A cute and cozy little restaurant! There's plenty of parking in the lot and a decent amount of seating inside. I would make a reservation if you can, especially on the weekend because it does fill up. The drinks are good and pretty unique! I liked the different flavors they offer. I think my favorite dish is the Butter Chicken Alla Vodka. I feel like this dish is pretty consistently good and I would recommend. The other pasta dishes I've tried are usually good but sometimes they're made inconsistently. Overall, the pasta and the drinks are good! I would recommend the Tres Leche Tiramisu cake! It's my favorite dessert here and it's made very well, flavorful, and delicious. Staff is super nice and accommodating! They are great and make the experience better. While the reason I came for dinner last night was due to a Yelp event, I stayed for the tasting menu that was amazing. I had a wonderful first visit here and will definitely return. The space is beautiful and the seating is comfortable. My server Tiana took great care of me. I was at a banquette facing the floor to ceiling windows. The tasting menu is $38 and you may select accompanying cocktails and wine for another $30. The a la carte menu is also available for separate plates. There is one first course choice, which is a savory cannoli that was unique and tasted great. For course two I chose the Garlic Herb Roll and Truffle Yuzu Kosho Salad. This salad was a bit unusual, with frozen raspberries, and I loved it. The roll is probably the best I've ever had. It was placed on top of a light layer of herb butter and was so light. My third course was the Butter Chicken Alla Vodka. Again, so good. I took half home for lunch. The dessert course has 3 choices and I had the Warm Chocolate Brownie with Banana Ice Cream. Had an awesome dinner at Flour and honestly, I can't stop thinking about the chipotle chicken with naan. It had this subtle Indian flavor. I also tried their tiramisu for dessert and wow, it was delicious. Super creamy, not too sweet, just how I like it. The menu has a bunch of other things that sounded great, so I'll definitely be coming back to try more. The place itself was cozy and festive, with Christmas decorations up and really friendly staff. We started off with drinks: I got the blueberry Negroni, while my friends got the pickle dirty martini, and some kind of spritz. Beautiful! We also shared the burrata. I've had my eye on Flour for a while, and finally managed to make schedules line up to try. Their fixed price menu is a good concept, obviously I want salad, bread and pasta! Since there were 2 of us, we had one of each bread - hot honey and garlic parm. The texture is super fun, fluffy inside, crisp outside. We also tried both salads - I liked the green goddess, with radish and lots of dill. The salads are a generous side portion, and extra points for chopping the greens fine (I don't like having to cut lettuce with a knife - team chopped salad over here). For my main, I had the butter chicken pasta, and it was a really fun mash up. The sauce was really nice, and there was plenty of chicken. We also had the fried lasagna bites as an app (not included in the fixed price, BTW), and how can you go wrong? crispy, cheesey, with marinara. Yum Another thing that we really liked - they have a good selection of mocktails on the menu, and there is a definite price difference between leaded and unleaded (looking at you places that charge $15 for a cocktail and $14 for NA). I had the Purple Martini, NA version, and really loved the fruity floral combo. It came in a cute glass with a sprig of lavender on top. We didn't do dessert, that was plenty! Tried Flour Pasta Bar in Polaris this evening for Restaurant Week Their $35 deal included an appetizer, entrée, and dessert -- and since they advertised clearly labeled vegan options, I marked this as a spot I really wanted to try, especially since it was my first visit. Unfortunately, the experience was very underwhelming. The Restaurant Week menu listed vegan options for every course, which was the main reason I chose this restaurant. However, once ordering began, that quickly became unclear. The cauliflower appetizer I was initially told could be made vegan... couldn't be. The only option ended up being a simple salad with very minimal toppings (not pictured). For my entrée, I was first told I could have the gnocchi with modifications -- which I was excited about -- but that was later walked back as well. I was then told the jalapeño hearts pasta could be made vegan, so I went with that. Sadly, it missed the mark completely. The dish was extremely watery and lacked flavor, tasting almost entirely like lime juice. It was served more like soup, with noodles floating in a pool of liquid and corn (pictured). Dessert was sorbet -- which was fine -- but overall I left still feeling hungry and disappointed due to the lack of clarity around what could actually be made vegan and the quality of those options. I truly wanted to like Flour Pasta Bar, and my friends who ordered regular dishes seemed to enjoy their meals. What a fun spot! The inside of flour feels like you are at a fun hip bar restaurant inside of a Vegas casino! The color scheme is so playful and I think is reflective of the menu. Service was amazing! We sat at the bar and got to chat with the bartenders and they were so kind and gave great recommendations! (And made delicious cocktails!!!) Truly a fusion of cuisines! The shrimp appetizer was delicious: plump perfectly cooked shrimp, wrapped in crispy kataifa. The dinner is 3 courses: a roll, salad, and then a pasta option. We opted to get both rolls- you can't go wrong with either! They were delicious and almost had a fry dough taste to them. Very rich! Both salads again you cannot go wrong with!! We loved them both. The truffle yuzu was amazing if you (like me) love the smell of truffle but don't like to have it over power the dish. This was well balanced. And the pastas!! Wow these were both great!! While I wish the sauces had a little more depth to them, we still licked our plates clean so still 5 stars in my book. We liked everything we ordered, everything was good, the pasta was fresh made which was nice, but we didn't love anything and we wouldn't order anything again other than the pear salad - and we shared and tried 80% of the menu between 5 of us. Our server was very good and the place has a cool vibe. I think our favorite pasta was probably the lemon Cajun shrimp. We also tried several other pastas and all were fine. I was realllllly excited to come here because I love Rooh! Our waiter was great and everyone we interacted with. I just think that you're not actually getting much bang for your buck here, if you are thinking what I was thinking- $28 for a pre fix menu, what a good deal! The pasta was fine, I would compare to Cheesecake Factory (not meant to be a diss, that is just what the food is most similar to). Nothing special, but good enough. My shrimp was overcooked, a tad on the chewy side. Dough = literally a savory donut, just fine. Fries were good, I liked the olive aioli. Salads were really basic, the dill was really overpowering on one and the other had like one frozen raspberry and balsamic. Desserts were also just fine. So because the pre course things were not anything substantial, you're kind of just paying $28 for basic pasta. I'm sad that I didn't like it more, for the kind of money we spent though we could have gone to Speck or somewhere that is making pasta handmade and more interesting. Edit: I have something unnecessary but is hopefully at least feedback. The generic Amazon prints all over the wall instead of real art is almost never a good sign- you'd be better off with blank walls in my opinion. Flour, brought to you by the owners of the fabulous ROOH in the Short North is not a typical Italian restaurant, but rather Indian-Italian fusion. My suggestion is to read through the menu closely before ordering because they offer interesting twists on dishes that one may have different expectations of. Each dish has some sort of Indian twist to it so be aware of that. The owners have a wonderful modern Indian restaurant in town, and this is an interesting fusion of two cuisines in their second concept. We went on a really busy night and the service was good but stretched. I thought the coursing could've been a little less rigorous/ hurried because it felt like " eat it and beat it" despite the friendliness of the hostesses and server. As soon as we took one bite of a dish, the next one came out, so that's my biggest feedback. Slow it down even if you're busy. We ordered from the regular fixed price menu and each got a different salad and bread, although the gem salad could have used some citrus or something to brighten it. Both entrées were good, but I thought gnocchi were pretty chewy, however the sauces were really surprising and tasty. We took a pass on the dessert, but Flour was definitely a vibrant space. The interior is really cute. Super pink, super colorful and vibrant. There's a lot of two top tables, so in my opinion this would be a great date spot! Now let's talk about the spread. MEET ME FOR MATCHA - 6/10 - I wanted to try something new and didn't hateee this but certainly could have opted into an alternative drink that would have left me wanting another TRUFFLE HONEY & PECORINO - 9/10 - The bread options may be the star of the meal ! It's interesting that the NA drinks cost the same as the alcoholic drinks. From the moment you walk in, we were entranced by the modern decor of the restaurant. The music kept with the modern vibe and it was hard not to sing along to some great songs while sipping on our cocktails. I ordered the café tiramisu martini, herb and garlic butter bread, house baby gem salad, and butter chicken alla vodka. I was extremely satisfied with all of the menu items. I could eat that butter chicken again and again. The service was so quick and friendly. There were never empty plates sitting around and my water was never low! She gave us great recommendations and was very accommodating about gluten free options (they do have gf bread and pasta). All of the staff were really friendly and worked well as a team. The menu is prix fixe and it is a lot of food for $28. You will not leave hungry. There are two bread options, two salad choices and all kinds of pasta dishes. Desserts and side dishes are a la carte. Tip: If you don't like pasta, there are no other entree options. I went to Flour last week with my friends and had an interesting experience. I wouldn't say that I loved it, but I wouldn't say it was bad either. The restaurant is very hard to find as Google maps takes you to the correct location, Apple Maps does not. I had a reservation and was seated right away. Everything on the menu is based on a tasting menu. It is $28 for a dough, greens and flour (main dish). My favorite thing that I ate was the dough. I ordered the truffle honey and pecorino and it was fantastic more of a sweet bread. On the other hand, my friends ordered the herb and garlic butter. Both are great options. As the only one at the table, I enjoyed the arugula. In my opinion, it would be helpful to have not just salad but soup maybe or a simpler salad like Caesar. I was the only one at my table that ate this portion of the meal. For my main option or my Flour, I got the butter chicken alla vodka, it was not really my favorite. It came with ROOH Red Pepper & Cashew Makhani / Crispy Chicken which I substituted for grilled chicken. I should've gone with my original thought of getting the Short Rib Pappardelle with Marsala Braised Shallots and Mashed Potato Foam. Will I be coming back? Probably because now I want to try that other entrée. My friend also ordered the shoestring fries which were very good. Flour has a good concept of a set menu price. You get to pick a bread, salad and pasta for $30. The bread and salad are delicious. The salad was fresh. However, the pasta was disappointing. I ordered the braised beef and my friend ordered the Korean pasta. Both were so spicy we were not able to eat very much of the dish. We expected the Korean one to be spicy but not the braised beef. It burnt my mouth and made my nose run. The menu did not mention any spice for either dish. Flour would get more stars if we were able to eat the main course. The service was great. A nice little treat for a pre-holiday shopping evening at Polaris. We arrived in the early evening and decided to partake in their happy hour at the bar. Because we wanted to go and do a little shopping afterwards and we both drove, we decided to go for their mocktails. I think it's lovely they had so many NA options. They were both delicious, but I think I enjoyed my guava margarita more. Nice effervescence with the Sprite addition & good guava flavor. The mango dream was overly sweet IMO, and a little thick. We proceeded to order the tempura cauliflower, buffalo popcorn chicken and pickles, and a side salad. Since we came on a Friday evening, it started to get quite busy fast. However, I think our waitress remained unfazed and friendly. Plus our food came out at a pretty reasonable time. The food was good but, if I'm really honest, nothing spectacular. We both felt that the food was overly sauced, and the fry wasn't executed very well. The cauliflower had batter that stuck to your teeth and the popcorn chicken just didn't have enough crunch. We'll have to come back for their more known pasta dishes for a true review. Both our desserts were also pretty decent. I think the Tres leches tiramisu was our favorite. The mango crème brûlée was predominantly eggy in flavor, and didn't really have a mango taste to it like the name suggested. There was also some kind of dried green herb that didn't texturally work for me. However, the decor and mood of the restaurant provided a cute little date night pre-shopping vibe that I enjoyed. It's not traditional as the title says. I tried the butter chicken. It's a Indian dish but they put a spin on it. The portion size is small for the price. The sause is creamy and the pasta is fresh. The chicken is very tender. The dish was ok but I needed to be served with bread so you can get all the sauce off the bowl. I take points off for that. They give you a menu for a 4 course meal without a price. Not cool but just ask. The starter was red and green burrata. It was pesto and sun dried tomatoes it can with bread. Not bad! Desert was a mango creme brulee. It was good but needed of the carmelized top. With that said I left hungry because of the small portion. Would I come back or take a friend form out of town. I would say no. Why? The portion size and no bread. If you are hungry I would go elsewhere. The place seems it was created for drinks more than food. If I could give 3.5 stars, I would. There's a lot of good: the space is decorated in a really pleasing way with bright, but not overwhelming colors and art. It is located essentially inside the Polaris mall, with an exterior entrance. We were greeted friendly and promptly for our 645 reservations and brought to a small but comfortable table for two. Our server was wonderful; she was friendly, funny, and had good recommendations for us as we ordered. I also appreciated that it is a fixed menu with a bread, a salad, and a pasta based on entrée for $30. One downside: you can't order just an entrée (it will still be the same price), as my friend was hoping to do so to take home for her husband. The food ultimately was good, but didn't seem to stand out in any real way for me. I ordered the butter, chicken pasta, which had good flavor, but not a lot of chicken. I sort of wished I was just eating traditional butter chicken over rice. The fried bread and salad were tasty, though again, perhaps not particularly memorable. Amazing time at flour the other night for dinner. I love their 3 course fixed menu. You get bread, salad and pasta all for $28. The pasta is so unique too and it's homemade. So you know it's very fresh!! I got the honey bread, arugula salad and the 3 colored gnocchi. I think my favorite was the gnocchi - they actually make it with ricotta cheese. And the 3 sauces were red, Alfredo and pesto. It was so yummy! I loved tasting all the sauces together. We got the Oreo mud pie (ice cream) for dessert. It was huge but so tasty too!! Had a fantastic dinner last night at Flour! The $38 four-course tasting menu offered excellent value. Highlights at our table included the Herby Jalapeño Goddess Wedge, the Butter Chicken Alla Vodka, and the Lemon Cajun Shrimp Spaghetti--each dish was bold, flavorful, and well-executed. The Beef Keema was decent, though I felt it lacked the depth of Indian aromatics I was hoping for--it came across a bit mild for my taste. I first saw Flour on instagram, amazing pictures, great menu. So my wife and I made it a point to go for dinner and I'm so glad we did. Everything was so amazing, and honestly, their happy hour is a steal! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who appreciates high quality food, with the service and modern takes to go with it. Love the pre fix menu concept. $28 - you choose a bread, a salad, and a pasta. The bread and salad were fantastic! For my pasta, I chose the butter chicken alla vodka. The pasta was perfectly al dente and the sauce had an addictive kick. I just wish there was more sauce. I would say the vibe is unfussy upscale. I'll be back for sure. read more
