In town on a work trip. This place is always a go to. It's so fun in the summer to watch the sky divers land right in the back of the eating area. Highly entertaining. The atmosphere is great and the food is always amazing. We started out with the firecracker shrimp, it's even amazing when I pick all the breading off #keto. Had my usually salmon Caesar salad and it was awesome. Comes with a huge piece of salmon and the dressing is great. I wish I would have remembered to take a picture when it came out pretty, but I was hungry and started eating it's delishness right away. If you are in the area, you need to stop here. A thoroughly enjoyable place, which is usually packed to the gills most nights and weekends. The joint is at the airport in the same building as the skydiving establishment so of course it has an aviator motif. Drinks are good and reasonably priced, so it gets rowdy. They take food seriously in here, though. This ain't no lukewarm food for old farts. The coca-cola pork sandwich rocked, as do their traditional and turkey reubens. The simple D.B. Cooper burger is great and they have some 'murrica burgers as well for the incurably fat. I think the apps make it, though. Nachos, wings, curds, fried pickles are all upper cut, but first try the Jet Hots, the best jalapeño popper app I've ever tried. The only thing I haven't tried is their signature dish, their version of Mac and cheese which was on WGNs Chicago's Best. That's next because it looks totally decadent, and I, even myself, am going to need to psych myself up for it. read more

Both experiences were great. The staff is friendly, attentive, and helped work with me to figure out what I can eat. This is one of my very favorite Yelp! finds yet! I love to find really neat experiences for meals while traveling, especially with 2 little kids. We've found neat venues (train car, old schoolhouse, etc.) and some amazing views. I generally don't care about the food much (unless it's horrible) if the restaurant is neat enough. This place was great all around! We came through Rochelle to see the train park. On our way into town we spotted some skydivers and we're excited to watch them land as they seemingly disappeared behind the corn fields. Imagine my excitement at seeing this place when I was looking up a lunch place while we waited between train watching! I'm personally quite scared of heights so would never imagine sky-diving, but I also find it really interesting and amazing, I've just never seen it this close! We LOVED watching the planes (my son thinks they are all big "Dusty Crophopper"s for you Disney fans) and then the jumpers coming down and landing right near us! The restaurant is cute and has amazing skydiving pictures all around it. There were a number of tables outside (luckily with umbrellas for a little shade too). There's a big lawn, a beach volleyball court, some additional picnic tables. It's really a cute and delightful place even if all the skydiving wasn't happening, so that just really makes it that much cooler. The food was good. I didn't expect much but we actually really liked it. They have a number of different sandwiches and even a handful of good salad options too with all different protein add-on options. They have a great kids menu too! My daughter had a hot dog and chips. The hotdog and bun were big and good, nothing Oscar Meyer basic here! And the chips seemed hand cut and freshly made and were delicious (and I'm not usually a huge potato chip person). My son's grilled cheese wasn't the basic either. Instead of a dinky single slice of American cheese on bunny bread or something, this was a big solid slice of cheese perfectly grilled on big Texas toast. He got delicious sweet potatoes fries on the side too and it was enough to take home his leftovers for another meal! We also got cheese curds for appetizers. It was probably twice as many as we needed and they were a little saltier than my personal preference but we enjoyed quite a lot of them! For my meal I got the Quinoa Citrus Salad which sounded hit or miss but if I was going to try it I decided go big or go home so instead of chicken or shrimp as a more likely add-on, I went with the pulled pork. It was great. I could have used just a tad more Citrus vinaigrette to make it all just a bit juicier, but I really enjoyed it a lot and would definitely recommend it. Prices were super reasonable. Our waitress was attentive and understanding of timing and needs with two little kids. I highly recommend this place and hope we pass by the area again to go back to it!! We flew into the Rochelle airport to eat here. It was 1:20 on a Sunday afternoon. The hostess was no where to be seen and another couple were already waiting. We waited as well. After we got impatient and asked a waitress, how to get seated, the hostess suddenly appeared. Took another wait to get water. We ordered as soon as our waitress came to the table. It took 30 minutes to get a wrap sandwich and a flatbread from the appetizer menu. Once we got our food it was tasty. And we like the potion sizes (meaning not huge). If you come here just to eat or stop here before or after your skydive, this place is great! I spent a weekend at the drop zone and ate quite a few things here and everything I had was good. If you're here during skydiving season, I suggest sitting outside and watching the skydivers! If you haven't been skydiving or seen skydivers, you're up close and personal and it's pretty awesome! They have an outdoor volleyball court in the sand, a huge grassy area, it's awesome for kids and adults. The staff is all super friendly especially the bartenders! This has got to be the coolest place in and near Rochelle! read more

Went there today, Sunday 8/30 @ 1:30 pm. First, the food was great!! That's where the good times end sadly. My server suggested a beer that I really didn't like, took a sip or two and ordered something else. She charged me for the beer anyway ( not cool ). Mask wearing is mandated by the state but the woman expiditing plates and running ALL the food, was not wearing one. She was also chewing gum with her mouth wide open!! Servers were drinking from cups in plain view of the customers. This was not acceptable behavior in my opinion. I don't feel like our safety and well-being were being considered. We had to make a few trips to the skydive center because of the weather. So while waiting a few times and when our ladies finally jumped, we hung out here at the Flight Deck. Now these were all early morning or noon visits. So that does have an effect on any bar and grill. We did eat there once and the food was great. The service was good and friendly too. During one visit, I tried a beer and didn't like it much. The waitress noticed it and took it off the bill without asking. That is great service. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because i felt the breakfast menu could be a little bit more on the options side. read more

I just spent the weekend visiting Chicagoland Skydiving Center and I have to say the food here is absolutely fantastic! Clean facilities, awesome views of skydiving and great energy! Every point of contact that I had with staff was excellent. What really surprised me as the quality of the food. The food was excellent with a wide variety on the menu. I highly recommend the DB Cooper burger. I also had the Cobb Salad with Chicken which was also excellent. Come early as they get busy especially on the weekends, but this is the best place to eat in Rochelle....hands down! read more

My husband and I flew here from just outside Chicago, just to take a short flight on a nice day and have some dinner. He'd been here before, but it was my first visit. He had the mini burgers with a lemonade (he's the pilot, I'm the passenger) and I had the Cobb salad and a gin and tonic. We sat outside and it was really nice. Really sweet and attentive servers at this family style restaurant + sports bar, but I was unimpressed with the quantity of food provided for a midwestern place. I had the grilled chicken sandwich with asparagus (which was the chef's vegetable). I was not happy that my grilled asparagus seemed burnt instead of "charred", and my chicken sandwich was a bit bland. However, the ingredients were fresh, and I didn't feel stuffed and food coma afterwards, which is also good (but I was a bit hungry still! haha!). Not much more you can say about food when it is OK. The service was good. It was perhaps to attentive as I was asked no less than four times how everything was, but I had two servers one being a trainee. Being called 'honey' buy a young attractive 20 something was a bit annoying but I guess it was better than curmudgeon :-) The view was nice, the place was way clean including restrooms.
