I found her when searching on the website StyleSeat, where she has a profile. I also found her Instagram while searching Salon 300 West on the app. I was impressed by the pictures she had of past hair she has done and, so, I gave the salon a call. First, I am really pleased that she took my friend and I for hair cuts the evening right before Christmas Eve on such short notice. I called about 4 hours before the appointment time. Then, we get there and we learn she is one of two stylists that are still there. That shows dedication to her profession. True commitment to getting her name out there and building a strong client base. I really love my hair cut. We took off about four inches or so and she also cleaned up my growing-out undershave. She was a wonderful listener about what I wanted and what I disliked (like not using razor shears on my hair, which is a request that so many stylists have completely ignored and used them anyway). She was also very helpful in fine-tuning the details to make this cut something that worked well with my natural wavy texture. That really took my experience to the next level. My friend's cut was equally wonderful. As for the salon itself, it is well decorated with cute (and cheesy) quotes on the walls. But I love the style of the place. I can't speak for how loud/busy/organized it may be during peak times, but I know that when it was just us and Claudia, it seemed like a neat place with a lovely atmosphere. Oh, and when we were leaving, a walk-in had come in and asked if she could get a trim. Claudia even took her! I think she's a really hard-working lady and you'd be amiss not to give her a shot!

What I think I've determined about this salon is that it is a location with hair stylists operating individually and renting a chair (this is the vibe I got), so I feel that giving less stars is not helpful for the others operating out of this location. I'm a travel nurse and just took a job an hour away from Greenville, but decided it would be worth a day trip into a bigger city for someone with good experience to do my hair (since I'm new to the area I really only have reviews and photos to go on). I called on a Friday to make an appointment for Saturday and a woman answered the phone. I had done research on the salon and wanted a specific person based on photos I'd seen. That person was unavailable but the woman who answered said that she had availability. I told her I'd think about it and left my number for the other person to call me back. I then got a text from that woman, her name was Sunny, with a link to her instagram and again emphasizing her availability on Saturday. After looking at her work, I decided to make an appt so I called back and booked with Sunny. Remember when I said I live an hour away? Well, about 30 min into my drive I got a TEXT from Sunny canceling... 1 I don't look at my texts while driving and 2 I was already en route so I didnt know it was canceled til I arrived in Greenville. Granted, she said she didn't feel well apparently from something she ate the night before.. the optimist in me really wants to think she was telling the truth so I'm trying not to feel upset, but it was just extremely annoying that I had even asked for a different stylist/colorist yet she emphasized availability and sent me her intragram portfolio as a gesture of really wanting my business and then threw it out the door... I guess in the end, this is a review for Sunny. If you book with her, just beware, she may cancel on you.

The girl doing my hair was very nice but had trouble working with my uncomplicated straight/wavy hair. She tried to put barrel curls into it, and despite what I had told her about needing to put more product, the curls were gone by the time I walked to the car. However, as soon as a stylist walked in she immediately started talking negative about the owner. Something about a new top system. Not only was that so un - professional . She announced that she planned on opening her own commission salon. Then she was not very nice to Elizabeth which made me never want to return to the salon. If this was my salon. I'd want the owner to know. She mentioned out loud that since Liz started that they have had problems receiving tips. I felt horrible for Liz like she had caused the salon a huge problem and that the stylist was not welcoming to Liz at all. Again if this was my salon I'd want someone to know. I booked directly with a student over a month ago for a full highlight service and had the appointment confirmed by her. Leading up to the appointment I checked in with her asking for an estimate on how long my appointment would take. She responded with a time estimate and I responded back. That was our last interaction over text before my appointment. Fast forward to the day of my appointment I arrive and am being checked in by a front desk lady who asked for my name and who I was there to see. She was confused and told me that my name was not on the list for today. I told her who I booked with and that I confirmed this date with her around a month ago and even checked in with her this past week regarding the time it would take to get my hair done at my upcoming appointment. Then the front desk lady says that she was told (by someone idk who) that I called and canceled my appointment yesterday. I was then confused myself and told her that I had been planning to come today and didn't cancel with anyone. At this point in the conversation the stylist who was supposed to do my hair finally acknowledged me and came over to ask for my name. I told her my name and after about 30 seconds of her looking at her phone she said that "she mis scheduled me". I told her that I might be able to work around it and asked for when she put me down for. Ultimately the date she put me down for on her calendar was not going to work for me and neither her or the front desk lady offered to set up another appointment time with me. They were apologetic but also kind of dismissive about it. Im just left confused as to how the front desk lady said I called and cancelled my appointment but then the student who was supposed to do my hair said she mis scheduled me. Those two things don't align. Anyways. To anyone booking directly with a student at Alexander Paul, I would probably call the salon after booking through text message with your stylist to prevent any confusion and double check that you are in fact in their system for the date you have an appointment with them.
