I looked at tile on the web and visited the store at St John's Town Center before buying 1600 square feet of tile. The tile I saw and the tile delivered are 2 different colors. I saw and bought white tile. My contractor had laid 3 bedrooms before I could inspect the job - the tiles are grey. Definitely NOT white. I went to the store and asked about this and was told it was a 'lot variation'. I can stand some variation but there's a lot of difference between white and grey. I can't believe it. It's a major purchase I will have to live with in my house. Everything is wrong now. All because of a 'lot variation'. Do I demo the 3 bedrooms and buy more tile or just accept this??? We set up an appointment for a design consultation on our house with Ryan. We were flooded during hurricane Irma and have to rebuild all the floors, bathrooms kitchen .... Neither my wife or I are comfortable selecting and matching the flooring to tile to paint ... While Floor&decor is not a store that provides customer service, my experience is that you must know what you want ahead of time. The prices are noticeable cheaper than other sources, so it stands to reason that there is no customer service. I have remodeled several properties over the past 3 years, and I have purchased Floor and Decor products for all of them, including a 2,500 sq. ft. home in 2011 with tile and 12mm Brazilian tigerwood single plank laminate, 400 sq. ft. of 12mm bamboo laminate flooring in 2012, 150 sq. ft. of India Almond 20 x 20 tile and 800 + sq ft of 12 mm Brazilian Tigerwood laminate in 2013-14, and another 600 sq ft of Brazilian Tigerwood this month. In addition to all that, I also purchased marble subway tiles, underlayment, etc. The point I'm trying to make is that I have spent thousands of dollars there, and, more importantly, I have been a loyal customer, driving 45 minutes from the beach to Orange Park every time -- one of those properties was even in Gainesville and I drove to Orange Park to buy the flooring. No more. I picked up half of my order last week, and when I got it home, I happened to find online that the flooring I had just purchased was $1.29 per square foot on their website, and I had just paid for 55 boxes at $1.49 per square foot. I called the store immediately and was assured that they would fix it the next time I was in. I didn't insist upon a name or anything because this is a pretty standard business practice to honor your own advertised price. I went ahead and installed the 33 boxes. So today when I went in to pick up the rest of my order, I told them about it. The young cashier, of course, had to speak to his manager, Scott, to figure out how to reimburse me. Scott informed me that that was the online price that I would pay if there wasn't a floor and decor store in my city and that shipping would be added onto that. I could tell that he was just flying by the seat of his pants, making up whatever he could on the spot. I told him that I had never heard of a company that wouldn't match their own advertised price. He said, "I don't have to compete with myself! Now, if you found another company that sold this product, and we could verify that, then we would match their price." I told him that, in fact, I noticed that floorus.com had the same product at $1.08/sq ft. He said he would call and check, and, I assumed he stepped away to do that. As I was waiting, I told the young cashier that I drive all the way from the beach to Orange Park because I believe that I get the best price at Floor & Decor. He was polite. We were both speaking calmly. So I was shocked when Scott whipped back around with an even worse attitude than before and said in a very hostile manner, "Ma'am, we're not gonna do it!" He then accused me of harassing the cashier, which completely baffled me since we were speaking calmly. I told him I was merely explaining my point of view. I looked around in disbelief that he had just suggested such a thing. I asked to speak to a manager, and he said he was. I asked if he was the general manager, and he got even angrier and said, "No, but I am making a decision!" I asked to speak to the general manager, and he said he would take me to him. Then he took off speed-walking through the store. I had a cart with my 3-year-old daughter in it, and Scott was completely out of sight before I could even turn the cart to follow him. Before I left his station, the young cashier gave me a heartfelt apology for all of the hassle, and I told him that he had been kind and helpful and that it wasn't his fault. When I caught up to Scott, he had already talked to the GM who was already saying, "No, we have to honor that [online] price." Then Scott said, "He's going to take care of it for you." And he tried to slip off as quickly as possible. Before he could leave, I told him that the way he treated me back there was completely unacceptable. He tried to save face in front of his manager, I guess, and said, "It's taken care of, so don't worry about it." As if that fact made up for how completely rude he was. The manager said he would talk to him later, and walked me back up front to get my refund. He never apologized for Scott's behavior, or for the inconvenience of running me back and forth around the store and wasting more than an hour of my time. In the end, I got $125 back. That's less than 10 percent of just this order. I never received an apology from Scott or the GM. After all of this, now I'm not sure I ever really saved that much by going there. There are plenty of flooring shops much closer, and I'd be glad to spend a bit more to be treated with basic human decency. read more

I went twice and never had one person offer to help me u til I stared at one after I had my tile on the cart & needed to know what I needed for mortar & grout. Ryan Maynard, is an excellent designer, and here is why. Additionally, I must give honorable mention to Max, the tile guy for pairing us up. Our home, about a month ago, was literally destroyed by our previous contractor. This left us to have to redesign our entire 100 year old home in historic Avondale. My better half and I went round and round, struggling to come up with a unified modern/historic design. So, we decided to enlist the help of one of the designers at Floor & Decor. Ryan was refereed to us by Max so we made our appointment. Ryan came in, on his day off. Remember, these design services are not charged separately, so big kudos right there. He came in and was able to listen to BOTH of us and bring his spin to the design table. Ryan was even able to provide assistance to our new General Contractor who was also at the appointment. After a couple of hours idea tossing we had our design., leaving Floor & Decor we felt like were finally on the path salvation. Ryan, thank you. You make a difference, and your humble doing it. Very accommodating staff. Very knowledgeable and friendly and helpful. Sometimes the younger staff at the register are a bit distracted by one another, but otherwise even they know a thing or two about flooring. AND the stuff you'll need that might not be in your cart. They lost one star because they sometime sell expired stuff. Like vapor barrier. And then they assure you that it's fine and not a problem. And then it doesn't work fine and IS a big problem. And they don't have anything in stock that isn't expired except something that is more than $100 more. And they make you pay the difference because you opened the original container and thus broke the return policy. But they will refund you and give you another container of the expired stuff for free! So that's what I mean by accommodating. Go there for actual quality flooring at a decent price. Unless you're lazy and go to Home Depot (in which case I'm judging you for not understanding the importance of price shopping). read more

We walked in to buy tile for a remodel. We were directed to various locations in the store. We're told by some they couldn't help because it wasn't their area. Pushed from one person to the next. Getting frustrated, we were then directed to the back loading desk where a female worker looked up at us, then looked down. No acknowledgement, we were in her way of sitting down not doing anything. At that point we were done so my husband had to say something to get her attention. Then JOE, yes Joe from the loading dock came up. Told us he would take care of us. We shared that we were trying to get an order in place to pick up in the back. He said "I'm here to help and won't leave you". He walked us around the store, helped us with the tile, grout, thin-set, etc. told us what to do, where to go and helped us to ensure we got the right amount of everything. He took a few minutes out of his day to come from behind the loading dock and help us. We spent several thousand because of him. Joe was awesome!! Take notes other employees!!! read more

They never had enough of the floor we wanted to do our home in and they charge to much for a sample to take home. This place is huge and has a huge selection of all things floor and bathroom decorating. I was not impressed with the Wal-Mart style checkout situation though. Of the 4 checkout lanes only 1 was open even though there were at least 4 cashiers at the front, and she didn't know how to process a personal check for payment. However, there was a great rep who helped us load all 25 boxes of tile into our truck. The prices were very competitive for what we needed and there is plenty of styles and materials to choose from. read more

Plus he took an extra 30 minutes after to do extra demonstrations with the particular brand of flooring that I had purchased. I was helped out by two employees (cant remember their names), but they worked tirelessly to make sure exactly what i wanted was in stock and double checking when they didnt think it was. They verified my sq footage calculations and helped load it into my car. Prices and customer service destroys Lowes or Home Depot. These two were very knowledgeable about tile and what grout adhesive and sealant to use which you definitely will not find at the other big box stores, if you can even find someone who cares enough to help you at all. I dont give it 5 stars because, while the selection is great, the ease in selecting some products are not. Some dont have opened boxes so you can verify the tiles are not broken before driving miles and miles back home only to have to return them. read more

We had a very negative experience here. The first staff person was polite but did not know what cement tile was. The second staff person did but would talk to my boyfriend and not to me. Pretty sure I make all the design choices in our home. He also said a rude comment to me that he would never tell a male costumer. The employee was also using chew on the floor which I found incredibly unprofessional. We hoped to use them for our shower pan and wall tile even if they didn't have the cement tiles for our floor. There are complete displays and samples of their offerings and products throughout the store which I really appreciate. I like being able to touch, feel and envision the samples in my space. The tile selection is great but don't let them load it in back for you they have no interest in doing a good job they pack in broken tiles and they put uneducated,as in new to driving a forklift, people to load your truck just repeatedly shoving the tile and rocking your truck even after you tell them to stop they act like you didn't say anything, when I complained I had already broken tile on the pallet the guy said "didn't you account for the 10%," I don't know about you but I don't expect to PAY THEM FOR MY ORDER TO BE 10% BROKEN TILE, the 10% is overage for extra cuts and tiles YOU break, I got them to take it off my truck and bought tile elsewhere after my complaint about the broken tile to the "Putin," guy back there went thru his ears. Zero care for your vehicle or for what they give you cause they wanna load you with their crap tile not the good stuff on display. read more

A terrific selection of ceramic and vinyl tile. BUT, they do not provide installation services, so unless yr a do it yourselfer, you're out of luck trying to find a contractor. They refer people to "Installation Made Easy" (in Vermont)which provided total disappointment .They sub out your particular project to people that want to make a quick buck, sometimes no call backs at all....and THEN, they gave my cell # to some outfit in the NW and I rec'd numerous calls, none of whom had an accurate idea of what I needed. Here's my survey review for "Installation Made Easy" on their site: "Flooring made easy is anything BUT easy. I described my project for a new kitchen floor which required a small repair in the wood sub-floor. NO ONE was willing to do a repair and I was further passed along to another 'umbrella' service such as yours that called me at least 10 times !! I am particularly angry about that . I intend to say all this on YELP to be sure. I cannot imagine that every floor project does NOT have some repairs that need to be done before applying a new floor. These contractors are totally in for the 'quick fix'-pushing the 'deluxe vinyl planks which may be an easy installation, but are also vulnerable to water in a kitchen no matter what they profess." F&D....you need to either provide contractor names or get out of the way. I found great tile at Lowe's and an installer on craigslist/Jacksonville !! read more
