This was the first time I visited this shop. My wife was excited when we passed it on the way to another shop and she asked me to make sure that we go here because she wanted to pick up some chocolates. I'm very happy that we did because everything about this place, including the chocolates, were amazing. My wife asked for the best recommendations and the lady working that day was so kind to give us the best of what she believe they had. We had the chocolates on the way home because we had to get home and each bite of each chocolate was not only fragrant but very tasty. When you walk inside, you're met with a wonderful contrast of the Earth tone colored chocolates placed against the nice bright paint and the natural light that comes in. I absolutely loved this place and my only regret is that we did not have more money to buy more we will definitely be visiting this place again whenever we pass through the Napa Valley.

    Hot chocolate $4 + 3 truffles ($3.25 each)

On our recent trip down to Napa, we decided to walk around main street down in St. Helena. Woodhouse Chocolate stood out to us, admittedly because they were advertising $4 hot chocolate in their window! It's quite cute inside and the truffles look pretty. They're pretty pricey at $3.25 a pop, we ordered three + the hot chocolate to try. We tried: espresso, coffee toffee, and classic dark truffle. To be honest, the truffles were good, but nothing extraordinary I would go out of my way for. See's candy still takes the cake on consistency and pricing in that regard. However, they are very aesthetic and still tastes good. The presentation is great for gifting, probably. Out of the three, I really like the toffee crunch, but the coffee isn't as prevalent in that one. Now, the hot chocolate was fantastic - rich, dark chocolate flavor - not too sweet and very creamy. Definitely a must-try if you're more of a dark chocolate lover. Overall, we would definitely come back for the hot chocolate again. As for the truffles, I would consider gifting them, but probably wouldn't buy to eat myself as they're pricey for the taste and size.

Charming and feels like walking on to a Bridgerton Show set but instead ... a indulgent chocolate shop. Lovely way to spoil oneself once in awhile or purchase a present for a chocolate lover. Love their chocolates! The store has been open since 2004. Love it.

This is a third generation family chocolate business. One of the truffles was even made by the owners young daughter if in the area, this is a fun place to stop. He had a chocolate and picked up several truffles for later. The staff is very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable.

Cute chocolate shop in St. Helena. While the bonbons are not elaborately decorated, I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of dark chocolate options on offer. I particularly enjoyed the heart of darkness bonbon and my husband liked the hazelnut gianduja.

If you are a Chocolate Lover, this is a Must stop. Beautiful Chocolate Confections. A bit pricey but worth every dollar when you bite into them.! My wife and I order the 12 piece round box for $39. When we are home, sipping a glass of red wine , we treat ourselves to half a bite each and savior the flavors as they intermingle with our reds. It's always a TBO.... Taste Bud Orga-sm!!!! It's a must try stop in a quaint little town that has great restaurants as well..,

This little chocolate shop was recommended. It is really good. However, we arrived hoping for a sample.... As most of the shops in this quaint little town of St Helena offered many samples of their unique olive oils, cheeses and balsamics. We were hoping to try just a little of the dark chocolate hot chocolate ... they were more then adamant about not letting us try anything in this shop... I broke down and bought the hot chocolate tin for Christmas. The girl behind the counter said, as I finished paying. " ok you are good to go bye!" We were so put off by this behavior. Good thing the rest of the town was warm and welcoming

You won't be able to resist getting SOMETHING here. If you go, let me know how is their hot chocolate. It looked delicious.

We always stop by what house every single time we're even close to the area even if it's a little out-of-the-way. Yesterday it was super hot but I still wanted to go and see what new items they had and pick up our staples of their toffee and barks. Their unicorn bark and Galaxy bark are so fun and we always got the brown butter ganache chocolate which is so delicious. Super glad to see that they provide coolers with ice to combat the heat!

We found this place after watching an episode of "The best thing I ever ate". Don't know how I missed this place we are Napa locals and I've been through St. Helena hundreds of times! The rumors are true.. these chocolates are fantastic! Also very impressed with the young lady behind the counter she explained all the flavors perfectly. This is a must visit place if your in Napa/St. Helena.

Woodhouse represents high-quality chocolate and is one of only a handful of chocolatiers that I regularly order from across the U.S. As is the case with most high-end chocolatiers, each piece averages $2.00 - $3.00 per. In some cases, it is absolutely worth it, while in others it is absolutely not. Woodhouse falls into the former category. Woodhouse is perhaps my second favorite maker (after Norman Love Confections in Florida). I have never had a bad piece of chocolate from them. I found every single one to be made of high quality, luxurious, and rich ingredients. These people know what they're doing; it is clearly their passion as well as their profession. While they don't make the most cutting edge and innovative flavor combinations, everything they make is superb. If your idea of chocolate is limited to the M&M Mars and Hershey's conglomerate crap made by the billions every year, you're in for something special here. Be forewarned, however, that once you try this high level of quality, it's hard to revert back to Snickers, Milky Way, Kit Kat, and the like.

I've learned the hard way. It's better to call to make sure they're not out of stock or something that you really want. Krystal is the person who answered the phone. She was really friendly and really nice. Very helpful with information and I said I'll see you in a little bit to get some ice cream. I went down there and they had a excellent variety of flavors. I tasted several flavors and landed on strawberry. I was in the mood for it. OK that was my second choice actually I'm gonna be honest there was a mint chocolate chip that they just ran out of, but they had enough to give me a little taste sample and OMG when they get more in stock, I'm gonna go get some. It's rare when they run out of stock completely but it happens that's life I saw how Khystal was with several customers and dad went in there with his three-year-old daughter and I was like yeah you know please go ahead and help them. I'm not in a rush so she was kind of juggling and then there was too like 12 or 13 years old, but she was helping these customers while helping me and that's OK so I settled on strawberry and it tasted really great. My absolute favorite is the Dang Dazy milk chocolate--its velvety texture paired with crunchy almond and hazelnut bits creates the perfect balance. The Earl Grey dark chocolate was also incredibly good. While the richness of the dark chocolate leans slightly dominant, you can still catch those subtle, fragrant notes of Earl Grey in each bite. At around $3 per bonbon, it's definitely on the pricier side--but considering the quality, creativity, and variety of flavors, I think it's completely justified. It's especially heartbreaking to share that this is widely considered one of the best artisan chocolate shops in California, and they're now closing their only store in Yountville due to slow business and rising costs. Losing a place like this feels like losing a true gem. If you're anywhere near Yountville, make the trip and show them some love while you still can.

Regardless, we ended up picking a 9 piece box, which was $27. The subsequent times we visited, it was a different employee, who was more friendly so your experience may vary.
