Nestled back in the old military base, with old military aircraft scattered about, you'll find the gem known A's Flight Deck Brewing. These guys are one of my top five personal favorite breweries in the state. They have a good selection of beers on tap as well as canned from ales to IPAs to darks. They also have a food truck onsite that has some amazing food and a ton of indoor and outdoor seating. Given the current pandemic, they also sell some cool 'Maine specific' mask! If you don't want to venture out, they have you covered there too. I wish we would have found this brewery sooner than we did while on vacation. Out of the breweries we visited, this was easily one of my favorites. First of all - I absolutely loved the theme. What a way to take what is there and run with it. We visited on a Thursday night and each had a flight. I liked all 4 beers that I had. All the beers had names that went with the flight theme. I really enjoyed the sour that I had. When we went back on Friday night, I ordered a pint of just the sour - it was that good! Both days we were there, it was raining so we didn't get to check out the outdoor space but it looked amazing! I would definitely spend more time here if I was in the area. They had a food truck on Friday night that my friend got some chips and guac from. She said it was delicious. There seemed to always be something going on at the brewery. We played trivia Thursday night and there was to be live music on Friday night (although we didn't stay for that). Great beer. Great space. I would definitely stop in again if I was in the area. read more

Pizza was good but overpriced. Customer service is less than ok. It's close to us but not our go to place. The first time we came here, we left without ordering anything as it stunk. They do make their own beer here but it's dirty. The pizza gets made in the building across the way. I don't see the high rating. read more

This place has most fantastic sunsets streaming through the large windows (which roll open in the summer). Had great pre-Super Bowl wood fired pizzas and hand crafted beer and cider. The "Light The Fires" beer has a soft spicy bite and the cider was perfect for a seasonally warm February Sunday afternoon. Great music playing in the background. Very relaxing! Amazing atmosphere! We brought our friends here who were visiting from the Bay Area, and who also work at a brewery! They were super impressed with the vibe of the venue and really appreciated the friendly staff. We ordered a couple pizzas which were genuinely super good. Maine is not short for breweries, but this was one of the favorites we stopped at on our trip up the coast. The beers we tried were all good, but the atmosphere and venue and are really what make it stand out. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, along with a pizza food truck people were raving about. The aviation theme was all pretty cool without being too kitschy. If I lived in the area, it would be a regular hang. Only downside was there were a ton of mosquitoes outside where we sat and got eaten up pretty good, so bring bug spray! read more

First, my husband was a P-3 pilot for 26 years...so this place warms our hearts. He even found a friend's flight suit on the wall :) Second, we absolutely loved the logo (P-3) and all the nods to Naval Aviation & antisubmarine warfare. Third, the beer & pizza are really good. Authentic wood-fired in "Hangar 18". The atmosphere is really fun, open air or inside options, games & small dining huts...our weather wasn't great, but I imagine on a sunny afternoon this is a terrific family place! read more

We stopped here on a very busy trivia night. We were passing through and simply wanted a pizza to go. First visit but pizza highly recommended by close friend. Worked our way through the crowd and found the spot to order. The gentleman taking our order could not have been nicer. Explained their process and how they source local Maine ingredients. They had a great selection of beers. Most breweries in Maine I feel have 8 different selections of IPA's or other hoppy beers. Flight deck offered a really nice dark Mexican lager and Czech lager for us non IPA fans. very family friendly and the bartenders we had were awesome. The beer selection was diverse and of great quality, and iIt also looked like they were setting up a great canopied lawn with lights being strung up, but they were still assembling when I was there so I can't speak to what it ended up looking like. All in all, a great spot right in Brunswick if you're in town and or driving up or down the coast. read more

This is a very cool place. Its rather lonely among a field of statued airplanes, but the space is industrially lovely. Entering the tasting room takes you into an all concrete structure with wide open garage type doors allowing light to flood in. Sucks during sunset periods because the sun might blind you. The menu is written on a chalkboard with a strong red emphasis on their hibiscus. Of course, being the non beer drinker, I go for anything unconventional in beer. Note that my favorite beer is peanut butter beer. I got a little glass of it and enjoyed a long slow afternoon with my friends and completely forgot about the beer. Granted it was a nice light beer, perfect for my dislike of bitterness, but lacking in any strong fruity undertones that I expected. Try it out, its a neat place, but I don't know much about beer so I don't have much to say about it. read more

One of their really friendly staff members will greet you and ask what you'd like with a smile. They'll talk beer as much as you want or don't want. I was here on a Thursday at lunchtime so it wasn't crazy busy, but I bet this place is fun on a weekend evening. What a great place - we arrived at 5ish and got a Picknick table outside - then ordered beer and wood-oven pizza - both were super yummy! Flight deck brewing has a great set-up on the premises next to a decommissioned military airport - can't think of a better way to re-develop this area. This brewery is new, so they have some kinks to work out. The building is fun. Great use of space. It becomes loud when the place fills up. One open space, so all noise echoes and voices become indistinguishable. It has plenty of light and has Wifi, so that is a plus. They do serve some food there, hot pretzels and chips. They have a fridge with non alcoholic drinks. The service is friendly, but staff becomes overwhelmed easily. There seems to be one speed for staff, and when crowds are coming in and people are at the bar, there seems to be disconnect to who should be served first. I watched people stand there for long periods of time, while other areas of the bar were served immediately. At one point I sat for 15 minutes with my first beer empty, while the bartender washed dishes directly in front of me; there were only 10 other people in the whole place drinking at that point. They are new, so I hope they figure it out. The beers. I first drank the oatmeal stout. It fell short. it is very thin. It was the most tasteless oatmeal stout I've ever drank. It tastes like a brown ale and looks it in color. It is like a red stout. The porter is ok. Everyone has been raving about it. It is a Rye Porter, but is very brown not dark enough for my tastes. Not robust at all. After these two beers left me yearning for something better, and the place was filling up, becoming increasingly louder with a cacophony of voices, I decided to cut my losses. Maybe they excel in their IPAs, but my favorites are darks, so I always try those first. Like I said, they are a new brewery, hopefully they get better, and taste is all subjective. read more

A great way to spend a bitter cold winter afternoon (and I hope to check it out next summer when the windows are open and there is outdoor seating). We tried a few beers - in pints and a flight sample, too - and ordered from the BBQ food truck parked outside (and taking orders inside, TG, since it was sub-zero Fahrenheit). The Subhunter IPA was the favorite and was very smooth despite its 9.1% alcohol content. The P3 pale ale was decent and the Rye Wing Porter drew a positive review from our group. For a different look and taste, the pink Tea-56 Hibiscus was a light and citrusy pale ale that I enjoyed. The location is a bit isolated - on a redeveloped former naval air base where my dad was stationed long ago - but still 10-15 minutes from downtown Brunswick. This place would really pop if it was on the river or on Maine Street, but c'est la vie. The brewery and tasting room are in the former shooting range for soldiers, so it is long and narrow albeit now with good natural lighting and garage door windows on one side. Staff were friendly and relaxed: join them for an afternoon one of these days! read more

Their beer is excellent and not only do they keep a core of selection on tap, but they are always experimenting with small batches to offer a broad variety choices. Coupled that with the food trucks, this winter it has been Cook's Lobster House (I need to write a review for them, excellent) and you have a winning combination. The atmosphere is also a joy. A large open tasting room and when the weather cooperates the large overhead doors are opened allowing you to freely move from inside to out. I'm writing this from Flight Deck . My sister had s small group of 7 people meet at Flight Deck for pizza and beer for her birthday. None of us had more than 2 beers in a 2 hour period. One of our group (a mom with two kids with her) went to fill the last bar ticket for the group and was denied service by a female server "because she'd had two beers". Nobody in the group are big drinkers. Mist of us are in our 60's. She and two others are Captains of commercial charter boats, she had her children with her, and I'm a commercial pilot (been there many times with other pilots) We're all subject to drug and alcohol restrictions. Obviously, my sister and brother in law have been there before, or the party would have been held elsewhere. So one of our group cashed in the last ticket and gave the beer to her. Probably not the smartest move, but she's in her 40's, not underaged. Ten minutes later, (obviously not drinking that fast), the manager came over to tell her she couldn't "serve herself" and to defend his employees call. He very quickly went to, "I'm not going to argue this with you" when several people told him how offensive and wrong they thought it was. There is nobody in the group that is even tipsy, much less drunk. As I sit here I've watched several people walk back with multiple beers in hand, and watched that server drinking beer herself (how many I have no idea). Many of the tables are getting loud and I've been here often enough to know two beers is no limit here. All in all, a real disappointing evening, and embarrassing for my friend. Nobody will dare argue the call with the ump, but it was wrong, and the followup was just stupid. Customers can vote with their feet: 6 loyal repeat customers gone for one very subjective and unreasonable judgement. So be it. The ump was wrong and has to live with it. Not that I think he'll care. read more

This brewing company has delicious beer and pizza cooked in a beautiful outside oven on site. There are ample seats both undercover and open air, very nice picnic tables among the options for outdoor seating. I ordered a flight of beer with the help of a female bartender. This was my first time here and I'm happy my local family recommended the Flight Deck. When I return to Maine this fall, I'll be sure to come by for lunch or dinner. The bruschetta pizza was delicious and I also want to try the pesto pizza with my remove B4 flight beer that I enjoyed the most. I hope you will have a good experience too. Flight Deck Brewing is probably my favorite brewery to visit in the state. It manages to be all of the fun of hitting Allagash and the nearby breweries all on its own. The beer is incredible. There's something for every taste on tap, and plenty of it. There were two sours on tap when I visited that absolutely blew me away. There isn't always food, but when there is, it's always something incredible. Some friends and I went recently and they had shaved steak sandwiches. If they aren't doing food, there's always local popcorn on sale to snack on. Flight Deck also boasts an incredible amount of indoor and outdoor seating, accessed through a large sliding door on nice days, that both manage to never feel cramped. From picnic tables to leather couches to Adirondack chairs to bar seating, there's room for your whole party. They also have TVs, cornhole, a massive fire pit, and a mountain of board games, so you can spend a good amount of time here. Bring sunscreen. Honestly, I can't wait to go back. I expect to spend a good amount of $ here this summer, and you should too, because it's worth every penny. read more
