The quesabirria platter is a must order. Some of the best I've ever had. We love this spot and have frequented over a few years. It's always been consistently good with great service and delicious food. Definitely a diamond in the rough.

Stopped in for lunch, and the food absolutely impressed me. Enchiladas are one of my favorite treats, and Sabroso makes excellent Enchiladas. I placed a to‑go order on a Wednesday afternoon, and my food was ready the moment I walked in.Parking, however, is extremely tight. There's a bus stop directly in front of the restaurant, so those spaces are off‑limits. Ashland Ave had no available parking for a couple of blocks, and the nearest side street is permit‑only. I eventually found a spot about a block and a half west on a side street. I imagine parking would be even more difficult during dinner hours. This storefront has about a dozen tables and has bright and charming decor. Despite the parking hassle, the food was absolutely worth the trip.

Best Mexican food I've had in a very long time. The carne asada tostada was delicious and we also tried the tampiquena. So good! Had the Jamaica drink and a tres leches cake. The service was so kind and friendly and I truly can't wait to be back again. 10/10! Must do.

Sabroso Mexican Grill totally lives up to its name -- sabroso indeed! The food was fresh, flavorful, and hit all the right notes. The staff went above and beyond -- super friendly and made us feel like regulars even though it was our first time. But the best part? You can bring your own beer! Nothing beats sipping your own favorite brew with some killer tacos and guac. The combo of great service, delicious food, and BYOB vibes makes this place a total win. Definitely adding it to my Chicago go-to list! The server gave us Choco flan for running a marathon. Gracias

Huge portions at an affordable price, staff was fantastic and welcoming! This is the kind of restaurant you go to and can feel the family run authenticity and want to become a regular. It's BYOB with a cute patio. Even after being stuffed we got the Flan and it was so light and a perfect way to cap off the visit. Definitely recommend!

The service here when you're dining in is top notch. I had ordered once from them in the past during brunch. I was craving chilaquiles. It didn't hit the spot but I think that was because I had a long drive home so it got cold and soggy. The other day I went to check out my friend's new apartment and was starving so I looked for food in the area. To my surprise, this was right down the street. So I popped in, got seated promptly and asked the waitress what was the best thing on the menu. She said chicken fajitas. So I ordered chicken fajitas. It came out piping hot. Those chicken fajitas with flour tortillas and a Mexican coke made my night. The chicken was so flavorful and there was so much food. I had leftovers and was able to experience the flavors again for dinner the next night.

Very enjoyable evening out for dinner after a hard work week. We searched around and tried to find places to try some yummy Mexican food. I am from California and on the search to find really Mexican food it has been a hard find on the north side of Chicago. We had never been here or never even seen it to be honest and we drive on Ashland often but I'm so glad it popped up with positive reviews on yelp. Ultimately, we ended up getting a California burrito and also some tacos. While we waited for our meal to be delivered to the table. We were treated with complementary salsa and chips. I really enjoyed the green salsa as it had some spice to it. For drinks, we got ice cold Jarritos from the fridge and they even offered us ice filled glasses. These drinks are a childhood favorite of mine and they had my number one flavor so definitely had to go ahead and order that to wash down my burro. My California burrito was good but I think the next time I'll just get a Carne Asada burrito or try the Birria Ramen. All at all, this was a really good experience. They had a bustling takeout system going on. I think more food was heading out of the restaurant than being died inside. They also had two patio areas which were dog friendly. One last thing is this place is bring your own bottle so I didn't see a couple people smart enough to bring their own bottle and the next time I go I will be bringing my own bottle to enjoy inside the restaurant to check this place out.

Had an amazing experience here! We were able to call ahead and reserve a table for 10 people. They have free chips and salsa that came with 2 salsas. They refilled the chips and salsa in a timely manner. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. The chicken tostada and the breakfast burrito were both delicious. It was a great value as well. I was able to take my leftovers home for a second meal. They had great service, especially for such a large group. Would love to visit Sabroso again!

Authentic and yummy casual spot for dinner. Big portions which is always the best. The guac and the homemade corn tortillas were delicious. Fajitas were a bit too oily for my preference but still very tasty!

We live down the street and this is our new go-to Mexican spot. Fast, delicious and great service. I really like the salsas, although the hot sauce is not hot enough for me personally. Next time maybe I'll ask if they have anything hotter. Highly recommend anyone in the area stop in and stuff themselves here!

Delicious , authentic Mexican food here. As soon as you walk in , you are greeted with the smell of great food. They were pretty busy, but still accommodating. I had the fish taco and carne asada taco. Both delicious , with large portions. Good times

They'll give you a massive "bible" and it's basically a dictionary of all the liquors they have. Every one of them comes from Mexico. We sat at the bar and our bartender was really friendly. To drink, we chose two off the featured cocktail menu. They were doing a tomatillo theme. We ordered the Roasted Tomatillo Jam Sour and Tomatillo-Serrano Herbal Margarita. My favorite was the margarita because it was a little savory. I also got the milk punch which was so good! Probably one of the best I've had. To eat, we ordered the fire fried chicken, late night smash burger, and side of yucca fries. Everything was delicious. The burger is definitely a hidden gem! It was amazing. And the chicken was fried perfectly crispy. For dessert, we got both options: the chocolate strawberry sundae and the coconut tres leches. Both were great and I had difficultly choosing my favorite!

Their guacamole is pretty good and can come loaded with a lot of toppings. I recommend getting them on the side so it's not overwhelming the flavor of the guac itself. The chips were a little stale and extra hard. I had the crispy eggplant griddle and it was good. I could have used a little more spice but the side of salsa verde helped. The churro sundae was the best part of the meal. We also tried the plantains for dessert (simple but pretty good). I did the pineapple spicy marg which was their seasonal one and it was also pretty good. Friends got their steak which looked good. And their pozole looked the best. That's what I would try if I came back. Their service was aggressive... clearing plates as people hurriedly grabbed the last bite off of them, interrupting conversations. But they did check back on us frequently. It's a little small and the footprint is a little awkward. We got the one table for our larger group (10) and needed the reservation to add some predictably into the night. Was it good? Yeah, decent. Would I go back? It's not a no, but there are other more magnificent places in the area. It's Chicago after all.

We started with the plantains appetizer, and it was one of the most unique and delicious appetizers we've had. If you go, don't skip it. The tacos were outstanding, and homemade tortillas are always a huge plus in my book. I had two chicken tacos and one carne asada, while my wife had the cod tacos. All of them arrived already dressed with sauce, and every bite was packed with flavor. They clearly know how to build a taco. The service was friendly and attentive throughout our meal. We also enjoyed the house margaritas. My only suggestion for improvement would be upgrading the standard tequila from Cuervo. The margarita was good enough that I ordered a second, but I upgraded the tequila that time, and it made an already good drink even better. Overall, we really loved this place. Between the creative appetizer, excellent tacos, friendly staff, and great atmosphere, it's an easy recommendation.
