We haven't been here in at least 10 years tried it on a Friday night. Live music and all the bar patrons are extremely loud, so if you want a quiet relaxing dinner or want to hear what your wife is saying, this isn't the place. The fish fry was good. Got some lunch at this place in Sycamore downtown. It actually is located in the historic courthouse so it's a good place to go after getting released or after seeing a judge. PJ's has a lot of typical tavern fare including booze and fried stuff. Also some things are healthier. The prices aren't that bad especially with the specials they often have so ask about these. Came at lunch and we got seats at the bar. It's got enough room that you could bring a group. There's also more dining on another side so plenty of tables. Has pretty much what's expected at a tavern as far as drinks and food. It's about $5 for the cheapest cocktails, so okay prices. The best one of these we had was the Wheatley Vodka Club, which is ironically pretty simple. It's $11 for the Beyond Burger. This comes with lettuce, onions, and tomatoes. Fries are on the side or you can get something else. The rest of the menu is pretty meaty with things like burgers, hot dogs, and the Italian beef sandwiches. Has a lot of things to like here. I really like this bar and restaurant. Very friendly service as soon as we walked in. A good vibe and comfortable. The building has exposed brick and an old saloon type ceiling. It is a big place. They make their own Bloody Mary mix and it is yummy! Solid bar food. We had pretzel nuggets with mustard and an amazing garlic parmesan dipping sauce. I like that the pretzel is broken up into pieces. The southwest egg rolls were good with a dipping sauce. The breaded pork tenderloin is huge! It comes with plenty of iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, onions and a tasty honey mustard sauce. The fries are addictively good. They have seasonal drink and food specials. The Buffalo Chicken Wrap at PJ's is the best buffalo chicken wrap I've ever had!! Their mix of crispy chicken with buffalo sauce, cheese, lettuce & tomato is absolutely amazing. For a small town dive bar, it was surprisingly pretty good. We stopped in for a late lunch. They have a decent amount of craft brews both on draft and in bottles/cans. I ordered their Dixie salad that came with grilled chicken. For being a dive bar, I definitely was impressed with the chicken quality. This is my go-to in Sycamore, that'll tell you all you need to know! I visits Pj's Courthouse Tavern & Grill at LEAST once a month. It's awesome! Great atmosphere, always has sports on. Everything you need from a sports bar. The burgers are great, and I am a super fan of the Buffalo Chicken dip! The waitresses are always cool and jolly, which always gets me jolly, it's contagious! Only knocks I have is the pricing, and the wait time, other than that it is spot on for a Sports Bar. Pj's gets 4 stars!!! Always a great choice! read more

IF you have any kind of Disability do not go! they will hold it against you. that is is even IF you can get into the building. I am a 50 yr old man with cerbal palsy and hearing loss. they treated me terrible claiming i was drunk when i just wanted food and watch monday night football! first time i ignored it. but it happened again. no notice from management or such. they just do not care. stay away if you do not fit in the perfect box. which is to bad. the food and drinks are great. the food is great. but the costumer servers sucks. read more

This is my go to place. You know the one. It's a place that may not be the best, but they are consistently good. I've had the the burgers, which are very tasty and on Fridays, the fish dinner. A chunk of cod, fillet of walleye and a fillet of catfish with fries and slaw. Too much to finish, but at what you pay, too good of a price to pass up. This is one of the places we have wanted to try in Sycamore, and the chance finally came up. We dropped in on a Tuesday night for dinner. We grabbed a few seats on the right side at a table, and were greeted with Autumn, who was our server. They have a lot of beers on tap, (4 different antique Schlitz signs, several noting Schlitz on tap, but that wasn't the case - not the end of the world), and I picked a Smithwicks Red Ale pint, while my wife tried their Kentucky Lemonade. The beer was fresh and tasted great. The Kentucky Lemonade tasted liked hard lemonade. Dinner wise, my wife had their Philly Cheesesteak sandwich with a cup of cream of chicken soup, and I had their Frisco Burger with fries. Both sandwiches were served hot and fresh from the kitchen - these clearly came out quickly (good job Autumn!) once prepared. Atmosphere - uh, it's a BAR. Get over it. TVs showing sports events on the wall, lots of eye candy on the walls (including the aforementioned Schlitz signs (back wall, front wall over window, 2 on the bar). Called to ask if we could sit & eat on the patio w/our dog. Manager said, yes. When we got there they wouldn't allow it. Additionally they seem to be "out of" lots of menu items. We went for the 25th anniversary and they had a pig roast, 2.50 a plate! The pork was amazing and the bbq sauce was perfect with it! This was a great time! Wish I lived in sycamore so I could visit more often for some brews! read more

This is the place to grab a bite when you're meeting someone in Sycamore. For a while to food was not as good as it is now. Under COVID it seems they made some changes and it shows. I had the Bavarian with a side of garlic house dressing and it hit the spot. If pub food is your craving don't think twice, the burger and frisco Chicken are well done without being too fancy. If it's nice out try the patio but they're open Mondays and many others aren't. read more

This is a really nice neighborhood bar of a kind you don't see much anymore that has been here forever. The menu is a just-right array of food a significant cut above bar food and it's all good. But the wait staff needs a major attitude adjustment. They are extremely unpleasant. We waited to be seated while two waitresses ignored us and then one of them snapped "Sit anywhere." After our "starter" (excellent onion rings) and drinks I asked for flatware and napkins and she looked at me like I was a moron for not realizing she would eventually get them for us. I'd like to return to try some other items on the menu . My husband and kids ordered traditional and boneless wings which they also enjoyed . This place seems to do a little bit of everything on the weekends and evenings. Because of this, we ended up stopping in a couple of times on our long weekend visit. The first time was to see a band play and the second was to play some WINGO (wing night plus bingo)! The same waitress waited on us both times and you could tell that she had been there for quite some time and was very good at her job. She was attentive without doing much interrupting and quick to make great suggestions when asked. The music was super loud and made it hard to have a conversation but if you think of it as a concert, it wasn't too bad. Wingo was fun and the long-time host was very good at enunciating and explaining the rules throughout the night. If I lived locally, Wingo would probably become a regular part of my weekly routine! Overall the prices are right, the drinks are cold, and the service is good. read more
