    Breakfast Burrito

Had an amazing experience here! We were able to call ahead and reserve a table for 10 people. They have free chips and salsa that came with 2 salsas. They refilled the chips and salsa in a timely manner. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. The chicken tostada and the breakfast burrito were both delicious. It was a great value as well. I was able to take my leftovers home for a second meal. They had great service, especially for such a large group. Would love to visit Sabroso again!

The service here when you're dining in is top notch. I had ordered once from them in the past during brunch. I was craving chilaquiles. It didn't hit the spot but I think that was because I had a long drive home so it got cold and soggy. The other day I went to check out my friend's new apartment and was starving so I looked for food in the area. To my surprise, this was right down the street. So I popped in, got seated promptly and asked the waitress what was the best thing on the menu. She said chicken fajitas. So I ordered chicken fajitas. It came out piping hot. Those chicken fajitas with flour tortillas and a Mexican coke made my night. The chicken was so flavorful and there was so much food. I had leftovers and was able to experience the flavors again for dinner the next night.

Authentic and yummy casual spot for dinner. Big portions which is always the best. The guac and the homemade corn tortillas were delicious. Fajitas were a bit too oily for my preference but still very tasty!

Sabroso Mexican Grill totally lives up to its name -- sabroso indeed! The food was fresh, flavorful, and hit all the right notes. The staff went above and beyond -- super friendly and made us feel like regulars even though it was our first time. But the best part? You can bring your own beer! Nothing beats sipping your own favorite brew with some killer tacos and guac. The combo of great service, delicious food, and BYOB vibes makes this place a total win. Definitely adding it to my Chicago go-to list! The server gave us Choco flan for running a marathon. Gracias

Very enjoyable evening out for dinner after a hard work week. We searched around and tried to find places to try some yummy Mexican food. I am from California and on the search to find really Mexican food it has been a hard find on the north side of Chicago. We had never been here or never even seen it to be honest and we drive on Ashland often but I'm so glad it popped up with positive reviews on yelp. Ultimately, we ended up getting a California burrito and also some tacos. While we waited for our meal to be delivered to the table. We were treated with complementary salsa and chips. I really enjoyed the green salsa as it had some spice to it. For drinks, we got ice cold Jarritos from the fridge and they even offered us ice filled glasses. These drinks are a childhood favorite of mine and they had my number one flavor so definitely had to go ahead and order that to wash down my burro. My California burrito was good but I think the next time I'll just get a Carne Asada burrito or try the Birria Ramen. All at all, this was a really good experience. They had a bustling takeout system going on. I think more food was heading out of the restaurant than being died inside. They also had two patio areas which were dog friendly. One last thing is this place is bring your own bottle so I didn't see a couple people smart enough to bring their own bottle and the next time I go I will be bringing my own bottle to enjoy inside the restaurant to check this place out.

We live down the street and this is our new go-to Mexican spot. Fast, delicious and great service. I really like the salsas, although the hot sauce is not hot enough for me personally. Next time maybe I'll ask if they have anything hotter. Highly recommend anyone in the area stop in and stuff themselves here!

Delicious , authentic Mexican food here. As soon as you walk in , you are greeted with the smell of great food. They were pretty busy, but still accommodating. I had the fish taco and carne asada taco. Both delicious , with large portions. Good times

This place has great value. I ordered to go and was able to eat a full meal for leftovers the next day. High five for the portion size! Inside was pretty active for a cold night, I could tell people were enjoying their meals. I'd def be back to try more things on the menu. Opted for chicken fajitas this visit.

Amazing from the beginning to the end. This family owned spot has some amazing food and customer service. The food is fresh and flavorful. Their menu states that these are their family recipes that are passed down; and you can taste the refinement in the flavor. Standard restaurant vibe and seating. They are byob and have margarita mix, juices, and sodas. Definitely would recommend

If I could give 6 starts I would! Incredible food, the friendliest and most attentive servers (even for those outside in the patio). So much food for the best prices and all full of flavor and good, quality ingredients.

Sporadically wanted some Mexican food and decided to stop by. The service was great due to the friendliness and speed. Our server was very helpful and welcoming which made the trip even better. The chips are fresh and the salsa delicious. I'd say that the green salsa was the best. The red pozole with pork is a very flavorful dish but can be overwhelming if you decided to eat the whole bowl yourself. I'd recommend sharing this dish. The ultimate fajitas entree was delicious, but mainly because of the sauces that accumulated on the bottom of the platter from cooking. The meat and vegetables didn't have seasoning, but it wasn't a bad thing. This allowed the juices from the everything to really shine. The portions are also really big for a great price. You probably won't finish this on your own. At the end our server gave us the chocoflan for free. Unfortunately, while the flan itself was fine, the sauce on top was very artificial tasting. This degraded the dish in our opinion. Based on my trip this place is a solid 4.5 out of 5 and I would recommend giving it a shot.

Very good service. Staff here are friendly. The sauce to the camarones was creamy and spicy. One also gets complimentary food. The tres leches cake tasted more like a pound cake.

Stopped in a little later on a weekday, say around 8pm. It's a small place and it was pretty full. I got lucky and was able to snag the one open table by the window. The waiter came right away and brought me a water and complimentary chips and 2 types of salsa. They were both super fresh and tasty. I ordered the al pastor enchiladas with red sauce. The enchiladas were really good! They came with a good amount of tender meat and a side of rice and beans, both were incredibly flavorful. The red sauce was delicious too. Towards the end of my stay some live musicians came in with a big family. The music was soooo loud that I could barely hear anything else. You couldn't have a conversation or hear the waiter. The place is just too small to have live music like that. There's barely any space as it is. Luckily I was just about done, but it definitely would've put a damper on an otherwise great experience.

Finished off with pulpo (what a fun, tender yet crunchy take!), bone marrow (so decadent and relatively large portion with crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside bread), and ceviche (I think it had sesame oil? The atmosphere was nice and the food itself was good but unfortunately, not nearly good enough to justify the price. Our bill came out to $435, which included a nacho appetizer, a tomahawk steak dinner (for the birthday guest), a ribeye steak dinner that was shared between two people, a three-steak taco dinner, margaritas for everyone, and sides of rice and beans. We were also charged a huge automatic gratuity. Everything is served à la carte, with tacos, rice, and beans all charged separately. The salsa and pico portions were very small, and refills were slow and minimal. I ordered the Dragon Fruit Margarita. While it tasted good, for $20 I expected a full glass. What really sealed the experience for me was the service. When my credit card initially declined because it was locked, the server threw my card back on the table after running it. I tried not to react, but it came across as rude and unprofessional. I don't mind paying for quality, but in today's economy, value matters. As far as service goes, it was just okay. It took quite a long time to receive our drinks and also to get the check at the end. While it wasn't a huge deal since we had plans afterward, we definitely felt like we were waiting longer than necessary. After finishing our meal, we waited at least 15 minutes for the check. Again, not the end of the world, but worth noting in case management sees this. The food itself was pretty fantastic. The chips and salsa were great and tasted very fresh. The salsa was especially good, so credit where it's due. We ordered the molcajete with an extra side of rice. While it was tasty, it was disappointing portion-wise. There was only one thin slice of chicken and one thin slice of steak, along with some chorizo. The thin portions made the dish feel overpriced. I've had molcajetes at many other Mexican restaurants, and usually they'll at least double the chicken if they're lighter on the steak. If you're ordering this expecting to be full, just know that you may not be. I compared these pics to the video I took in 2023. In 2023, this meal also included a scoop of sour cream, a scoop of guacamole, and pico de gallo on the side. This time our meal didn't include any of this. Also, in 2022 the molcajete included two slices of steak. So I definitely stand by the value has definitely decreased over the years. Flavor-wise, everything was very good. I enjoyed the meal, but we did end up grabbing something small afterward because the portion was pretty light. With the slower service, I also didn't feel inclined to order anything additional or extend our wait any longer. The drinks were pretty good overall. We ordered a skinny margarita and a mojito. It did take quite a while for them to reach our table. The mojito was just okay, but the skinny margarita was honestly one of the best I've ever had. I was pretty shocked when we received the bill and saw an automatic 18% gratuity applied to a party of two. That felt very odd, especially since I was planning to tip more. It left a sour taste in my mouth, particularly because this was a Sunday night around 9:00 p.m. What made it worse is that this policy isn't posted anywhere on the website or on the menu. If management is going to charge an automatic gratuity for parties of two, that information should be clearly printed and visible. While the food was good, I'm rating this place three out of five stars. Between the automatic gratuity and food portions that didn't quite justify the price, the overall experience fell short. I understand that times are tough for restaurants, but as customers we're also paying close attention to where our money is going, and value matters. Skimping off the top and bottom is going to lead to a decrease in return customers. It wasn't my choice to come here, and I'm not sure I would choose to return on my own suggestion.
