Earth & Sky Chocolates is actually in one of the converted train cars. They don't have a hanging sign, just one posted on the nearby pillar, so it's not immediately obvious which car they're in. If you're coming from the "front" of the station (where the depot is), it'll be the last car on the left. This is actually their second location, with their main shop in downtown Napa. They also have a website where you can purchase VEGAN and non-vegan boxes or even subscribe to a monthly box. Calistoga Depot is a recently opened market(?) along their main street (Lincoln Ave) repurposing the second-oldest train depot and train station in California. All the train cars had their interiors redone and are so worth the visit, every one of them seems to have a unique aesthetic. Be aware that each car is an individual shop. We had thought that everything was closed because of the tinted windows, not-quite-open businesses in some cars, and very few people at the time. But Earth & Sky Chocolates WAS open, and we got some great treats from there. Bonbons, brittles, little caramels, and (most importantly) HANDMADE MARSHMALLOWS! My friends and I each tried a passionfruit mango caramel and were shocked at how much it REALLY tasted like passionfruit, which made the caramel very light. Main thing for me is that this was all very pricey. Definitely more of a special occasion kind of thing. But with the local Calistoga Depot Distillery next door and the wineries down the street, they're also a convenient stop if you're looking to do wine-chocolate tastings.

I'm very particular about my chocolate too. I pretty much break down my chocolate into two categories: 1. Regular Chocolate - Hershey's, Lindt, See's, Cadbury, etc. 2. Chocolate Chocolate - Godiva, Ethel M Chocolates, and all other "premium" chocolates that are not as well known. I have to say that I'm not a fan of fudge. I saw the sample table (at V. Sattui Winery) and I actually passed it up initially, because I saw that it was fudge. I was standing near the table waiting for my BF to pick out cold beverages, when I decided to go ahead and try a small piece since I was just standing there anyway. OMG . . . It was good! It had an absolutely delicious flavor and it was so smooth. I prodded my BF to try a piece, and he loved it too! There was no hesitation on my end. I grabbed two 8oz bars of it (Chocolate Fudge Truffle), and left for the register. My friend was somewhat surprised that I purchased two of them for $11.99 each, but my BF justified my purchasing choice by commenting, "She really loves her chocolate, so when Roselina says it's good I trust her". My friend understood why I bought it when she and her husband tried a piece. They were amazed at how good it was, because they also hate fudge. Thank you Chocolate Gods for watching over me! :)

Gary, the master Fudgemaker, was there giving out free samples. When I enquired with the server about the choclate tasting, she sent me to Gary. I told him about the yelp review and he gave me several samples to try with the wine. Napa Valley Fudge Company is a separate company but they sell their Fudge inside the V Sattui Market. Gary is friendly, personable, and quite skilled at making his desserts. I ended up bringing home a pound of his fudge both because it tasted good but also because it matches with the wines so well. It doesn't hurt that he gave out free sample to the customers there. In addition, just the fact that the guy is hardworking and makes a great product is a wonderful reason to try the fudge. So whether you go to his store or find yourself at the Winery, your swee tooth will thank you! :-)

We sat at the bar, where the bartenders welcomed us so warmly. Water was poured right away, complimentary bar bites were offered along with the menu, and the hospitality felt genuinely thoughtful from the start. The service was extraordinary and the cocktails were fantastic, making such an impression that we came back for breakfast on our last day. Chris, our server at breakfast, was amazing. We happened to run into friends seated outside and stepped out briefly to say hello. When we returned, the team had thoughtfully kept our food in the warming oven so it would still be perfectly warm after we finished socializing. That level of attention and care is rare. Between the exceptional food and cocktails, warm welcome, and truly polished service, Solbar was a highlight of our trip. Based on this experience alone, I would absolutely stay at this property the next time I'm in Calistoga.

I always pick up a tasty beverage and one of their delicious desserts. Their desserts are so good! I never leave without getting a slice of their cheesecake, and at around $5 a slice, it's an incredible deal. The spork is made out of bamboo. Yuck! They also have a great deli, salad bar, and their Mexican bread is definitely a standout. There's a nice variety of options, and I love that this store is right in the heart of Calistoga. The only downside is the parking lot is a little small -- think along the lines of a Trader Joe's parking situation -- but don't let that stop you from visiting. A great local stop for delicious treats, everyday essentials, and a little something extra!

This tour took you into the bowels of the castle where you got to see where they stored the wine and places where the wine was made. Believe it or not this is an unusual experience and I would say worth every minute of the tour. Having said that this is a castle that was brought over from Italy brick by brick. So the dungeon isn't a real dungeon and the tunnels aren't exactly tunnels from the 1600s but still you get the feeling of how the Winery operates. It's truly an experience that you won't have anywhere else in Napa. They also have a mini animal farm on the property that you see once you exit the facility. This is a nice little experience for the children who go on the tour. The gift shop is actually an excellent one with unusual items not normally found in the local gift shops. The wine was really good and the family tours make it even more fun because you're not just there looking at a bunch of walls . You actually get to learn some of the history behind the castle and how everything came together. And when I say this place has rooms on rooms on rooms... they were not playing! There's so much to see throughout the castle, from the different rooms and hallways to all the little details that make you feel like you stepped into another time period. The higher you get, the better the views too. Being up top and looking out over the Napa Valley was definitely one of my favorite parts. You can really sit back and take in the scenery and understand why people come out here to visit. The family tour was fun, the wine was good, the atmosphere was great, and there's plenty to look at. Definitely worth stopping by if you're doing a Napa trip and want something a little different than just winery hopping. 4 -- Fun experience, good wine, beautiful views, and a LOT of history packed into one castle! .
