We had a great visit to Flippin Cow. The service was wonderful, the food was excellent, the atmosphere was relaxed and the location on the lake was a highlight. It was one of the better restaurant experiences that we've had recently. Located a mile north of the Indiana Toll Road, we found this place based on a search knowing this area was where we wanted to stop for dinner on our traverse to Chicago. It looked like a fun spot from the description and was certainly something different. An additional consideration was that we had our 21-month-old granddaughter and needed a place where we could so find something that appealed to her. Burgers are usually a good bet. The location on Simonton Lake was beautiful. It facilitated a treat before we ever stepped into the restaurant. There was a family of swans on the water with the parents and their six cygnets. They were indeed fun to watch. The lake created a wonderful setting from the outset. Upon entry, we were greeted by the friendly staff and were accommodated with a booth in the main dining room quickly. Our waitress, Kayla, attended to us right away and did a terrific job. We were well cared for during our visit. The food was delivered in a timely fashion without undue delay. We started with an order of Onion Rings, which turned out to be a great choice. They were crispy with flavorful breading that was not so thick as to be overwhelming. We also tried a couple of cocktails. While we like a glass of wine with our meal, we're not really cocktail people. But these intrigued us. I tried the Peach Sangria, which was very good. My wife had the Jameson Ginger Sparkler. Jameson and Ginger Ale has been a favorite of hers since we experienced the Jameson Factory tour in Dublin several years ago. This concoction was a nice take on that theme. Both drinks were "dangerous" because they were so tasty that you didn't notice they contained alcohol. In spite of the fact that this is primarily a burger pub, we found two salads that intrigued us for our mains. One was actually in keeping with the theme of the restaurant, as my wife had the Flippin Burger Salad. As the name suggests, it featured burger on greens with her choice of honey mustard dressing. She shared that with our granddaughter. They were both happy with the choice. I had the Flippin Whitefish Salad. The fish was nicely done and it seemed appropriate since we were by the lakeshore. I found it to be quite satisfying with the raspberry vinaigrette dressing. Unfortunately, they no longer make their Mango Chardonnay Dressing that used to accompany this salad. I've never had the chance to try it but it sounds like they should consider bringing it back. The total for our meals with food, drinks, tax and tip was $68. At $34 each as well as having enough to feed a toddler, we were very happy with this given the experience. We'll look forward to a return visit now that we know this place is there.

Only complaint is the fry's were extremely salty! I had the white fish with fry's. My sister had a burger and fry's. I liked the fish with tartar sauce. My sister ate her burger which she liked. It's a nice place but bad parking lot. Would go again.

The servers were all nice, and the orange vanilla beer they had on tap was surprisingly good. The meat was very bland, with not even a taste of salt and pepper. Small adjustments to focus on taste would help this place. Still overall real cool location.

We really enjoyed the lake side ambiance. The cow you flip over to get service was new, fun and helpful! Our server was fast, friendly and knowledgeable all important characteristics. My wife's Fish and fries were perfect not greasy perfect cook, great seasoning. My very unique never had prior and delicious burger was absolutely fantastic with that Crab Rangoon sauce on top! Wow, wow! why is this the first time in my life! I'm having that again soon! Did I mention our drinks were also very good! Summary - must go! Going back soon...

This was probably one of the best service experiences I've had in awhile. Our server was not only very attentive and helpful but management was also visible and checking in with tables! Everyone was very friendly! Fun place right on the water with lots of seating inside and out. The food was really good too! There were a lot of delicious-sounding burgers. I ended up getting the one suggested by our waitress and was not disappointed. Quirky and cute and tasty! Highly recommend!

We are visiting Elkhart on Business and pleasure . This is the first place we went for a bite since we wanted a burger . Hands down the best burger I have had in a long long time . I ordered the Stella Moo and it was perfect . We also got the bacon cheddar dip is what our server (Hannah) recommended and it was 10/10. The service was also a 10/10 Hannah was very attentive paid all attention to details and gave us the run down on the background of the restaurant and they way they prep their meats and cooked fresh (Never Frozen) We would definitely come back here for the food and to see Hannah .

A unique little spot, and fantastic food. We had Cheesy Nugs to start, they were freakin' amazing, who doesn't love cheese...I ate the Stella Moo (Voted number 1 in Elkhart County) and it is worth the fuss...great food! Our server was fantastic too...she had some larger parties, but didn't overlook my wife and I.

This is 100% the summer spot to be for a good burger and beer during the summer right off the lake. The cheese nugs mights be the best cheese curd appetizer I've had in a long time. Following that I had the Stella moo burger. It is a quite a large burger and very filling. The staff were also super friendly and attentive. The place really gives off beach lake front vibes and it's awesome. The only thing I wish they had was chicken wings Update: after a few hours the burger really isn't sitting well and happened to get sick from it. Not sure if it was the brisket, bacon, or the burgers itself. Just make sure yours is properly cooked.

And do not change the spicy mayo for anything You cannot beat the view of the lake or getting to meet new people at the bar-tops inside. Was there on the 17th of Sept to honor my friend, colleague, & mentor who LOVED the Flippin' & even had her own table! If you've never been, get here!

Went on a Sunday afternoon basically seat yourself very little wait to get in and get a seat. I had the salad with the hamburger patties on it great keto meal thought it was really good ordered extra bacon The wife had the grilled BBQ chicken wrap and she said it was absolutely delicious The wait staff was good but slow for a Sunday had a few issues but they definitely took care of it. read more

The K's waited on us and did an excellent job. There was 28 of us for a Surprise Party. Food was great. Staff dealt with our crazy family and even came outside to get a group picture for us. Recommend trying this place. We will be back often. Planning on taking our boat this summer because they have docking for boats. read more

THERES PARKING ON BOTH SIDES OF THE BUILDING it's hard to see when you're driving on the road's curve from either direction, but if one lot is full the other usually isn't great drinks and cocktails, decent burgers and the porch dining was welcomed on a warm day read more

We stopped after a Notre Dame game. There wasn't a wait and we were seated on the indoor patio. They also have a patio outside. It's located on the water with a great view if you're outside. The food was great and the service was even better. We'll be back for sure! read more

They told me to place my order online, so I did. The estimate was 30-35 minutes to pick it up. I ordered the Stella with fries. I picked it up at the time it said to and I wish I would have been there about 10-15 minutes earlier. The fries were cold and the bun was soggy. Now I did give it a 3 because the burger did have a good flavor and if it was hot, would have been really good. Online order process, easiest I have ever used. read more

We were in Elkhart for the weekend. We decided on Flippin' Cow for a Saturday lunch stop about 1:15pm because of the Yelp reviews and the fact that they have a waterfront view. Pros: We snagged a table by the window with a view of the lake. The hamburger was very good. The potato bun was delicious The mac and cheese was good. The servers really hustled and bustled to take care of everyone. However, they really need extra help. Cons: The eternity we waited to have the server take our order. As I said above, the servers were really swamped so the long wait was not their fault. The 2nd eternity we waited to receive our food. We ordered an appetizer expecting to get it before our entrees. Forty five minutes after we ordered, which was about 25 minutes after we sat down, our food comes all at once. I had a feeling the french fries would be cold and they were. The server brought another order. My husband's mac and cheese was basically room temperature. He said he didn't mind it not being hot so we did not send it back. We had to wait about 15 minutes to get our check. I was seriously concerned that we would not get out of there until supper time. BTW, it wasn't just our table that received slow service. I was watching every table just wait and wait and wait... Summary: good food, terminally slow service most likely due to the kitchen staff not the servers. read more

If you are into good pub food and energetic atmosphere, this is the place. Their burgers are awesome and I'm sure the rest of their food is too, from the looks of it. Really creative in sandwich concoctions, the service here is fast and friendly. Everyone seems to work together between the bar, the tables, and the carry out. And the beers that have available are just as creative. Nothing boring here. All really good! Kudos to Rachel and Terri! read more

first time i've been to Flippin' Cow. My server was Alyssa and my god she was the best server around, and I've been to a lot of restaurants. She was constantly checking on us and making sure we were good. Food was wonderful too!!! 10/10 recommend asking for her when you go in. Happened to stumble across this place making the drive from Cleveland to buffalo, NY. Thanks to Flippin' cow I have fallen in love with a burger; best burger I have ever had!! They had so many unique burgers. I had one with the perfect amount of peanut butter, pepper jelly, bacon, and pepper jack cheese. All of this with two thin patties were positioned in between a delicious pretzel bun...my mouth is watering just thinking about it. We also got the wings, which were very good. I personally prefer bone in wings that aren't breaded, but their breaded wings were still good! Our waitress was quick and checked in often. The screened in patio was awesome to sit on, right on the water!! Anyway, don't know when I'll be driving through again but I recommend this place! One more thing, they seemed to have good specials in different days of the week so look into that (on Wednesday's they have 1.99 burgers) and they also had trivia going on when i was there. read more

Loved our experience at Flippin' Cow. Brittany, our server, was incredibly accommodating with our three little ones (it's steak, little one! Not a cheeseburger. Lol). Crayons , jumbo-sized coloring books; who could ask for anything more? We also appreciated that ALL the waitstaff were helpful and there was no sense of "that's not my table." Food was very good though we couldn't rate it 5 star. 4 star for the food and 5 star for the service. read more

Located on Simonton Lake it has great burgers and fries. Menus are on classic rock album covers. May choices of buns, toppings etc. Ask to be seated with a view of the lake. Drive your boat to their dock in for dine in or carry out. Call ahead for carry out. read more

But seriously, if you live nearby or you are travelling I-80, it's definitely worth the stop. The server was very friendly and helpful. We had a great view of the lake from our table too. read more

Always have a great experience here but tonight Maygon was SO sweet. My brother has special needs/food allergies and they were so! accommodating! We just ordered two patties with cheese and she personally made sure that everything was correct and without us even asking put it on a plate so it would be easier to cut. Burgers are so great, vibe of the place is great, 10/10 recommend. read more

I'm a dive bar guy, and I give a lot of leeway since I travel all the time, but what a joke. Literally NO ONE in charge. Their food is mostly garbage and tastes like I'm at a little league game. I have no problem being somewhere that has these problems but they're clueless. If you can't deliver with food, try having a decent fucking attitude.

I ask the bartender to correct it and they IMMEDIATELY get defensive and give me the run around about the tab was in the computer they had to split it then a discount this and that (gave me a long winded excuse to make it seem not purposeful). The ironic part is, the second time I was scammed was directly after the bartender told me the owner is a con artist. Atmosphere with the locals is great, food and drinks are also fine, but the fact I was scammed twice I will not be going back.

I had ordered some jager bombs, and she informed Me (in a snippy mannor) that she was out of red bull, but they had blue raspberry red bull. I was rather nice to her for how terribly she was treating me, and said that was fine. The jager bombs come in these little cups with the shot in The middle, and the chaser surrounding it. I paid for the 4 bombs ($19!!) and was satisfied. About 10 minutes later i told my friend about the different type of red bull jager bomb, and offered to buy a round for a few friends. When he inquired about the drinks, she was utterly rude, looked straight at me, and said, "do you see all these dirty cups?! Do you see the line behind you?! I am out of cups and don't have time for this." i don't care how busy you are, you NEVER treat a customer like that. If i am half your age and can manage 8-12 people for 8 hours at a restaurant where we make approximately 200 transactions in an hour and keep my cool, so can you. I will NEVER visit this bar again due to her. That ruined my entire celebration.
