I am very unhappy the bus is dirty, seats are torn. And there are no phone outlets. Who wants to ride that long without charging their phones. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't use this service again. The seats are too small, if you are over 5'5" expect your knees to be in your chest. the driver was speeding through the entire trip putting passengers safety at risk. there were no announcements on conduct for the overnight trip so people were on their phones up until 3 AM. this company should be shut down for violations. after cancelling my return trip 3 days prior to the date they credited me 30% of the ticket price to go towards my next trip with them AS IF. The ride started with repeated breakdowns. The engine kept stalling, and we pulled over more than once. Tensions were rising, and passengers were understandably concerned. Then came the moment that truly exposed how unfit this company is to operate: a passenger asked for access to their medication, which was stored underneath the bus. The driver refused. When the passenger insisted, the driver began shouting aggressively at them, yelling at other passengers as well. People were scared. Some tried to intervene, and the driver escalated the conflict even more. The environment on board became hostile, chaotic, and frightening. Faced with what felt like a completely unstable situation, I--and seven other passengers--chose to get off the bus at a rest stop and arrange our own Uber to Boston, just to get away. We felt safer paying out of pocket than staying on that vehicle another mile. It doesn't stop there. I contacted customer support and was initially met with broken English and copy-pasted policy language, claiming the trip was "completed" and therefore not eligible for a refund. Then, they abruptly ended the chat. They completely ignored the actual facts: * I didn't complete the trip. * The driver was verbally abusive and denied access to medication. * The bus was not roadworthy and broke down repeatedly. * I had to evacuate and pay for my own ride due to unsafe conditions. I then sent a formal written complaint demanding a refund, reimbursement for the Uber, and a travel voucher as a bare minimum for what I endured. So far? No real response. No accountability. No compassion. This isn't just a bad customer service story--it's a public safety issue. I will be filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, and any agency that oversees transportation safety. I arrived at South Station at approximately 5:30 AM, but there was no indication of a 6:45 AM departure. The earliest FlixBus to NYC present was scheduled for 7:15 AM. When boarding began around 7:00 AM, the driver refused to allow me--and many other passengers holding 6:45 AM tickets--to board, without providing any explanation. There was no staff available on-site, no posted updates, and no contact information on the ticket that could help clarify the situation. After waiting and receiving no guidance, I was forced to abandon my trip and return home. Later, I located a customer service number online on my computer and contacted FlixBus. I was told that the 6:45 AM bus had been delayed until 7:51 AM. However, this information was not communicated at the station, and no updates appeared on the departure boards. When I requested a refund, I was informed that because the delay was under two hours, I was not eligible. From a passenger perspective, the bus appeared effectively canceled: there was no communication, no assistance, and no way to reasonably access updated information in real time. Many passengers were left confused and stranded. You really need to start giving a zero star option. My niece travels from Boston to NY often and she had a few uneventful trips with Flixbus so she signed up for an account that would allow her to use her student discount. Well after about the fourth trip things went bad. She encountered a very aggressive driver who had an issue with her small duffle. A woman tried to intervene on her behalf asking why she was singled out since others had duffles that were way larger. Apparently the seat next to her near the front of the bus was needed for the driver to sit additional bags on and so someone was placed in the seat next to her and the two seats behind the driver were used to place additional bags, including hers, which would have fit just fine beneath the seat. My mother ran up to the bus to inform them that she would need her medication during the long trip and he was extremely rude to my mother. I called customer service who said they would contact the driver to give her access to her medication. They never did. After 2 hours I told her the hell with what he says, you take your bag and you get your medication. My niece is not confrontational and she did not want to do this, but luckily he made an unscheduled stop at a rest stop and she was able to access her medication. At the same time she accessed her charger, but alas the port at her seat did not work. By this time she didn't feel well anyway and tried to sleep. She had later informed me that this particular driver is always extremely rude with passengers. I told her there were other options and the next time we booked with Greyhound. The trip was much better but she preferred the Flixbus only because their stop is on the street and not in the Port Authority bus terminal where she had a hard time meeting her ride afterwards. So we tried Flixbus again this last week and the bus was late. On the way to the station she got notification that it would be 2 hours late, then one hour late, then 2 hours....you get the point. It ended up being an hour late leaving and packed to the gills with people. She was lucky to get her assigned seat (which again we paid extra for) because they were adding passengers because of the bus that was apparently cancelled. She made it home okay, but it wasn't a very comfortable ride and again, she experienced a broken charging port. Thankfully her neighbor allowed her to share theirs. I used to use Megabus, which I only experienced one problem with and that was because of a passenger. I told my niece to give them a try for now on, despite the fact that they don't offer a student discount. Hopefully she won't encounter such rude service. She does not pay money to get yelled at and have her health ignored because someone is on a power trip. read more

I was super nervous reading all the reviews. As it was my mistake to book first and then do research. It wasn't a bad experience. I took this from Boston to NY and back. The NY arrival was a bit late but traffic was very chaotic. Boston I arrived a few minutes earlier. I would have given it more stars but on the way to NY the driver didn't have the ac on and it got really hot( my mistake for not getting up and asking as well). The charging ports are also a hit and miss. I will say carry the USB port as well bc most of these have that type of charger. read more

I've been a regular FlixBus customer for about four years and recently noticed a change in their cancellation policy. I accidentally purchased a new ticket while trying to simply change the date and time on my original one. It was a small, very human mistake that I caught right away, so I contacted customer service. Unfortunately, I was told that under the new policy, they couldn't adjust my booking without charging another cancellation fee--on top of one I had already paid. The representative was polite, but the system left no flexibility to fix the situation. I found this disappointing, as I've never had this issue before. In the end, I canceled my ticket completely and rebooked with another bus company that was both more understanding and more affordable. I wish I could give zero stars. I rode the Flixbus from Boston to NYC. A few minutes after we started driving, I noticed a tugging of my shirt as I moved. I turned to try to figure out what was wrong with the seat and I found a small metal sharp spike poking out of the back of the seat. In finding it, I cut my finger and it started to bleed. I also realized the spike had ripped my brand new shirt. The bus was full, and moving, so I was unable to get up and switch seats. I had a folder in my bag so I put it behind my back for the remainder of the hot, uncomfortable ride. When we arrived in NY, I told the driver and and showed him my bleeding hand and he told me to go to an office, which was closed. I was given a customer service number to call. I had to call customer service 3 times to get through and not get disconnected. The person told me I needed to submit a refund request online and include all my photos of the spike, my bloody cut, etc. I included also my ripped shirt and my folder with holes in it from the spike. I received a response that they would refund me FIVE DOLLARS for what I paid to select my seat. This is INSANE. I called customer service again and they said that because the trip was completed they can't refund my ticket. So apparently even if they deliver you bleeding with your clothing ripped because of their shitty damaged seats they won't refund your ticket. She said I could reply to the email to escalate but that no one can help me over the phone. I have replied and I am awaiting response. This is probably the worst bus experience I have ever had. I also encountered a couple whose bus had abandoned them without their luggage during a connection. Flixbus seems absolutely terrible. I took it once in Germany and it left everyone in an abandoned parking lot 2 blocks away from the station where it was supposed to stop. Yesterday, I had a scheduled trip from New York with a departure at 3:45 p.m. We boarded the bus right at that time, and half an hour later, we were informed that it was canceled due to a technical problem. They told us we would be reassigned to another bus, but they didn't provide any further explanations. At 4:15 p.m., we received an email informing us that we had to catch a new bus at 5 p.m., but from another station 5 km away. We had to run with our luggage those 5 km across the city and arrived just 2 minutes before the new bus departed. Furthermore, the new route took longer, so we arrived 2 hours late at our destination. We contacted Flixbus to express our dissatisfaction, and their response was that since we made it to the bus, the service was considered complete, and there was nothing more to say. I don't know how the service is with other companies, but it's clear that Flixbus doesn't care about the well-being of its passengers. I strongly recommend trying other options. read more

Basically I chose Flixbus to travel point A and B with Reasonable price (different rate depending on your preferred schedule). Rest room area in the bus was smelling crazy. Other than that bus came early to pick passengers up at Coolidge Corner (Brookline MA) stop, departed exact on time and arrived at NYC Midtown stop 15min delayed due to really bad traffic. I had hard time to find returning bus at NYC stop. No indication, so I had to ask around. Booking tickets on line and also phone app operates very well comparing with other companies. Tried to contact with customer service but I could not reach anyone. Overall I figured Flixbus is my best choice and booked another Boston to NYC round trip. read more

In a world of inflation, eye-popping gas prices and insufficient bus services, Flixbus is the place to go. The last of a dying breed. I won't call out other bus services, but in 2022 Flixbus is the opposite of the other options when it comes to rides from Boston to NYC. You can still get a one way bus ride for $20 to $30 on a Saturday, I am almost certain you can't find this elsewhere. I've taken this bus four times (two round trips) and three of the four times the wifi worked! In baseball if you hit .300 you're a very good player, so I'll take that. But most importantly the bus LEAVES ON TIME. Arrive early, because it will leave your ass behind. The only caveat is the bus often picks up/drops off in Boston on Traveler street (15 minute walk from South Station) and makes a quick stop in Brookline to pick up/drop off more people. Just be sure to check the details before purchasing your ticket. Sometimes the bus does pick up and drop off at South Station. Overall, especially compared to its competitors, Flixbus is the best option for bus trips from Boston to New York. read more
