Absolutely recommended to visit and take your time in this small chocolate shop. Ganaches and truffles are made fresh on site every day in small batches, and the chocolate is rich and smooth. We got to chat with the chocolate maker's friendly husband, who has lots of stories. I feel like the store should have counter stools and serve drinks so you can linger in its cozy cocoa cocoon even longer. read more

- [ ] OMG! A chocoholics paradise! Just walking into a room redolent of chocolate is enough to push my sweet tooth into overdrive! The owner and chocolatier are warm, friendly and knowledgable and their store is a very welcoming space. There are tasting samples and a wonderful assortment of chocolate delights. We purchased; Berry Pomegranate and Chipotle Morita bars, two kinds of sugar free chocolates and five small boxes of seven chocolates as gifts for workshop helpers. Score! The chocolate itself is of an extremely high quality and is absolutely delicious. My favs so far: Wild Strawberry & French Mocha. Yum! This place is MIND BLOWING. If you are a serious chocolate freak like myself, you need to try this place out. Nestled in the quiet charming area that is En Ellen lies the most insanely delicious chocolate shop that exists. The truffles are beyond anything I've ever tasted. Local fruit fusions with their chocolate bars and dipped chocolate fruit are impeccable. I got a orange zest bar. 61% cacao and local oranges. I also tried three different truffles. The dark chocolate boysenberry with honey filling at the top. The "Elvis" which has peanut butter and banana filling, and a simple raspberry flavor. I am SO coming back. read more

Seriously, these are the best truffles you can buy in the Bay Area right now. I'm not going to say other truffles and chocolatiers aren't good; there are TONS of other great places to buy chocolates in the area. (TCHO, Scharffenberger, etc.). That being said, my favorite chocolate truffles, without any hesitation, are from Wine Country Chocolates. The texture of the chocolate shell, the flavor of the ganache, the variety of flavors available, every aspect is on point. Of course they're not cheap, this is artisan chocolate made on premise and is totally worth it, to say the least. If anyone remembers Candyjar truffles from San Francisco back in the day, this would be the spiritual successor to that famous truffle maker. Since they are located in wine country, there's lots of wine-inspired flavors as well. This detail in itself makes this place pretty unique. The place to be for Chocolate Tasting ... I don't need to say more about this place because Kerry K. described it with eloquence. Besides their website sums it up... This little spot in Glen Ellen makes the best chocolate ever. Today I and a friend drove up to Glen Ellen and I stopped off at Jack London Village were the shop is. This is the shop were the chocolates and other delicious treats are made. Today I had the chocolate covered figs. Oh, what a delicious combination. So used to fig cookies, such as fig Newtons, but to have fig and fine chocolate, very unique. The surroundings and the drive to beautiful and quaint Glen Ellen ad to the experience. I drive to Wine Country Chocolate specifically for their Rocky Road. It's to die for! The Rocky Road is made with dark chocolate and it's smothered with caramel. There is a window where you can watch them making chocolate. Plus they have free samples! read more

Open the doors and you're welcomed with the smell of chocolate! I seriously wanted to stand at the doorway the whole day! Pretzel stick dipped in chocolate, pretzel and chocolate used to make a mini raft, corks made of chocolate with marzipan, packages of rocky road (marshmallow with chocolate, caramel and nuts), chocolate dipped apricots, shortbread cookies with half dipped in chocolate. Obviously they make they're own chocolate. These decadent truffles aren't the ones you find at the corner store. They have flavors from pomegranate with orange honey, chocolate cacao with espresso, green tea with honey. Oh and they us local wine to make Cabernet sauvignon and zinfandel! We brought in a few bottles of Frias wine and they helped us pair them with all the chocolate I, mean we wanted. All with pretty designs and colors. They have their own chocolate and caramel sauce. The prices are a little expensive but worth it to say you've eaten chocolate besides that bar of snickers. It is a little dark inside as it's wooden floors but I assume that's to keep the chocolate fro melting. The sales girls was friendly and gave us a lot of the samples she had. read more

Strolling around Sonoma Plaza, a sign caught our attention: "Chocolate Tastings". We immediatly took a detour between some buildings and entered a small shop. The location of this shop used house Sonoma Sausage Company (very good, by the way). They have tastings of their chocolate, with varying percentages of cacao. I could really taste and appreciate the differences in the cacao content. Samples of ganache were offered as well. When we were there, they were sampling the champagne and raspberry. Both so smooth and rich. Couldn't walk away empty handed so I picked-up a small bag of 38% cacao chocolate disks. Staff in the store were very friendly, and let us indulge in sampling! read more

Wow. SO fantastic. Too hot to go wine tasting so we opted for chocolate instead. The caramel de sel was excellent and the chocolate covered orange peel bar was to die for. Very friendly service to boot! One big YUM. read more

Jack London village is a quaint and wonderful place to go. Stopping at this little shop was worth the visit. We were greeted by a friendly woman who instantly handed us a spoon with a sample of the most wonderful dark chocolate truffle. Since it was December, I needed a Hannukah gift for a friend and this was perfect. I bought not one but two boxes of truffles - had to get one for myself as well. The hard part was picking out the truffles: rasberry, orange, wine infused, coffee, so many to choose from it was hard to decide. This is a great stop between wine tastings. read more

wine...country...chocolates. Just say it over again in your head. Now, imagine what they could POSSIBLY mean... Now go there and realize that you couldn't have possibly imagined it as good as it actually is. They have chocolates infused with different wine varietals (oh, duh...that's an easy one...). They also have delicious ganache flavors, beautiful truffles that make you into a crazy kid poking at the glass because you want to try it. Such a sweet shop! My husband and I wanted to go wine tasting , but had our teenager with us.. we decided to stop here before heading to some tastings. When we spotted the shop, we knew we had to go in. The staff was extremely friendly and informative. We ended up buying a box of a dozen chocolates, but wished we bought more. Considering we live in NJ we can't really go back soon lol. Definitely stop in if you're in the area, it's worth it. read more

Chocolate so good it'll reduce you to a babbling idiot. It takes a lot of self control to only walk away with one or two. Cute shop, beautiful, tasty chocolates, and sweet, friendly, talkative people tending the shop. It's a tiny bit pricey, but that's not unexpected or out of line for a boutique chocolatier. read more

This was a very random find. We were with some friends who loves chocolate and drove past a chocolate tasting sign. The gentleman in there was extremely knowledgeable about chocolate- the making of and the growing. We got to taste the ganache and three different percentages of chocolate. We ended up getting a box of 7 chocolates and they were so good. A great snack after wine and with it. read more

If you visit Sonoma or Glen Ellen or for that matter if your anywhere in northern CA you have to stop and give yourself a wonderful treat. Betty and Caroline, mother daughter team, are the best chocolatiers in the wine country and they now have a chocolate tasting bar to pair with your favorite wines (ask for this tasting bar at your favorite winery.) Go in the morning, while the ganache is warm... it's the perfect breakfast! The owner is really friendly and chatty, so be prepared to talk about chocolate. She sources hers from Guittard, which is one of - if not the ONLY - family run chocolate makers left in the US. It's definitely "craft" chocolate at it's best and the quality is outstanding. I treated myself to a Fleur de Sel Caramel and brought home a "Box of Seven" and some Rocky Road for the family... who promptly thanked me by drooling in pools after eating their treats. Really, who needs to leave the Jack London Village in Glen Ellen? There are SO many wonderful hidden gems there, it was a great place to stop! read more

The dark chocolate cherry bark is my favorite. usually go to the farmers market to chat and learn about chocolate. They will show you the pod and you can even buy unprocessed cacao nips to throw in a smoothie or just try for fun. Totally worth it. read more

Support your local chocolatier. The Wine Country is a chocolate hub of sorts- after all, it's a heavenly pairing, and theobroma does mean "food of the gods." Wine Country Chocolates has an open kitchen/factory of sorts, so one can watch the magic being made. They make a sweet ganache. You won't go wrong choosing anything in this sweet store. Delicious samples drew us in initially which quickly lead to us walking out with coconut toffee (seriously try it if you like toffee or toasted coconut), rocky road pieces made with 61% cocoa and chewy marshmallows, caramel and almonds, and 61% cocoa discs - perfect pieces that melt in your mouth. Yummy chocolates! I tried the creme brulee, hazelnut, and salted caramel. All very good. The young woman at the counter was very nice and helpful. It was a hot day and although they do not sell beverages, she went to the back and brought me out a bottled water...I'll be back to try more of their wonderful chocolates especially the honey comb dipped in chocolate. read more

So I thought only Solvang had superb chocolates out of this world. Well now I can come here and get one of the best chocolates in all the land. When you walk in Betty asks would you like to try of our cappucino tiramisu chocolate? I'm like heck yea. Aftwards I got a taste zinfandel chocolate. Wow I just found my new chocolate place. So what if I have to drive an hour to get here, beats 3 hours to Santa Barbara. By the time Ieave I decide to get 12 chocolates which run about $20. Green tea with lemon honey, zinfandel, cappucino tiramisu, hazelnut, orange-gran marnier, mint chocolate, french mocha, champagne were the chocolates I picked up. So far 2 down, 10 to go. read more

This place fills the air with delicious chocolate smells. The little truffles and chocolates are absolutely beautiful. So beautiful in fact, that is hard to eat them. Once you smell the delicious high quality chocolate and rich fillings, you will quite get over the hesitation and taste something absolutely delicious. I only wish I lived closer so I could grab a sinful truffle, or buy some for my friends more often. read more

Also, their tasting room is just gorgeous and in a lovely area. I whole heartedly recommend stopping in at Schermeister if they're open (they close when they sell out of wine) and I plan to come back any time I'm in Northern California.

Our cake was literally the cake of my dreams and she absolutely nailed the design, aesthetic, and piping. The mini desserts for our guests were delicious as well! Throughout my wedding planning process, Ora Mika always made herself available to answer any questions I had and we enjoyed getting to do a cake tasting from her as well (the cake tasting is $50 and that credit gets applied to your overall cake/dessert bill if you order with them, so it's basically free cake! And who wouldn't love that?! ) Altogether, I could not recommend Flour & Bloom enough for any party event dessert needs. When we arrived we were immediately greeted by the bartender. We placed an order with him at the bar and the food came relatively quickly. It was hot, presented nicely, and smelled great. Well we were waiting for the food, several customers entered the bar and ordered drinks and food. Most of them knew each other and it seemed like this is an industry place. People who work in the wine industry seem to gather here. In other words, people come here regularly. My salad was delicious! It could have been better or different, but I enjoyed it and I finished every bite. My husband's Reuben was a little burned on the outside for his taste. He ate it, but I don't think he really enjoyed it. Portions were good and had the Reuben been grilled less, he would have loved it! As we walked up to the bar to pay the bill, my husband mentioned to the bartender that his Reuben was not enjoyable because of the charred outside. The bartender took that off the bill. You can't argue with that! I really feel that his food was outside of normal. I don't think that there would be 15 regulars on a given weekday if the food wasn't decent. I would definitely return and give this place another try when traveling through this area.
