Rodeo looks like it's coming up on the main strip. There are a couple new complexes being built so it's nice to know there is a diner around the corner. It's going to bring life back in to the community. This place is your diner of the neighborhood, the people at the bar top were locals and knew each other. Looking like they are having a good time. Immediately walking in I was greeted and told to pick a seat. Service was on point. They have this sign that says Vodka, but don't be tricked, it's a wine and beer only place. Their imported beers are a little over $7 seems a bit high, domestic a little over $5. The burgers are tasty, they have the crispy burnt taste to them. I got the jalepeno burger and my partner got that big burger with pastrami, egg, jalapeño etc. it's a decent size, costs about $20, and they give you enough fries so you could only order one burger with fries. Over all the place is pretty big, the food is tasty, it feels like a neighborhood hang out. I'd be back, but I wouldn't make a special trip out here for a burger. read more

I had their Double Bacon CheeseBurger, their priciest and arguably their biggest "Giant" burger. Unfortunately it wasn't "Giant" nor was it particularly a great burger. D's burger was a solid middle of the road burger - plain. The bun was a traditional Wonder Bread type bun that came eight to a package that can be bought at any supermarket. The double patties were good size but, well..., in this instance size didn't really matter. They were a bit over cooked and blandly seasoned. Now I would never put down American Cheese but at this point maybe a bit more pizazz would have possibly pulled this burger out of the mundane but unfortunately it failed.The fries and onion rings were the same - just standard sides that you would expect in any burger joint. So if you just need a quick bite and am not particularly looking for gourmet fare, D's may be just the place for you. Next time? They do serve breakfast. That's a good sign. The burgers here are great. We've never been disappointed but be prepared to pay extra for add-ons. The fries are ok and the onion rings are so-so but the shakes are great! They also serve beer if that's what you like with your burger. They also serve set specials for dinner each day of the week but we've never tried those. Paying your bill by cash gets you a slight discount (the inverse of a surcharge for using a credit card I guess. Each time our bill was over $75 for two double cheeseburgers with add ons and fries plus a couple of beers or shakes. It is pricier than we like but we'll be back when we want really good burgers and vibes. read more

After having skipped breakfast because we thought we were headed to a car show only to discover we had the date wrong, we decided to stop into D's Giant Burgers for brunch. Our party of 4 all ordered burgers and shared a waffle. I had the mushroom burger (add jalapeño) and it was really good. The hubby had a regular hamburger (split with his mom) and the daughter had the chili burger. The waffle came out last because they had to heat up the waffle iron (we showed up well after the breakfast crowd) but we were pleasantly surprised... perfectly crisp on the outside and most inside. Everyone enjoyed the food but we were in agreement that there wasn't anything giant about the burger. Although it was just average, it was a nice change from the norm and we would definitely go back! So, the food was ok. I had a Reuben my boyfriend had a burger. They were fine. The shake was good. Honestly we should have never even gotten as far as eating there. We came through the door next to the window with all the signage on it. The room was deserted. There was a closed door to the right. After standing around a couple minutes the door opened and a little blonde waitress said, "there's a *reason* this door is closed" .... I'm sorry, is this how we talk to customers? It turns out that there's two sides, including two doors. But there is a divider on the outside so if you approach from the direction we did you can't see there is another door. And cool, the side we walked in on was closed, but then maybe put a sign up to go to the next door, or maybe -- just maybe -- close the door you don't want people to use. As I said we should have just walked out when the waitress was rude. $50 I'll never get back. But they have RC Cola on tap, so if that's your thing, go there. read more

My favorite local burger spot, just a few minutes down from the house. Big juicy burgers and you thick cut fries, I prefer thinner cut fries becuase they're crispier but I always ask for my fries extra crispy here and they always deliver. It's nice to live a short distance away from this popular neighborhood Rodeo burger joint. I had a hankering for a no frills cheeseburger and fries and that's exactly what I got. Inside has a lot of character from the retro diner vibe, wall photos of past American celebrities, checkered print, juke box, arcade games. I ordered my meal from the counter, took a # and picked my seat in the other room with the jukebox. Food is made fresh upon ordering and my cheeseburger and curly fries came out after 15 min. Burger had all the usual fixings- American cheese, tomato, lettuce, mayo, mustard and a fresh cut onion- next time I'll ask for grilled onions, which I prefer. Service was friendly and my water glass was always refilled. The burger was tasty and I really liked the curly fries. Banana Milkshake ALL DAY!!!!!! Other than the Banana Shake. Their BLT sandwich is delicious. Thick slices of bread, thick bacon slices, and a good meal without making you feel like a balloon afterwards. Ive also tried their chicken sandwich, but would not order it again. The thought that they didnt change the oil from previous days crossed my mind throught the taste. They offer different fry selections, I love curly fries, but this is a far cry from Jack in the Box curly fries. This is a great little mom & pop place in downtown Rodeo; had forgotten all about it until the other day when driving thru the area & craving a hotdog. They make, for me, the best hotdogs, split in two, grilled, along with the bun, a little mustard & onion, half a side of fries, a drink & I was set. Have been wanting to try this place for 2 years now, finally decided to try it before moving out of the area. Let down was an understatement. Burger buns were extremely dry and don't even appear to be toasted. Burger is flavorless, not even any ketchup was put on. Fries were the best part but obviously freezer made. I have to admit I sure wasn't expecting much from the name, and when I saw the hand-painted portraits of the Marx Brothers and other silver screen luminaries from the 1930's on the outside, well, let's just say my expectations dropped precipitously. The reason I was here was because I was walking the San Pablo Bay Regional Trail and ended up in a residential part of Rodeo late on a Saturday afternoon. I didn't know anything about Rodeo, so my options were limited. Flippy's Cafe had just closed, so I decided I'd take a look at the menu and see if there was a prayer of getting something bordering on healthy here. Even though every item looked like it came with fries, I did find something buried on the bottom of the second page. It was the $9.50 Chef's Salad, and it was actually good in a throwback kind of way. It was a pile of iceberg lettuce covered with strips of ham and turkey cold cuts, shredded cheese (Kraft American singles presumably), tomato slices, and a hard-boiled egg (photo: http://bit.ly/2VVCOaF). It came with a side of Thousand Island dressing (what else?). It reminded me of something my mom would have made me eat at the local Bonanza Steakhouse when I was a child. I feel bad for giving the 3 stars because I always love everything from here , but I wouldn't be honest with myself if I gave the meal a better review than it deserves. I want to start this off with the pros of this place. They have a beautiful restaurant very cute for a little simple date or family dinner. Staff are very professional and polite, the cook is very respectful along with the others. However, I've gotten the mushroom burger in the past and was beyond satisfied with it. But this time i got chicken strips & fries since I wasn't up for a full meal. They aren't bad at all I like them , where the problem comes in my sister refused to eat even one more bite after she took her first one of her club sandwich. She loves club sandwiches! I tried to take a bite to see if she was tripping and nope I will not be eating it either. Just not my type of meat , doesn't really look appetizing at all. All the meat is , is sliced pressed meat not fresh. This review is more so to tell you what you shouldn't buy or else you're practically throwing your money out. On the flip side they have so many other amazing looking things on their menu but they are a bit pricey for 3 things it was about $35. Around $10 for the club sandwich itself ( which is typical ) My chicken strips were good I have no complaints on them! Gave ranch no problem. Thanks ! When I called them about it the woman who answered said " it does not come with fries and that is just on there to let you know that you can order them. Omg I've been eyeing this place for a while. So today was the day. We ordered a chili dog, chili cheese curly fries, regular fries and onion rings. Omg the chili fries are bomb and the onion rings are 1000/10. My husband wasn't too thrilled with the dog because it was a hot mess when we got home. You couldn't even tell it was what it was.
