It is far from the Heritage museum grounds and is not included in that admission. There is no food or snack bar or even a vending machine. There is one water container to fill up a cone cup. There is also only one porto potty bathroom. The course itself is awesome, but lacking the comforts.

I have been a member here for years, and continue to watch the conditions deteriorate. I have notified management, and they always have the same response: "we let our cleaning company and maintenance team know about the issues" ... and then absolutely nothing happens. I haven't been able to use the steam room in weeks because the mold has gotten so bad and the stench is unbearable. There is hair, grime/dirt and refuse all over the floors, walls and benches which doesn't get cleaned up. There is an mold in the shower area ceiling, walls, and stalls/curtain which continues to grow worse every week. There are also flies in the shower area year round and they have been there for years. You can watch them crawl all over the ceiling and the stalls as you shower, and sometimes they land on you. I give Lu Brito credit for sitting down with me several months ago and acknowledging all the issues I pointed out in my previous review. He agreed that there was a big problem, and that he would be really keeping a close eye to make sure that the Men's locker room started to be cleaned again. He assured me that they would take a "proactive" approach instead of a "reactive" one. But basically, several small repairs were made to rotting or broken infrastructure, and absolutely nothing changed in terms of cleanliness. No lasting changes occurred as a result of that conversation which is why I am writing this update. I am appalled that the executive director Debbie Fringuelli continues to be passive towards these concerns and doesn't play a more active role in addressing the issues. The photos speak for themself. This is not a sanitary environment, and staff continues to gaslight by saying that "the locker room is cleaned nightly." You can literally observe the large cobwebs grow bigger over the mold which proves that is untrue. I have belonged to dozens of gyms in my life, all over the country. This is by far the most neglected facility I have ever been to. They recently raised rates (twice) and I seriously have no idea where that money is going but it is certainly not going towards cleaning or maintaining the facility. Bottom line is they need to clean up their act, and this facility. The male patrons of the Gleason YMCA deserve better.

I went 3 times, including various levels of Krav Maga, a little bit of light sparring and some groundwork. The instructors were all top class. The students were well trained, good partners, and all around great and interesting people. All were very welcoming. Classes were well organized and well sized for getting the most out of each hour. I can't wait to go back next time I am on Cape Cod. If I lived here full time, I'd join immediately.

I took my son in to see the school and get us both familiar with the lay of the land. We were greeted by Pat, who is the owner, and he could not have been nicer and more welcoming. Pat explained everything simply and easily. He's professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and was willing to work out any payment plan that worked for our budget. He didn't seem like an overly eager or aggressive salesman trying to stack his numbers, but a brother, friend, mentor, happy to help us with our self defense goals. Pat was quick to offer us a class, and set my young son up with a student similar to my son's age (10-ish), to walk him through. He loved it. Krav Maga is real; the classes challenge you, the techniques truly teach you for real world potential threats. If you're having difficulty understanding something, Pat or another teacher will willingly and patiently walk you through it. The gym is clean, and COVID conscience. I love that Pat is always on hand for and question or issue. I enjoy his regular emails with reminders, updates, recent/breaking school news/events. Definitely worth taking that first step.

The older two were able to explore different areas and play independently, for a change, meet other kids, while parents and grandparents could either supervise from a distance, or play and interact with the kiddos. Bonus - adults and "crawlers" don't have to pay admission! There is a cafe, and outside food is not permitted, outside drinks are allowed. The staff was very helpful, and I constantly saw them cleaning various areas. Don't forget to bring socks for the entire family, and have some fun!

The play areas are fun, creative, and actually really clean, which was a nice surprise. You can tell they put effort into keeping the place nice, and that goes a long way. If you're looking for a fun place to let the kids burn some energy, especially when the weather isn't great, this is such a good option. Definitely adding it to our list of go-to spots for local fun!
