They will correct you if your form needs adjustments and will really encourage you throughout the class. I loved the culture where you have a circuit and if you finish earlier than your peers you cheer them on until they finish. I also want to give a special shout out to Coach Laurel who introduced me in the beginning of class to give me a warm welcome. She remembered that I was visiting from Long Beach and was here for the week in Boston and traveling to Vermont. I highly recommend to anyone who is interested in CrossFit. I loved it so much I even bought a t-shirt.

As someone who is an introvert and struggles with confidence (especially in the gym) the coaches go the extra mile to make me feel comfortable and prepared for each workout by providing modifications and words of encouragement! During COVID-19 I have had some of my biggest gains in virtual WODS with the chance to work on skills like pushups and double unders. While I am still transitioning back to the gym in person full time I have attended a few outdoor classes. CityLine continues to prioritize and maintain the health and safety of all their members while putting you through a hard workout and building community at the same time. I look forward to the at home WODS and going in to the gym every chance I get!

Couples or groups could work out together and many did at different times during the day it was full of people doing floor exercises . Now you need to squeeze in between machines or racks . It seemed that they intentionally made floor exercises especially with partners or friends uncomfortable . Why did they put racks of weights in the middle of the stretching area floor where normally it is put on the side , which had space . Doing that They eliminated at least 4 spaces for people to do mat exercises. They put in a bench press area eliminating the yoga area where it could have replaced one of the smith machines . The bench press is healthier than a smith machine . They replaced a number of the lay back bikes which was very popular with regular stationary bikes which doctors and therapists say are not good .

The nearest gym to our temporary residence was the Planet Fitness in Waltham and we could not have been more pleased. We want to thank the manager, Chan, and his staff for making us feel welcome and accomodating us for a short period membership. The Planet Fitness offers a full suite of both cardio and strength equipment that addresses all of workout requirements. And there is ample duplication to enable a large number of patrons to burn off excess calories, stress, and energy. This gym is well maintained and the staff was noticeably making rounds to ensure proper functioning and cleanliness. When repairs to equipment were needed it was usually accomplished within 24 hours. The gym hours are great and meshed nicely with our hectic schedule. Weekday hours are from 5:00 am until 10:00 pm which ensured we could get in a daily workout. The patrons here are very friendly and and we enjoyed the social dimensions of being in the gym. We also noted that everyone is meticulous about cleaning the equipment after completing a set. Great facility with a wide variety of equipment and an attentive staff and genial patrons made for an exceptional experience. We want to thank Chan and his team for making Planet Fitness our travel gym in Boston!

I was told there isn't one. No wonder I'm holding my breath every time I go in there. (The staff here are genuinely wonderful and unable to fix this issue because it's above their paygrade.) I was considering upgrading my membership so I could bring my brother. He's asthmatic, and I'm not bringing him into that room. I doubt it's good for anyone to spend more than a few minutes in there. I am not a lawyer or a building inspector, but this was upsetting enough that I called the building inspector and left a message naming the gym and describing what I experienced and what staff told me. Due to price and location I'll keep coming to this gym, but I will no longer be using the locker rooms, and it's infuriating to pay for a full membership when I can't use the full facilities because of inadequate ventilation. When I posted this review on Google Reviews, I got a reply from the owner that just invited me to reach out to staff with any concerns. Talk about a cookie-cutter, tone-deaf reply. I already did reach out to your staff when I alerted them to the issue. You're now aware (let's be real, you already were aware) that there's not proper ventilation in the men's locker room. If you resolve the issue, I'll update my review, but to suggest that solving this issue requires me alerting more of your staff to the fact that there's not proper ventilation in the men's locker room is absurd.

This place is affordable for the area, but the fitness area is lacking. They have the basics and some machines, but the area is not maintained, and things often go unfixed for many months at a time. It is clear that the club makes all of its money from the Tennis and Pool centers and caters to those areas. On one occasion, one of the cable machines was broken, and a member took the part home to weld it back together, knowing that management was never going to fix it. On another occasion, the hammstring curl was broken and out of order for more than 8 months. There is a sauna and steamroom in the men's lockerroom that have not been turned back on since the pandemic. Overall, the fitness area is serviceable but dated. The positive is that there is a small group of members, so there is almost always space available. The membership is very nice and welcoming for the most part; there is one unstable person who slams equipment, and management has not held him accountable.

So much for their stellar five-star reviews. Psh! Update: The fact that the owner was so quick to call my review 'petty' when he didn't return my calls for months goes to show the line he's ready to walk just for the sake of maintaining a false reputation on yelp. It also speaks volumes of how mindful he is of other's time. We all come from a different place in our respective lives Mr Owner and all I expected was an acknowledgement. The consultation was quick and thorough and we set up a plan of action to get me back in shape to lift heavy again. It took a while but trusting Angel and the other trainers here was the best thing I have ever done. I want to say it took about 8 months of recovery based training with the semi-private training group but I no longer have the chronic shoulder pain that I first walked in with. Since coming to Boston Underground Strength Training and going through the recovery training I have competed in three powerlifting meets and have been performing better than I could ever imagined thanks to the excellent programming and coaching provided here. Without Boston Underground I would never have been able to recover from my shoulder injury and probably would have had to give up on my favorite hobby.
