First time having Flippy's in Rodeo and I am impress how good their food was. I skipped going into El Sol to have Flippy's Cafe. I never knew that Flippy's existed until now and I been living in Hercules since 1988. Flippy's Cafe has to be the longest business Rodeo had. I had the hamburger and I don't regret having. A juicy burger compare to D's Giant Burger. I was able to have salad on the side compare to fries which was a good choice. The service I had at Flippy's was fantastic. I was given a great service which I was given time to find out what to order. The inside of Flippy's Cafe is small. The tables are ok which shows sign of ages to prove how long Flippy's has been in business. They do keep the tbales clean and maintain. The parking lot outside Flippy's in small. You can find street parking nearby which is not a long walk. I will try Flippy's Cafe next time I am in Rodeo. read more

Went during lunch time. Was a little packed at 11:30am on a Sunday. I recommend going a bit early. Black coffee and ice water was what I had to drink. I did sit at the bar and service is steady. The wait staff was friendly and checked on me. The corn beef hash was something I was craving, but something at home I would make from the can. lol I like it simple, but they did prepare it crispy along with the hash browns. The eggs were prepared perfectly to my preference as well. A place you can take someone after a Saturday night out on the town. If you don't want to sit at a table or booth, they have bar seats. A lot of veterans frequent this establishment and seem to know everyone around town. Which is pretty cool. read more

The food was cool like it's just like your average breakfast spot. I did pick up my order so I didn't really get to interact with the employees, but the woman who was at the front. She was very busy like she tried her best to give like good customer service but she was doing a lot of things at once so it was very brief with a thank you hello and a welcome. The pancakes were dynamite." - Cosmo Kramer, Seinfeld Da Scene: early morning out and about, looking for hashbrowns... my goto spot in Pinole has been dropping the ball lately, so Yelp! points me to Flippy's in Rodeo. 2 spot parking lot, but LOTS of street parking @ 7am. Lots of cozy booths, some 2 tops and 5 spot counter. Staff was masked, patrons varied. Seated, ordered and coffee'd quickly. Da Grub: Went with the Pork Chop (breaded & fried) 2 eggs over easy. You can opt for 3 pancakes instead of hashbrowns and toast... which I did since toast ain't my thing. But as I'm on a hashbrown oddesey, ordered a side of crispy goodness and was not disappointed. Eggs were fine, pork chop was crisp, moist and seasoned just right... save some pepper, didn't need to adjust the salt. Hashbrowns were as they should be: crisp (not burnt), but fluffy and tender inside... just what I've been looking for! TIP: Ask for the pancakes to come out last, and enjoy as a kind of breakfast dessert with your 3rd cup of coffee. Da Service: Super efficient, considering maybe 8 other tables, my server (owner?) was quick and topped my coffee off 3 times (luv that!). Food was expedited as asked and was piping hot when received. Folks at the counter were talking as old friends, customers leaving waved to other customers, definately a local spot, but I never felt like an outsider. I will check in on my old spot again sometime, but Flippy's has earned another visit (with the wife next time!) With their solid fare and great service... plus GREAT HASHBROWNS!! read more

I love family-owned neighborhood no-frills brunch spots and Flippy's already gave me good vibes upon entering. Friendly staff, clean and homey dining environment, and since it's located in a small town, there isn't a huge crowd, which I loved! I sat in a small booth in the side and menus were conveniently available on a hanging rack at the table. I had gone there with the sole purpose of getting a country fried steak and eggs and a waffle, which came promptly and was absolutely delicious! I always love that first flavorful crispy bite of the steak with the country gravy. The eggs were perfectly over easy and the hash browns were crispy on outside and tender on inside. I would have preferred the country gravy to be a little thinner but it's ok. The waffle was a great dessert at the end - buttermilky and crispy! Price for both was close to $24 and I left a nice tip for my awesome server. I'd totally come back! read more

A 5 star experience! This is a classic greasy spoon restaurant in an area that the developers didn't touch. Not much off street parking unless you have a handicap plaque. The restaurant reminds me of my youth minus the jukebox. Lots of Raider and Forty Niner pennants on the walls. No fruit on the menu and the OJ comes in a bottle. Opening day today for rodeo baseball... I was getting hungry waiting on the parade to start and saw this jewel of a restaurant sitting on the corner. I called and placed an order due to the busy crowd already there I waited 25 min for my food (def worth the wait) I order pancakes and the Italian sausage and I will be back next weekend. Flippy's quickly became a go-to breakfast spot for my partner and I. It has the "Mom and Pop" vibe that I love to support. It's that kind of spot where the community comes to and the waitresses and chefs know each other on a first name basis. They have counter and booth seating available. I wouldn't recommend groups with more than 4 people due to their tables being connected to the floor but if you come at a time when they're aren't too busy, you may be able to snag two tables side by side. Parking can be tough if they're busy and on a Sunday with a church being next door. There are only 4 spots available in their lot, one of those being a handicap spot. There is a good amount of street parking around the block. I've tried many items on the menu and I have to say the one that made me feel nostalgic was their corned beef and hash breakfast plate. It brought me back to when my grandparents would make my cousins and I corned beef hash. Even though I live in Oakland, we try to come once a week for breakfast! read more

Flippy's or Floppy's? That was the question I had when I first saw this family-focused coffee shop after taking my first walk on the San Pablo Regional Trail along the bay shore. I made my way to the northern end in Rodeo where I wiggled through a chain-link gate and walked six residential blocks on Third to Parker Avenue. There to the left was Flippy's which was already closed, so on my next walk with Jamie W., we decided to have a late Saturday morning breakfast here. Sure enough it was fairly crowded with families, seniors, teens, and truckers, but we had no trouble sidling up to a roomy booth. Jamie took the suburban ambiance seriously and ordered the $11.25 Denver Omelette which looked like it was precut and folded on the grill. He switched out the requisite hash browns and toast for a short stack of three pancakes which he deemed quite rubbery (photo: http://bit.ly/2OjTDra). I agreed. I had marginally better luck with the $8.50 Chef's Salad which was pretty standard grade with chopped romaine and rolled-up cold cuts competing with the shredded cheddar (photo: http://bit.ly/2ufmt5f). I loved the sports ambiance and the employees who work here who are always happy to serve you no matter how busy they get. Never had any issues and their food was always delicious. This place is definitely frozen in another time. It's decorated with various posters and newspaper articles of Bay Area sports teams of the last 40 years. The place probably hasn't been remodeled since the day it was built. That being said, the customer service was great, and the food was tasty.
