Marcella's was a pleasant surprise. We were both big fans of the food and the service from our guy. EB was incredible. None of the appetizers sounded great. Well, the meatball sounded good, but I knew that I was going to get one with my spaghetti and meatballs, so I elected to just go with the bread. The bread was phenomenal. We were given some olive oil and some pecorino Romano. We loved the bread. Let me tell you, it is a great place to eat, but it is loud and it was filled with people. Now I know why. I really enjoyed the spaghetti and one huge veal, meatball the meatball was incredibly tender and fell apart with one touch from the fork. Sauce was solid. My friend got the fettuccine with meatball. The meatball has some of the spaghetti sauce on it and he said that it mixes well to almost taste like a vodka sauce or a creamy spaghetti sauce. Overall, a really great experience. Long ago Marcella's was one of my faves (specifically the SN location). Creative drinks, basic but good Italian fare and a great happy hour. Those days are long gone. The Polaris location is large and has a decent patio. The bar/lounge area is pretty big too, that's where we were sat when we came in for a weekend meal. Started with drinks and some apps. The cocktails were small and kind of meh. They only had 2 drafts, Stella & Peroni. I like both but it was strange that they had no other selections. The worst part was by far the food. Arancini - 6/10, nice crispy texture but the taste was a bit unexpected, like the added a bit too much Gorgonzola. Calamari - 7/10, a bit chewy but with a nice crisp, missing something fresh. Beef carpaccio - 2/10, Marcella's used to have an absolutely delicious carpaccio... this was a bit of an abomination. Beef slices too thick, crispy flatbread that broke up when I looked at it wrong, a white sauce on top that made the whole dish worse. Absolutely do not recommend. Dinner was a few pizzas 2/10 (read: precooked flatbreads with subpar toppings). The crispy potato "pizza" needs to be taken off the menu. Garlic sauce, cheese and these awful, overcooked potato chips. It was inedible - all 5 people at the table tried it but put their slice down after the first or second bite. Pizza Margherita DOC was a very salty, tomatoey thing. I think the grocery store version would be a better choice. We also shared the Pepperoni Sausage with mushrooms which was better, but it was undercooked and watery. Our friends got the Carbonara Pasta and said it was ok, but did not want to take their leftovers home. I don't get the hype or appeal of Marcella's whatsoever. Coming from LA, this place reminded me of Maggiano's. We got a patio seat and it was just perfect ambience for a perfect birthday lunch and our server, Sasha, made the occasion feel incredibly special. Her service was attentive without ever being intrusive, and she was so warm, gracious, and thoughtful throughout the entire evening. She anticipated everything we needed and added such a personal touch to our celebration. The food and atmosphere were wonderful, but exceptional service is what truly elevates a dining experience. Perfect 18th birthday celebration for my niece. We originally had reservations at a local steakhouse but do unforeseen circumstances they had to close first the evening, one call to Marcella's and they were able to accommodate our party of 5. A great menu, quick bar bites or handmade pasta, each option was better than the next even the house made bread! The lasagna and chicken parmigiana were especially good, huge portions too. We celebrated a family member's birthday and enjoyed a wonderful meal. The chicken piccata was fantastic, moist and juicy with great flavor! I expected much better from a Cameron Mitchell restaurant. Unfortunately, Marcella's fell short. We started with the charcuterie board, which was supposed to include goat cheese but didn't. Instead, it came with two small pieces of something unidentifiable and some American gorgonzola--very little blue cheese overall. The meats were overly fatty, and most of them were left on the board. I ordered the chicken giardiniera for my entrée, and it was a letdown. It was essentially a breaded schnitzel topped with chopped tomatoes, which completely ruined the breading. The cocktails were the highlight of the night--strong and well made. Unfortunately, the wine pricing was hard to justify. A bottle of Matua that retails for around $10 was priced at $40. Between the disappointing food and inflated prices, this isn't a place I'd return to. read more

This is my second trip to Columbus for work, and both times I've made it a priority to stop at Marcella's--first at the Short North location, and now at Polaris. I can confidently say: this place delivers, consistently. The star of the show is the meatball. I'd seen all the rave reviews online, and let me tell you--they're not exaggerating. It comes paired with fettuccine alfredo and marinara, and the combo of sauces works surprisingly well together. The meatball itself? Easily the best I've ever had. And no, I haven't been to Italy (yet), but I've had my fair share of meatballs--and nothing has come close to this one. We also tried an Melted Pecorino Cheese appetizer that included melted cheese, fig jam, and apple slices -- and it was quite good. A perfect blend of sweet and savory. I had the Italian wedding soup, which was a bit heartier than most versions I've had. It was solid--nothing mind-blowing, but definitely above average. The Milan Manhattan cocktail was well balanced and smooth, and we finished with the pistachio cannoli, which were crisp, creamy, and not too sweet. A great way to end the meal. Both times I've visited Marcella's, the service has been warm and attentive, and the atmosphere feels just upscale enough for a nice dinner while still being relaxed. If you're in Columbus and enjoy Italian food, go here. And whatever you do--get the meatball. You won't regret it. read more

This was a pretty good pick. To start we got bread. That was a 4/10. 4 pieces of cold plain bread. Nothing to rave about. I had cheese tortellini and it was good. I only wish it was served hotter. The plate it arrived on could cook an egg but the food itself wasn't as hot as I would like. My husband had lasagna and he said it was good. It was a large slab and had great flavor. We both agreed we like our lasagna to have more sauce. First Italian restaurant where a salad didn't come with our meal but can be overlooked. Our waitress was friendly fast and attentive. The building gave a nice Italian feel. Wish the tables weren't cluttered. Our table for 2 had 8+ small plates and a pizza rack in the middle plus the salt pepper and a candle. My friend and I stopped at this restaurant while visiting Columbus from out of town. We came in on a Saturday around 4:30 PM. It was not that busy but we still needed to wait about 10 minutes for a table. During the time we were there at the restaurant got incredibly busy, however, so I can see where most of the tables were probably just waiting with reservations. The server was very friendly and attentive, although the restaurant did become quite crowded. I ordered a cup of Italian wedding soup in the veal meatball and my friend had a margarita pizza. The wedding soup was not the best I have ever had, and I probably wouldn't order it again, but the meatballs in the soup were very good. If you enjoy traditional wedding soup, I probably wouldn't recommend this place because the flavor was not on fire with other wedding soups that I have had. The meatball was enormous and awesome. I ended up taking about half of it home. My friend thoroughly enjoyed her flatbread. Margarita pizza and the size was good. If we came back into town, I would try this restaurant again, but I might try a different dish. The restaurant was very large and clean inside and there was ample parking outside. read more

I came here for dinner with my family to celebrate my parents' anniversary, and it was packed! Every seat was taken--definitely the holiday season vibe. We ordered the bruschetta, veggie pizza, and vodka pasta. Unfortunately, the bruschetta was a letdown--it was very oily and lacked fresh tomatoes on top, just bread and cheese. On the bright side, the pizzas were great! The flatbread style makes them easy to eat and absolutely delicious. The vodka pasta was a standout--flavorful with a nice kick of spice! Visiting for a stay-cation, we've saw this establishment last time's visit, so we knew to try it this time. Looking at the menu and photos prior to us coming we felt this dining was going to be a hit. We came in to an average experience based per our meal. Our waitress was awesome keeping drinks filled and attentive our needs. We sat in the bar area, next to the outside patio, where a door was propped open and caused a cold draft, she closed it upon request! We ordered for starters Arancini. They were great by themselves with the dipping sauce bitter tasting. For our main course I ordered angel hair pasta with the bolognese sauce, with a side of Alfredo sauce. My friend ordered the chicken Parmigiana with linguine pasta topped in their Alfredo sauce. I found my dish was mid in flavor nothing that gave a wow, the portion was good, and Alfredo sauce didn't offer flavor and was thin. The same bitter tasting sauce from the arancini was on the chicken that lacked flavor as well. While we didn't hate it, just let down on expectation. Thank you anyway! read more

This resto reminds of Maggiano's. Its okay Italian food but I wouldn't say spectacular. They were busy on a Saturday, I suggest making a reservation. We started of with Parma Prosciutto which I wish the bread were on the crispy side rather than soggy. So, that was not a hit, though the prosciutto was okay. We also tried the Calamari, it looked so busy piled up with thin slices of zucchini and peppers only to realize its mostly the veggies and very little squid! For the mains: 1. I talked to Chef Chris on Wednesday about preparing two gluten free chicken Parmesan dinners & gluten free meatball for me to pick up today at 1:45. He told my wife & I to pick it up at the hostess desk. Imagine my surprise when I came to pick up the dinners and they had no knowledge of the order. The vibe, the food, and the employees were all 100%. I ordered the Penne Diavolo with a meatball, it was YUM! A very good friend of ours calls the meatballs here the best he's ever had. This is very high praise. I've gotten to try their food, but just carry out. My husband and I were in town, and I needed him to taste for himself. We started with the braised veal meatball. So delicious, so tender. The meatball is huge, and definitely worth trying, either as an appetizer or as an addition to your meal. We also got a Caesar salad to start, and it was unique and tasty. My husband got the penne alla vodka and I got the gnocchi bolognese. Both of these were a little unexpected and surprising, but still delicious. I was a little disappointed with the portion size though. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. The space is pretty large and expansive, but still feels tight and intimate. This is an ok italian restaurant. They have the seats tightly packed inside but it has a nice weekend eve dinner feel. The waiter was very friendly. My salad, pizza and margarita were good. I was thinking the pizza would be a big circle pie but it wasn't it was more of an appetizer...didn't really fit with the pizza stands they have on all of the tables. My sister said her pasta was good buy my mom did not like her spaghetti and meatball she said the meatball was too easy to break into...it broke into pieces with one fork push. Have lived in the area for 20 years and never tried Marcella's but did this afternoon for a birthday celebration and was glad we chose this place finally. Excellent wedding soup, probably best I've ever had. Linguini with clam sauce was very good although I usually like red sauce, there's was butter garlic noodles which I like also, just figured I'd not ask for a special order and roll with their standard recipe. Was really good and not complaints at all, they even did the noodles a little Al dente which only quality Italian restaurants know to do. I attended a birthday dinner at Marcellas with a group recently. We made a reservation for 10, and 14 actually showed up, but they were accommodating and took a few extra minutes to reset the table to fit all of us. I had the Elderberry fizz, which was a not overly sweet summer cocktail. I think that may have been the table favorite, as I head that the other drinks were just OK. Someone ordered a bowl of olives to enjoy with the bread service, which was very nice. For my entree, I had the chicken giardiniera. The chicken was well cooked, and I liked the chopped veggie topping, but that's the entree. It's a large piece of chicken in a large pool of sauce. I did order pasta on the side, which improved the dish. Perhaps I'm kind of American, but I guess i prefer more on the plate than just a protein. We had 2 birthday honorees when we visited, and the kitchen sends out a birthday card and the dessert of your choice, which was very nice. The tiramisu was excellent. read more

Marcella's is one of my favorite places to eat in Polaris. We've been coming here for almost four years and the food and service has been consistently great. We enjoy Half-Price Happy Hour, which is Monday through Friday from 4:00-6:00pm in the bar and cocktail lounge. Be sure to come early to get seats. The outdoor patio is a beautiful experience. Flower planters, wildlife, and grass and a pond add to a relaxing aesthetic. The indoor dining area is large and handles plenty of people. Now to the food: it's all good. Our favorites are the Caesar salad, Calamari appetizer, Lasagna (it's huge), Linguine & Clams, and Cannoli. I like that Marcella's takes service seriously. Hosts are hard workers and servers are attentive. Numerous times I have seen experienced servers training new servers. So, for a date night, meet up with friends, or a place to bring visitors, I highly recommend Marcella's. read more

I made a reservation and was seated immediately when we arrived at a table in the bar area. It took a while for us to be greeted but when the server finally arrived she explained she was new and to be patient with her. After the minor service delay the remainder of her performance was flawless. We had the Veal Meatball as an appetizer and we all agreed it was underwhelming. After hearing that it was one of the "Best In Columbus" I expected more flavor. We ordered the lasagna and the daily special chicken risotto. The risotto was cooked well and flavorful. My daughter wasn't too fond of her lasagna and everyone was in agreement that the food wasn't really worth the price. I ended the meal with an espresso martini that was delicious! A great experience from beginning to end! Our waitress, I think Chamberlin, was absolutely wonderful. She was on top of everything and great with the kiddos at our table. I ordered the burrata and arancini, both were so delicious! I ordered the Arrabbiata, it tasted good, but I don't know that I would order it again. Other from the table spoke highly of the salmon and the chicken piccata. The tiramisu was so spongey and tastes amazing. It is Gnocchi, Braised Lamb, Marinara, & Parmesan Reggiano. With extra shaved parm on top. My partner ordered the Mushroom and Chicken Risotto. It was a tad bit salty but really good as well. Both wonderful and filling dishes. Definitely recommend Marcella's and I really appreciated the friendliness of each employee and the warm and inviting feel. My husband and I came here for dinner one evening recently. It was busy but we were able to get a table in the bar area, it was very very small though and there was not enough room to be comfortable. He ordered the chicken piccata and I had the chicken Marsala. I will include a picture of his in the review but I was unable to take a picture of mine before devouring it! The chicken Marsala was out of this world and every bite was heavenly. It was the single best meal I've had in at least a year and one I will not soon forget.
