Came in on Monday 10/21/24 with my friend and her family - her husband and 3 young kids. We had planned to go to Gritty's because it was beautiful out and Gritty's has a play space for kids, but alas, they were closed. We sat outside and the large patio doors from the restaurant were open. There are 8 or so large picnic tables and a couple groupings of Adirondack chairs. There are several signs asking parents to keep their kids at their tables with them and not to allow them to run around. I've been here before and really enjoyed it. I've also been to Nighthawk who supplies the food for Mast Landing and absolutely lived Nighthawk. We had an amazing experience there a couple years ago. The adults ordered each had a beer, they each had a Windbreaker and I had a Glad You Could Make It. They liked theirs and I liked mine as well. We ordered bento boxes for all 3 kids - (2) grilled cheese and (1) burger. While $16 for a kids meal seems like a lot - they do come with a side, drink and dessert. The adults ordered several appetizers to share. We had a fantastic array of snacks! Pizza Sticks - hear me out. These are not your average pizza sticks. They have ricotta and more pepperoni than a large pizza has! Corn Fritters - crispy outside and sweet inside Chips and Queso - thin, crispy chips and a lot of queso! The queso was a little spicy and the heat started to build, but not overly spicy. Shaved Brussels Sprout Caesar - this was the highlight for me. It was the best Caesar salad I've had. I'm guessing they make their own dressing and if they don't - I NEED to know where they buy it. The shaved parm on top and the crumbled croutons were the perfect touch. I liked the little bits of crunch in lots of bites vs a big crouton every couple bites. In a nutshell - this place is awesome, I highly recommend it. read more

This Mast Landing location has everything I want in a brewery: plenty of room inside, lots of seating options, a big outdoor space, and awesome pours. It's a massive place, and they even serve up real food (not just the usual pretzels and chips) thanks to Nighthawk Kitchen; the food's actually pretty good. If you're into IPAs, you'll be right at home here. I tried two during my last visit, and both were solid 4/5s. They mostly focus on IPAs, but they've got a few stouts and some fruity beers mixed in too. What really stood out for me is how much space there is to hang out. Inside, you've got couches, tables, and bar seating, so you can settle in wherever you feel comfortable. Outside, there's a huge patio with grass, adirondacks, and picnic tables. Even though it's close to the highway, it's surprisingly not that loud. One thing to note: it's VERY family-friendly. You'll probably see a bunch of kids and dogs around, which didn't bother us, but if you're trying to get away from that scene, it might not be the vibe you're after. Fantastic place to grab a beer!!! The staff are excellent, friendly and quick. You barely have to wait to be served a beer. Their brew team makes such tasty beer, they do a great job of making everything from lighter lagers to dark chocolate stouts. I'd give 6 stars if I could. read more

The 5-star is strictly because of the ambiance and experience. The beer was a delicious bonus. We stumbled upon this location when we wanted to eat next door at Nighthawks Kitchen. Nighthawks dining room was full so we decided to order takeout and sit in the brewery. They have a takeout window that connects the restaurant to the brewery. The bartender was super friendly and helped us pick out some beer for our taster. There wasn't a beer we didn't enjoy. Easy-to-spot blue building right off the highway, in a shopping center with easy parking. Great views of the beer making apparatus, spacious seating, and even outdoor seating. It's order-at-the-bar only, but staff is friendly, you can open a tab, and flights make for easy sampling of their many beers, some of which are my favorites. You can also order food from Nighthawk's Kitchen (I recommend), which shares the same building and has a service window right into Mast Landing. And if you're into bar crawls, Maine Beer Company is right down the street (I kinda think of Mast Landing as the Mary Ann to Maine Beer's Ginger). read more

Great spot right off the exit on 295 in Freeport. Loved the large parking lot and there appeared to be a nice patio area for outdoor sitting and eating. We sat at the bar on a busy weeknight in July. The bartender was friendly and attentive but not too hovering, which was nice. Beer is ordered at the bar and food is ordered via QR code from the adjacent restaurant. My fish taco were very good, had a bit of a kick but not too spicy. The star of the show was the burger. I think it was a smash burger. Absolutely delicious. The hand cut fries were also awesome- hot with a nice crisp. Beers were good, I enjoyed their flagship IPA. Definitely a keeper when in the area. read more

Mast Landing has opened their new location in Freeport! Great outdoor seating with large picnic tables and umbrellas. Cornhole and Adirondacks outside. Little kids and pups welcome. Order inside and carry out. There is plenty of indoor, AC seating as well. Draft menu of about 12 -14 beers and extensive can / to go menu. I believe you can purchase cans to drink on site as well. They take all cards (including Amex). Nighthawk Kitchen food truck set up for food options. There is a pretty cool Portland Press Herald article on the chef. Plenty of parking. Since they are new there was not signage on the main road. Just put Shaws (grocery) Freeport and they are located in the cool glassfront buildings to the left. Just off the 295 Freeport exit # 20. We stopped here for some lunch on the way to our final destination. Loved the decor, the bar and the outside dining area (see video). Have a dog? Then there's plenty of room in the grassy outside seating area for fido. We didn't drink the beer but we had the burger and fries. The burgers were the smash burger type and had a nice crispy exterior to the meat. Burgers were cooked nicely and the brioche bun was a perfect pairing. The shoestring fries were fresh cut and delicious. We'll be back to eat and try the beer next time but for now the food is 5 stars. read more

I had no idea Mast Landing had a Freeport location, which is my loss up until this point! It's a bright, open space with tons of seating and a beautiful sunset view out the back garage windows. Mast Landing has loads of rotating drafts, one for every beer palette - IPAs, sours, stouts - you can't go wrong with any of them! I'm particularly fond of the Gunner's Daughter, and they currently have that in a couple different variations: one with coconut and one that is a coffee stout collab with Rwanda Bean - DELICIOUS! As for the staff - they are friendly and knowledgeable about what they're brewing, and can definitely steer you in the right direction if you're unsure of what beer you may like (they will let you taste test anything you want before you commit to one!) AND DID YOU KNOW - they have an in-house kitchen (Nighthawk's Kitchen) that serves up some tasty bites to go with your brews! I don't love breweries that use Untappd for their menu display because it's hard to see and you don't get any info about the beer, but that's not enough to cause them to lose a star. They just wanted to pour beer and send you on your way. Food truck was meh. As a non-cell phone user, it's difficult to order food when that seems to be the only option. I'll always have a soft spot for MLBC's Westbrook location because I visited in their earliest days but having a second location in Freeport is amazing because we always visit each trip because of the LL Bean campus. Man, this is my Go To place, it's about forty minutes away and worth every second of the drive. What a cool, clean vibe serving up really crisp beers. I've really never been disappointed. I would suggest: a board game or two, and a few more food options, but that's just nitpicking. This has now passed Allagash for my local, quality brewery of choice. Sorry no photos, trust me the beers are all good! I chose this place bc of it's depth of choices besides IPAs- they have those, to be sure! Wow! Decided to stop in here in a Friday with the wife after work and was totally impressed. We had been here before for the great beer but had not had the adjoining Nighthawk Kitchen food. People at work said it was good so I gave it a go. The food was phenomenal. We had the locally made pretzel bites with queso, green chili sliders and triple roast beef sandwich with string fries. This review was written for the burger joint next door, but because at the time they were "serving" burgers in this establishment, this review also falls here. While a majority of the review has to do with the burger, I am leaving a review here because the customer service for this establishment was horrendous. Very rude, not helpful, and ignorant. The rest that follows is of that experience. Unfortunately, my visit was not that great and the food was subpar, especially for the prices. The customer service for this establishment was non existent, and the service at the bar was terrible. After a long hike that day, we were hungry. Noticing from the parking lot, though. The place was packed. Tons of people inside the establishment, but they were all their drinking at the bar, not ordering food. Only one other couple in the store had food. My friend and I are big burger guys, and since he's visiting from Italy and they don't do much with burgers, we had to try this new local place. Not only was it very confusing to find out how to place an order, as there was no customer service, just a random tablet in the corner, the menu was very limited, the kiosk was confusing to use and quite pricey. We both ordered a burger and a fries to split. After finally having placed our order, we stopped at the bar, got a couple of drinks and sat down and waited. And waited. And waited. For a very long time. Again, the place was packed, but no one was ordering food. Maybe because they were only there to drink, or because they, as well, were confused on how to actually place an order. We waited 45 minutes before I finally went to the bar to ask if they even got our order. The people at the bar, though, don't even work for the restaurant. It's next door. The kiosk is there to place the order and they'll buzz your phone when it's ready. Eventually, an hour after ordering, our food was ready. The phone said to pick the food up next to the bar. We go to the bar and are again confused on where to go. The bar tender, begrudgingly, tells us it's around the corner. We finally find it, bring it to our table and are starving at this point. When we take our first bites, it was very disappointing. The food was cold. Like sitting on the counter for 30 minutes cold. I quickly looked around again, and still saw no one else had food. So the only assumption I had was they finished our order quite a while ago, but forgot to tell us and it sat on the counter. I wish I could say it was only it being cold that was the problem. The burgers were bland, no salt or pepper to season it. The buns were hard, possibly from sitting around for so long. We went to the bar, once again, and they are the only customer service there, to tell them our burger was cold. With an attitude, they informed us that the burgers are not their thing and it's not their problem. They are the only customer service there and there bar is serving the burgers in their establishment. So, yes, it is absolutely their problem. If you are looking for a very overcrowded, loud, drunker place to eventually get cold, bland food and attitude from the service, this will be your spot. Edit: Because you cannot reply to owners, I will add that while a lot of this review has to do with the other establishment, this also has to do with the very poor service of this establishment. The men at the bar were very rude and ignorant. And the reply back from the ownership ignored that fact, while also seeming to make excuses like "other places are just like this". We've been to many other brewery's with food trucks, and they were great and worked well. This establishment not only doesn't work well, the service for your brewery side was very rude. read more

Spacious atmosphere. I went in on a Wednesday so there weren't a lot of patrons but the staff were accommodating, friendly and helpful. Beer was absolutely delicious; must try if you're into the craft beer scene. The place is open despite some work being done around the premises; it appeared like they possibly weren't yet open for business but checking their website made me realize they were in fact open so don't drive away if you see various workers and ladders inside.
