is better. The menus is more interesting. They are offering a better selection of more imaginative dishes. The dish I wanted the first time back was out, so had a chicken sandwich that was a good idea but was dry. Needed more of the sauces and cool toppings. Meh. A week later came back for the first sandwich I wanted and they had it. It really wasn't with the wait. Maybe I built it up too much in my head and it could never have cleared the bar. The family had the taco special and they were very pleased. I tasted the watermelon pico and thought it was pretty imaginative. The draft beer selection had craft beers, but not very interesting ones. Maybe have a local selection. (Just not Forge, they can't brew a decent beer to save their business) I'll go back sometime. read more

I'm here for this fantastic food almost once a week. You've done a FABULOUS job with the revamped menu. I'm so impressed with your servers especially Alysa one of the bartenders. She should have her pay tripled. The Sunday menu is a nice change and the option on the menu of buying the kitchen staff a round is fun. Two things that are NOT fun is the absence of Hacker-Pschorr on your beer menu. Nearly every bar in town has it. Not you. I know you have Blue Moon but that is a totally different bier. Second, for the love of sweet baby Jesus.... Get a side salad choice on the menu!!!! You have wonderful salads as entrees but how hard would it be to do a small version of your petite salad?!? Charge $4 or so and we'd have a choice from potato chips or fries. Again... every place in town has a side salad. Not here. Other than these two minor points... you're killin' it. read more

Service was prompt and good. Enjoyed the large open window facing the street, really opens up the space and allows fresh air in on a nice night. The drink selection is okay, nothing super special. I ordered the pub nachos and was disappointed with them. They are a very American take on nachos...the chips are the parmesan potato chips first off, the shredded chicken has zero flavor and the cheese sauce sits at the bottom of the plate more like a dipping sauce. Overall nachos were super bland. The Matador burger was much better, good flavors together and had the heat I was looking for. Yukon fires were hot and cooked to perfection. Get the burgers! Everyone raves about their burgers. So I tried a juicy Lucy which after watching a lot of Food Network shows I had a certain expectation of what this would be. I was very disappointed. It's supposed to be a burger with cheese in the middle, like a filling. Mine ended up like a double cheeseburger with almost no cheese. And the bar was out of every soda except coke or Diet Coke. My boys and I were looking for a reason to head to Sycamore for dinner from Western St. Charles so that we'd be conveniently near Ollie's for some dessert custard. After looking through some options decided to try Pub 64. My kids aren't very adventurous so they fought me a bit and wanted something they already know and like. Nevertheless, I was providing the transportation, and off we went. I had the "Not Your Momma's BLT," and my kids had a couple of Craft Burgers and a pork belly flatbread. I'm generally not generous with giving 5 star reviews, but the two kids eating the burgers (which have a heavy layer of cheese, a lot of bacon, and a fried egg on top) BOTH said that this was the best burger they had ever eaten. Seriously. These are teens and they were super impressed. The wait for the food was a tad on the long side, but the atmosphere in the restaurant was nice, with just the right amount of TV's. The waitresses were all super friendly and even entertaining to a degree. This all made the wait perfectly acceptable. It's a nice place to have to wait 5 extra mins for your food. I'll just say that. My BLT had a layer of pork belly, cooked very nicely and full of flavor, and was served with a layer of some kind of spicy mayo, which was outstanding. Honestly, it might have been the best sandwich I have had in years. It was downright amazing and had just the right amount of spice, and freshness and flavor. I can't wait to have it again. The boys both raved throughout eating their burgers. My 11 yr old couldn't finish his but wanted to bring the other half home to put in his school lunch on Monday. They both very much enjoyed their fries and I had the home made potato chips, which were very good (I don't usually like homemade chips!). My 16 yr old ordered a porkbelly Asian zing flatbread thingy that he said he very much enjoyed. I tried some of it and loved it. This joint is well worth a visit. I can't imagine someone not liking this spot. Their menu is somewhat limited, but I consider that a good thing. Although it's a somewhat smaller menu, there are plenty of things for kids and plenty of different items that look pretty good. We can't wait to go back and try it again. Considering it's the best sandwich I've had in years, and my two boys both rated it the best burgers of their lives, I can't give a rating below 5 stars! Stumbled upon this place via Yelp. This is a super cute upscale bar/ restaurant. Wait staff was wonderful and had a lot of good recommendations. I had the Italian beef burger with fries. When it arrived i was a little disappointed that i received banana peppers instead of the giardiniera that was detailed in the menu. The burger itself was great, cooked perfectly. The fries were a little lack luster, and the side of coleslaw was like... a mayo salad. They have a wide variety of beers on tap, and speciality drinks. I have been here three times in past two weeks since visiting here. First of all the service was incredible. Beth is so friendly. If she is not ur server then ask for her. The food is great. I had the Thai chicken wrap one night and spinach grilled chicken salad on another. Beer and drink selection also good. I would say this place is a hidden gem in dekalb sycamore area.
