I got a hair cut here with Claudia (there are two stylists named Claudia at Salon 300 West, this particular Claudia is fairly young). I found her when searching on the website StyleSeat, where she has a profile. I also found her Instagram while searching Salon 300 West on the app. I was impressed by the pictures she had of past hair she has done and, so, I gave the salon a call. First, I am really pleased that she took my friend and I for hair cuts the evening right before Christmas Eve on such short notice. I called about 4 hours before the appointment time. Then, we get there and we learn she is one of two stylists that are still there. That shows dedication to her profession. True commitment to getting her name out there and building a strong client base. I really love my hair cut. We took off about four inches or so and she also cleaned up my growing-out undershave. She was a wonderful listener about what I wanted and what I disliked (like not using razor shears on my hair, which is a request that so many stylists have completely ignored and used them anyway). She was also very helpful in fine-tuning the details to make this cut something that worked well with my natural wavy texture. That really took my experience to the next level. My friend's cut was equally wonderful. As for the salon itself, it is well decorated with cute (and cheesy) quotes on the walls. But I love the style of the place. I can't speak for how loud/busy/organized it may be during peak times, but I know that when it was just us and Claudia, it seemed like a neat place with a lovely atmosphere. Oh, and when we were leaving, a walk-in had come in and asked if she could get a trim. Claudia even took her! I'm giving three stars because I don't want to completely ruin the salons rating for one person, otherwise I'd give 1. What I think I've determined about this salon is that it is a location with hair stylists operating individually and renting a chair (this is the vibe I got), so I feel that giving less stars is not helpful for the others operating out of this location. I'm a travel nurse and just took a job an hour away from Greenville, but decided it would be worth a day trip into a bigger city for someone with good experience to do my hair (since I'm new to the area I really only have reviews and photos to go on). I called on a Friday to make an appointment for Saturday and a woman answered the phone. I had done research on the salon and wanted a specific person based on photos I'd seen. That person was unavailable but the woman who answered said that she had availability. I told her I'd think about it and left my number for the other person to call me back. I then got a text from that woman, her name was Sunny, with a link to her instagram and again emphasizing her availability on Saturday. After looking at her work, I decided to make an appt so I called back and booked with Sunny. Remember when I said I live an hour away? Well, about 30 min into my drive I got a TEXT from Sunny canceling... 1 I don't look at my texts while driving and 2 I was already en route so I didnt know it was canceled til I arrived in Greenville. Granted, she said she didn't feel well apparently from something she ate the night before.. the optimist in me really wants to think she was telling the truth so I'm trying not to feel upset, but it was just extremely annoying that I had even asked for a different stylist/colorist yet she emphasized availability and sent me her intragram portfolio as a gesture of really wanting my business and then threw it out the door... I guess in the end, this is a review for Sunny. If you book with her, just beware, she may cancel on you. read more

This review is specifically reviewing a boy that goes by the name Chris Yates. Known as "hairbychrissy" on Instagram. I had gorgeous long, healthy dark (basically black) hair. I had multiple consultations with Chris saying I was ready to go back to more of my natural color which is blonde. I spent 12 years plus growing out my long hair which was my biggest accessory. Hair as we all know is a woman's favorite thing. It's extremely important. To make a VERY long story short he absolutely ruined my hair. And I do not mean a few pieces. My ENTIRE head of hair is fried. Beyond damaged. Nothing that the most expensive product line can now fix. He was confident convincing me he could get me to Barbie blonde in one or two sessions. I am not a hair professional, therefore it was his job and responsibility being educated to turn me away if he felt even the slightest bit apprehensive about this job. I trusted him. My hair has now fried off and I have to cut it to neck length. My hair was down to my bottom. He charged me $740 in which I only got some of that back. I pray the owner also see's this review so he is aware of the awful hellacious experience I have had here. I will now have to spend more money to try and make my head look somewhat normal as well as years trying to grow it back. I am disgusted by what happened. Chris is not a professional. He is 21 years old with little experience come to find out. He did a great job selling himself and his knowledge on hair. Even my husband was convinced. NEVER GO TO CHRIS!!!!! She successfully removed a wide mix of fashion colors I'd previously had done, brought my hair up to a lovely ash blonde, and added some subtle pastels. I know that there's more than one way to skin a cat... it appears that one of those ways is hot wax. OUCHY! I really wanted to give this place a high rating, and the gal who did the waxing was nice and friendly. I don't think she has much experience with what I was asking for... it's a small town, conservative, you know. Anyway, I think she should have been straight up with me about the lack of experience rather than just experimenting on me. She did a lot of things wrong, but I tried to just trust her because she's supposed to have studied this sort of thing and I know people sometimes just do things different ways. In the end, she really hurt me, drew blood, and the final result was unfixable. I thought that I'd at least be able to rely on her for a good leg wax, but then she totally skipped the knees. Anyway, I felt a little bad for her, she started to get really nervous and embarrassed as she kept messing up and then had to admit that she really didn't know what she was doing. She did knock $30 off the price, but to be totally honest, I think she should have dropped it far more than that -- when it comes to a wax, a bad job is worse than no job at all. I know this place is good for some things, but I just can't recommend it for waxing. +1 star because the gal has a nice personality. read more

On November 1st I scheduled with Danyel Bennett to get my hair and makeup done for the Marine Corp Ball. I have rather long hair (base of my back) and she worked a miracle getting it all pulled up and pinned securely. The airbrush makeup application was beautiful and lasted through the entire day and well into the next, even with dancing all evening. I can't remember the exact name of the mascara she uses, but i think it's younique (sp?), it naturally curled, lifted and elongated my eyelashes, but still washed off relatively easy! I have fairly sensitive skin and I had zero irritation or breakouts from her makeup. Danyel was very cognizant of keeping her makeup clean and using disposable applicators when applying her makeup... a HUGE plus. I was there this morning to see patty and left very happy and was happy until just now went I went to fix my hair to go out and run errands. When I saw my hair in the salon I thought it looked great but that's only because she covered up her mistakes with how she styled my hair. My part started in its normal place but she curved it towards the middle of my hair which I thought was weird and when I changed the part I saw why she had done that. there was almost 1/4 an inch of undyed hair. 1/4 doesn't sound like a lot but I went from a dark brown to a light blonde and it stuck out like a sore thumb. Also when I changed my part the highlights were INSANELY chunky, like early 2000s chunky (which is tacky and should have been left in the early 2000s) and at the bottom of my head there's a bunch of dark brown then one huge chunk of blonde. my hair looks like a zebra. These highlights are so uneven and she bleached it so much that I had breakage so I can't even go somewhere else in the near future to get it fixed. When I do go to get it fixed I'm definitely not coming back here. I even texted her before the appointment and said "I understand my hair is dark so if getting my hair that light isn't possible then I totally understand" so there was no excuse for her to bleach my hair to the point of breakage. Very disappointed. This isn't really that big of a deal but she didn't even style my hair well either. I have naturally curly hair and she only straightened the top half of my head. Who today doesn't know to section hair off? She was either rushing through the process and being careless (she kept talking about how packed her day was) or truly didn't know how to do what she was doing. read more

If I could put zero stars, I would. I got my haircut here a couple years ago on my birthday and it was the worst haircut I've ever gotten in my life. It looked good while I was there and then I went home and took a shower and did my normal styling. The back wasn't a straight cut at all. It looked like you could roll a ball down a hill, that's how lopsided it was. There was a huge chunk of bangs that weren't cut at all and it was the owner who cut my hair! I ended up crying hysterically because it was my birthday and my hair looked atrocious. I went to the mall to have it fixed and the lady felt so bad for me that she did it for free. That's how bad it was. To top it off, the people that work there (or at least when I was there) were snotty and had attitudes. I usually only post good reviews to places but I don't want people to have the same thing happen to them! read more

Had a horrible experience. Wanted 2 in cut to trim dead ends- 6 in taken off. Paid $90 for a perm. Over processed, neutralizer not rinsed out left me with some curls when wet but dry frizzy hair. read more

I had Chelsea. She was really sweet and the place was great. This was my first time getting my hair done? Unfortunately, I was told within one sitting I would be able to get my hair a silver color. Me, not knowing how the lightening process worked, expected to walk out the salon with silver hair. She also did not tell me upfront what to expect, that most likely I would come out more gold. I would love to have been more educated in the beginning, or have scheduled a hair consultation beforehand. I felt pretty disappointed in her not letting me know before starting the whole process. That would have changed my decision whether or not to go ahead and lighten my hair. (I am inclined to think she did not have any experience to know whether or not the bleach would've worked on my hair) read more

I donated 10 inches and was nervous about the new look but she made it look exactly like the pictures I brought in. She was friendly but didn't ask me a million questions which I appreciated. Absolutely mind blown at how amazing Corri Hill was at doing my hair and makeup for my wedding event. I had a traditional Indian ceremony with full on Indian clothing and hair pieces, all of which she figured out how to work and put into my hair by doing independent research for me. She is incredibly receptive to feedback and will not stop until you're totally happy. My makeup was perfection and she uses an airbrush and color matches your features perfectly, she made my very stubborn hair look perfect (and I was being very picky). The photos look amazing, I will never go to anyone else for special events and will refer her to anyone who needs a hair and makeup professional. She spent three hours with me to do a trial and came totally prepared to the event venue with all the colors we decided on. More than anything she is very sweet and kind and overall a genuinely good person, I needed someone like that with me in such a high stress situation.
