Tina's is consistently good! I've been many times and love the variations they have. I've brought family and friends here over the years. Favorites are the southern grits and catfish! The Fall Off has begun... They have stopped accepting Debit Card.. The Service is slow and they are not keeping the place clean and tidy. Cabinets are broken, and floors need to be mopped. The service is slow. The drinking cups are old battered plastic blue cups (they use to be glass) and they bring them to a table of 4 stacked instead of placing them to each person. No drinks were refilled. The food.. The Pancake was real good! Everything else was blah. The server said "they can't season the food much due to a large all the old people that live in Pinole." If you can't season then you shouldn't serve Cajun food. My pregnant wife ordered Pork Chop and Eggs which she had to send back and luckily they removed it from our bill, it was so plain and under seasoned. All our food was really underwhelming. My parents said the grits were really good there but this time they tasted almost as bland as water. Their is reason to believe this place has switched ownership and it trying to save money. There use to be a line out the door and we came at 11:30am on a Sunday and there was only 5 tables occupied... Mehhhhhhh when I saw the shrimp and cheesy bacon grits on the menu, I was sooo excited! But it was honestly really really bland. The shrimp lacked flavor, and the grits were so plain! Yes they were called "cheesy bacon grits," but they were plain grits with bacon and cheese sprinkled on top. My husband got a Belgian waffle, and he asked for whipped cream--it was a $7 upcharge for the saddest serving of whipped cream on the side. Brought my mom early in a Sunday morning p. We were their first customers of the day. We were warmly greeted and chose our table near the window. The table and all of the accoutrements were nice and clean which is always nice. My mom ordered a coffee which she said was good and I ordered a Bloody Mary which came in a big glass mug and had a stick of celery and a green oIive and pepperoncini too. Good flavor and spiced nicely. She got eggs which were cooked sunny side up just as she had ordered them with HASHBROWNS and bacon. She's 88 and devoured her plate! I ordered the pork chops and eggs knowing full well that I wasn't going to eat both pork chops but dang I wanted to because they were charred, flavorful and moist. It's a must try dish! Tina's place has evolved since we moved to Pinole in 2007 but they still have things on the menu from way back when. My suggestion is to get there before they get busy on the weekends or visit on a weekday. I just wish that they would open again for dinner even with a smaller menu because Pinole really needs another goto dinner option. This place has DRASTICALLY changed for the worse. At least they use to have one thing going for them which was the food, the service was still bad. But now the service is even worse and food has zero seasoning. The same way they now are pushing Venmo, Zelle and Cash due to a 4% processing fee when using a card. They need to inform people before being seated that they DO NOT season their food, so you then have the choice to patronize or not. At this point Tina's needs to relocate a smaller space and only cater to people that prefer crappy customer and unseasoned food. Because Pinole and Hercules are in need of more food places. read more

My recent experience at Tina's Place was extremely disappointing, entirely due to the horrible customer service. Right from the start, the host seemed completely unwelcoming. After our server took our order, we sat for 40 minutes with zero communication--no check-ins and no updates. To make matters worse, we watched two sets of customers who arrived after us receive their food while we continued to wait. It honestly felt as though our order was never put into the kitchen. This is an update from my last experience. I brought my son here for his birthday brunch and had a phenomenal experience. I ordered the Shrimp, Bacon, and Cheesy Grits and it was just layers of flavor. The shrimp were cooked perfectly, and that spice was the best I've tasted. I normally can detect specific spices and this time I couldn't. The bacon and cheesy grits were cooked perfectly. So delicious! My son ordered the catfish and waffles and enjoyed his meal. I tasted the catfish and will be ordering it on my next visit. Delicious spice mixture, incredible crunch on the outside and tender, flaky fish on the inside. This used to be one of our main places to eat but the food is just not the same...soggy breakfasts, nasty butter The Belgium waffle had clumps of dough when I bit into it like the flour wasn't sifted enough...the butter that was given looked more like oil and French toast was bland. No taste at all. The French toast looked like it was just toasted and put into a container to try and pass as French toast And they used to give this delicious syrup that tasted like maple butter but now they give the usual sugar syrup that most places give Sad times, I hope Tina can make a comeback soon! read more

OMG....What happened?! We hadn't been to Tina's in a while so we decided to hit them up last Saturday. Now they've always been know for being kind of slow with seating you(usually because it was so crowded)but the food was ALWAYS worth the wait! This time it took a while because all of the empty tables needed to be cleaned! Anyway, we finally get seated, our orders taken, & we wait...and wait. AND WAIT. As we wait...we look around. The place is an absolute mess. Again, ALL of the tables are dirty & the floor is a mess. This is NOT the Tina's I remember.We're looking around & still waiting for our half carafe of mimosas that was not served while we waited...and waited....and waited. Finally the food shows up. And it was NOT the well seasoned, cooked to perfection, "taste like home" food that I remembered. My steak & eggs & home potatoes were just okay. That's it....just okay. But my friend's chicken & waffles were "scary!" I will say that the waffle was cool...it was...fluffy. But that breading(or whatever it was) on the chicken was thick, tasted like it was fried in old grease, and mushy on the inside in some places but fried HARD in others. It was weird. My friend ended up pealing all of the thick coating off to eat the chicken.(which he stated was tasty)We asked our server what was the batter on the chicken & she said it was Tina's special batter. Fair enough but damn...why is the coating so THICK that it cooks unevenly? Why not change out the grease so it doesn't taste old & burnt? The best thing about our visit to Tina's was our server! She looked like she had just worked her ass off that morning but she was still really sweet & made sure we got our forgotten drinks & clean water glasses.(yup our first ones were dirty) I will say that I'll probably not go back anytime soon. Especially after someone who use to go there a lot,(but stopped going)told the person I was there with,that they got new cooks & the food hasn't been good/the same ever since! It's been ages since my last visit, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that they have expanded to the adjoining unit. Or probably added about an additional half to two-thirds more space for tables. The eggs benedict were just as delicious and plentiful as i remember them to be. I had the Country Waffle Stack. The thing is huge, great value. But besides the potion size, I'm till not sure how to feel about it. I liked it but didn't. Thought it would have been better unstacked. If every component of the dish kept the texture it should have, that's a 5 star dish. Concept, creativity and flavors are there, just missed on execution. As for the service, don't know how to feel about that either. She seemed really nice but service was lacking. She brought out our utensils and just left them at the end of the table, along with a glass bottle of water and a stack of cups. Most restaurants at least pour your first glass. I loved the special, inflation menu, with smaller portion but lower cost. I ordered the 1 slice of French toast thst came with two eggs and two slices of bacon (or sausage if you prefer). The French toast was good, but it tasted "healthy" I think because they used wheat bread? My dining companion opted for the shrimp and grit,I had a bite, it was really good! What a great little spot in the heart of old town Pinole! My husband and I have been in Pinole for over a year now, we drive by Tina's nearly everyday and we always say how we need to try them. Today we finally made it in! The restaurant was closing in an hour and it was a Tuesday so it wasn't busy at all, I read a lot of reviews saying how long they've had to wait to be seated or how long it took to get the wait staff's attention, or for their food to come out. We didn't have any of those problems. My husband ordered the catfish, shrimp and cheesy grits, I ordered the chicken and waffles with maple syrup and a side of hot honey. The hot honey made it. And of course we couldn't pass up their bottomless billini brunch. Perfection! Our waitress was a cutie pie and kept the billini's comin'. Breakfast, brunch, lunch, they got you with servings big enough to share or save for later. Tina's has a variety of options from classics to exciting twists, sandwiches, salads, benedict's and more. Everything was delicious. Tina's andouille catfish and grits come with a yummy brown gravy and the grits were cooked to perfection. Catfish was tender and not dry. Look at your check before you leave! The waitress there robbed us. We have eaten at Tina's for YEARS and have always enjoyed the food. The size portions are also generous. But unfortunately in our last visit, the waitress only came by once to check on us. We were leaving a 10% tip and the waitress took our check. Oof, this was not good. I got a pancake and it was the worst pancake I have ever eaten. It was very dense and tasted like flour, I took one bite and that was more than enough. I also ordered a plain latte with two extra shots (this is a drink I get everyday) so as soon as I saw the color I knew that it did not have extra shots (super light, milky color) I tasted it and it was like drinking water. I didn't want to cause an issue and send it back, because the server already seemed overwhelmed so I just kept quiet. But then on the bill I was charged $17 for the absolute worst latte of my life. Went for a nice brunch on a Friday, being a first timer being there I thought the place looked homey and had potential to it. The food wasn't the worst but had barely any taste and the portion size for scrambled eggs was crazy. My bf and I both had the Sobrante special, a side of home fries, two carafe of mimosas, and onion rings. The pancakes just tasted like a big blob of dough, the two bites of egg needed salt and pepper even though we had requested cheese in them, potatoes weren't crispy or anything just a little salt and chopped onions on top nothing tasty there, and the onion rings were horrible tasted like just grease wrong batter and onion for onion rings. We also seen online before heading there they had bottomless mimosas until 2pm on Friday-Sunday which apparently is a lie because we arrived about 12:50 hoping we'd get an hour in of mimosas just to be told they end at 1:30pm so that was a down side. The server there at the time wasn't too friendly and either was new or filling in for someone he didn't know the menu looked at everything we pointed to and had a hard time working the machine hopefully he was just filling in for someone. I had finished a notary signing at Pinole Valley Road and decided to drop by Tina's for a small bite. I always liked the cozy atmosphere of the restaurant and it's simple, but tasty plates. (The only downside is the lack of parking.) However, there was a spot out front - yay! Angela was our server. She was nice, efficient and personable. I had the Chicken Pesto On let (YUM!) and my husband had a hamburger with cheese and onion. He said it was excellent! I truly enjoy this spot and will continue to drop in. read more

I've not been to this establishment in over 15 years even though it's only a mile from my house. My friend and I decided to meet for brunch there a few weeks ago on Friday. We both ordered the Belgian waffle breakfast that came with sausages or bacon and 2 eggs. My friend opted for sausages and scrambled eggs and I chose eggs over easy with the sausages. When the waitress brought us our food, they were both scrambled eggs. I just went ahead and settled for the scrambled eggs Instead of returning it for the eggs over easy. Our waitress said she would have made the egg over easy but i thought this was not necessary. The feedback was for future. I would definitely recommend Tina's place. Our server was attentive and not over bearing. The waffles were perfect. I don't know about their dinner or lunch menu, but I do highly recommend the Belgian waffles. On my next return I'll try the eggs Benedict. Honestly I'm not sure about the negative reviews as my experience here was awesome. I hope more people would give Tina's place a chance since this is our local cafe downtown Pinole. It's nice and clean and excellent customer service. You will not be disappointed. read more
