I'm about to renovate my house so I decided to stop by here. I was greeted by a guy named Andre, I actually think he may be the manager. Let me start by saying his customer service was amazing and he really seemed to be familiar with the products. I literally had a thousand questions and he answered every one of them. He also gave me a few different options for my budget and showed me some in store samples too. It was his professionalism that blew me away, that alone set this apart from some of my other floor shopping experiences. I've been to a few different flooring stores, researching and trying to find the best deal, & it's safe to say Andre has earned my business. See below for the TLDR version We have done business with this contractor before to change the carpet out in a few bedrooms. Those transactions were rather painless. Recently, we decided to replace the majority of the floor with tile in our home and while FFL was not the cheapest, given our history and proximity of the store we decided to hire them again. One point that I'm sure the company will respond to (you'll see why later) is that they require payment in full before starting the work. It's even in their contract. While I did pay them prior to beginning the work, I never signed that part of the contract nor did I verbally agree to it. In fact, their sales clerk suggested paying with a credit card for the very reason you will see later. Any way, the whole bid was for little over $10k so not a small amount. I paid $5k by check, in good faith, and used my AMEX for the balance, again, as recommended by the sales clerk. The work was set to begin on July 28th and on July 31st the crew packed up and left. The floors were left a little dirty, or so I thought, and the thresholds (where the carpet met the tile) were left unfinished. At the time, I wasn't concerned about the dirt because I thought it would clean up after a good moping. (See pictures). After a couple of attempts to clean the floor with no success I began calling the sales clerk the next day, August 1st, seeking to get a the job completed. I didn't think this would be a big deal, after all, we were talking about stretching some carpet and cleaning leftover cement off the floor. Fast forward to August 6th. A full week since the work began and I haven't heard from anyone at the company about coming back to finish the job despite numerous calls and text messages with the sales clerk. Now I am left with little choice and need to apply more pressure to get attention. So I called up the credit card company and filed a dispute against the charge for failure to complete the work. All of a sudden I get voicemails from the owner (Kurt) and head installer (Jeff) and one other gentleman (Tim) who I don't really know what is role is. I asked Joel (the sales guy) what these people's roles were and started at the bottom. I called Jeff back. Jeff was polite, said it really wasn't his fault that no one got back with me because the person in charge of the scheduling quit as though that excuses a week of being ignored. Never the less, the next day a person showed up and stretched the carpet to fix the thresholds and it was good to have that done. I spoke with Jeff (instillation manager) that evening. He said carpet stretcher guy couldn't clean up the cement marks and he would send someone else. I told him the weekend would not be be good for our schedule but if he could could check their schedule, we would be glad to get something scheduled for early the following week. By Monday August 10th I hadn't head from Jeff to schedule. So I called Tim and spoke to him. He said he would pass on my concerns. By the end of the day, I still haven't been contacted and so I called up the owner of the company, Kurt. This is where things really went off the rails. Due to my conversations with the owner, I came to the conclusion that this company has a terrible culture. Over a couple of calls, Kurt said many things. Most notably: "I own the company but I don't do much." "I'll talk to my customers however I want." And when I told him his company had done the floors in 90+% of my house, his response was "time to buy a new house." I wasn't looking for gratitude in being a return customer or special treatment. Only pointing out that I really shouldn't have to fight this hard to get the job completed. Right now as I type this extremely long testimonial, there are 2 people at my house attempting to clean the floor up. At this point though, the failure to handle a simple punch list, the way it was handled, and how I was talked to by the owner of the company is completely disgusting. It is clear this company doesn't care about customer service, doing good work, or even completing jobs they are hired for. You'd do well to find another provider. TLDR version: don't waste your time. It's clear that the owner doesn't care about his customers or reputation and if the owner doesn't care, none of his employees will and it will show in their work. Find someone else. read more

Aweful experience so far. The floor sample they showed in the store and allowed me to bring home is nothing like the floor they partially installed. It constitutes misrepresentation not typical variance as they are claiming. The salesman has been trying to help and took photos of the floor sample from 8 stores none of which feature the dark brown boards. Customer service is not helping. DON'T buy your floor here. Installers were sloppy leaving glue on my front doors, a pile of sawdust on my lawn, their lunch wrappers on my front porch, and a wet rag on a family antique table. I've filed a dispute with the credit card company for the second half of the bill. They required 1/2 the money when you sign the sales agreement and the other half 5 days before installation. They didn't have enough product to lay all the flooring and I am not allowing them to continue to install this grossly misrepresented flooring product. A one star rating is generous with the exception of the salesman who has tried to resolve but reportedly the Vice President of Customer Service is refusing to help. I have a hard time writing this review, because I'm still so exhausted by the process of getting our flooring. My husband and I were looking for very modern-looking floors on a budget -- not easy to do, especially in suburban Houston. Many of the problems with our installation were not directly within their control, but ultimately we had a bad experience with service that led to beautiful floors that we love. We bought a new house that we wanted to renovate. New kitchen, new floors, new paint. We lined up countertops and had them installed in under a week. We lined up a painter and had our entire house painted in 3 days. We wanted to get our carpet and linoleum floors replaced before we moved in to minimize the amount of cleaning and furniture moving that we'd need to do. We were willing to stay in our rental for up to a month while we did renovation on the new house. I'll start by talking about our first experience in the showroom. I walked in, looked at the selection of flooring and wanted to leave. They did have an extremely expansive selection of flooring, but none of it was really what we were looking for. We wanted high polish, dark floors without hand-scraping, and that's simply not what's popular right now. My husband spoke with the sales team at the showroom and found some options for us. We had already found some flooring we liked online and at Floor & Decor, but Floors for Living is extremely particular about the materials that they will cover with their warranty, so those were not an option. Ultimately, we decided to hire Floors for Living because of the warranty and the ability to finance at 0% for 18 months. Always a bonus. We found a laminate that we liked, they came to take measurements of the house, quoted us a price that was more or less in line with the other quotes we received, and scheduled a date for installation. The tile was going to have to wait, because their crews weren't available for another 6 weeks. We were pretty content. Then, everything went sideways. Due to either the incompetence of sales staff, or FFL's inability to properly manage their supplier relationships, we had to select new flooring on not one, but two occasions and our installation date got pushed back a full month, which meant that we had to move into the house before the floors were done. The ordering and supplier issues ended up costing us an additional $2500, because we lacked available options at our original price point. Eventually, we ended up with a bamboo, not a laminate -- again, not ideal because we have pets and wanted something sturdier. Installation went more or less as planned -- all of the workers were polite and conscientious. There were some issues with clean-up, and our floors were already scratched in a couple of places before we even had a chance to walk on or clean them because they dragged our shop vac around the floors to suck up some of the dust in a couple of places. Imagine buying a car and having the dealer deliver it to you and then key it on their way out. That's what this felt like. The contractors parked their van in the street in front of our driveway, and because it was leaking oil our street now looks like a dalmation and we'll have to clean that up as well. Needless to say this has left a pretty terrible first impression of us for our neighbors now. I will say that I felt like I had to be demanding because of lack of quality control on their part throughout the transaction and installation. I'm sure they never want to hear from us again, and the most satisfying part of this process is knowing that it's over (we hope we never have to go back to get warranty work). Our floors are lovely, and despite assurances that we got a "steal" on the price, I still feel like we were taken advantage of throughout the entire transaction. We spoke with so many people at FFL, including the owner, Kurt, who called us after the installation was mostly complete. They were communicative and responded quickly to our requests. They were professional and polite, we just simply weren't getting the results that we wanted. This whole thing felt like a case study for Murphy's Law, and sometimes that's the way it goes. We just replaced our entire upstairs carpet with hardwoods from Floors for Living as well as our downstairs bedroom (approx. 1,300 sq ft total). The entire process was extremely easy! Once we selected the floor it was only a couple of weeks later that they showed up to install it at the time they said they would. They did an amazing job and finished in just 3 days (we had been told up to 5)! They did beautiful work and the 0 interest financing after a down payment was great! I was tired of getting carpet cleaned and wanted to switch to hard surface for flooring throughout my condo. Tim at Floors For Living at Meyerland store showed me options and even brought samples to my condo to match best color of flooring to blend with my furniture. Installation was scheduled in a few weeks. The work crew arrived when scheduled and went to work right away. They finished sooner than I was originally told. We needed to replace all of our carpeting and went to a few flooring stores in the Houston area to compare. Our entire experience with Tim and everyone at the Meyerland Floors for Living location was pleasant and informative. They showed us our options without pressuring us into buying things we didn't need or weren't interested in. They were very clear about what the cost should be and how they calculate how much carpeting will be used. Some of their competitors wouldn't even willingly tell us the price per square foot of the product we were looking it! They were right on time to arrive at our house and take the measurements. They double-checked the calculations with me to ensure everything was correct (it was). The carpeting arrived exactly when Tim said it would and the installation was great: his crew of three arrived exactly when expected and replaced almost 1,200 square feet of carpeting in 6 hours. And it looks great! We shouldn't need new carpeting for quite some time, but I'll go back to them when that time comes. read more

I went to Floors for Living and they were able to give me a Total Price that included everything and no Extras or Hidden Cost. Also, there Lifetime Installation Warranty give me peace of mind.
