My wife and I took the Morris Island eco-tour this morning with Captain Will. What a wonderful way to enjoy the area, learn a LOT about the wildlife here, and see areas of the Folly Island and Morris Island that you can't experience any other way! Worth every penny we spent and then some, and we were able to gather some delightful shells and even a starfish from Morris Island. Best of all, we saw two families of dolphins just relaxing along the way, and it was clear that they recognized the boat and were happy to swim along with us for a while. We did a private OBX filming tour for my daughter's 12th birthday. It was amazing. Everyone was very friendly including the girl at the front desk. Our Captain was Davis Bates and he was very knowledgeable of the area and the series. Even though we live in coastal NC and see dolphins, it was still exciting and it was the most dolphins we've seen in the water. We even got to see a hammerhead shark. I would highly recommend this company and we will use this company again when we come back to the area. read more

Bryce our guide was awesome! We had a mix in our group of experience one who was a first timer and others with a few trips on a kayak. We saw a dolphin!!! Had a blast on the sunset kayak tour. What a great adventure! We went for a two hour kayak tour with Flipper Finders at Folly Beach. Our guide was Chloe. She was super nice and relaxed and is a conservation biologist, so we enjoyed the science info she was able to share with us about the tides, animal life and plants. The trip was easy to book online, easy to find the store at Folly and was so enjoyable. I think this would be difficult for kids under 10/11 because of the tides and wakes on the Folly River. While it was relaxing, it did involve some upper body strength. read more

We had a group of 5 of us, from 3 to 60. We all had a great time. Captain Richard did a nice job running us through the marsh area and explaining the ego system of Folly Beach and finding Flipper. Including a walk on Morris Island, where the grandkids (3 and 7) really enjoyed hunting for shells and sand dollars. Highly recommended for all ages, we all had a blast! read more

Captain Richard was amazing! We had a big group and he made sure to interact with the teens by making them dance and sharing local info. He was so sweet to my 2 year old granddaughter and spent plenty of time letting her see the dolphins. We've been kayaking with Richard and that was great so when my 23 yr old niece was visiting I decided to book a dolphin tour. We went out with Steve and 3 other girls. It was a great day! The weather was perfect, we saw all kinds of birds, pelicans, and of course dolphins. Steve took us to a small island where we found sand dollars. He was able to give us some history on Folly Beach and some other interesting facts about the area. Since I just recently moved to Charleston he gave me some great recommendations on places to try and go. On the way back in he was able to get the dolphins to play in the wake of the boat which was a perfect way to end the trip. If you are looking for something to do to make your trip to the Charleston area even more special than take the dolphin trip! read more

Saw lots of dolphins which was great. Marsh was beautiful and relaxing. 4 out of 5 because Lizzie the dog, while cute, was kind of annoying. She was always up front, and in the way of the view. I get that many people swoon over dogs, but as a sight seeing tour seems odd to have an obstruction to the view!! She was sweet, but was very sneezy and shot snot all over my fiance and I a couple times. *sigh* Also... would have been nice to enjoy the nature and beautiful eco system in peace, but there was often loud music which was unwelcome. All in all though, we had a lot of fun, and would recommend it to anyone traveling to Folly Beach. read more

We came to visit Charleston and decided to do a boat tour. Since we had our kids (7 and 1) we decided on the dolphin tour. We had captain Richard who was awesome. The tour was just long enough for it to be fun and comfortable with young children. We saw several dolphins, listen to music, and enjoyed some history about the area. Established in 2010.

Who knew that 150 years after the Civil War that Flipper Finders Boat & Sea Kayak company would open its doors on the historic civil war island of Folly Beach. Well, the dolphins did because they are smarter than humans. They also know you are coming to see them.

Meet the Business Owner: Captain Richard B.

Captain Richard "Dicky" Brendel is home when he's on the Folly River. He's a longtime waterman, USGC certified Captain, an avid surfer, and quick with a one-liner that will definitely make you grin or at least stare at him with curiosity. He loves his salt marsh estuarine home and has a passion for sharing it with anyone asking for a look. When he's not on the water you can find him consulting with local musicians and entrepreneurs or cutting a fine rug on a Folly Beach dance floor. Richard's heart is overflowing with good, salty, love and you'll be lucky to feel that even for just a 2-hour tour.

What a great business! I rented an on-top single kayak from COA for $35 for four hours. A friend…read moremet me out there with his kayak and we hit the water. For me, the check-in process was very easy. There was some miscommunication with the staff however because when they started going over the instructions I was left out while they addressed what looked to be a bachelor party. I assumed they were tackling the party first then would address me but instead started addressing a group birthday party. I had to track someone down as it was twelve minutes past my launch time and they were only focusing on the groups not me who was solo. They were pretty quick about grabbing me a kayak and told me to take a life vest from the birthday group, handed me a map, and then let me be on my way. I like that people with their own gear are allowed to pull up and launch. This worked out great for my friend who didn't need to rent anything. They're located on Bowen's Island that is in the marsh. It's quiet and relaxed and fortunately for us there weren't many boats in the water when we went. Overall it was a good experience. The staff were friendly, the location convenient and easy to access. (Though the road down is littered in potholes. Be mindful and drive slow or you'll be smacking your oil pan.) Ubers were coming and going all morning and dropped guests off right at the front door. COA also offers fishing off their dock for $3. There is a launch fee if you bring your own kayak or canoe but to be honest I can't remember what it was, though I remember my friend saying it was very affordable (so maybe $5/10?). There is a shark toothing expedition as well that I know is a longer paddle and a bit higher of a fee. Tours are offered if you don't feel confident paddling out in your own. I'll definitely be going back!

We were a group of 10…read moregirls in town for a bachelorette weekend and Will & Cameron helped set the bar high for the first full-day of the trip. As the Maid of Honor, I was in charge of plans for the weekend and I wanted to start the trip with my own version of a bike tour around Folly. I called 2 days prior to our arrival because I didn't initially think we needed a formal reservation, but started to get nervous as we got closer to the trip. When I called, the guys told me it would be no problem and they would have 10 bikes ready for us at 11:00am that Friday. I wasn't sure what would happen when we arrived, so I held my breath and crossed my fingers all would work out. I was ecstatic when we arrived to see Will and Cameron already at the door waiting on us!! We were maybe 5 minutes or so after 11:00 (10 girls can be a lot to get out the door) but they both commented on us "being on time," so I felt much better. They got us setup and on our way very quickly. I even asked for some of their "expert opinions" on restaurant/bars we should stop throughout the day and they provided us with great recommendations. I think having the bikes on a Friday was perfect because we didn't run into too much traffic and it felt very safe everywhere we went. We were really sad to return the bikes at the end of the day. I thought we would only spend a few hours on them since Folly isn't that big, but we were having so much fun we stayed on them until the shop was closing. By the end of the weekend, I asked the girls what their favorite part of the trip was and the most common response was the bikes!! If I had to do it over, I would probably pay to rent bikes for the full weekend. It was the best way to get 10 girls around Folly Beach!

We met Gresh, the operator, at a dock outside of Charleston and he took us by motorboat through estuaries that were lined with live oyster beds and teeming with wildlife like brown pelicans and other birds. We actually saw a pod of bottle nosed dolphins playing near the boat! Spectacular. Gresh anchored off of the beach, which was prominently featured in the movie "Glory" as the battle site at which over 1000 black Union troops perished (and are buried there!). My kids and I walked the entire beach without encountering another soul on a brilliantly sunny and beautiful afternoon. We found lots of pretty shells and sand dollars to take home. Gresh was great - his family has been there for generations, he clearly loves the area and cares deeply for its environmental integrity and is a terrific tour guide. Do not miss this experience - we will remember it for the rest of our lives. It went all too quickly!

After a bit of research, we ended up on Captain Jerry Slayton's boat for a two-hour sail. Captain Jerry (who is USCG licensed and ASA certified) provided a short safety orientation and invited us to roam the craft as we pleased. We had the absolutely best time! The Captain was not only a top-notch sailor, he was also a top-notch guy, personable and fun. His sailboat was beautiful, comfortable, and spotless. What a wonderful way to spend a couple of hours. It rained like crazy while we were out, which made for an even more exciting, interesting, and beautiful experience. The six of us highly recommend a sail with Captain Jerry. You will love it!

Will was very punctual at the meeting time and once we stepped on the boat we went immediately into action. Within 15 minutes we were catching fish! Will was extremely knowledgeable about the area and knew a lot of the history that other tour captains don't tell you. We went to several spots that all had fish almost exactly where Will said they would be. By the end of the trip we had caught 10 redfish and a few other species as well. We hope to make Tight Line Outfitters part of our annual tradition in Folly Beach. 10/10 would recommend.

I had the pleasure of embarking on an extraordinary adventure with Austin from Flipper Finders, and I can't express enough how fantastic the experience was.
