This place is MIND BLOWING. If you are a serious chocolate freak like myself, you need to try this place out. Nestled in the quiet charming area that is En Ellen lies the most insanely delicious chocolate shop that exists. The truffles are beyond anything I've ever tasted. Local fruit fusions with their chocolate bars and dipped chocolate fruit are impeccable. I got a orange zest bar. 61% cacao and local oranges. I also tried three different truffles. The dark chocolate boysenberry with honey filling at the top. The "Elvis" which has peanut butter and banana filling, and a simple raspberry flavor. I am SO coming back. read more

Seriously, these are the best truffles you can buy in the Bay Area right now. I'm not going to say other truffles and chocolatiers aren't good; there are TONS of other great places to buy chocolates in the area. (TCHO, Scharffenberger, etc.). That being said, my favorite chocolate truffles, without any hesitation, are from Wine Country Chocolates. The texture of the chocolate shell, the flavor of the ganache, the variety of flavors available, every aspect is on point. Of course they're not cheap, this is artisan chocolate made on premise and is totally worth it, to say the least. If anyone remembers Candyjar truffles from San Francisco back in the day, this would be the spiritual successor to that famous truffle maker. This little spot in Glen Ellen makes the best chocolate ever. Today I and a friend drove up to Glen Ellen and I stopped off at Jack London Village were the shop is. This is the shop were the chocolates and other delicious treats are made. Today I had the chocolate covered figs. Oh, what a delicious combination. So used to fig cookies, such as fig Newtons, but to have fig and fine chocolate, very unique. The surroundings and the drive to beautiful and quaint Glen Ellen ad to the experience. Open the doors and you're welcomed with the smell of chocolate! I seriously wanted to stand at the doorway the whole day! Pretzel stick dipped in chocolate, pretzel and chocolate used to make a mini raft, corks made of chocolate with marzipan, packages of rocky road (marshmallow with chocolate, caramel and nuts), chocolate dipped apricots, shortbread cookies with half dipped in chocolate. Obviously they make they're own chocolate. These decadent truffles aren't the ones you find at the corner store. They have flavors from pomegranate with orange honey, chocolate cacao with espresso, green tea with honey. Oh and they us local wine to make Cabernet sauvignon and zinfandel! We brought in a few bottles of Frias wine and they helped us pair them with all the chocolate I, mean we wanted. All with pretty designs and colors. They have their own chocolate and caramel sauce. The prices are a little expensive but worth it to say you've eaten chocolate besides that bar of snickers. It is a little dark inside as it's wooden floors but I assume that's to keep the chocolate fro melting. The sales girls was friendly and gave us a lot of the samples she had. read more

Strolling around Sonoma Plaza, a sign caught our attention: "Chocolate Tastings". We immediatly took a detour between some buildings and entered a small shop. The location of this shop used house Sonoma Sausage Company (very good, by the way). They have tastings of their chocolate, with varying percentages of cacao. I could really taste and appreciate the differences in the cacao content. Samples of ganache were offered as well. When we were there, they were sampling the champagne and raspberry. Both so smooth and rich. Couldn't walk away empty handed so I picked-up a small bag of 38% cacao chocolate disks. Staff in the store were very friendly, and let us indulge in sampling! read more

Jack London village is a quaint and wonderful place to go. Stopping at this little shop was worth the visit. We were greeted by a friendly woman who instantly handed us a spoon with a sample of the most wonderful dark chocolate truffle. Since it was December, I needed a Hannukah gift for a friend and this was perfect. I bought not one but two boxes of truffles - had to get one for myself as well. The hard part was picking out the truffles: rasberry, orange, wine infused, coffee, so many to choose from it was hard to decide. This is a great stop between wine tastings. read more

Go in the morning, while the ganache is warm... it's the perfect breakfast! The owner is really friendly and chatty, so be prepared to talk about chocolate. She sources hers from Guittard, which is one of - if not the ONLY - family run chocolate makers left in the US. It's definitely "craft" chocolate at it's best and the quality is outstanding. I treated myself to a Fleur de Sel Caramel and brought home a "Box of Seven" and some Rocky Road for the family... who promptly thanked me by drooling in pools after eating their treats. Delicious samples drew us in initially which quickly lead to us walking out with coconut toffee (seriously try it if you like toffee or toasted coconut), rocky road pieces made with 61% cocoa and chewy marshmallows, caramel and almonds, and 61% cocoa discs - perfect pieces that melt in your mouth. When you walk in Betty asks would you like to try of our cappucino tiramisu chocolate? I'm like heck yea. Aftwards I got a taste zinfandel chocolate. Wow I just found my new chocolate place. So what if I have to drive an hour to get here, beats 3 hours to Santa Barbara. By the time Ieave I decide to get 12 chocolates which run about $20.
