The class was very challenging and I plan to go every Monday and Wednesday morning while I'm on the Cape. What's also unique to the cardio room is that there are huge windows to let in the natural light! Although I don't have children I was very impressed with the childcare facilities and look forward to dropping some off there someday. Upstairs you will discover brand new exercise machines! Amen!

I understand that whole "you can't discriminate" thing but having a lifeguard who is very obviously over 400lbs , watching over an elderly aerobics class is not safe. Also, class instructors who are bigger then all the people taking the class is unacceptable as well. I don't see how a health and fitness center can employee obese people like that. So if you're looking for a clean treadmill, its fine. If you're looking for classes and motivating staff, go somewhere else!

I went 3 times, including various levels of Krav Maga, a little bit of light sparring and some groundwork. The instructors were all top class. The students were well trained, good partners, and all around great and interesting people. All were very welcoming. Classes were well organized and well sized for getting the most out of each hour. I can't wait to go back next time I am on Cape Cod. If I lived here full time, I'd join immediately.

I took my son in to see the school and get us both familiar with the lay of the land. We were greeted by Pat, who is the owner, and he could not have been nicer and more welcoming. Pat explained everything simply and easily. He's professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and was willing to work out any payment plan that worked for our budget. He didn't seem like an overly eager or aggressive salesman trying to stack his numbers, but a brother, friend, mentor, happy to help us with our self defense goals. Pat was quick to offer us a class, and set my young son up with a student similar to my son's age (10-ish), to walk him through. He loved it. Krav Maga is real; the classes challenge you, the techniques truly teach you for real world potential threats. If you're having difficulty understanding something, Pat or another teacher will willingly and patiently walk you through it. The gym is clean, and COVID conscience. I love that Pat is always on hand for and question or issue. I enjoy his regular emails with reminders, updates, recent/breaking school news/events. Definitely worth taking that first step.

I got two great workouts in and felt right at home in a very welcoming community. The owner, Sara, was very friendly and quick to respond on email. The coach, Jo, was knowledgeable and motivating and put an emphasis on demonstrating movement standards and scaling. One interesting aspect of CMV is that they always have two WODs you can choose from- as a drop-in I definitely appreciated being able to choose the one that worked best for me on those days. The gym is small but well equipped and with a great outdoor space and two workouts they were able to accommodate a large class (over 20) with no problems. If you live in MV and are looking to pick up Crossfit or are an experienced Crossfitter looking to drop in while on vacation I highly recommend giving Crossfit Martha's Vineyard a try!

Like the CrossFit gym I'm used to at home in Oregon, her program attracts very fit people to those who are just starting out or back on a fitness journey. Not recommended, mostly because of billing policies. They try to charge you for one or two extra…read moremonths. Do not recommend. Also, while the instructors are competent, it's hard to understand them with a heavy accent, and sometime they can be a little mean and cruel to young children who simply could not understand what they were saying. In addition, they assume the children know things that they actually never taught them, and then get mad at the children for not knowing it. The place has a very strict anti-parents getting involved policy. I think I know why- it's to condition you against getting involved when you see such treatment of the kids. Then you're faced with a dilemma- if you intervene to stop that, your kid may get kicked out. The kids don't actually learn very much. Not once in the several months we went was there any explanation of what is jiu jitsu, what is it for, anything like that. After several months, my kid didn't know the "mount" position, because he had never been explained what it is. Along with the billing policy, this starts to look like a scam. I'm fine having my kid go elsewhere or do a different activity.
