This place is absolutely amazing and a hidden gem of northern Nevada! DO NOT pass by without stopping. Perhaps the best whiskey selection of northern Nevada and a tremendous selection of draft beers. The food is second to none. I'm not sure if the meats are local or butchered here, but I assume so. I had the Philly on this trip, which wasn't traditional but rather had thinly sliced and fresh rib eye steak! I also had the buffalo fires, which is basically French fries drenched in a delicious buffalo sauce. We were on our way to Schat's Bakery to find out the restaurant is closed on Monday. Well it was a good thing because we decided to try the Minden, Meat & Deli. I believe Kevin is the owner or at least sometimes. You walk-in to find many specials listed on the counter along with a menu! He has a ton of craft beers on tap and an assortment of liquor choices specializing in Bourbon. This place has a lot of character to say the least. I noticed he had many bottles of wine and liquor with discounted prices. Something to check out while you're having your lunch. A 16oz beer is around $6 -$8.50. My husband ordered a 24 oz beer but got served a 16oz which was fine. We split the Phil's Bratwurst and a bag of chips. The sausage was super tasty and my husband wants his own next time. There is sitting on the patio with umbrellas and you can bring your dog which is a nice touch! Also seating inside with low and high back chairs. Ate here yesterday... Very skimpy portion, mediocre flavor.Got the housemade bratwurst special sandwich on a steakroll with deli mustard and sauerkraut for $13. Very small length of bratwurst that was not much wider than a standard hot dog. It was cut in half and split horizontally to stretch across the roll. Id say the sausage was maybe 5" long on a 6 inch roll. Very little sauerkraut maybe 2 tablespoons. Bratwurst flavor was pretty muted sandwich is mostly roll. Felt ripped off like if at a stadium vendor..this a a $5 item. read more

Landed in Reno and was heading to my meeting in Minden, NV. Got to town early so search yelp for a place to eat for lunch and saw Minden Meat & Deli with great reviews. I ordered the Tri Tip deluxe sandwich. It was excellent! Had a side of bbq sauce and horse radish sauce to spice it up and the combo went well together. This was a great stop. Service was excellent (order at the counter). There are allot of seating inside and outside. It's a meat and liquor deli with lots of choices if you like Whiskey. Such a great stop in the small town of Minden. They have a massive selection of bourbon, whisky, wine, beer and even some ciders. We stopped in for a quick drink on our way to another function and were glad we did. After seeing what looked to be really great bar food being served, we definitely want to go back for lunch. I've been coming to this spot for nearly 10 years. They have gluten free options including bread and fries in their own fryer. My favorite go-to order is the tri-tip sandwich add pepper jack cheese. They have a 31 rap draft system full of a wide range of ciders, stouts, porters, ipas, lagers, sours, ales, and even kombuchas. It's impossible to not find something refreshing to enjoy or take in a growler. They have over 350 canned/bottled options too! They also have a large selection of craft sodas for non-alcoholic options. Oh yeah--don't forget about their variety of spirits. The service is usually very friendly and prompt. I've been coming here for years and have always loved the food and beer, which makes my last couple of visits especially disappointing. On my most recent visit, I ordered a scoop of ice cream for $3.50 and the small cup I received was less than half full. It amounted to about six small bites. When I pointed it out to the staff, I was told that was the "typical" serving size, which was honestly surprising and frustrating for the price. The week prior, I ordered a turkey pesto sandwich and it arrived looking more like half a sandwich than a full one. Between the shrinking portions and the response from staff, the value just isn't there anymore. Pretty simple review, we tried a bit of everything and all of it was amazing!!! They have a super fast and efficient system to get a lot of customers through during peak hours. Went in at Noon on a Sunday and were out with 3 sandwiches (tri tip, Reuben and meatball PLUS 2.5 pounds of uncooked tritip) in under 15 mins. Stopped by here for lunch and opted for the Ortega Burger and some Beer Batter fires. They had a great section of beers/ciders/kombucha for every taste and I went for Belching Beavers - Viva La Beaver!, which is their peanut butter milk stout w/ cinnamon & coffee, while very good, I prefer their OG peanut butter milk stout. As for the burger, it was a decent size, and the toppings and bun were spot-on. However, I found the burger itself to be a bit overcooked, resulting in a lack of flavor. I had to add salt, which is something I typically never do with my burgers. Next time, I'll be sure to request it cooked to medium to fully savor the flavors. While the fries were tasty, they were a tad too greasy for my liking, possibly due to the beer batter. As a result, I wouldn't order them again. The owner set us up with a bourbon tasting of 8 different bourbons. Kevin was very helpful with how to properly do the tasting to get the best results for our experience. So, rookie at the counter did not give me the burger I wanted because he just agreed with me on the kinda name. My bad for not insisting he verified the burger. The burger was large, but thin and easily overcooked, as mine was. Thin burgers are hard to cook medium rare. I think there was cheese on it, but my goodness, was the slice one millimeter thick and half the size of the burger? Wife loved the BBQ chicken burger sandwich. Beer was great! Reasonably priced. The building housing the Minden Meat & Deli was once a Heidi's and maybe a railroad station way before that. I've passed this place a number of times in my US 395 Geno-Gardnerville travels. I only recently stopped in for Lunch as I was serving as an Election worker during the recent presidential preference primary. I only had a half an hour and just barely made it back to work within that time. I attributed that to the relatively slow time it took between my order and picking up the sandwich. There's also a lot going on here, between the deli, meat counter, full bar and alcohol inventory, and seating, making it all a bit confusing. The bottom line though is that my hot sandwich was delicious and with sparkling water and chips, just what I needed to help get me though the afternoon. I do need to come back and peel back this onion that's called the Minden Meat & Deli a little more. read more

Minden Meat & Deli has a hole in the wall vibe, and more whiskey than I thought could possibly fit into one location. The seating area was lined with shelves of wine and bottles upon bottles of whiskey, rye, burboun, etc. This gave it a very old Nevada feel, but I do wonder how on earth they keep track of all of that inventory. For food, I couldn't decide on a sandwich order so I did the half and half. Half of a tri tip sandwich and half of the chicken bbq sandwich. The tri-tip sandwich came out with nothing on it, no sauce or spread and the people at the counter didn't ask if I wanted anything with it - just if I wanted the deluxe version which added cheese. The tri-tip was good quality, nice and tender but the sandwich really needed a sauce or dip. I did notice that there was an option to add on au jus, which I would have done had I known it was a dry sandwich. The BBQ chicken half was good, tender chicken with a good amount of sauce. I added on sweet potato fries, thank goodness! This is why I'm giving this place 4 stars instead of 3. The fries were absolutely delicious. Perfectly crunchy and thin. Overall I think this place could be great, but add some sauces! The only thing offered with the sweet potato fries is ketchup. Offer sides of ranch, honey mustard, or sriracha aioli and you would have the perfect fries! read more

Delicious Sandwiches, meat cuts and a large stability beer and whisky selection are found upon entry to Miden Meat and Deli. I enjoyed a small order of the pasta salad which was very tasty and split a Turkey Pesto and chicken BBQ on a roll. Both Sandwiches were great though I liked the BBQ sauceiness of the chicken BBQ more so. Definitely stop in for a look. read more

I always do a mom burger which is great but this I time I did the three cheese because the person taking the order couldn't figure out how to punch in the grilled mushroom, onion and Swiss burger. I'll pass on the three cheese. I would also recommend getting a basket of the fresh cut fries for two or more people. Very tasty. Picked up some beer for the road as always. This place makes sandwiches like a elementary school cafeteria. I am 100% convinced that people who love this place have never actually had a good sandwich or burger in their life. I've been here at least a dozen of time with people who want to go. Their burgers are always completely over-cooked and dry. I switched to sandwiches. The Reuben is the ONLY one that makes the cut as long as you do double meat. I mean honestly how hard is it to make a bad reuben? Yesterday randomly I was thinking "you know what let's try this again" and I got their Skirt Steak sandwich. I'm not playing y'all if this was what I was served in PRISON I wouldn't be surprised. What little meat there was on this giant dry roll tasted like dog food. Completely bland, unseasoned and lifeless. Keep in mind all of their sandwiches are not cheap. I think this was like $15 and that DOESNT come with fries. Just a big empty tray with a sad little great depression level sandwich. This place always has people there which truly makes me wonder what kind of food these people enjoy eating at home. If I had the choice of sleeping on a park bench in a snowstorm or sitting inside this collage student liquor bottle decorated building with a skirt steak sandwich...I'd ask where I can find some newspaper so I can have some padding on the park bench. Upon traveling into the Gardnerville area and driving around for work. I was looking forward to a new lunch exploration. Minden Meat and Deli's large signage and outdoor seating immediately caught my eye. I made a mental note and search other local businesses but was pretty set on coming here. I pulled in the the restaurant and there was ample parking. Upon walking in there's endless types of cheese and meats, and bottled alcohol, felt endless! I had glanced at the menu and saw a decent friday lunch time line (it was almost 2:00 p.m.!) but it was busy. I was between a few sandwiches but went with the turkey panini. Seeing that the dining area was pretty busy although spacious I decided to get it to go. I waited more or less for 10 minutes but there was so much to see. The sandwich was amazing nice and hot, but there was a hair in it sad face I was already on my way out so ended up throwing it away which was a bummer. One of their bathroom stalls was also very rough to see as well. I think if coming to the area again I would venture somewhere different. read more
