FPL needs humans to answer their phones. They make it impossible to reach them or even leave a message outside their computer choices. Their field workers are great but as a company their corporate response to the people absolutely sucks. My average FPL bill is over $700 a month so it would be nice to have someone to speak with when I'm reporting a problem that involves FPL damaging my appliances (AC, TV, Frige etc) when the power goes out and back on and out again several times in 5 minutes and their "AI computer" says there have been no problems in my area. If I could do the review with 1/2 a star I would. My bill has close to double over the last 2 years and now that my downstairs A/C unit isn't even working this hasn't lowered my bill at all. I can't find any number where I can speak to an actual representative! The so called virtual assistant is Useless! I'm so disappointed because years ago I thought they were a pretty good company with adequate customer service. It's a shame and a scam that we have No other option for our electricity. I believe this is the main reason why they do Not care at all that they currently have Zero customer service, and that they can charge whatever prices they see fit. Huge Thank you to Takira at FPL for doing what the previous representative, Mellody, made painfully difficult. In speaking to Mellody, she could not locate the address. Rather than writing it down, she continued to ask me to repeat the address each time she didn't locate it. I would ask questions, and it was as if she didn't hear them and just responded with her own unrelated comment, question or statement. She even suggested the power was provided by Peace River. I gave her the date of service and she asked me for my date of service immediately thereafter. This went on and on where I would give her information, and she would follow-up with a request for the information I had just provided. Totally out of tune with the call. Suffice it to say, she finally found it and when asked how, she spoke gibirish (in my opinion) telling me she had to remove the area code (which I never gave her) to find it. I asked her to cancel my request for service as by then I was done with her lack of customer service and interest in setting up my service. I hung up and called back and had the good fortune of speaking to Takira who was able to find the address at the first try, gather my information and provide me with an account number. And she did all this with a pleasant, welcoming and responsive friendly attitude. Praise God for the existence of customer service even when you have to hang up and call back to get it. They deserve 0 stars. Their app indicates that I am enrolled in automatic bill pay but never charged me. I then call them and they said that I am not enrolled in automatic bill pay on their end and hit me with late fees because of this. I surely do miss Gulf Power. FPL is just awful. Everything is a battle. Take today for instance. AI makes you jump through endless hoops, press this press that, tell me this # , verify this, I didn't understand, tell me the reason ur calling, I didn't understand, say in fewer words , let me send you a text to verify, let me send an email with a code. Finally after 9 minutes of this, I can be put into the check to speak with an agent and then wait to speak to an agent. Then the agent wants to explain to me how we all will be replaced by AI soon. So 20 minutes later absolutely no resolution or help. I'm waiting to be called back by a "manager". Believe me I'm not holding my breath. Ever since FPL has taken over nothing but misery. Yet totally commutative when it comes to telling me how much better it would be if I paid with a credit card. Easier for FPL sure. I wanted to pay electronically through my checking account Don't even get me started on that. Another completely ardous painful encounter. I have complained to our city council, county, and Governor's office nobody could careless about FPL ripping off citizens. I have a business who runs a 100% more power than my home. It's bill is always less than ninety very similar to the gulf power bill. I had a Florida power in lights employee. Tell me that it is my woodburning fireplace. That is raising my home bill. My bill this month was three hundred and fifty dollars. My highest bill when eight people was here with gulf power was a hundred and thirty five.. I have no Central heat. I have no Central air. And I will attach a picture show and use the temperature of inside my home. Do tell me how my bill was three hundred and fifty dollars. I can't even see the meter reading because when I click on my bill. It gives me my old address. They can't give me an answer for that. But they said they would charge me three hundred and fifty dollars for somebody to come out to my home and do an assessment.. We got home from vacation to find that our home had partial power. Then we called FPL Jan 19 they said that apparently our home was not receiving enough power. All my meat spoiled a tech came out said it was a bank that was burned meaning that it their equipment fault. We called and they said it was going to be done by end of day. We waited till 2AM the next morning, calles about 10 times and no ever came out. We have no hot water no air. This is just ridiculous. This is totally unacceptable unfortunately we have no else to have turn. read more

I just don't get why customers service isn't given the reasons why a specific area doesn't have power instead of being give a general spiel on the whole region. There is power a block away but none here. All I can get get is there damage caused by high winds.. but that was 12 miles away. All the neighborhoods around ours have power. FPL has got to be the most disappointing service provider in existence. Look them up on the Better Business Bureau and scroll through their customer reviews. I don't get to choose my service provider because they have a monopoly on central Florida, and honestly I might rather run my home off a ******* generator than deal with them. I signed up for Autopay and they declined my payment for "Incorrect Account Number". I call and it takes 50 minutes of navigating their automated system and being told "that option is unavailable" when I request operator support to actually get a person on the phone. The rep transfers me to a billing specialist who waived the $25 fee and tells me they can't see my account details to verify I input them correctly. I end the call and log in to the FPL app and verify the details, which are correct. Fast forward a week, and I get to play that game a second time when they kick my payment back again for the same reason. Only this time, they refuse to waive the fee, put me on cash only and remove my access to viewing my autopay details. Two differences this week though- I'm on hold for an hour and the billing specialist I get this week reads my routing and account numbers to me and says I put a 9 instead of a 0, and that it's my fault. TIME OUT- why would I sign up for autopay and not pay attention to the account information I'm entering? I ask her if she can change it on her end and she says she can't. I ask if she can unblock it on my end so I can enter it again and have her verify it, NOPE! Okay, the last rep "couldn't see my account details" BUT GO OFF. So I get transferred to a supervisor that talks in circles and does zero helping. They don't even pretend to give a **** about you either. At the end of the day, FPL is run by greedy fat cats who have a monopoly on the power supply in central Florida. Shame on you for screwing the taxpayers who voted you into office under false pretense, Desantis. You are despicable. No ethics. read more

there is no option for people leaving an address without an immediate transfer address. They close your account and use your deposit then bill you the rest instead of pausing the account until you have a new address which enables them to receive a brand new deposit instead of transferring the current deposit. I have 36 solar panels producing 97% of my energy but they are charging over $150.00 amonth for service. Their customer services IS HORRIBLE because they refuse to answer any questions as to why the bills is so high. and to get a person on the phone is impossible. i can't wait to move out of south florida and they are a good reason too. also, The power goes out frequent by any little bit of rain or wind and it takes them forever to restore service. read more

Just finished griping Florida Power and Light aka NewEra is a darling of Wall Street because it spends absolutely no money fielding customer concerns. In the previous post I complained their computer recognizes my phone as attached to my address yet the computer would not recognize me as a customer. I went back to 'start a project' to get around that robot computer customer NO-SERVICE thing only to be told "We were unable to find the address. Please enter the correct information below. " .......... and so I call - their puter asks if I am calling about service to my house (yes) yet if I ask for service the puter has no method of allowing me to make an inquiry because it can't find my address. Absolutely terrible. I have been an unfortunate customer of theirs for over a year and they just randomly cut my service off. Tried to get ahold of someone, and the one person I did get ahold of didn't even know how to work the computer. FPL's Surge Shield Protection Plan is the biggest SCAM I've ever encountered. After paying approximately $20 a month for years, FPL conducted a power reset on 12/03/2023 which was confirmed by FPL via phone call. My refrigerator stopped working and I put in a claim. An appliance technician repaired my refrigerator and he said it was due to a brown out. I sent FPL all the necessary forms including the receipt/Invoice with the technicians comments. But according to the FPL SCAM claim department, I did not submit all the documentation correctly.  I needed a sworn statement signed by the technician including his name, license, address, email, phone number, and why he thought it was FPL's fault. It took me hours to decifer their claim process and now I must find this technician and ask him to fill out forms. Of course the technician would not. FPL SCAM then sent me  a dozen pages of disclaimers. The fine print was outrageous! They are not responsible for any damages due to acts of weather or God etc etc! And by signing up for the Surge Shield SCAM, you waive your right to any litigation! I can go on and on, but I think I've said enough. Don't waste your money on this SCAM because you will never be reimbursed. read more

Fpl billing dept is the worst. I have had my service since 1989 same address.Got an e-mail in July my acct was being closed because someone applied for new service at my address. I responded twice at the beginning of July this was a mistake. The response IT WAS TAKEN CARE NOTHING ELSE TO DO. My acct was closed July 31. The turned my power on but haven't reopened my acct So I haven't had a bill since July It is now September 3. I can't wait to see what they want charge me. read more

Florida Power and Light, as with most utilities, has a controlling monopoly- AND THEY TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT! And lawmakers allow it- I have solar panels that supply more than enough power for my home- and then the FPL monopoly is allowed to charge me and other customers who have solar or use below a certain amount of electricity, a 25 dollar fee . Insanely terrible company. My electric bill has TRIPLED since these people bought gulf power. It's more than my rent by far. Horrible customer service. I paid my bill in full February 3rd. I Get home today to my power shut off. I'm the only one in the complex with no power. So like "what the hell". Won't allow me access to my account online. I call, no person available. Finally said to hell with it and went through the bill pay steps. Out of nowhere I owed 27$. TWENTY SEVEN. Poor customer service. Tried to call to transfer service and the lady didn't know what I was even talking about. She sounded like she was 16 years old. I asked for a date and she said it would have to be a later date so I said that was fine, then she came back and said they can't do it on the date I said it would be earlier. I'm surprised by all the negative reviews. We've had FPL for 7 years without any non-expected storm outages. For the first time we had some power issues today and within a few hours FPL had multiple trucks at our house and repaired our line and meter unbelievably quickly. The final repair happened around 8pm on a Sunday. Great service! I also love their app with a variety of tools to monitor power usage, broken down by month, week, day and even hourly consumption. Online auto payment has been flawless too. No complaints from this customer. read more
