Sunday Funday dinner at Flores! My first time here. Our party of 8 was immediately seated near the bar around 7:30 PM. Service was attentive and food & drinks flowed quickly. I ordered Ganzo's Plate. I enjoyed the queso chip & taco. The enchilada gravy is tasty. I was not a big fan of the Mexican rice here and the charro beans lack flavor despite having a lot going on in them. Suitable for a tourist palate though! I'll be back again and will just stick to à la carte items or menu items that don't include the rice & beans. read more

We moved into the dripping springs area 3 months ago and have been here 4 times , each time there were problems with food, our order, getting drink refills etc. we said we're never going back , today we didn't want to go far so ... we tried it again just in case! We should of listened to ourselves, the queso was ok, only ate less than 1/3 had no chips , as usual queso was cold by time we got chips, the nachos were the WORST we've ever had ... burnt ! We each had taco , it was just ok. But the kicker was I ordered two enchiladas to go an here they come in a styrofoam to go box the sauce like water. How did they expect them to be hot when I got home to our guest? Our usual Mexican food rest. usually puts them in aluminum type to go container and cooks it in oven so it stays hot , needless to say they went in the trash, when we got home! WE HAVE ISSUES EVERY TIME WE'VE GONE THERE ! Save your money , go to Chuy's or somewhere else. We called in a To Go order. All I ordered was a taco salad with double dressing on the side. They didn't include the dressing, so I got home and had to eat a dry salad. Seriously, it's a salad, and you leave out the dressing?!?!? That's inexcusable. I paid extra for chicken fajita meat on it, and it was dry, especially so without any dressing. The salsa was super watery, and so were the flavorless black beans. For an expensive salad, I expected more. We stopped eating here awhile back because it's always super noisy, and the service was so slow. Previous To Go orders have been okay, but I guess those have gone downhill now as well. Stopped on our way back from wine country and had an early dinner. This is a large restaurant, but seemed to have plenty of staff and worked well for both families and couples. I didn't write the review while we were there, so I can't remember the specifics, but we all enjoyed what we had and we were even able to bring some leftovers home. read more

It's the new year (January 6, 2024), and I felt it was time to give this restaurant a retry and see if the experience was better. The restaurant has not added any updates to their decor, but you still get the mexican food vibe when you enter. We were seated and immediately greeted by our server who took our margarita drink orders. The house margaritas, whether on the rocks or frozen, were very good. For this visit we tried the shredded chicken enchiladas with queso and the shrimp del mar plate. We thought the meals were very delicious, the only drawback on the shrimp plate was that it was so juicy that the tortillas fell apart - not a very bad thing at all. Overall I thought the dining experience was good, and know that we will be back again. While there are a few mexican restaurants around, this one is very convenient in Dripping Springs. I have to say I haven't lived here very long but this is one of the first restaurants I found when coming to the area. You got to be careful with the chips they're so good it'll definitely ruin your diet. All the classic Tex-Mex dishes are off the charts with some of my favorites being chile rellenos and carne asada. We love the ambience and the outside patio and the interior decor. They really put a lot into making this place special and is to the test of time being one of the many locations in the area. this is a newish, very large and very nice restaurant in the area. would be a good place for groups or families. prices are a little on the higher side so we decided to try it out at lunch time to take advantage of the specials. i've tried a few other mexican restaurants in the area and i preferred the food at flores. the food was good, but nothing really stood out as great. we had to ask for chips and salsa and they took awhile to arrive. we also had to wait quite awhile to order and get our food. could be a problem for diners who are on their lunch hour. staffing shortages are rampant in restaurants, so that could have been the problem. id try it again next time im in the area. read more

This was my second visit to the Flores sit-down restaurant, the first coming just after I moved here in 2017. I am a regular patron of their breakfast and lunch shack and am a big fan of those gob-smacking breakfast burritos. The first trip to the regular restaurant was not memorable, so I'd not been back until recently and I'd refrained from reviewing it with just that one visit under my belt. Oh well. This visit was not memorable either. Several things stand out about the venue and ambience. It is cliche Mexican restaurant decor. Not snappy - just overdone. And it is LOUD. This was a Wednesday dinner, but the place was very busy and extremely noisy. However, it is incredibly efficient. Watching the comings and goings of staff and the glimpses into the kitchen at the line -- it's like watching the pistons in an engine. Service was prompt and cordial. Stuff came out quickly and hot. Compliments on the organizational ability behind the system. Food. Both a mixed bag and disappointing . My partner had the two shredded beef tacos and found them far too salty, so she didn't finish and didn't get a take home box. I tried the Anita's Mole, a grilled chicken breast with a thick covering of mole. Now, mole is hard to pull off. It can very easily be too sweet and chocolatety or unpleasantly dense in cocoa. Flores' is really pretty good. A nice balance that comes off as home made. The waitress informed me that you can sub in any of their sauces on any dish. So, when I go back, whatever I order is going to have that mole. Grilled chicken breast is grilled chicken breast, a vehicle for whatever sauce or treatment you choose. Their mole is a good choice. The sides were a major disappointment. The Spanish rice was near inedible, lacking in spice and less than ordinary. You get, for most dishes, a choice of beans. I picked refried. Again, well below spectacular. I don't think they were canned, but they tasted like it. I'm of mixed minds about trying Flores again. There are other good Mexican restaurants in the vicinity - Verdes or El Jardin for two. But I do wish Flores well. I just hope they do something about those after-thought side dishes. read more

Not authentic at all. Lacks flavor, rice is dry and hard. Most staff are rude and disrespectful. I will not recommend this place to anyone.

I swore I would never go back after my first experience here, but my friends convinced me to go with them. I will say that their loaded queso is excellent, their drinks are strong and delicious and the staff have improved their attitudes. I've been a few times and will still go, mostly for drinks and apps because I didn't find the mail courses to be good at all. The chicken soup is also pretty good. I like the ear of corn in it. I felt I needed to update my review since I have eaten here many times since my last review. I believe it's been almost 5 years. In that time period, I have had several interesting things happen to me at this restaurant. First, I noticed when I paid with a CC, there was always an extra 1 to 2 cents more difference from what my receipt said and what was billed? I guess if you do this on every customer it could add up. After the third or fourth time, I told myself that if it happened again I would confront mgmt., but it stopped. Secondly, during/post pandemic, they went paperless. Okay not a problem....until it is. One specific waiter would just tell you what your bill is and we would pay it. First time or two, I thought the bill was a little high after doing the math in my head, so the next time I did the math and knew what it should cost and he told me the price and it was 20% higher than it should have been. So I asked to see the receipt and he said he would have to go print it. When he came back with the receipt, it of course was 20% less and correct. I figured what he was doing was adding his own tip to the supposed bill, then you would just see the total dollar amount and then add the tip. What a scam. Needless to say I have not been back, or plan to go back. read more

Gawd..... My friend and I went for lunch, but it was after the lunch rush. Approximately 2pm. We both ordered the chicken fajita tacos which came with rice and beans. I got refried and my friend got black bean. The rice was barely warm. I think the canned Rosarita refried beans taste better than what I was served. Oh, and it was cold. The black beans had NO seasoning/flavor. The chicken DEFINITELY WAS NOT freshly cooked. It was really dry. My friend said her chicken stabbed her in her mouth. It was precooked and thrown on the grill to reheat it. For $9.99 it was one small taco, small portion of cold rice and beans. It took soooo long to get our food. The only reason I'm giving this one star is because the service is almost good. I say almost good because they never came to check on us to see if everything was good. The food here is completely inedible. The shredded beef is so greasy it's disgusting. The cheese, tomato, ranch dressing have absolutely no flavor. My wife's meal was equally inedible. We finished our drinks and left. I don't know how a place like this manages to stay in business. I don't think Gordon Ramsey could save this restaurant. It's beyond horrible. read more

I've been coming to Flores since I was 8 years old. The best part of Flores is that in the 1000 times I've been there it is always the same. The service is great especially when sitting at the bar. My only critique is the drinks are a little pricy compared to the rest of the restaurant. read more

Flores is our go to Mexican restaurant in the area. The food is always great and the service and atmosphere is wonderful. If you order to go they give you chips and salsa with your bag and it's always ready in under 15 minutes. read more

Great place for a group! We went for lunch on a Saturday with our car club. (Most of our members are cranky old people). Our waiter took food and drink orders, with multiple additions and substitutions, for a party of 12 didn't write a single thing down and everything came out perfect! Zero error! Now that's impressive. Everything was very good and food arrived to the table super fast. I have posted photos. Didn't get a lot of food pics. Except for mine and my husbands. Ci Ci say, si NO MO! Was warned by many of this old worn out food establishment over and over and I did it and went back. Not totally surprised again, but found a loooong hair in my meal. Terrible! Rotten spinach! Just tonight, Friday the 17th, we had our date night and had chosen to check out Flores. Me the fajita and she the spinach salat. The bowl of spinach that was served was 2/3 rotten....!!...and we don't exaggerate. After our complaint, where the waitress fully agreed upon seeing her salat, the waitress proposed a 2nd try/dish of spinach, no thank you, she did not want to try that, or anything else, from that kitchen again. So we kinda both ate from my plate, dinner/date night/our conversation was ruined. After wanting to check out I asked if the salat was the only thing they ware gonna deduct, a gesture from Flores to take for instance of 1 glas of coke, or the side dish of guacamole would be a friendly gesture to correct the mistake if they were truly sorry. Ordered takeout. They forgot to include charro beans in one of the orders. All food was poor quality. Tortillas in enchiladas had an earthy flavor. Same with nachos. Bean and cheese nachos had little cheese. Chicken in chicken enchiladas had a good flavor. Salsa was good and fresh and tortilla chips were good. read more

My friends that live in the area told me we had to try this restaurant. It did not dissappoint! We got there around 6PM on a Saturday, and shocked we got right in. It is a very big open room, and very loud! Lucky just 4 of us, by felt bad for the 2 big parties on either side of us, that had like 8-10 people. With those long tables, I don't think they could hear each other. Our waiter was great! He immediately, brought out chips, salsa, and waters for all. And brought us many refills of chips and salsa, as we went thru a few baskets (very good chips and salsa, good, just spicy enough). My two friends both got the pork carnitas. You can tell the tortillas were home made. My Fiancee got the burrito, and it was huge, and he asked for extra green salsa on the side...they gave a lot. I had a combo plate with cheese enchilada, tostada and taco...which came with rice and beans. OMG, when they give you the choice of beans, get the CHARRO beans...best I ever had! This is the best Mexican food place I have had since moving here last year. Just wish it was closer to us. Oh well, will visit again, when we come down to visit our friends! read more

The place was busy and although the service was great (such hard working people) but it was run down. The tables were lifting at the end, floor was slippery outside and just looked really neglected. Food was ok not bad, salsa and guac was spicy and great. They just need to take care of the place and not run the workers so hard. I hate to miss any chance to see family that doesn't live in the area. My mom had called to tell me they were going out to dinner with her brother and they wanted Tex-Mex. Sweet! Where are we going? Flores she replied. Mom, Couldn't we just go and try that sweat lodge thing in Arizona? Yep, its that bad as reflected in now the lowest possible star rating I am able to award. The servers immediately argued over seating as we wanted tables thrown together instead of cramming a party of 6 and a child in a booth. The chips that were served during the meal were greasy. Salsa was weak denoting no consistency yet again between visits. The flour tortillas bordered on cardboard in taste and texture. My mole was ok. I might have tried it later if I was offered a to-go box. I ate maybe three bites not wanting to eat to late in the day. Water glasses sat empty and we were charged $10 for a veggie quesadilla. The basic cheese was $7; but I guess since they veggies included canned mushrooms and a handful of peppers and onions that warranted the fajita price upcharge. Speaking of upcharges, how about 18% gratuity on parties of FIVE or more? I had to tell my family members to scratch the tips off their credit card receipts so our server wouldn't make a $15 tip off each of us. Thanks for trying to screw us over not just on the price and quality of the food but on the gratuity as well. She would have made nearly $50 if I wouldn't have said anything. You weren't even close to that level of service darlin'. My son who is normally a refried bean lover wouldn't even touch Flores' tonight. My wife tasted them an almost spit them out. My dad burger ordered without mayo with extra onion was delivered with onion only. I swear there was no language barrier here; I think. Oh, and my sangria margarita was weak. The floor under the tables were riddled with leftover chips and baby food. Each time I stood up to help with my baby; my feet crunched something. This place is a complete was of your time, dollars, and space in your stomach. A celebrated family meal gone down the drain if you will. A nice half a star if I could award such a thing. Food has always been 5 Star over the 9+ years I've been going there - ate there today and the chips, salsa, queso, entre and service were great. What wasn't great were the filthy, stinky restrooms. Knocked back by the urine odor when I opened the men's restroom door. Wife said women's was just filthy. If we would have gone to the restrooms before the meal we would have walked out. read more
