This Company is a JOKE. I had to men, Roy n Kyle, and they were on time 9 am. I'm a very giving n caring person, what a mistake. While Roy is doing all the loading of my Uhaul, Kyle is loading items I had given him on MY TIME. I called Teresa at this Company, explained what had been going on with Kyle and that I think she should take an hour and she DID NOT. This 26 ft Uhaul is only 3/4 full and could have been loading in 2-1/2 hours if I had two men loading, instead of 1. I gave Roy a brand new $1000.00 couch n love seat and he loaded that when he was through loading my truck. I would not recommend this Company, but call the real Village Movers, who I thought I had. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! They cancelled the day we were to move. Never called us to tell us. Had movers scheduled between 7-7:30 AM and with no word from them, I continued to call their office until someone answered. The woman stated to me that both of their trucks are down and just states to be when I explain how angry I am, "I'm sorry you feel that way, it's not my fault!" Well I hate to tell you, but it is your fault. If your trucks are not working, someone should have called us to explain the situation and try to come up with some sort of solution. I used Florida Family Movers last week. The move was from Leesburg to Summerfield. Unfortunately, it was not a professional move. They had furniture blankets but decided not to use them. When they opened the truck, they had wood stacked on wood. Every piece of the dining room table and the 6 chairs had damage. The bedroom headboard and both side rails are damaged. We supplied photos but was told we signed and excepted .60 cents a pound for damages. I did not know I signed... I was told I was signing for the estimate of the move. Then to make matters worse both of the workers bickered with each other. I personally do not recommend this company. If you decide to use them, I would get a guarantee about how your furniture will be packed and handled. I would also question how they handle damages beforehand. read more

Do yourself a favor and get another company to move you. They did not show up the second day to complete the move. They were so late the first day in arriving it was going to take a second day. Teresa said at 9 am that she was "working on it". I called at 10.30..12..1..2..and at 3 they no longer answered or showed up. We have made several small local moves over the years and this was the smoothest. Our crew was careful with our belongings, happily placed furniture exactly how we requested, and were very pleasant. The office staff is so helpful, has great communication skills, knows the right questions to ensure an easy move. I've never used a moving company before because of the horror stories I've heard...damaged furniture, over charging once they arrive, holding your belongings until you pay higher fees. Well, nothing could be further from the truth with Florida Family Movers!!! They service the Orlando area and parts of adjoining counties. These guys were ON TIME :) and extremely fast while also being careful of my possesions. Anthony and Bruce could not have been nicer, more efficient or professional. They did my move in under the est. time and put my furniture back together at my new place. I just can't say enough good things about this company and/or its employees! Do not use them! They cancelled on me at 3 pm the day of the move. I was told they forgot the paperwork and would be back. Then told they got into an accident and had to cancel. Then was told somebody walked off the job and that's why they had to cancel. They came the next day and were extremely unprofessional. One of the movers was asking me to give him things from my garage. I told them when I called to hire them that I had a bed that needed to be taken apart. They assured me that they had tools and would bring them. They had no tools. We waited around for about 30 minutes for them to find tools, which they didn't. They then had the audacity to charge me for that half hour of time, which was their fault. I also never got my bed. They broke my dresser beyond repair. What a wonderful experience.I'm 75 and can no longer move furniture. I live in a two bedroom with Den villa . My wife wanted to swap furniture from guest room to den and den to guest room. We needed someone to move two high risers and large sofa and smaller sofa. I was leery calling anyone but feel I made a great decision. Mike and Young Taylor showed up on time.showed them what I needed. It was $149 per hour and they had the move done in twenty minutes. They told me I still had time did I need anything else moved. My wife had them move a few lamp tables and was thrilled with the experience. I bought them lunch and would ask for them again if I need to move another heavy object. read more

An update to my original review. I filed my concerns with the Better Business Bureau. Here is their reply: "We received your recent complaint. BBB relies on the cooperation of businesses in order to assist consumers in resolving marketplace disputes. Sometimes a company for whatever reason does not cooperate with BBB. This is one of those companies. Based on this information BBB is unable to assist you in resolving this matter. The two workers started out very nice. They gave an up front estimate. When they saw that they were running against time they become cowboys. Door frames are damaged in my new house and condo that I moved out of. The front door in my condo is damaged. They broke one of the glass doors in my cabinet. They used my personal equipment becasue they liked it better than theirs. Tehy used my screw driver which they took with them. I stress and warn not to use this company for any moving purpose... I requested a free online quote from Cyndi on Monday and was given a time and price of the move. I'd expressed how important this move was and the time I needed to be out of my apt. I had an appointment between 1 pm and 2 pm on Saturday... Cyndi Lydia called me at 1:56 pm on Saturday and told me we will not be able to move you today, I ask why and she gave a story that there guys are committed to there earlier appointment, I'd ask what time will they be done? She referenced after 5. I'd ask could you send them after she said no, I'd ask why? She referenced she won't pay her guys after 7pm...I was levite... I hate reviews cause every business has a bad day- but these guys did not have a bad day, they purposely over booked and left me high and dry. I called and shared it took 3 and 1/2 trucks to get me into my rental and it would take me 4 trucks to get me into my new home. I shared I have a disabled Vet (my father in law who can not help) as I'm moving my inlaws into my home. I was told no problem I would have a Truck on Fri at 9a and 2 trucks on Sat so this would get done. Fri at 1p the truck shows up- I was told there was an elderly man that had to move to a nursing facility that day- emergency move. We have you covered we will work until it is done. Sat comes- I only see 1 truck, told the other truck will come at noon, then the other truck the move they got assigned in the morning was big and they are not coming. My move is 30 min from one home to the other with 2 guys it takes 4 hours to load a truck- 30m drive there- 30 min break for food and water and 4 hour unload- used up all the time- there is a 10 hour limit So now I'm stuck on a Sat with half my home moved- having to be out by 12:30p on Mon the 30th and almost no one works Sun. Their answer- we will try to get you a truck Try- you overbooked and flat out told me an untruth 2 times, and did not book a 3 man crew for this job which was needed. I'm not cheap- I planned to spend $3k or so on the move. I ended up renting a 20ft Uhaul calling a company happy moving to rent 3 bodies from and making 3 runs with that truck and my pickup until 11:15p on Sun. Spent about the same as their 2 person crew and truck for 10 hours. And they showed up. Family Movers does not treat you like Family unless your Family hated you and ignores you. From One Vet to any others who read this- do not use them - they left a 20 year disabled Navy Vet without what we needed. It was shameful and uncalled for. read more

I have moved over 20 times with professional movers. This is the worst move I have ever experienced. They were 2 hours late, truck was not large enough for the move, they only sent two individuals for the move and damaged a new $2600.00 refrigerator (scratched and dented), broke a handle off a dresser and at 6:30 in the evening were headed back to my original home to load again, when I said no. The next day I had to find another way to finish my move. Their contract on the front clearlystates they pay $.60 per pound for the damaged item. They eventually sent me a check for $40.00. They shorted the amount just for the refrigerator by at least $180.00. The person I spoke with was very arrogant and rude. read more

WORST experience I have ever encountered! They set up my move between 1-3p a 3-bedroom/2-bath house. Arrived at 4p. This company is family Florida movers out of leesburg fl. Two movers 1-of them came in shook his head & made a statement how his "0le lady was not going to be happy that he was going to be late" obviously did not want to do the job! I didn't understand why they would set up a move when I told the gal everything I had to move between 1-3p? He then stated they got rid of her, her name was Lynette. He proceeded to go outside & call his boss. Came in & told me they couldn't move me it was too many hours ! I was upset, I had a renter coming the next day..this "boss" was a rude, and evil man! All he kept saying was nothing will make you happy! What happened to what can we do to make this work! He then proceeded to tell me they were not taking this job, the truck pulled out & he hung up on me!!!!! I am reporting them to BB & will tell everyone I know of this devastating experience! I am still stunned that a company would act this way!!! I am not sure the person was the owner, if not perhaps he should be the next one to leave the company along with the movers who obviously did not want the job..... My neighbor hired this company to move his family in across the street form me. The truck driver drove his 30 Ft. truck 25 feet into my front yard in a rain storm, rutted out 25' of my choice St. Augustine sod. I called them 5 times for someone to come and fix it. What a nightmare! We are actually considering a lawsuit against this company. They sent an untrained mover & a drunk man as his assistant. Our estimated 4 hour move turned in to a 12 hour move, the movers literally snuck out of our home without finishing & they damaged almost every piece of wood furniture we own. I work from home & they literally dropped a file cabinet, shattering it all over the driveway. They mis-assembled my desk, causing permanent damage & it can't be moved even an inch without falling apart. They also mis-assembled our bed & my already disabled husband almost fell on the floor when it came apart. We ended up moving a large portion of our own boxes, etc. because they didn't know how to pack the truck & needed to make a 2nd trip. My husband literally got in the truck & directed the unpacking process. As if all of this wasn't bad enough, their customer service is horrendous. They are ignoring every phone call, no one has responded to process a claim for damage & I am certain Cyndi, the receptionist, has been told to lie to the customers. I've been promised a phone call from "Liz" the claims processor 5 times in the past 18 days & nothing. Kerry Mihalek, the owner, refuses to speak with me about this issue. Beware of this company. It's manager, Carla, is rudest person I've ever done business with and will look to change cost on you in the middle of the move. This is a move I scheduled with Florida Family Movers to get my parents goods to an assisted living facility located 10 minutes away. Initially set up a move for Tuesday, they called and stated that they would have to cancel due to rain, understood. They told me they could reschedule for the next day, I asked if my move could be scheduled for the afternoon and they agreed. So far so good. The next day, they called to cancel the move, stating that the morning customer had misled them on the size of the move and they would not be able to complete it on time to do mine. Funny thing is that when they come in to do a move they check everything to ensure that what they were told they were going to move is what they are going to move and call the office for approval on the move. Yet, they were supposedly misled by the previous customer (first red flag). They rescheduled me for Thursday morning. Thursday morning comes and they were going to cancel stating that no one with authority was at the site, while my brother who had slept there and was there to open the door when they knocked. I arrived 15 min later. Once we finally got going, loading everything went smoothly. The two men assigned to the move were great. Once we arrived to the assisted living facility the problems began. Since, you have to pay before they unload the truck your cost may vary from what they initially told you. I was told that since they had to use the main entrance of the facility for the move instead of the back entrance that would make them take more steps than necessary and therefore they would charge for an additional two hours up front and if any of the time added was not used they would refund it (never happened). The reason for having to use the front entrance was that the facility was having the parking lot asphalt adjacent to the back entrance resurfaced. So, according to the movers manager, my scheduling the move for that day was the reason why were taking longer that usual (second red flag). Remember, this move was originally scheduled for Tuesday and because they had issues they cancelled the move twice. So, I was flexible with them two days in a row and here we are Thursday and they are telling me its my fault they are charging more for the move. Then came the topper, when I initially called looking for a mover l asked if as part of their service they would take apart the bed and wall unit and then put it back together at the new location. The response was, absolutely, not problem at all. Well, the manager now asks to speak to me and tells me that they are running behind for another move and they are not going to put together the wall unit. When I complained she said that according to the moving contract I signed in the morning they did not have to, that I should read the contract. BEWARE OF THE FINE PRINT ON THE BACK OF THE CONTRACT. One more thing, I have relayed the story of what happened that day in a civilized manner, that is not how it actually happened. The manager, Carla, is the rudest person I have dealt with in a business transaction. Whenever I would try to respond to what she had stated, she would just cut me off and speak over me. I requested she stop doing that and let me speak and she said I was being rude and I need to read the contract and then she hung up. Truly sad company. I post this to inform others about this company's unethical practices in the hope that some will be able to avoid this kind of experience. read more

First time using a moving company and had a HORRIBLE experience. Almost every single piece of furniture that was moved by Florida Family Movers was damaged. Nothing was blanket wrapped before being loaded onto the truck. My furniture was treated in the most unprofessional manner possible. Our brand new $3500 mattress was drug across the ground getting into our house and it's so damaged it's useless. The mattress along with other pieces of furniture will have to be replaced. I called while the movers were here and requested a manager come by to see what was happening and was denied that request. They then held my items hostage and said they wouldn't finish unloading my furniture until I paid them double what the estimate was. I'm now dealing with them trying to get a refund as well as damaged furniture replaced and it is a joke. Will most likely end up taking them to court. Florida Family Movers has zero integrity and is very unprofessional and doesn't care one bit about the customer or their possessions. It's a shame that they are still in business. read more

We never got a chance to use Florida Family Movers. We contacted them 4 times and never received an answer back from them. My husband called on Monday to request a quote, he spoke to a young lady who gave him an estimate. He asked her to forward the quote to us via email. She said she would. We waited hours.....the quote never came. Later in the after noon , my husband called again......a fellow told him he would forward the quote on to us.....he never did. Later that evening, my husband sent them an email RFQ......no reply. Yesterday, Wednesday.....I called....got a girl named Cindy....told her of our problem getting a quote.....she told me that she had seen the quote somewhere, she does not quote, but she would take it upon herself to get one done and out to us. It is Thursday.....near noon and we have yet to receive that quote. I do not know why.....perhaps they did not want the job.....but it would seem to me that they could have told us that and not alienate what could have been a future customer. We would never, ever consult this company in the future. I certainly hope others have not met our fate. We booked with a competitor this morning so we were serious customers who had to move. I wish better luck to others. I hope the owner or manager sees this review and finds out just went wrong. It would be great to know why we were ignored. read more

They didn't even bother to show up! They didn't call. They didn't return our calls. It wasn't a mix up. It wasn't a matter of minimum wage workers getting confused. It was the owners. They made a choice to not get our move done, then not inform us. It was an absolute disaster. When I called today, I was told that it is common for movers to just not show up. If you do business with this company, keep in mind that this is their stated norm. They made no effort to help us or rearrange another time. It's company policy: movers just don't show up. I have moved internationally, interstate, and in Florida, and this company by far takes the cake for the LEAST professionalism, if that is possible. They REFUSED to blanket-wrap my mahogany and antique (or any) furniture despite having showing me plenty of blankets on their truck. They literally dragged my brand-new mattresses on the dirt and pavements, ruining them; they cussed at me in Spanish (thinking I did not understand them) when I asked them to be more gentle with my belongings, and upon arrival, they crashed my items into a multitude of walls and even (unblieveably) trees, trashcans and anything else they were clumsy enough to walk into; their pricing was mysteriously and IMMEDIATELY HIGHER the SECOND they walked into my door over the quoted price and they were slow as snails! Our experience with Florida "MANSON" Family movers was horrible, to say the least. The guys were extremely destructive with our furniture. In filling our POD, they stacked metal furniture on a large expensive desk creating deep gouges and permanent damage to the leather insert. They stacked our theater chairs on top of each other so that the locking pins punctured the leather in the sides of the chairs. They stacked heavy-metal furniture on an antique dresser in the POD, also causing severe damage to it. To make things worse, they did not even complete our move!! The guy said "I've got to leave to get drunk; I work as a bouncer at a bar." They left at 8 o'clock with the job still one third undone!! We were extremely unhappy and said it was unacceptable; we hired them to move us and they must complete the move. We said "it's irrelevant about your second job ...we paid you to do this job." Supposedly they called their boss and said another crew would come the next day. We waitedALL DAY LONG and no one called and no one came. UNBELIEVABLE!! We were forced to call another moving company to complete the move the next day!! I would highly recommend that NO ONE USE THIS COMPANY as they are completely unprofessional, and the movers have no clue about how to safely move furniture. read more

When it came time for me to move, I requested several quotes online. Florida Family Movers was the first to reply. From now on I will start with the second. Everything started well enough. Anthony and Ben arrived late, but they did call to let me know. When we got to the new apartment, I did a walk-thru with Anthony to give him an idea where everything was going, then left my wife in charge while I went to get lunch for my family. When I returned, but before I could go inside, the guys came out, said goodbye, and left. At first I was a little put out as I was not given a chance to tip them for their work, but then I went inside. The walk-thru was a waste of time, as they had dumped everything in a pile in the living room. I may not normally care, but I am handicapped which is why I hired a mover in the first place. Then I learned that Anthony had managed to somehow lock one of the two bathrooms shut, which we had to do without for the remainder of the weekend (the office was closed). I wish that were all. One of my pre-requisites was a familiararity with moving a Tempurpedic mattress set. After being somewhat reassured when I booked the move that they were competent, imagine my suprise when I discovered that they had damaged this very expensive mattress set. At this time I attempted to contact them about said issues. I called and left my contact info for a supervisor to call me back. During the course of the next week I learned that my 40" LCD tv was not working either, so, rather than continue to wait, I called back and spoke to someone claiming to be a supervisor. He expressed concern and set up a date to come check out the damage, but on the day he was supposed to come he called and cancelled. Both my wife and I tried again to get someone out to check the damage, but to no avail. According to the tv repairman, the damage was caused by a shock or hard jolt, and cost me $300 to repair, and the Tempurpedic is still damaged. I moved at the end of November, and have waited to write this review in the hope that someone from this company had any integrity, character, or class to respond, but apparently that isn't going to happen. At this point my only hope is that some representative from the State of Florida reads this review and enacts a lawsuit to have "Florida" removed from this companys' name as a poor representation of the state. read more
