    Huevos verde

Hate to the bearer of bad news, but I didn't think the food here came close to five stars. All the mimosas tasted like straight up champagne and we also weren't told what all the flavors were. I feel like when you get flights at other places, it's presented a bit better. I got the huevos verde and even though everything was cooked well, it lacked so much seasoning and flavor. The breakfast potatoes could've been a bit crispier too. They have a trio of hot sauces on the table and none of them were spicy and that says a lot from someone who cannot handle spice. I thought it was interesting that there were hot sauces on the table but no salt and pepper, but they have it if you ask. Service was great and the staff were nice but I don't see myself coming back.

I was surprised to see that I'd never written a review for Flo since we used to get bfast at Flo often pre pandemic. Their steak and eggs were one of the best in town. We came here recently bc I had a hankering for some steak and eggs. I was very disappointed to see that they got rid of steak and eggs from the menu altogether, sad day. So husband got the Guadalajara Scramble and I got the huevos rancheros. The steak in the scramble was very chewy, I could barely chew it. I was bummed by my huevos rancheros; I found the red sauce to be flavorless and wished I'd asked for the verde sauce instead. We were both underwhelmed by the quality and taste of the food, which was disappointing since we remember how good it used to be here. Service was just aight. We went right after Christmas and they at least had lovely Christmas decor up, I did enjoy that. Parking is pretty easy, there's a lot of pay to park on Chicago.

Flo is a great restaurant! I stopped in for brunch and had no wait around 1pm on a Sunday. We were seated and served quickly. The brunch menu was extensive and everything was reasonably priced. I got the Flo Style which was eggs, pico de gallo, potatoes, and black beans. I wish the potatoes were crispier but it was a tasty dish overall.

While visiting the neighborhood I came to Flo for brunch with some friends. We came in around 11 am and were literally the only ones there. The service was alright, not the greatest but not the worst either. I did appreciate that they make their own delicious hot sauces but my food was just alright. I had the red chilaquiles. The flavor was great but I was kind of shocked that they didn't come with a protein of any kind and not even an offer to add egg. Overall it was ok. Maybe the dinner service is better than brunch.

Came on a Saturday afternoon to hang with my Y.E.S. girls. Flo pulled us in by the diverse brunch menu. Located in Noble square right off Chicago Ave. Plenty of paid parking on Chicago Ave but some free parking about a two block walk. I enjoyed my turkey sandwich. It was a Smoked turkey, bacon. jack cheese, sautéed red pepper, guacamole, spinach and chipotle aioli on thick cut country sourdough served with breakfast potatoes. The potatoes were okay but lukewarm. They felt like they were scooped out a pan, that was left on top of the oven. I enjoyed my Bloodymary $12 with a beer back ($2 upcharge). It was exactly what I needed after a night of partying. Establishment was clean and service was quick. Overall I enjoyed my experience but likely because my company was so good.

The Shrimp tostadas with the margarita in the foreground. Excellent.

I have been waiting to try Flo for quite a while. In addition to just being interested in the restaurant, I found out fairly recently that a friend of mine from college has a family connection to the restaurant (which made me even more interested in checking this place out). The family connection is from New Mexico, so I was told to try any of the New Mexico classics. I was not disappointed. In fact I was rewarded. I had the Hatch Green Chile Stew, and my friend had the Green Chile Chicken Enchiladas. The stew was one of the best restaurant stews/soups I've ever had. Stews are one of the most comforting foods I can imagine (especially in the Winter), and this one was so flavorful, but without "too much" punch or heat. Personally I could have stood a "little" bit more heat, but I totally understand why a restauranteur in that particular neighborhood would play it a little "safe" on the heat levels. The dish was so good that it really did feel like I was having a meal at someone's home, which to my mind is the mark of many of the best restaurants I've experienced. When my friend's enchiladas hit the table, I immediately thought to myself; "damn, that looks good. Maybe I should have ordered that." I tried a bite, and it was as good as it looked. That entire plate just looked "right." If you've had authentic food from either; Mexico, or the Southwest of the U.S. (although New Mexico really is or at least "can be" it's own separate thing), then this plate will look and smell and taste quite right. So good, and served at the right temperature. That might sound like a small thing, but I've had otherwise excellent meals not exactly ruined (but significantly diminished) by the food being too cool when it comes out. This was not that place, and I REALLY appreciate that aspect of a restaurant's service. The servers were super friendly but not intrusive, and they were really patient with me and my friend as we were; catching up with each other after not having seen each other for a while, and not ordering (and not quickly reviewing the menu although I suspected that we might push close to closing time given when we sat down). I almost forgot that we started with the; guacamole, and the shrimp tostadas. The chips served with the guacamole were virtual perfection. And that doesn't sound like an area where a restaurant might shine, but I've had so many substandard chips (too thin, too greasy, too heavy, et cetera) that when you have REALLY good ones - they leave a mark on your memory. The guacamole was really good, and the tostadas were very satisfying. I could have easily ordered a few of those and been completely satisfied with my meal. We started everything that night with; a Paloma (for me), and a margarita for my friend. He liked his drink, and wished that we had time for him to order a second since there were so many interesting margaritas being offered. The Paloma was true to form and its description, and it's a perfect light touch drink. To close it out my friend and I shared a Sopapillas dessert. It was fairly light and perfectly sweet but not overly so. The cinnamon, honey, and vanilla were a perfect way to end our meal. I'm VERY, very interested in heading back to try some of the rest of this drink menu and the regular menu sooner rather than later. Great staff and service and food.

    Lobo skillet

Stopped into Flo for brunch. We ordered the lobo skillet and red chilaquiles. The food was well-seasoned, flavorful, and filling. This was a great place for a satisfying and affordable meal. The servers were kind and accommodating as well--one of us had a pork allergy and they were able to make the skillet with chicken instead.

    Fresh yummy Paloma!

Excellent staff, fantastic special and standard cocktails, awesome food, great ambiance! Been a fan for over 15 years..love this place.

SO GOOD. Loved the vibes and such a unique and fresh take on breakfast. All of the staff members were so kind. Definitely a great spot.

I am really disappointed in the food that was served at Flo. Coming for brunch with some girlies we started off with some cocktails. I ordered the lavender dust cocktail - under their mimosa list. It was incredibly bland. It was purple for sure but no hint of lavender. If you wanted to turn up/ get intoxicated, a couple of these could have you off your butt. I chose to order the portobello mushroom tacos as the other options were typical and overly pricey. The dish did not return as I would have expected. It was an open face taco merged/ melted into one another with a bunch of eggs and sprinkles of mushrooms. There was no pico de gallo but rather a red mole type sauce in top and black beans. I get this is a vegetarian friendly dish but for the price, vegetarians deserve better. There was no season, salt or flavor at all. You would have thought you lost your ability to taste the way this food didn't do anything for the palate. The portion size and presentation for the price requested does not match and it is not ok.

Green Chilaquiles with sunny side up eggs
    Tracy L.

My favorite breakfast spot when visiting Chicago. We visited on a beautiful Sunday for brunch. They have 4 outdoor tables and umbrellas setup so we were able to dine on the "patio" (sidewalk) with my corgi. I ordered the Green Chilaquiles (off menu) with sunny side up eggs for $14. You need to specify how you want your eggs; otherwise, they will default to scrambled eggs. Husband ordered Flo's Original Burrito for $12; it came with potatoes and beans. We enjoyed our breakfast. Service was prompt and friendly.

Green Chile Chicken Enchiladas - added in green hatch chiles + an egg. Outstanding!

    Is there outdoor dining?

Yes. We have a patio in front of the restaurant.

Do they take reservations? Here it says they do, but I didn't see any option to do so here or on their website.

Do you have gluten free options?

Yes we have lots of gluten free options. Just talk to your server and they will guild you in the right direction.

Is the French Toast available all day on weekends?

    Is it BYOB?

    They have a full bar!

What time does the brunch menu end on the weekends?

Brunch ends at 4pm on Saturday and 3pm on Sundays.

How loud is it in here? How are interiors-is there good day light and is it lively or is it cozy?

More lively than cozy. It can be pretty busy. I love this place but I would want something a little more intimate on a first day. Every other date go here, because it is wonderful, but the first date pick something more cozy.

Do you play music during Saturday brunch?

We don’t have live music. We do have music playing through our speakers.

    Any Vegan options?

I really didn't see on the menu. Sorry

Do they take reservations on weekends?

Weekend nights but not brunch. You can visit our yelp page and add your name to the list the day of your party.

First of all, it is absolutely gorgeous inside! I am in awe of the fine details and want to meet the interior designers! Our waiter, Moe, was personable and friendly and offered us great recommendations. It was about half full at the time we were here - I saw a lot of people ordering the plantain chips! They must be good! We didn't order them, however. My boyfriend and I each got the weekdays meal deal where, for $29 a person, we get our choice of a salad or soup, then our choice of the entree, and a drip coffee and dessert. Since half the entrees cost nearly $29 to begin with, this is a great deal! I chose the kale salad with dressing on the side. My boyfriend chose the butternut squash soup. In our relationship, sharing is caring! So we each tried each other's food. My salad was unique - I liked the dressing and I LOVE when fresh fruit are in salads! We both liked the soup as well and finished both our appetizers. As is my tradition, I had to get their cubano. It is a very large portion, but I love cubanos! The pulled pork was pretty fatty but like, the perfect amount of fatty for the unhealthy sandwich that is a cubano! My boyfriend got the kimchi salmon entree. I went here with my best friend and my hubby to celebrate my birthday with a great birthday dinner…read more We were in the Chi already visiting Atlas Stationary as a self-proclaimed station and fountain pen freak so we figured why not?!? I had heard great things about Carnivale prior to so please note that prior reservations were already made but regardless, it was all our first times there and we were stoked to finally try this place out. When we first got there, the outside was very unassuming. Some awesome graffiti on the wall (yes, angel wings included) and lots of color which made me so happy! As we entered, we were greeted by lots of colored flora on the walls and the floor. It led to a beautiful lounge where we checked in. The hostess was quite kind and they escorted us to another room that had multiple floors, two I believe. We were sitting in the main dining area where dining tables were set up and the ceiling lights and decorations were super-duper colorful. It was brightly lit and festive. Seriously, the colors alone could make anyone happy and do a serious dopamine overload which was fine with me. We sat down, was introduced to our server, Oscar and then given menu's. I genuinely thought that this place was pretty small initially because it looked small from the outside but boy was I wrong! This place was MASSIVE. But! I digress, now that we had our menu's-- Let the party begin!! We started with the ceviche tasting which included four types of ceviche; shrimp, Yucatan style hamachi, salmon and tuna. All were really good with their own really distinct flavors but our top favorites were the salmon and the tuna. The salmon had a kick while the tuna had a great balance of heat and sweetness. Great way to start of this dinner! My bestie ordered coconut shrimp and smoked mushroom croquettes for her main meal. My hubs ordered the carne asado while I ordered the lechon asada. I also want to add that we ordered Mexican street corn on the side alongside mashed potatoes and Peruvian Jalea. Ah and before I forget, we also ordered our drinks which consisted of a: sangria, margarita, Cotton Candy Cosmo and Salva Honduran Pilsner. All were spectacular and made the night that more enjoyable as well! When we received our food. We were all really enjoyed it as we all shared our bites amongst one another. The coconut shrimp was well breaded and you tasted the coconut as well. The shrimps were large and juicy. The smoked mushroom croquettes were good with a smokey flavor and good breading, however, the breading may have a been a little thick because you couldn't really taste the mushroom,m unfortunately. The carne asado was the star of the show. Well seasoned steak, cooked medium rare which was juicy and succulent. The lechon asado was good. Although I'm not used to eating lechon asado that is covered in sauce, the sauce was super tasty so I didn't mind the tender, juicy pork that was covered in it. I really enjoyed it. I think the only thing that I wish was different with regards to my lechon asado is that I wish it were hotter because it was luke warm when I received it. Other than that, it was....*chef's kiss*. The Mexican street corn was alright, it honestly just tasted like regular corn with mayonaise in it with some cheese. Didn't add anything significant to the meal. The mashed potatoes were soft but not too soft and buttery. They were really good and then the Purvian Jalea was another favorite, super good! The calamari, fish and shrimp with the Purvian Jalea were absolutely delicious; fresh, tasty and well breaded. It was absolutely yummalicious. To top the night off, they gave me a little birthday treat of cotton candy and carmel popcorn. We also had some tres leches which was so yummy because the fruit was fresh and you could taste the milk in the tender cake and then we had the chocolate cigar. The chocolate cigar was also really good, everything except the label was edible, It was smokey, chocolately and delectable. It's presentation was also so creative. We all loved it. Overall, this restaurant is SUPER PRICY but SUPER WORTH IT. I am so glad that I was able to go there to celebrate a special occasion because it would not be a place that I could go to on a regular basis but as much as I wish I was, ya girl ain't rich like that. The service was superb, the employees were kind, the food was fire and drinks were scrumptious. Check it out and you won't be disappointed. Now, I'm sorry for my novel and you may now go back to your normal programming schedule. If you do end up coming here and loving it -- i told ya so ;)

The menu features a variety of Spanish tapas, pintxos, small plates, and Paella. You are meant to order plates to share with table. Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba really prides themselves in serving authentic Spanish food and providing guests with a unique experience. The restaurant itself is very cute and has a fun vibe about it. There are plenty of seating options and a gorgeous bar as well. Service was wonderful! Our server did an excellent job checking in on us, refilling waters, and just making sure we were satisfied with everything. We did get a reservation via OpenTable, this is always necessary, but I would recommend doing this, especially on the weekends. We ordered a couple plates to start and the ended up ordering more throughout our meal. I really love that you can do this, it paces the food and allows you to enjoy the experience more. We put in orders for 2 of the goat cheese baked in tomato sauce, a patatas bravas, Spanish olives, and Spanish meatballs (Al Jerez). The food came out in a timely manner and was served made to order. We dove right in! The goat cheese was luscious and perfect on that cold afternoon. It's baked in their old world Spanish oven and served with house garlic bread. This dish was super creamy, with a nice tang from the tomatoes, and just phenomenal. The patatas bravas were just divine! The spicy potato's were cooked to perfection, crispy on the outside and yet soft on the inside. They paired perfectly with sun-dried tomato aioli they were served with as well. The Spanish Meatball were decent as well. They had great texture and I really enjoyed the sherry tomato sauce they were served in. For our next round, we had to order more patatas bravas because they were just that good! We also got some calamari and extra bread for the remaining baked goat cheese. The fried calamari comes with tomato crudo and a jalapeño aioli. It was nice and crispy, nothing too special but still hit the spot nonetheless. Overall, I was so happy my friends and I came here! The food was amazing all around, no complaints at all. The service was great as well. They are very accommodating and do a great job taking care of guests. Loved the interior of the restaurant, it was super cozy! I will definitely have to return next time I'm in the area to try more tapas. Highly recommend!

Happy hour on a Saturday? Sign me up!…read more We landed on Boleo as our option for early dinner for four of us before a tango concert and performance because it's South American, and we love a theme. We never expected happy hour to be relevant for us, but our wonderful server pointed it out. Since none of us had tasted pisco before she brought us a pisco sample to try. Three of the four of us ordered pisco cocktails, and they were great! The chilcano is a pisco variation on a Moscow mule. I'm not a big fan of mules, but I liked the chilcano a lot. Whenever I'm back, I'll probably go for the pisco sour, which one of our party had and also really enjoyed. The arroz chaufa was a nice satisfying dinner that wasn't too heavy for the early hour. The loma saltado and vegetable saltado were both very much enjoyed as well. Flan was just okay. The orange was a wonderful touch that probably saved something much too custardy for me to think of as flan. Service was absolutely great. Everyone we interacted with was super professional and easy going. We didn't know what to expect for the space, and when we arrived before sunset, it felt weird how bright it was in there. After sunset, the whole space felt a lot more swanky. Prices are a good value, even apart from the happy hour offerings. This is a great option for pre-show dining in the loop.

When it snows, you'll see the magic come down during your dinning experience. Based on what we heard, they at times, have a DJ playing jams and people can dance to the tunes. Sometimes, they even have a live band is what I've heard. Sounds like a really cool spot for major events or holidays, like New Year's Eve. Staff was attentive and great with recommending options to us. We love it when they engage and share their thoughts on current dishes. From a food perspective, everything tasted decent. There are areas of opportunity that could have been better. Octopus was a bit overcooked and you can definitely taste the chewiness of it. Flavor is ok but text for this dish did not come through. Ceviche "Jipijapa" de Manabi was a bit salty also, but not to the extreme. Scaling back the sodium level to achieve balance would made this a good dish. If sodium is needed, salt can be introduced afterwards. Lomo Saltado was paired with an aioli sauce instead of the green Aji verde sauce. It would have been a better pair with the verde sauce to balance out the savory profile. Overall meal was ok. Love the vibe which made it a great place to catch up or go on a date.

The drink was refreshing and tasty but the meal is where things took a turn. The meat was a bit tough, fatty, had no flavor, and overall wasn't very good. The fries were perfect but I couldn't get with the steak and unfortunately, sent it back. I tried to do it medium but got the same result. I was hurt because everyone's pictures of this dish is what led me in here but they couldn't get it right! Maybe they were having an off night? I have to commend the staff as they were incredibly friendly and went out of their way to make sure everything was to my liking. While they couldn't nail the steaks, they excelled in customer service and care. I'll def make a return visit next time in the area.
