While visiting Reno, I found this butcher shop/restaurant on another social media platform…read more Everything they had to eat looked good and they highly recommended it. So I decided to give it a try. My husband and I were there for lunch. Upon walking into the store it is just so light and bright and open. The presentation of meats and seafood are displayed so beautifully. The menu for fresh food cooked right off the grill was right next to the cash register. My husband went with the bison, barbecue burger, and a side of fries, and I had the original burger with my choice of cheeses. Everything was prepared and served hot and fresh! We were offered ranch to go with our fries. I had a house made thousands island type sauce (but way better) to go on my cheeseburger. It was delicious. I asked one of the employees (Sarah) what was in it. She was very pleasant to talk to and very knowledgeable about all of their house made sauces. I told her that I loved the garlic in the Thousands island style sauce so she gave me a sample of their garlic aioli sauce! If you are a garlicholic like me, this is a must try!! Chefs kiss, for sure! I cannot recommend this location enough! When in Reno, it's a must try! If you go, tell Sarah her perimenopause, Indiana, garlic loving friend said hello!

Been waiting a long time to try this place. It did not disappoint. Yes these are ~$20 burgers but…read moreyou get what you pay for. Top quality meat and different meat & cheese choices. (Their Classic in my photo is probably their least impressive looking burger.) I ordered medium rare like always at a high-quality joint but I accidentally got someone's medium-well, and after tasting both, I actually preferred the the medium-well as the grind on the rare part of the medium-rare was a little mushier than I'm used to. Probably because most places you order a medium-rare you actually get a medium. Not here. I'd go medium on a return visit. I like they don't overseason the burger with too much salt like a lot of other places. Eaters with palates desensitized to salt due to a lot of fast food/burger eating may find the need to add salt to satisfy their salt craving. The burger sauce is also served on the side and is a bit milder, and more homemade tasting compared to your average burger sauces. This is great because the meat is so good you really don't want to overshadow it with salty seasoning and overpowering sauces. If you're going to dump a bunch of salt and sauce on it, just go to In-n-Out. They also have sandwiches, tenders and chili. If you think about it, a butcher shop deciding to serve cooked food is taking a risk. If the food isn't that great it can affect their meat business. The shop atmosphere is very upscale with high prices to match it like the rest of Rancharra Village. Very limited indoor bar dining and some tables outside. Not sure if the really high prices for the meats and seafoods in the case are worth it, but the saying "you get what you pay for" at least applies to the burgers here. My only suggestion is take a sharpie and scribble the cook temp (medium, medium-rare, etc) on the paper in the burger basket so groups don't get their burgers mixed up. They verbally pointed it out but it's easy to forget by the time you get back to your table with 3, 4, or 6 burgers. Fry basket is a great value, easily enough for 2 people and probably some of the best thick cut fries I've ever tasted with sort of a very light seasoned crispy panko outer texture to them. Updated Reno Burger Rankings primarily on quality/taste but also value is factored in but to a lesser degree: #1 Armandos #2 Royce #3 Beefy's tied with The Parlor #4 Archies Giant #5 Juicy's

Alec Crosby was recommended to me by my favorite butcher, George, when I reached out interested in…read morebuying a share of beef in February. Alec raises his cattle in Fernley so super local, the cows are happy cows not trucked to feedlots at the end of their life cycle. They have good lives, these are the things that I appreciate as a meat eater. And yes I do know all beef is finished on grain, but there's a difference in mixing grass and grain in fields etc. I ordered through his website, super easy. I got a 1/4 of beef, after trimming and cutting, I ended up with around 110 lbs of beef. The percentages of certain types of meat described on his website, ended up being spot on for me. Yes, I wrote down every package, weighed them and created a spreadsheet haha. The packages came wrapped in saran wrap then butcher paper with a stamp of the type of cut. I like knowing what the weight is so a print out sticker with that would be preferred personally in the future, but I just wrote the weight on each package. I kept in touch with Alec and he was very adamant about quality and my happiness He said if it wasn't anything less than amazing, he'd get me a new one. I have the messages for proof, but to be honest, even if I wasn't 100% happy, I could never do that to a small business over possibly small qualms. He cheered me on when I sent him some pics of my first meals with the meat I got from him. He is a young guy, expanding his long run, multi generational family business. On Facebook he showed that he was opening up a store front and I couldn't be more excited for him and for Reno. This is a dream basically, to have local sources of meat, in affordable prices. And I appreciate his ability to take a chance and try to bring back some of the good things from older genertions like neighborhood butcher shops. I suggest giving him a try when you need a butcher or want a beef share for the family if you have the room. It ends up being incredibly worth it cost wise in the long run even though it can be intimidating for an upfront cost. In the end, we have been going through our beef pretty slow, I still have around 50% of it left, and haven't bought beef at a store since February. I've eaten some new meals, cooked cuts in new ways and learned to like hamburger again (because this stuff is tasty and not close to store bought). I haven't had any bad cuts, and I feel so good eating this beef, supporting local business and new generations.

The butcher called on the date given and was very helpful in guiding me with what I wanted the most. Keighley, who was handling the delivery contacted me the same day to secure the delivery day and time which was 01/01/24 at 4:00. She reverified the day before delivery to confirm all was still good and delivered on time. I was so impressed with how professional, friendly and dialed in the entire team was. Great communication!!! I can't say enough good things about this company and I will continue to use them and let others know about how great they are. Going to try the Korean Ribs tonight.

US Foods CHEF'STORE is a bit Costco, a bit Smart & Final, and a bit Aldi. This place would supplement a grocery run, especially if you were planning a large family gathering. Their direct to consumer model probably fits more towards restaurants, including supplies like pizza boxes. I found prices to be reasonable, the perishables to be fresh, and with good selections in places like coffee syrups. Gayle and I will continue to shop Raley's as our main grocery store and with small item supplements at Trader Joes. But for the larger guest feeds, we'll be back.

US Foods, Chef store, as an overall company model is a net benefit to any community. If you think about it, the big players in hospitality have supply chain and distribution all figured out. US Foods supports the small independent businesses which are the backbone of the economy. Every business requires a level of proactivity and organization to be successful, but when it comes to having something ready to go in that last-minute pinch, US Foods solves many needs. If planned properly, with the "click and carry" option, everything can be ordered ahead for the week and picked up in one load. Prices are better than delivery overall. Many shelf stable items are on sale frequently and can be stock piled. Using US Foods chef store, and other direct to consumer stores for our supply chain during these pivotal years has allowed us to stockpile win, able, and order fewer items more often as necessary. Rough estimates for the five-year savings of using this method is close to $350,000. From 2021 to 2026. As compared to ordering from Sysco, US Foods direct, Chef's Warehouse, Bakemark, etc. While distribution companies are also extremely important for the private operator, the US Foods Chef store direct to consumer model requires no minimum, no surcharge, and allows for an individual operator to order as much or as little as needed. This morning I purchased a click and Karie order from the Carson City US Foods Chef store. I ordered it for Tuesday, but was told it wouldn't be until Friday. They communicated well and I had planned for the delay. I called them on Friday to verify that it had arrived, then went in on Saturday morning, super early to pick it up. Three people thanked me for my business. They each made me feel respected and appreciated. I'm happy to give them the business! Well, done, Team!
